kollinzgee: My fellow etche , Ikwerre and ika brothers and sisters in this site let me tell you something.if Ikwerre and etche were carved into imo and Abia states we would be be claiming Igbos today.i once hate Igbos with passion because I believe they easily dominate wherever they go and they seem proud however I discover I was only hating on myself .I like digging deep and I found the truth which is we are a different dialects of the Igbo people.
I strongly believe The hatred and denial began during the civil war , because my father told me how ojukwu was conscripting ikwerre and etche children into the army against their parents will. most of the boys never came back home alive maybe they died in combat.he also said they denied being Igbos because they heard how Nigerian soldiers massacred innocent Igbo civilians whenever they conquered any territory So denying Igbos was a way to save their ass because it was a genocidal war lets not let people separate us from our brothers nature will punish us for it. It's more like a North and South Korea thing political borders is just what separates us that's all.I So why do you think they were not carved into Imo and Abia? During the regional government when the Igbos were at the helm of affairs, did they see and treat these people as Igbos? Do your research and find out the atrocities these people suffered in their hands. Till now do they really see you as Igbo if not for their political convenience because they feel it's what gives them the right to say that they must include the South South in their Biafra instead of the true Biafra of the 5 Eastern States. I would suggest that you make effort to convince the rest of your family members to accept being Igbo first before addressing other ethnic groups just based on your experience at Yaba polytechnic. |

Arewa1408: Sowore was given Ministerial appointment i think it's under GEJ. He mentioned it in that with Communications Minister. He was not interested in Ministerial appointment under Buhari, he just wanted good governance. Trust me you don't have a quarter of that guys guts. I live in the USa, i refused to file for citizenship. Its very very hard and difficult. Sowore is my motivation. He refused to file for citizenship after all his years in the USA, you have no idea what that means, it takes someone that has no care for material wealth or all the comfort of this world to do that. I am not in support of Sowore for Presidency in 2019, I am not in support of of Buhari in 2019 either, however, i know you cannot in any way shape or form compare Sowore with thieves and opportunists like Reno Omokri. When you say "I think" it means you are not sure. Believing everything that comes from Sowore means you are very gullible. Check the caliber of people GEJ was appointing and see if Sowore measures with them. Sowore's only known job in the US is "care work" so tell me what contribution he would have made in the SEC meeting where you have the likes of Okonjo-Iweala, Deziani, Adesina etc. I mean top achievers! There are many people even Nigerians that refused to apply for citizenship having lived in the states for so many years. Bash Ali the boxer, is a prominent example. They have their various reasons but trust me, Sowore's reason is far from patriotic. Sowore had a rape case hanging over his head for many years even before he escaped to the US, among other issues. The US will reject his citizenship application. I know people that have renounced their US citizenship for tax purposes so refusing to apply for citizenship is no achievement. My advice to you is to make your decision based on your personal circumstance and not what Sowore says. You call Reno a thief and an opportunist. No evidence of what he has stolen and no explanation of what your " opportunist" implies. My advice. Think for yourself. Stop being gullible and sheepish else you'll get lost and may never find your way back. |

Ndiigbo should no longer suffer this type of people that bring disaffection to our race.
If she is a decendant of a slave dealer, she and her entire family or lineage, should be punished and face the wrath of it. But Dilibe Onyeama from Enugu, the brother to the current foreign affairs minister, said the same thing few weeks back about his grandfather. You can only say what you know and not what others know. Because they know Nigeria is ant-Igbo and want none of the discimination. Collyweed: All the Igbos that have told you that you're not Igbo on this thread are not enough.
You have to cling to a single Igbo person who has never met an Ikwerre man before to say that we are claiming you because of Pitakwa that you are even sharing with Okrika people.
P.S Igbo is an ethnic group not a single tribe. There are many tribes in Igboland (like Isu, Ngwa, Ndoki, Aro, Orotta etc) As such the question of a single origin story for all Igbo is inappropriate. A large percentage of Igbo people don't claim to originate from Nri. I don't even know where you got that assertion from. Now may I ask, Who is an Igbo man? Who or what defines an Igbo man? If an Hausa man moves from Bauchi to settle in Umuahia, at what point in his generation can they become Igbos? Is being Igbo defined by language, ancestral origin or by default of birth location? Thanks. |

IJOBA2: IS VAA EQUALLY THE BENIN WORD FOR COME I know it is for Eshans and some tribe in the Volta region of Ghana that also trace their origin to Idu which is the present day Benin. Ikwerre people do not claim to be Binis but that their ancestors migrated from Benin unlike the Igbos who claim to have their ancestral origin in Ani Nri, Anambra. So their provenance are different. The Igbos know this also but just for the desperation of wanting to claim that Portharcourt belongs to the Igbos that's the reason they are forcing their imagination of seeing Ikwerre people as Igbos. Ikwerre is not Igbo. |

Yujin: You can make your research on what I wrote here. Every contact with an empire surely leaves traces. Even the Igalas contact with old Benin has proofs. The Agaba-Idu, Attah of Igala wears a benin bronze sculpture on his neck till date. Notice the word 'Idu' in his praise name. I'll like to know the meaning of 'Agaba' in Igala language. In Lagos state, the presence of Idu confirms the benin influence too. Idumota, Idumagbo etc. As for Ikwerres, no single shared word with bini. Let me tell you another lexicon that shows cultural influence. In Igbo language, there are two words to refer a warrior or strong man. These words are Odogwu and Dike. Most Igbos in the northern and western parts of Igboland easily use 'Odogwu' while the eastern and southern parts use 'Dike'. The Ikwerres who are in the southernmost part use 'Dike'. Odogwu is not part of their dialectical usage. This is another pointer that they've never had contact with the binis. There are too many pointers to ridicule any of their claim of bini as a place of origin. Why are you masturbating over the decision of the Ikwerre people to tell their story. You tell your history and feel you are also in a position to tell other people there own history as well. The problem most you have is to interpret "I am not Igbo" to mean "I hate Igbos". Go ask your forefathers if and when they have ever regarded Ikwerre as Igbos. Ikwerre people have always had a name that they use in referring to Igbo people because they are not the same. I posted this link where Bianca Ojukwu's brother also traced his family history to Bini but I noticed you guys are all pretending not to have read it. If that interview was by an Ikwerre person, most of you would have started asking for Bini artifacts and pots in Ngwo. Tell your story and let other people tell their's. YakubuAugust: Were Ikwerre's so adamant about their non-Igbo identity before the war? If you must know, it was an Ikwerre man the late Wobidike Wonodi SAN, who at the consultative assembly, asked the question about what would become the fate of the minorities in the scheme of things after the war when Biafra seceded. It was this question among others that actually made some Igbo elders to expose their hidden agenda towards the minorities should Biafra secede with some even making statements like "who the hell are the minorities?". This led some folks to begin to rethink their support for Biafra. If Ikwerre people are Igbos, Wonodi wouldn't have asked the question but he was asking on behalf of the minorities in the Eastern region. In any case, it's on record that the Igbos did not treat Ikwerre people as Igbos when they were running the show. The few Ikwerre people that had things going for them is either their mother was Igbo or they are married to Igbo. |

Collyweed: The answer to your poser is very simple.
After their tortuous and traumatic journey from Benin, they lost their Edoid language and then spent the next few years without a language, only communicating by means of sign language and grunts. This made some uncharitable fellows christen them ihoriho (meaning foolish).
This state of affairs continued until a kind (and patient) woman from Ohaji in present day Imo State took pity on them and taught them the Ohaji dialect which is why Ikwerre is so similar to the Ohaji dialect. Clap for yourself! Your world class stupidity will now make the Ikwerre people to change their history to suit your Igbo narrative. |

gartamanta: Stop talking like a fool. The Ikwerre girl in the video was asked what "come" is in the Ikwerre language and said it is "Bia". If you were asked which people say bia as come, you would have said Igbo. What is the difference between Nsukka people, Abiriba people, Ngwa people and Ikwerres people. They speak the same language, have the same surnames and practice the same culture. Thats why they are all known as "Igbos"
There is no difference between an Ikwerre man and anyone from the South East except denials. If denial is how someone is identified as Igbo then it means that the Nsukka, Abiriba and Ngwa man can stop being Igbo any time they like just by denying it. If 'bia' is your evidence of being igbo, you should realize that some Ikwerre actually say 'vaa' for come, same as the Eshan, Ga in Ghana and some tribes that have traced their origin to idu. |

Igboid: Which Bianca Ojukwu brother? You mean Ngwo people in Enugu are from Idu? You don't know what you are talking about.
By the way, Idu is the name Ndiigbo call ancient Igbodomigodo, which was a cosmopolitan multicultural center with Igbo speaking people living in it as well. So did Igbos migrate from Nri to Igodomigodo? The Igbo people that I know that identify more with igodomigodo and their bini origin are the Onitsha people. A lot of tribes migrated from there during the great war even all the way to Ghana. Regarding Bianca Ojukwu's brother, I think he was talking about his family and not the whole of Ngwo but it reflects the migratory origin of most inhabitants of that area.
