But my sisters mil claims that's what she used on her kids that had it and it worked. Me I am not endorsing it o! Just do whatever you can for your baby! Nita2013: Their immunisation is mondays to fridays but for rotavirus and pcv its Wednesdays and thursdays.
PCV is now free as well but it was explained why they still take money for the other type of PCV. This means that they give two types there, one u pay for (10,500) and the other is free so its d mothers choice to pick one. I told d nurse nobody will see fre pcv and take d one that reauires payment and she explained to me that the free one has 10 extrigents (abi wetin dem dey call am) and the paid one has 13 extrigents. That they r still experimenting d free pcv but that mothers dont kno, all they care about is that its free so give my child is all they hear lol.
Rotavirus is 7k there.
If u r takin the paid pcv and rota only pls dont pay any money down stairs. Just walk upstairs, take a number and ask for the room they administer special vaccine ( thats what they call it) u will pay for them at d point of collection.
If its d free pcv and any other like penta and d rest, pay 200 naira downstairs b4 going upstairs.
Cheers
quote author=Tojued post=49505873]Good evening everyone.
Abuja mommies please who knows FMC Jabi immunisation days? Someone told me Tuesday and Thursday but I remember we took our BCG there on a Monday, and there were older children around for their own shots.
Also how do I make sure they give my baby PCV and Rota? I guess I should ask before making payment? I don't want repeat of our 12 weeks where I did not know clinic did not give those shots. They did not even mention anything, I was taken completely unawares when I got home and saw only two out of 4 shots were ticked.

@Onegai we're still digesting the best way to crowdpush for our rights. As for the labour law, that one really affects me because my organisation sticks with the most basic provisions of the law and they can't be faulted for that, after all if my country does not love me, why should they? My dear not being sacked for needing maternity leave was a big sign that they appreciate my role lol. |

achalugonata: @ loneytunes: there is no new procedure wit regard 2 renewing ur vehicle license. U don't need 2 change ur vehicle's no plate if u do not have any need 4 it.
2ndly, if u're selling it vehicle and it has d new no plate, u are 2 take ur no plate and can use it 2 register any other of ur vehicle as registration of existing no plate. While d buyer does change of ownership and re-registration of already registered vehicle. Dis comes with d New owners no plate and all d documents on his name. U are also 2 collect from d buyer ur original allocation of registration no and prove of ownership certificate after having done his change of ownership.
Vehicle license differs in price as it's cost based on its engine capacity. It ranges from #1250- #1875 - #2500 - #3275. Road worthiness between #2500 - #3000. Third party insurance #5000.
@ infolpf: I work with (mvaa) motor vehicle administration agency in lagos and renewals r still being done till date and and new no plate is not being forced on any one.
@ tmabin: u need 2 return d new no plate 2 d former owner of dat vehicle, process a change of ownership and do a re-registration of already registered vehicle with dis, all documents will be giving in ur name with ur own no plate. Alternatively, keep driving on d former owner's name and just keep renewing d documents when expired. But if u want d documents in ur name, den u must follow due process.
@ femorra: d same applies 2 u as tmabin.
@ maly : ur vehicle license is genuine as auto-reg has removed d alert dat used 2 come with license renewal or new registration due 2 client's complain of #200 charge on alerts.
For further enquiries, take my contact from my signature.
Pls note: I work only in Lagos. Please how much will it cost if I want to change the numberplate so it's in my name. Also how can I start the process online? Please give me the website. That way I can complete payment before going to vio office. |

Onegai: So mothers, recently I decided to try Pampers diapers and I had a horrendous experience. I checked online and I saw I was not the only one having the same issues. It is a very common issue. But no-one was doing anything about it and when I complained, it was Pampers International that was replying, Pampers Nigeria couldn't be bothered but made sure Instagram was flooded with pics of Tiwa Savage and her son (even when someone tweeted the issue at her, no response).
I spoke to a friend and she told me that we should band and do something. She always says that there are laws in Nigeria but nobody bothers to make anyone accountable so everyone breaks it.
Why should we be giving a company our money when they are producing poor substandard goods? Why are we paying for vaccines that affect us more (in the U.S. they pump treated water and give Rotavirus free, in Nigeria we don't get treated water and pay for Rotavirus. All vaccines are from government sold to private). We accept so much nonsense and just manage and adjust ourselves. And suffer for it and yet be complaining.
There's something known as a Class Action suit. A group of people can sue a company to change their regulations or products. In Nigeria, it has happened (I believe MyPikin Teething Powder was a case because babies died) and I know Golden Morn (Nestle) came specifically to Nairaland to announce that Golden Morn wasn't infant cereal (avoiding a lawsuit). People have sued in this Nigeria and won. People have changed things in Nigeria and they were ordinary people. People like us.
I believe if we start talking, here to every mother, we can get Rotavirus given freely. And let us vote with our money: I will never endorse Pampers even if I am given a carton free because it is a shoddy product and it inspired me to start looking for good options in cloth diapers available. I believe we can make enough of a fuss online and get foreign mothers involved in making Cerelac (Nestle) change their formulation for West Africa to reduce the amount of sugar in it according to all their other standards. Someone went to Ghana and said the nonsense we accept in Nigeria that other West African countries and even East Africa does not accept, but Nigerians accept and accomodate, is baffling.
So, yeah. Let's think big.
#EndRant I'm in, especially for the rotavirus. Our labour law also needs to make maternity leave 6 months, in line with WHO recommendations for 6 months maternity leave. |

Adeime: Mamas I'm just curious i just want to know why do parents barb their babies hair when they turn one What I think/ practical reason: Most times a child's hair does not grow evenly especially when they're always lying on it. Around 6 months they start sitting more, crawling etc, but they don't cut the hair as it's still a source of insulation as per keeping cold out. Besides who wants to take a crawler to a salon? If the hair is not even you have to cut before it grows well. Also you don't want to cut your girl's hair before one else you won't have enough hair to decorate with ribbon for her birthday. Very important! What I heard/ traditional reason: If you dint shave off the baby hair the person's hair will never grow well. That even if it looks nice now patches will show themselves later or the hair will be weak or the hair will be cutting. All those kind of stories sha. |

mayluv: Hello Mama's, kindly help a first time mum o. Recently when breastfeeding my baby, she sucks for some time then she starts struggling and behaves as if she's choking and starts crying. At this point I burp her and try feeding her again and the whole process repeats itself. It relieves her during night feeding and some times during the day. Has anyone experienced this and what could be the cause. Thanks Cc: Onegai ps: she is just 3 weeks old Maybe your milk flows very fast. Actually the struggling prompts more milk let down. To slow down milk flow lie down and let her eat while facing downwards. That way she has to suck to eat rather than milk pouring into her mouth.

crystalsaint: hello house... please I am a new mom..gave birth last week. want to ask question about tongue tied... my baby is sucking well..she released the tongue out when yawning.. a friend just came to day and asked if have checked her out for tongue tied.. I was confused... she raise the tongue too maybe not really well... please I want to the symptoms of tongue tied.. do you think those nurses in health center can help out too in checking... please reply me.. abeg Any experienced nurse can tell if the tongue is tied. The procedure is very simple, Dr. loosened lo's own when I took him for circumcision. I was not satisfied so during six week check he used his finger nail to further loosen it. No surgery or anything required, it can be sniped in dr's office once child is 6 weeks or younger. To try and check by yourself, Put your finger on your child's lower lip, he'll open his mouth. Then put finger on his lower gum, he'll stick the tongue out. If it's tied you'll see a groove (deep line) in the middle of the tongue. It will look like a 'w'. Also a tied tongue can barely protrude past the gum talk less of reaching the lip. When they try to bring out the tongue, it will fold downwards. |

inikamoze: Has anyone experienced this? My 7weeks old boy does not poo-poo everyday, sometimes once in 3days, and lately 5days...his fart can knock an elephant out... Lol. We initially started using gripe water to soften his stomach, and lately He had 'ella', this body rash that appears on newborn and we have been using 'agbo' and herbal soap to bathe him, the 'agbo woman' prescribed agbo jeddi for babies which we have been giving him but his poo-poo is still not regular. He eats regularly and normally..the boy can suck and eat...Lol and he keeps gaining weight so I am kind of happy he is growing well, but the poo thing worries me. Is it normal or should we have something to worry about. What all the mamas told you already. I believe your boy is formula fed so not pooing daily is normal. I'm only responding to beg you to stop with the agbo gedi. Poor boy. Rather than using agbo that you don't know the constituents to bathe him, why not use boil neem leave (dogoyaro) by yourself to use? An experienced-mummy-friend swears by it. |

Do you add anything to your shea butter to make it smell nice?
Thanks A baby is a baby and therefore will always smell like a baby. Personally I love the smell of coconut oil on my lo. Makes him smell so adorable, I want to eat him! The perfumes making products smell nice are part of the reasons babies react. |

Onegai: Tojued, as per your position on Traditional methods.
I agree with some and I disagree with others. I have drank lemongrass to help with feverish symptoms. But I wouldn't give Agbo to my child because I cannot trust the people making it nowadays (anyone can declare herself to be a native healer and mix engine oil and camphor with leaves. As for the baby exercise, yeah you can massage but not throw the baby up and down and shake it. One of my family friends said he has treated baby with Shaking Syndrome (I think he said they had damage to their brain or skull). Fearlessness will not be affected, Caucasians are not throwing their babies anywhere and they are the ones skydiving and bungee-jumping Na waa o, I no know say shaking syndrome dey exist. Personally I don't shake sha. As for agbo you're supposed to buy the leaves and barks and boil yourself if you don't have the knowledge to harvest them fresh. |

AlphaHandMaiden: You need ro use any brand of fomular . As he is still below 6 months i would suggest you youse the one from birt to 6 months usually indicated with 1
After 6 months, use follow-on milk , usually indicated with a 2 I would have also said breastmilk, but i dont think it works well with pap. Lilkely to make it too runny! What if you make the pap extra thick? Also when using breast milk for cereal, do you use same quantity as formula? E.g if for formula you mix 3 spoons milk to 3 spoons cerelac, in 180ml (6oz) of water. For bm what qty will you need for 3 spoons of cereal? |

babythug: The poo shouldn't be green! Try and ensure he empties one breast before you change him to the other side so he can benefit from what is known as hind milk...
For the navel the massage is fine ensure also that the area is cleaned with cotton wool and meth spirit.
Haven't got any experience with the snoring but perhaps you can mention it to your Dr or google it up The baby is 12 weeks, I assume there should be nothing to clean in the navel! It ought to be completely healed by now. The hot water massage is just for fun, my mum says it was needed those days of tetanus. Now we all take shots for that during pregnancy. Sabi mamas if navel still hasn't healed shouldn't she go see a doctor? Make sure baby empties breast. That ought to prevent green poo. You could also start his feed from the breast he ended with during his last feed. |

Onegai: Good morning Babythug, Zemaye and Tojued, Evamum and any other mamas with new babies. How goes it?
LiftesHands and ocyzy, DrAda shared here that Peak123 milk was very sugary. Imagine combining it with Nigerian Cerelac and then expecting a weaning baby not to complain when offered Nigerian food (which is savoury and not sweet). I remember in my lactation class our facilitator told us there was no such thing as "Follow-Up milk" for toddlers, that it was a marketing gimmick by companies to sell regular whole milk to children, add sugar and rack up the price from normal milk. Your toddler can drink Dano Full cream or any Fill cream or whole milk. Now i see why you're being nominated for class captain. You have personal touch gan. Good morning (in arrears) and well done for all the time you devote to this thread. Mamas that sabi and are active thank you for this thread o, after less than one week here I deleted babycentre sharp sharp. Who oyinbo forum epp self? Now I only read the weekly newsletters. comtem2011: for d hair, if u can get palm kernel oil or ask a Dr if he can use nizzoral shampoo it works wonder but for his age (confirm from ur Dr first.
4. Air his bumbum and try Whitfield ointment for like 2 weeks. Don't always put him on diaper.
2. don't allow him to rush d milk, remove brezz at interval, let him rest then continue. Make sure d milk flow is not touching the upper throat. Mitchyy if you can actually get palm kernel oil it should work for the rash. Also I hear it's better for diaper to be bigger than child than to be smaller as per nappy rash. Welldone on feeding your baby so sufficiently that they're having blow outs. When you wear the pampers make sure the inner elastic is turned inwards while the outer one is outwards (i was proudly turning inner outwards before I read this instruction on an Angel diaper pack). That way poo should only leak from the top. When baby poops turn him upside down on your lap immediately, this might minimise poo stains to the clothes. Mommies please who has bought books from that guy before? I'm in Abuja and the whole idea of pay before shipping is tough o! This economy is straining the idea of trust. |

nky4success: thanks for d reply, what I mean is dat d bombom has a reddish scar like nla and the poo was greenish in color and something like catarrh Green poop = baby not getting hind milk, or intestinal infection Mucus in poop = breast fed baby drooling probably because of teething issues, or serious infection Nappy rash = poop that has mucus easily leads to nappy rash if not wiped on time. |
