You could easily get your answer by finding out if they ever claimed or were accepted as Igbo before what you call anti-Igbo began. At least the Igbos were running the show in the old Eastern region, were they counted among the Igbos then? I don't even want to go into the ill treatment they suffered under the Igbos because that is a topic for another time.

P.S Igbo is an ethnic group not a single tribe. There are many tribes in Igboland (like Isu, Ngwa, Ndoki, Aro, Orotta etc) As such the question of a single origin story for all Igbo is inappropriate. A large percentage of Igbo people don't claim to originate from Nri. I don't even know where you got that assertion from.

Now may I ask,
Who is an Igbo man?
Who or what defines an Igbo man?
If an Hausa man moves from Bauchi to settle in Umuahia, at what point in his generation can they become Igbos?
Is being Igbo defined by language, ancestral origin or by default of birth location? Thanks.

I have not seen the video you are talking about but like I said vaa is come for some, and bia for some others. Ikwerre has different dialects. Have you been to Emohua, Ndele, Rumuji, Ogbakiri etc? Even the 'bia' is pronounced differently by different Ikwerre tribes that use it.

The Igbos know this also but just for the desperation of wanting to claim that Portharcourt belongs to the Igbos that's the reason they are forcing their imagination of seeing Ikwerre people as Igbos. The Agaba-Idu, Attah of Igala wears a benin bronze sculpture on his neck till date. Notice the word 'Idu' in his praise name. I'll like to know the meaning of 'Agaba' in Igala language. Most Igbos in the northern and western parts of Igboland easily use 'Odogwu' while the eastern and southern parts use 'Dike'. The Ikwerres who are in the southernmost part use 'Dike'. Odogwu is not part of their dialectical usage. This is another pointer that they've never had contact with the binis. There are too many pointers to ridicule any of their claim of bini as a place of origin.

Why are you masturbating over the decision of the Ikwerre people to tell their story. You tell your history and feel you are also in a position to tell other people there own history as well. The problem most you have is to interpret "I am not Igbo" to mean "I hate Igbos". Go ask your forefathers if and when they have ever regarded Ikwerre as Igbos. Ikwerre people have always had a name that they use in referring to Igbo people because they are not the same.

It was this question among others that actually made some Igbo elders to expose their hidden agenda towards the minorities should Biafra secede with some even making statements like "who the hell are the minorities?". This led some folks to begin to rethink their support for Biafra. If Ikwerre people are Igbos, Wonodi wouldn't have asked the question but he was asking on behalf of the minorities in the Eastern region. In any case, it's on record that the Igbos did not treat Ikwerre people as Igbos when they were running the show. The answer to your poser is very simple.

After their tortuous and traumatic journey from Benin, they lost their Edoid language and then spent the next few years without a language, only communicating by means of sign language and grunts. This made some uncharitable fellows christen them ihoriho (meaning foolish).

This state of affairs continued until a kind (and patient) woman from Ohaji in present day Imo State took pity on them and taught them the Ohaji dialect which is why Ikwerre is so similar to the Ohaji dialect.

There is no difference between an Ikwerre man and anyone from the South East except denials. If denial is how someone is identified as Igbo then it means that the Nsukka, Abiriba and Ngwa man can stop being Igbo any time they like just by denying it.

If 'bia' is your evidence of being igbo, you should realize that some Ikwerre actually say 'vaa' for come, same as the Eshan, Ga in Ghana and some tribes that have traced their origin to idu.
