Tasma: What makes a consensual relationship between two adults of the same sex a crime like paedophilia, murder, thievery etc? Paedophilia is crime because it involves intercourse with underage persons i.e. one of the persons involved in the relationship can’t be deemed capable of making mature decisions. If you're out to promote the gay lifestyle, there are plenty of threads discussing that in the sexuality and jokes section. This particular topic is about a gay church. There's nothing you're saying here which hasnt been said before many times over. Tasma: True a person might have a “natural” tendency towards antisocial activities like violence, child abuse for instance. Thus we have laws to curb people from such activities with penalties of imprisonment and other sorts of punishment. The key word here is antisocial activity. Again I repeat how does a consensual relationship between two adults of the same sex translate to antisocial behaviour? once again, thats not what the thread is about. Check the sexuality section to see others saying exactly the same thing as you. this article describes what was also a consensual relationship. Do you support their right to act that way: http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/europe/01/30/germany.cannibal/index.htmlTasma: [Also again why does the image of homosexuality seem to be sexual intercourse between a man and an underage boy is this a trick question. |

It is up to us to show the outside people positives thing about our countries,Americans are good at it,ask any person who have never been there what their perception regarding America. They will tell you only positive stories and places. I am sending this pics to show you the positives things in our country whether they where build by whites or not(doesn't make any different,we can't change the past but we can create a better future. Regarding the attacks, believe me when I say majority of us looked in horror just like everybody around the world, cause if majority supported this attacks hundreds of thousand people would have died since the are over 5 millions non south africans living in the country. During the christians and muslim killings in your country,I never wanted to see pictures of stabbed or butchered bodies to make my point.I wanted to know the cause, and propose or debate the solutions.

, Gendarmes fire at in-coming Nigerian boats, as border remains closed to Nigerians
• Corpses at Ikang Jetty From JOSSY IDAM, Calabar Thursday, August 14, 2008
With more than five days to todays handover D-Day for Bakassi, Cameroon authorities slammed its border firmly shut to Nigerian entrants. And it remained so until today.
However, probably to further drive the fear of Cameroon into the spines of Nigerians operating around the disputed territory the gendarmes seem to have an order to shoot on sight any Nigerian who ventured anywhere around the troubled waters of Bakassi. The unwritten article appeared to be that, while Nigerian boats were allowed out of Bakassi, none was allowed to re-enter.
Gendarmes stationed in the Peninsula now had made sure any Nigerian who managed to vacate, did not come back into the territory for anything.
Those who dared, were shot, killed or wounded. A fisherman, Akpan Udoh who escaped from the place, told Daily Sun at Akpabuyo, Cross River State, that Cameroonian soldiers-gendarmes have gone trigger happy. Speaking through an interpreter, the fisherman said the gendarmes are massed at waterfronts, shooting, killing and destroying boats venturing into the peninsula.
Akpan also revealed that unidentified corpses recently washed up at Abana beach, the hitherto administrative headquarter of Bakassi Local Government Area.
As the today’s handover date of the peninsular drew close, Daily Sun learnt the gendarmes had made life unbearable for Nigerians living there. Another returnee who now lives at a temporary shelter erected by Cross River State government at Ikang, George Okon, accused the gendarmes of looting, raping and killing Nigerians in the peninsula at will.
“Not checked by anybody, there’s no Nigerian soldier or police in the area now to protect us. So, the gendarmes treat us like slaves. They take things by force – rape housewives and girls openly. So, no point in my staying there again,” the former school teacher said Tuesday.
A military source told Daily Sun that the gendarmes overkill may not be unconnected with the recent attack on the gendarmes by militants in the area. “It looks like a reprisal attack which has now gone out of control,” the military source said.

Tasma: Assuming homosexuals choose to be homosexual one may have cause to question the "naturalness" of their way of life. However most are naturally attracted to the same sex and can argue that God made them that way. Why then would other "straight" people feel cause to question them. Also the fact that a man or woman may not have sex with members of the same sex does not make them straight. There are probably some amongst the people posting vitriolic replies here that may have closet feelings for the same sex and hide the feelings due to the inappropriateness of the life style in Nigeria. Lastly the comment about young boys is funny because it must assume homosexuality = male paedophilia. I wonder how that came about.
"buttfuckers?" tut tut (shakes head in disbelief) Kindly state the reason for your post? If you feel its ok for young boys to attend that church, then take your young male relatives there. Your fishing for closet homosexuals on this thread has nothing to do with the topic. Making a conscious decision not to give in to sexual urges is not a crime like you and others like you try to make it out to be. There are plenty of heterosexuals who decide not to have sex for whatever reason. Its a personal decison, and in no way your business, just like you consider homosexuality nobody's business but the homosexuals' own. |

I thought it was a Fulani thing? The rural Fulani, not the urban ones.
They have a festival where potential suitors get flogged. Whoever shows the most endurance, gets the girl.
Actually, I think the girl herself chooses the one who remains standing after the flogging. If the man shows pain while being flogged, he's considered a weakling who can't take care of a family. Its seen as a big shame.
I never actually witnessed one of these ceremonies but I heard about it from others.
There's also a description in one of these Nigerian novels- maybe Burning Grass, I think. |

vigasimple: This is another example of Nigerians having 'no government'
A responsible govt will have publicise nationally the situation and status of resident of Bakkassi and what they should be doing before and after the 14th August 2008.
Also, for some people just making noise just few days before the handover it is sad. It is now quite conceivable that the whole of Nigeria can be ceeded to Benin Republic and our politicians will still be eating pepper soup and big stout.
Hope is one thing that is close to eternal, we should not lose hope Nigeria day is coming very soon.
As things stand we simply have clueless President and govt, and to be fair to the present administration we have bad govt's for a long time. why do you think the decision of the world court was wrong? Did you examine the reasons why bakassi was returned to cameroon, or its too much work to do so? The matter predated Nigeria's independence. Did you look at the evidence for and against, and what exactly can you pinpoint as validating your claims here? |

Eziachi: I am not licking anyone's boot according to you. I don't need to be blind or stupid to be a nationalist or patriotic in your eyes. What I am trying to tell you is that South Africa and Mandela were wise to keep hold of the white man that has been doing all the stuff for years to retain contnueity until their own black folk had learned a lot and can then manage. You can see that today in their wine industry where some black people are emerging. And those that use your idea of nationlism are found in Zimbabawe and that is what happened with Nigeria and other African nations after their indepedent that they allowed their heart to rule their head.
If you bought a company as a businessman, will it be wise to send the former employees parking to bring your own fresh faces just to prove that you are now the new owner? You will keep the old staff until you have learned a enough to start making changes or bringing in your own hand picked staff. That is wisdom Your ignorance is beyond belief. NIGERIA AND SOUTH AFRICA DO NOT HAVE THE SAME HISTORY.Got it? Or is this simple fact too much for you to comprehend? Name three parts of Nigeria where "traces of whites" were wiped out, to back up your daft claims here. abi you want to start manufacturing stories about a Nigerian Prester John and a fantastic colony of whites in precolonial and colonial Nigeria? The whites in south Africa migrated there PERMANENTLY because the climate was suitable for them, much of the land was uninhabited, and there were lots of natural resources like diamonds, etc . West Africa has never been a permanent destination of choice for Europeans because the climate is harsh on them. Is all this over your head? If people decided to leave of their own volition after independence, too bad you werent around to beg or force them to stay. |

Mpele: Fistly let me address tpia! dude i did not join nairaland to argue with people like you! If you're proudly Nigerian then what the hell are you doing in New Zealand. For the record, the reason I joined Nairaland is that, it was recommended to me by my Nigerian friend who reside in South Africa. Another reason I joined is that I find Nigerians to be some of the most free spirited people in Africa. They have a great sense of humour. Its always nice to debate with them. Most of them have the western culture of debating in a liberal and democratic manner. As for you tpia! You have a tendency of always wanting to be right. Not everybody will like you, or agree with you.
Morpheus I get your point and to some extent I agree with you, South Africans need to make it a point that they learn about their fellow African brothers. The apartheid regime made them believe that other Africans are sub human! This again goes back to the issue of the media. The media is a powerful tool that have created most of the problems that we have today. The one thing that I have picked up from our media is that whenever the president of our sports teams go to other African countries you'll get reports like e.g " Bafana Bafana will be going to Africa to play Nigeria in a friendly match" Statements like this gives you a hint that most South Africans don't think that they belong to Africa. With the recent xenophobic attacks, there are strong possibilities that there might be a third force that was behind those attacks. look, I don't mind arguing with people like you till the cows come home. You have constantly abused and insulted Africans times without number, even on this forum which is CLEARLY a Nigerian one. You still come on to type all kinds of useless rubbish about how much you despise and detest Africans, Nigerians, or anything black. So what if your so called Nigerian friends told you about nairaland? Is that any reason why you must always go the extra mile to hype your fake whiteness and retarded contempt for blacks? Instead of you to ADMIT there's no South African forum comparable to this NIGERIAN one, you come here posting meaningless pictures to show how south Africa is better than Nigeria. I could care less whatever WHITE development is going on over there which you're desperately trying to take credit for, as if the whites themselves don't know how and why they built their country. and yes, As for you tpia! You have a tendency of always wanting to be right. its always stupid people who say this. |

Mpele: The thing is most South Africans don't see anything that Africa can offer to them. Yes we're African, but most South Africans have never been to other African countries. I blame the education system and our government to an extent to this. Your elemantary school kids up to the Universities are not taught anything about the African culture. That's why if you ask most South Africans on what is the capital of Ghana they wont even answer you. If you can ask them on what is the capital of Australia you'll get a straight answer from them. The reason for this is that for e.g our Sporting codes have forged ralationships with Australia and New Zealand when coming to sports, as the three countries are part of the southern hemisphere. With sports we've managed to gorge relations with Australia and New Zealand.
Why don't we do the same with Africa. Sports always play that role of bringing people together. Our Universities have student exchange programmes with the Canadian. European, Brazillian and American universities. Why don't we do the same with African countries, so that we can learn from each other. These stereotypes of saying Nigerians are noisy, South Africans arrogant etc, will never end.
Another thing that make South Africans to dislike most African foreigners is that most Africans have the sense of entitlement and most of them are cocky. One thing I've realised about South Africans is that most of them are untrusting of strangers, they're also short tempered and always quick to react. South Africans generally don't have a problem with North Africans as when the're in the country they always behave. East Africans are always well behaved. The reason why Zimbabwean and Mozambiquans are hated is the fact that they commit the most crime. Do you know that the most wanted criminal of the last two years was a Mozambiquan guy. Most people don't even know that Lucky Dube was killed by Mozambiquan thugs.
Just imagine if a Ghanaian national can kill a popular musician in Nigeria. Surely knowing Nigerians, I think the would be a Ghanaian backlash. Thats human nature. Its very annoying the way you always try to rewrite history, as if people are unaware of the issues in South Africa. The practice of necklacing in south Africa- was this also done by "African foreigners"? Stop presenting yourselves as if your blacks are better than other blacks just because whites decided to migrate there. If you're black, you're black and no amount of kowtowing to whites will change your color. You have no positive awareness in any way, of the black experience. To you, everything black is negative negative negative, and you're trying to pretend you only have this attitude towards foreign Africans. You're so fake, not to mention transparent. And a fop. Need I ask again why its so important to you to get validation from Nigerians. As so many have asked you before. Are you not getting any recognition from fellow south Africans? |
