Bkayyy: That is how you know a great nation. A great nation like the igbos must have all manner of characters so that it will make it difficult for them to go into oblivion. Seriously Mr ikwerre tell me one good thing that has been done by an ikwerre and don't blame it on your size, size doesn't equate might And don't bother asking me the same question because I can list even the best, the good, the bad, the ugly and the ugliest done by great igbo sons and daughters throughout the history of earth That is the more reason you should form your Biafra with your kind and leave others that don't share your idea of a great nation alone. With your idea of a great nation, I am sure your definition of "good thing" will be different from that of an Ikwerre. |

Chidecmail: This idiat might be a tenant in an igbo man's house even in his so called lkwerre land. Your more of a bigger fool cuz You speak igbo language and answer their names. On the other hand the igbos are only asking you to drop their names and pick up your Benin coloration. People get their names for different reasons. I met a man not long ago from Eleme and his last name was Igwe. During our interaction, he told me his family is big and that the name 'Igwe' came about because his great great great grandfather didn't have a Male child for a long time and was desperate. He had an Igbo trade partner who then took him to a shrine in Igboland called Igwekala. So he promised the shrine that if he is able to bear a Male child with the visit, he would name him after the shrine. Not long afterward, one of his wives got pregnant and gave him a Male child whom he named after the shrine in fulfillment of his vow. I am sure if any of you happen to meet an Eleme person bearing 'Igwe' as last name, you'll come here and open a thread with the heading "ELEME PEOPLE ARE IGBOS!" "THEY ARE IGBOPHOBIC!" "THEY HATE IGBOS!" |

omazus: Was the fight about Ojukwu's character or about liberating Biafrans from the deadly clutch of death which Nigeria represents for his people at the time. His character is also a contributor to the reasons he failed. It's Africans that think that someone's character and leadership ability, must be separated and, that is why the society is backward. In developed world, your character is seriously scrutinized once you are a leader or show interest in leadership. |

This place caught my attention. Even his family wasn't in support of his fight against Biafra. He actually did write somewhere that he was almost the only ogoni person fighting for Nigeria at some point during the war. This should tell you The federal forces made use of largely young and naive saboteurs from the minority who didn't represent the opinion of their people. Were there no Igbos that supported Nigeria? Do you people ever acknowledge the contributions made by the non Igbos who supported Biafra or you label all non Igbos as saboteurs while pretending like all Igbos supported Biafra. Why do you not call Igbos saboteurs the way you call other tribes when you had divergent views across the board? |

This was why Ojukwu made sure he saw him on the eve of his execution, at about 5pm, and told him the historic "GOOD MORNING SARO" But did the living ones learn? majority of his kinsmen and ikwerre, neighbours, and the so Called South South in general, are still deep in that slumber! which is why you see some arguing unecessarily about Biafra. Do your Biafra and leave the "so called South South" alone. The situation would have been worst if Biafra had succeeded under Ojukwu with the arrogance and greedy nature of the Igbos. I was not born before the war but I followed him closely, listened to his utterances and watched his conducts Ojukwu would have been one of the worst dictators on earth and would have killed countless number of people with different views and opinions. He was very arrogant and selfish. I have met some people from Nnewi who are happy that Biafra failed because, even when he came back and before the Bianca issue, he busied himself sleeping about with married women and breaking homes. Ojukwu was very close to Abacha which made Abacha release his family properties seized by the federal government to him. A selfless leader would have told Abacha that unless he releaesed the properties of other Igbos that were also seized and compensate the Biafran soldiers, he would not accept. Ojukwu did not mind but was even sidelining his own siblings. Faced with two evils, Ken Saro-Wiwa made the better choice. May his soul rest in Peace. |

DonXavi: Ken Saro Wiwa represents the exact mentality of some misguided political leader from the Niger Delta - very short-sighted and bigoted to the point of stupidity.
From fighting Igbos, he went to fight Ijaws, then proceeded to fighting his “cousins” which led to his execution...
From fighting for “one Nigeria”, he proceeded to fight for Rivers state, and embarked on fighting for “PortHarcourt” state...
In all these fights, he never fought the Nigerian Military (dominated by Northerners) or the Northern tribes who were actually controlling the oil money...and who finally executed him.
He’s a foolish man, indeed. Also, Ikwerre people don’t do money rituals even with their family members including their parents so that they get chieftaincy titles and start moving about with some quality Igbo touts. If u don't extradite this woman, u re encouraging other looters that stealing and running abroad is the surest way to escape the long arms of d law catching u! If you like change the "rumu" back to "umu", you are still inconsequential.
God bless the obigbo and egbema who still maintain their igbo heritage. Ikwerre people don't deny Igbo as if they have plague. Ikwerre people saying they are not Igbo is because they know their history and doesn't translate to hating Igbo as most of you interpret it even though in your hearts you don't see Ikwerre people as real Igbos. Many Ikwerre men and even women are married to Igbos and you can not marry the daughter of someone you hate or your enemy no matter how beautiful she is. But the attitude and utterances of most of you are extremely hostile and insulting just because one is not accepting the tag of being an Igbo. vicenzo: Yes! Because some of us realized long ago that these groups have nothing really game changing to offer SE in Nigeria and post Nigeria. We figured out that the more you try to argue these things with them, the more they get a feeling and false sense of importance.
We also figured out that these groups especially the Ikwerre are only going to be a liability to us as far as our long term objectives are concerned. Now I am not going to say why we think so here. But I will let you figure it out yourself.
Let me ask you?
What would Ikwerre accepting they are Igbo do for Ndiigbo?
They don't have quality human resources in Ikwerreland.
Their crude oil is about the least in quantity in Rivers state. Its meagre They don't have sea access, as you would still need to pass through Ijaw controlled rivers to get to the Atlantic from Ikwerreland. An option we already have at Obuaku Ndoki Abia state.
Ikwerre has only one modern city, PH, which is shaping into another Jerusalem, because they now share this city with Okirika, who are aligned to Izons. Post Nigeria disintegration, PH will burn from clashes between the two if they don't find a common ground. Ph on its,own is a third world city not better than what we have in.SE which we share with no one. Do we really what to be involved with Ikwerre mess in PH when we can devote our time and effort at better things?
I see nothing to gain from Ikwerre and other Igbo denials by Ndiigbo. Really nothing. If I have my way,all Ikwerre persons would all be banned and expelled from all Igbo associations, whether they accept Igbo tag or not. And open hate directed towards them as a retaliation whenever they exhibit Igbophobia, by orientation of our people towards such goal. All this gibberish is because Ikwerre people told you that they are not Igbo. You can not force your identity on a people who know their history, just because of your Biafra agenda. It will not work! If not being Igbo means hating Igbo in your own interpretation, does that not make you stupid? Ikwerre does not have human resources so tell me, what is your definition of human resources? Is it Doctors, lawyers, engineers, governors, vice chancellors, professors, judges or what that you can't find in Ikwerreland? Ikwerre as small as they are, have produced two National presidents of the Nigerian Bar Association yet they don't have human resources? It shows how chronically daft you are. The only human resources I agree with you that the Ikwerre people don't have are drug peddlers to Thailand and Vietnam who later start crying 'I am not proud to be a Nigerian' when they get caught, Ikwerres can't boast of drug rats in the streets of Malaysia and South Africa, 419 etc. Ikwerre people also dont do money rituals so that they can get chieftaincy titles and move about with touts. Yes it's all about your Biafran agenda and not genuine conviction that Ikwerre is Igbo. You need a platform to keep you attached with the South South. You don't want to be in Nigeria but want to force yourself on the minorities because you feel you'll be in a position to do what you are accusing the northerners of doing and even worse. All those people you mentioned should also decide who they are and where they want to belong. Countries are not formed strictly by lumping the same ethnicity under one umbrella. Luxembourg, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Belgium and some other European countries still have native French and Germans but they are in different countries. Start your Biafra with your 5 Eastern states or even a few local government areas first then when you turn it to your Dubai as you claim, the rest of Nigeria and not just the South South will beg you to join. |

Afam4eva: It will not be strange because even though we think Ikwerre is Igbo, they don;t think they are. So, such association is meant to unite both sides that are not united at the moment. Even if Ikwerres agree to be Igbo, being Igbo will come naturally to them because they've drifted for too long. I'm neither referring to culture or traditional but more with socialization. I like your civility. Many prominent Ikwerre people also belong to that association like the former Chief judge Justice Iche Ndu, former deputy governor Late Frank Eke, Emmanuel Aguma etc, but the fact is that, most members of that association also hold the strong view that Ikwerre is not Igbo even more than those with no Igbo connection. |

kingzizzy: So what is the difference between someone from Umuahia and some from Diobu in Ikwerre? They both speak Igbo and have Igbo surnames. If the only difference is denial then what it means that tribe based on acceptance or denial. In other words, if the Umuahia people decide tomorrow that they are not Igbo, then that means they are not. If the Ngwa man of Abia, the Nsukka man of Enugu, the Ezza man of Ebonyi all decide that they are not Igbo, then they are not because the only thing that separates them from Ikwerre is denial.
Being Igbo is not based on denial or acceptance, its all about your ancestral language and ancestral surname. Ikwerre people are just as Igbo as anybody else.
