So because I suggested that women should surprise their husbands by secretly putting $10,000.00 into their husbands accounts this thread suddenly die ![]() Women , Una too much ![]() |

They are wonderful performers. Just two weeks ago they came to southwest Ohio and it was great watching them. Some of their performances are scarry though, but they are talented experts. Sadly, last weekend, one of them slipped out from the safety rope and fell to the pit, and went to be with her maker May God grant you eternal rest. http://m.cbsnews.com/storysynopsis.rbml?pageType=national&url=http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57591706/cirque-du-soleil-acrobat-dies-during-las-vegas-show/&feed_id=1&videoid=37&catid=57591706 |
CAMEROONPRIDE: I guess Michele Obama is marginalized and is an underachiever right?Michelle is marginalized na. First, she's answering "Obama" instead of Michelle Robinson, or Michelle Robinson-Obama: this is terrible subjugation ![]() Second, she's forced to give up her career to live on Washington so her selfish husband can be president. Three, they even forced her to campaign for him. Even her own daughters that she bore in her own womb were forced to answer Obama instead of Robinson. ![]() |
CAMEROONPRIDE: David marry her please , tho she only likes white menDavid pls help us marry our sister 99cents. We can donate money for you to do plastic surgery and have some form of white skin which she can manage since no white man wants to look her side. Or I have a friend who is very light skinned. He's mixed. I hope 99cent can manage him ![]() Guys we need to help this sister. |
There's nothing wrong with female education. I won't marry an illiterate. Infact if a girl is not a college graduate I'm not inclined to marry her. The problem of modern feminists is that they are looking for a reason to stay relevant. That is why marital name change can be an issue, chimamanda complains about parents being more worried about their daughters having boyfriends than about their sons having girlfriends. Who should cook, who should "lead" in the family, bla bla bla ![]() Advice to all feminists; Get a man, Get a life !!' |
justwise: You have a very narrow minded mentality, this got nothing to do with whether one need job from 'oyibo' or not, its about communication whether you are speaking to 'oyibo' or a NigerianCarry ya thick accent come here na, if you are average life go tire you. I don't have an American accent. I don't even like their accent.( I prefer British accent) but I modify my Nigerian accent to communicate better. You don't like it, keep ya thick accent, obasanjo kept his own, nobody sent him to jail. |
You are right about the varieties but wrong about terming it American accent. Be it Tenessee, Texas or AA accent...southern accent in general is covertly frowned upon in mainstream America and thereby not considered American accent except of course you are talking about outside of USA. American accent has a standard American accent. Any average individual with these accents hardly makes it in the mainstream America.
Yes, I even heard southerners had to modify their accents to get a job in mainstream America. I've watched a documentary on accent training for southerners. And I've seen my friends here in Ohio making fun of southern accents . . . . They call the southern accent the y'all people. |
delors: Bros, Fela Kuti never had one?And you compare yourself to shaq, fela and president of Nigeria. These people are made. They don't need anything from oyibos. If you need something from them, job, business then you better try to make yourself easy to understand. These folks can't even pronounce your name. Look at Obama, when he was a young hustler, They called him Barry. Bc they were unwilling to learn how to pronounce barrak. But when Obama became a made man, he made them Learn how to pronounce his full name. Fela doesn't need them. They can go to hell for all he cares. They want to listen to afro juji music, they come to fela. So he doesn't need them. But you and me, fresh hustlers. We better adapt fast bc on this competitive age, unless you are exceptional in what you do (like fela) you had better blend in. If you are average and then you come for a job with thick ojuelegba accent, and I'm average and o come for the same interview with modified Nigerian accent, you think they will take you? ![]() |
50calibre: All these people saying if you don't fake an accent, you won't be understood, don't know what they are talking about. If you are looking for a job, I'm sure it is your responsibility to understand that Scottish accent Also if you are employed and clients who bring the money for the company comes, it is also your responsibility to understand what they are saying ![]() But if you are president of Nigeria, like GEJ or OBJ and these foreign companies are looking for contract, then you can speak with umuezealaogwara accent and even the president of the United States will try to understand you Otherwise, adapt or get left behind. |
And talking of American accent(s), hope you guys know that there are many many many many American accents? The south have their own, the north-east have their own, the mid-west have their own etc. and southerners will tell you that Texas accent is different from Mississippi accent which is different from Tennessee accent. The day some dude came from Nashville, my Ohio colleague could not understand him. Even Kentucky which is just across the river from Cincinnati has a different accent. |
stillwater: You don't have to change accents. Just pronounce your words well and you won't have any problems. Invest in good primary and secondary schools. Be attentive in English class and learn your phonetics. Wole Soyinka and Chimamanda Adichie have Nigerian accents and they are understood, so there's no need to switch anything. Stop making Tuface your mentor!I hope you know that wole Soyinka's and chimamanda's accents are not your typical Nigerian accent? Soyinka has been abroad time and again and also is someone involved with public speaking that his communication skills are what I'll call modified Nigerian accent ( actually refined Nigerian accent) chimamanda is more calculated in her speaking. She's another public speaker. These folks have been abroad for a while and they both speak with modified Nigerians accents. It's not the average accent in Enugu (or wherever she lived) and wole Soyinka's accent is not the same as the accent spoken in ogun state. (OBJ?) so these folks have modified accents Obasanjo, on the other hand speaks a more perfect Nigerian accent with Yoruba spice. But remember, he's president, of he goes abroad to speak, people will try to understand him, BUT a young hustler who goes abroad to hussle, the pressure is on you to communicate better or else employers will prefer others. I've lived abroad for years, my Nigerian accent is intact. But when I'm at work, I use the modified Nigerian accent to communicate better. Always having to repeat yourself is not good for a highly competitive capitalistic society like America. As for pidgin engrish, in still good at that, but e be like say some new words have developed that weren't in existence way back in the days. |
And if they see another woman who is happily married and content, they start beefing them about "servitude" and "freedoms" I just learnt last night that a woman who bears her husband's name is subjugated and in bondage . ![]() From fighting for equal rights on a relationship they advance to leadership rights . As if relationships are platforms for competition ![]() And people wonder why majority of them have issues with marriage |
CAMEROONPRIDE: You anger comes from the dryness between your legs, you need a man to hold you, touch you, kiss you and bed you so you feel like a woman, you need to lossen up and find a real man to fill you up quickly or you dry up between your legs.Lol ![]() Feminism ![]() |
99cent: actually, a woman's last name is VERY important. And nobody stops her or any other woman from keeping their maiden names. But stop bothering women who chose to take their husbands name ![]() |
davidylan: I find it funny that most of the rabid feminists are usually single. The women they claim to be fighting for on the other hand are happily married... flaunting their new surnames with pride. They are waiting for mr right like you ![]() |
davidylan: You go marry am?Me, marry 99cent? ![]() Enters spiritual mode Kasta raba-tibi balistutu esperontube tabarini ![]() |
druid06: Will you marry me!She's married. ![]() Craze man. 99cent is still single sha ![]() |
biolabee: Tosh... are u making light the quest to subjugate male surnames with femalesAll the women I know, in Nigeria, Britain and US are excited by marriage and they change their names quickly and are very happy. These feminists say na suffering ![]() I'm at a loss. |
You don't want your father or husband's name! Change it!!! Nothing is stopping you!
Spot on. NOTHING IS STOPPING THEM O! No law is stopping them o. How can someone complain about what she can simply do. @felli I feel you have something you are trying to say but you can't get it out. Take a deep breadth and try again. ![]() |
fellis: I am not upset, I wabt to draw your attention to the fact that women are still expected to be subordinate and subjugated to their husbands in every situation, because the prevalent belief in Africa is that women are inferior to men. Feminists are seeking to eliminate beliefs like this from people's minds.Answering your husbands name is subjugation? ![]() I've seen ladies, newly weds who change their Facebook iD to reflect their new name with so much excitement. Well sha, I guess people are different. |
fellis: How will you get it before? Mtshew. You know how my parents lived? They took decisions together. They loved each other till death. The only thing you can say is that my dad provided money for our education while our mother bought our clothes and food. Let me ask you, who is leading in that marriage? Lets just say, your ideas of marriage is different from mine. But there's no static model for marriage. If your plan works for you, hallelujah. All we want is a peaceful marriage. Have you ever asked yourself why women are the ones that are supposed to bear men's name and not the other way round? No I've not asked myself that question. And the reason is that there are better things to do with my time and resources. I've asked myself why there is OSU caste system in igboland, I've asked myself why bad things happen to good people. I've asked myself why Nigeria is such mess, I've asked myself why some people are poor. I've asked myself many questions that I find more relevant to human existence and suffering. And I make bold to tell you this; if the only problem you have is that men don't answer women's names after marrige, then you are one of the luckiest people on the planet. |
fellis: Please tell your husband you want the children to bear your name and not his. No, don't just tell him, insist on it. Since African men believe that men and women are equal. And what is the point? She doesn't want to, her husband doesn't want to, they live in peace, why are you upset? ![]() |
Miscellanous: Truth be told feminism struggle must continue. The marginalization by men like toshmann, davidylan etc against single mothers and parenthood is hideous.Tomorrow you will see them in dark corners bedding single helpless mothers.Haaa! This is serious Wahala dey o Abeg could you give me one point where I denied women their rights except the right to kill unborn babies for which I DO NOT apologize ![]() |
fellis: Please stop it with the pretending, just stop.d'you know what love means? If I love my wife we live together. We do things together. Don't you go for marriage counselling? The two become one. I don't understand this whole leader follower thing I'm serious. She cooks I do dishes She cleans the house I clean the bathrooms We share the work, we love each other. Wetin concern outsider inside am? What matters is we live in peace. If I love her, I would tolerate a lot from her and I won't berate her in public no matter how bad she is. Pls what exactly are you talking about.? I honestly don't get it. @bold, Why can't you bear her name?Bc I don't want to. I've been brought up to understand that the woman bears the man's name. Even the person I married was brought up to understand that the woman bears the man's name and is not complaining. Why are you drinking panadol for somebody else's non existent headache? ![]() I really don't understand you. |
fellis: Do you want to tell me that an average African man sees his fellow woman as equally intelligent as he is or deserving of the same opportunities as him?And why are you bothered with what an african man or any other man thinks. What matters is what the law says. Remember that in the US marriage laws favor the women so damn well. |
You miss the whole concept of marriage!!! Is it supposed to mean having authority over your spouse? ? ?
excellent response . I tire o. Marriage na fight? I made the choice to bear my husband's name! It's nobody's business... What exactly is the big deal in changing my name?E just be like say na me yarn this post. I like 1000. |
fellis: If your wife leads the home will you let your friends and family know about it?Perhaps you would want me to also tell my friends about the latest style I used with my wife last night huh? ![]() Have u heard of the word privacy? It's between me and my girl, period. Just to make you happy, when I lived with a girl, she personally banned me from entering the kitchen. Bc when I tried to cook . . . . . Anyway, she cooks, I do the dishes. We don't compete. It's not a fight who is leading. We complement each other. We no de struggle anything. Can you bear your wife's name after marriage? No. And that is not discrimination. But remember, there's NO LAW that says a woman must bear her husbands name. The two can meet and decide what name they want to bear. It's just a tradition that says the wife would bear the man's name. You can agree with your man to bear your name. You don't need to start a movement bc of it. Next question. ![]() |
fellis: I just have one question for the men on this thread saying they believe ingender equality.bring it on ![]() Can a woman lead a home? Do you believe that women can assume positions of leadership over their husbands in the home? Why not? It all depends on how she and her husband agree to live their lives. As long as it keeps them together living in peace, who complains? If my wife decides to cook all the time, or if I choose to wash my wife's underwear, whose business is it? What happens inside a marriage is no one's business except domestic violence and I hope feminists won't want to use their ideology of "freedom" to disrupt peaceful marriages Thanks for answering. Please try to base your answer on logical arguments and not religious scriptures. You're welcome ![]() Pls do not hesitate to ask me any questions with regards to this topic. ![]() |
CAMEROONPRIDE: she dodged it as usualNo she didn't dodge the question, the answer is still loading . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5% . . . ![]() |
