Nigerian police at it again |
Freezby2020:Your opinion is irrelevant and you have limited information. If every itsekiri were to be a Christian, then no one should cry over the king singing worship songs. Right now, the king is the "spiritual head" of the itsekiris . which means ,he is automatically the leader of every diety they worship.. He represent them. Even the so called witches and wizards. He is their father too. Can a man worship two masters at the same time and serve them equally well. It would excite any Christian that a traditional African king is singing praise worship to Jesus. But it is all make believe. And I tell you. He knows it. If he wants to eradicate any so called fetish practices, the best place to begin the fight is in a church and not sitting on an ancestral stool. His father who was a king before tried to but failed. The itsekiris are one of the most tradition keeping( don't want to use word, fetish practices) tribe in the whole of Niger delta. You should ask around to confirm this. Just enjoy the show he is putting up and mind your business. |
Ancecoker po6st=105053975:Yes ,I dey there gidigba |
Eradicate which fetish practices? Don't be fooled by the singing of worship songs. Sitting on that throne symbolizes something. Do you know what it is? And do you know that he had to perform a lot of what you term fetish practices before he could be crowned? |
Afromentalist:OK, I have been wondering why you stopped teaching us.. Now I understand jJust stay warm. The cold won't last long and I hope you find the time to continue what you started here Thanks |
Afromentalist:Thanks. Long time.Where have you been? |
soulsearcher112:Since you're a Christian, I would use the Bible that you believe in to explain further so you understand better. Your Bible tells you , what you sow is what you reap. That is a fact of the world we live in. It is a world of sowing and reaping without which nothing happens. If you go to school and study very well , (sowing) you end up educated (reaping) If you eat a balanced diet ( sowing) you become healthy( reaping) If you lie too much ( sowing) after a time people around you no longer trust you or what you say and may avoid you( reaping) If you dress anyhow (sowing) people treat you with disrespect ( reaping) So whatever you do there's a " reward" attached to it. Your thinking is not an exception. If you think the right thoughts you reap positivity ,the wrong thoughts negativity. I would give you an instance in the Bible which a lot of Christians read but never truly understand. The woman who had issues with blood ,said to herself, if I could touch the helm of his garment, I would be made whole" And when she did touch the garment, she was made whole. Who heal her ? J Jesus? No Jesus was not happy that someone touch his garment and meaning he didn't even know what was happening until the woman confessed she did. And Jesus told her , "your faith (not himself) as made you whole" That story is powerful illustration of the power of thoughts or believe. It is the woman's believe that worked for her. So it is the same when you believe strongly in the power of witches and wizards ,it becomes your reality and you reap it. Most Christians or religious people believe more in the power of witches to harm them than in the power of Jesus or god to save them. Hence they are afraid of ravelling to their villages and even you that's running away from your mother and siblings The power of witchcraft lies in believe. Only a few witchcraft practitioner knows this and would be willing to admit it. The not too knowledgeable ones amongs them are not aware and cannot explain why their craft fails most of the time. What you're going through is not because you or your circumstances is different but because of what you believe. And most times such belief is imbedded in your subconscious without you being aware it is there wrecking havoc. You unconsciously pick up these beliefs by associating with those who believe in such things or when you seek help from those who practice witchcraft who even pose as men of god or prophet I know ifrom my own experience how difficult it is to accept all I have explained and change your mindset. The reason is because you live amongst people who think like you and help to reinforce those ideas in your mind. You have even demonstrated this on the thread you created. You have taken to the advice of those who help to confirm further what you already believe. Witchcraft is a false reality. It is powered by irrational fear When one does not know how to swim ,the person is afraid of any large body of water and may develop a phobia for it and would now start avoiding rivers and even swimming in the pool . Fear can lead to drowning . When the person who is afraid of large body of water suddenly finds himself or herself in a river or pool of water , the thinking faculty becomes crippled and the person stars to act irrationally which may result in drowning.. Science explains that the mind can malfunction due to fear which leads to irrational behavior . But the fear of water is subjective , meaning it is not real, since others who can swim are not afraid to get in the same water that you're afraid of . The water is not the problem but the person himself who does not know how to swim. To remove the fear of water, you learn how to swim and not by running away. You may have developed a phobia already which may require professional help.. Before thinking spiritual, maybe you should start from there for solution. Any kind of phobia can affect you in ways that can stop you from preforming to the best of your ability and when results dont come as expected ,the superstitious starts thinking witchcraft or juju The advice to face my fears ( eating and drinking with my "enemies"worked since I was now doing things against what I have come to fear. This changed my thinking.Your actions can influence your thinking. The physical can influence the spiritual Anyone who is versed in witchcraft would tell you that witches derive their power from fear or projecting fear into your mind. That's how they can harm you. If you show fear ,then you're easy meat. If you run away or pray against them out of the believe they can harm you ,then you have opened the door for them to throw their illusion at you thereby hurting you. The solution is not to do anything . Just dismiss the thought completely from your mind. Results may take time to manifest due to the fact that you have held the belief for a long time and it is already part of your programming. But if you persists ,changes would surely come and finally freedom. It was how I helped myself in the past . But do you even know that you can be your own witch hurting yourself Yes, most people are their own witch through wrong thinking. If you strongly believe that witches are after your life when they are not, your mind would start creating it and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Believe what you want. In the end life we would always teach us better. Have a wonderful day |
@ Op, Your mother is not the source of your problem but yourself. I know it is difficult to accept but it is the truth. More than 20 years ago , I found myself in similar situation as yours and decided to run away from those whom I thought where responsible for what I was going through . But things did not approve .It got worse and was on the brink of suicide until help came from a spiritually advanced soul who advised me to go back home and live ,eat and drink with those whom I thought were responsible for my problems. He told me that fear is my problem and running away would not solve the problem fear can bring. I should face my fears and that nothing can happen to me accept I allow it. I did not understand at first all he said but I knew he said the truth because at that time I was truly afraid. Afraid to sleep at night, afraid I would drop down dead and all kinds of fear. Later ,when things did not improve I decided to take the man's advice and travel back from Lagos back to delta state to face my fears and see what would happen. When I got back home ,the first thing I did was to make sure I visit all the people I wrongly identify as witches. I eat whatever they brought for me and also drank anything given. Nothing happened. In fact during that period one of them assisted me to get a job and other assistance too. Later went to the university, through the help and advice by some of the same persons I ran away from, graduated after some years searched for a job for some years and now gainfully employed. This is my story and decided to tell it not only to you but for others too who have been misled or still been misled by fake spiritualist ,prophets and others. Here it is ,anyone who tells you that your mother or anyone else is the source of your problem is your greatest enemy. They tell you that to trap you so you depend on them for solution. Immediately you accept the lie ,then your downfall begins. Why is this so? The reason is simple. The human mind is extremely powerful .It can create effect from whatever you accept as truth. So ,if any one tells you that your mother is your problem and you accept it whether it is true or not ,your mind would start to create things to sabotage whatever you do to succeed in life. Until you free yourself from that thought, nothing would change. We live in the part of the world where we are constantly told that external circumstances ( witches and wizards) are responsible for our problems and it has become part of our reality. Whatever we now experience is due to this false reality we are immersed in . The only way to get out of it ,is when we stop listening to people who tells us those lies and start filling our minds with more empowering beliefs. Once you do those , you start to free yourself until you attain complete freedom from fear of witches and wizards and their influence. If you accept the reality of witches, your life will then flow in accordance with that. Even prayer cannot save you. Whatever solutions you think you get through prayers would not last .It would only be temporary and the problem would keep coming . The reason is because there is a wrong thought imbedded in your subconscious mind that will continue to nullify whatever prayers you do or any solution you apply. If you don't eradicate that , there won't be permanent changes. I am a living proof of all the things I have advised. I go to my village without any fear. Don't get my wrong. There are people who practice witchcraft but they have no power to hurt or harm you accept you give them the permission to do so. And you give them the permission ,once you believe that they have power over you. It is unfortunate you met the wrong people who have distorted your reality . No sincere spiritualist that I know of would ever tell you that you're under a curse or that you mother is responsible for your problem. Those who tell those lies want to put you in bondage of constantly coming back to them for prayers or others. Those who can really "see" would do things to make your life move forward or give you proper advice on the right decisions to take to move your life forward.. They won't tell you "things" So reach out to your mother and apologize for the neglect and your siblings too. If at the moment, you can't be of help, let them know. They would come to accept it and even pray for things to improve for you. Nothing can happen to you if you don't allow it. |
Non is superior livingchrist:Non is superior to each other. Your indoctrination makes you think otherwise. Muslims can also identify things in Christianity which makes it inferior to Islam. The reason is because every religion is man made and non can be perfect. Instead of finding faults in other religious groups, focus on your own and practice it to the best of your ability. If those watching while you practice ,realises that your religion has made you a better person, they may want join you to find out what has changed you. Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. |
Kobojunkie:It is an issue because it has to do with indoctrination which keeps one stuck. Maybe you don't care. But for me ,I know that following the truth, even when I cannot figure out immediately where it would lead to , would always end in freedom. Lies( indoctrination) keep you stuck and prevents you from evolving as a human being. The choice is yours You have not giving any direct answer to any of the questions asked. The first thing you did was to refer me to an article written by a writer with an obvious bias for the subject matter and you think it would be enough. That did not work and your latest strategy is to hide under what Jesus instructed or did not instruct. Your latest defense, sorry to say is both childish and criminal. It is what children and adults do to escape punishment after doing what they know they are not suppose to do. A child pleads, "mummy please don't flog me, I did it because you didn't tell me not to" An adult that is supposed to know better urinates openly in a public park and when confronted, he pleads ignorance and says, "oh I did not see a "do not urinate here" sign. "No one told me not to urinate here" I dont know where and when it has ever happened , for someone in their right senses to completely abandon their original name in their own language for a translated version of the same name in another language. And not only that ,the same person would also agree to answer to whatever translation of that same name in several languages at the same time. Who does that? Did Yeshua instruct you to call him with a translated version of his name? Oh, because he has not said anything concerning the name, then you assume you're at liberty to do whatever you like. If he were to appear in your room right now ,and ask why choose to call him Jesus instead of Yeshua, what would be your reply? Would you insist on Jesus instead of Yeshua in that instance? We should not throw away common sense just because we want to defend the untruth. None is sure whether a being called Yeshua ever existed. An Israeli I know says no one like that. But if it is true he ever existed, then he can never be the same as Jesus which is roman creation. |
Kobojunkie:If you don't want anyone to quote you, then why did you take it upon yourself to instruct us on what you think Jesus would want concerning his name. Would Jesus while alive accept to be called by a translated version of his name and also instruct his disciples to do likewise? kobo, everyone is susceptible to indoctrination. Myself included. The reason is because we can't know it all at any point in our lives. Everyone uses shortcuts to learn things we can't possibly learn on our own. But in the process we stand the risk of learning things which are not true and when that happens ,we become indoctrinated and then act accordingly. The major problem with being indoctrinated is that an indoctrinated person lack the awareness to know that he or she is operating under indoctrination and would do everything to defend the lie or misinformation as truth. Psychological studies have confirm this. Fortunately for us as humans, life always present us with the opportunity to free ourselves from whatever lies we have been told. Yes always. That moment comes when our indoctrination starts to work against our best interest and it is at this point that some choose, unfortunately, to fiercely defend whatever lies they have come to accept as truth while the bold ones starts to ask questions everything or else they become stuck or even get undone by what rhey have been indoctrinated with. Humanity right now is in the period of questioning in order to know the truth. If you believe it is the right thing to accept the adopted name of your saviour while neglecting his original Hebrew name when common sense dictates that a translated name can't have the same "value" as the original, then I have nothing further to say other than to accept your decision. |
Kobojunkie:I choose bros j since you say Christ has not issued any command concerning his name. That's how I will from now henceforth call him and if anyone on this forum accuses me of disrespect to the savoir, I would quote you to defend me. |
Kobojunkie:If that's the case ,why the Greek version and not the one translated into your own language? The Op already suggested Bros j . Why don't you pray with that or what would be wrong if anyone choose to? If you only do what Jesus asked you to do , I doubt you would be on the Internet having this conversation with me. |
Kobojunkie:Please spare the sermon. This is the main issue. What is the justification for abandoning the original Hebrew name, Yeshua, for the translated version in Greek, despite the fact that the Hebrew language from which it was translated from has not gone extinct? Would you as a human being abandon your original name in your local language if it is translated into another that you're not even familiar with and then ask your friends and family to accept the new? I doubt if you would. And if you would not, why do you think you can out of your own whims and capricises adopt a translated version in place of the original name presumely given by a Divine being to his only begotten son and you think it doesn't matter ? |
Kobojunkie:So , an article written by someone with an obvious bias for Christianity is what you think would answer the question objectively? The choice of words and expression used by the writer is revealing of her religious inclination . There were weak attempts to rationalise it all in order to make people not see the issue as anything serious. That was disingenous of her. You should know that the opinion expressed in the article has nothing to do with Newsweek as organization. They have a disclaimer to articles like the one you're referencing That aside, nothing in it is reasonable enough to justify why the original Hebrew name has been abandoned. Maybe you're yet to get me. Let me put it in a way that would be clear to you. If you were part of the early Christian group that refer to the savior as Yeshua, would you agree to adopt the new name in Greek when get to know that it has been translated? What would be your reason if you choose to? As for the last question, my apologies. I never really checked that one very well. But our focus should be on Yeshua/ Jesus |
Anyone who claims to have received miracle money from God through the banking system in this time and age is not only without common sense but is also a thief. Sadly ,some so called mog( apostle Suleiman, one of them) are preaching miracle money to their congregation. One can only start to think of miracle money when the source cannot be traced in anyway. But we all know that's not possible in this modern banking era |
If the name Yeshua is the real name in Hebrew, then it would mean that early Christians knew of no other name by which the savior was called. They certainly did not call him Jesus. Now the question is, why has modern day Christians chosen to call the savior ,Jesus, instead of Yeshua despite the fact that the original Hebrew language from which the name was translated from is still being spoken in the world today? If the Bible was immediately translated into Greek during the time of the early Christians , who spoke Hebrew, do we imagine that they would have adopted the name, Jesus, while abandoning the original Hebrew name entirely just like modern day Christians ? Another question , why is there no translation of the names of other biblical characters into Greek except that of Yeshua? |
Kobojunkie:We should not use our personal circumstances to determine how others should live their lives. Not everyone can afford a chef and everyone would not be rich. There are women who would never entertain the idea of their husbands employing a chef to take over from them. They would ask the husband if he has not been enjoying the cooking hence the sudden decision to employ someone else. Kobo , you're not ready to to see things from another standpoint other than yours. A woman who loves cooking and can cook very well would not even consider it as something she is being forced to do. The thought would not cross her mind at all. Whether it's the norm or not is not her concern She would take pride in doing so for the rest of her life ,especially if she is a full time housewife |
Kobojunkie:Not everyone would make an issue out of it if the wife can't cook. So what's the problem? |
Kobojunkie:Who says women must cook till they drop dead? |
Kobojunkie:My comment is a reaction to the pastor's |
This would appeal to women who are very bad cooks. From my own experience, a woman who knows how to cook very well, would not want to stop cooking for her household for any reason, especially if she has the time . Such women, no matter their busy schedule, would try to find some time to cook. They are not doing it because it is what they must do as married women , but simply because they love and enjoy what they do and also because of the ego boosting praises they get from their husbands. This makes them feel loved and appreciated. Unfortunately, women who can really cook very well are hard to find these days. The ones we have now are mostly terrible cooks who can't take the criticism they get from their husbands. The pastor is playing to the gallery in order to tell some persons what they would love to hear and see happen. What is wrong with a woman cooking for the rest of her life if she has the time, enjoys it and it also gives her happiness? My late grandmother was still struggling to cook despite her frail condition. She would not want anyone to stop her doing what she loved doing |
HellVictorinho:Called and messaged you already. No response from you |
HellVictorinho:I already sent you a pm some days ago but no response from you |
I don't believe the Ops story is exactly true. We have not been told the exact situation and the reason , I think, is so that the so called mother and those who know her would not stumble on the story here to get to know what the Op's friend is planning to do. I have seen this same situation before and this is what I think the true situation is. The so call mother is not the real mother but the step mother . It is either the father already had the son from another woman before getting married to the step mother or had him with another woman after he, the father, was desperate to get a male child that would "continue" from him after death. Which ever the case, now that the father is late, the son has now come around to use tradition to force the step mother out so as ro inherite the house and his willing to do anything to achieve his aim and does not care whatever drastic measures used since the stepmother is not his real mother He obviously does not have a good relationship with the step mother probably because the woman herself is not happy to not to have given birth to a male child for her late husband and already has been expecting that a day would come when the son would come to a stake a claim to what rightfully belongs to him due to tradtion. If this the true situation, as I think, the friend of the op should be very careful. That woman would do anything, I mean anything to ensure she is not ejected from her late husband's house . |
Judybash93:Your dad could take it but not your mum the reason you have not informed her In the case of the Op ,the dad is a devoted Christian who is emotional about his Christian beliefs. Hence the constant phone calls for his son to pray So you personal circumstances and that of the Op are not the same. He cannot apply your advice |
@Op, I dont see how it can ever be polite to tell your parents while you still live with them that you're leaving religion. Even when you move away and start to live alone, t's still not a wise decision to let your dad know. Religious beliefs in this part of the world is something that most people emotionally hold on to. Except you don't have regard and consideration for your dad, you just might end up breaking his heart with your decision . Responsible people consider how their decision might affect others around them before acting. You seem not to care and one wonders why? Is it because of the things you have been reading here and elsewhere from persons whose personal circumstances you don't really know? If you were married with kids already and your wife a devoted Christian, what decision would you have taken if you then decided to stop praying? Divorce her and also abandoned your kids to leave alone so they don't disturb you? My mother , when she was alive , was a devoted Christian and each time I go to visit her ,she always drown me with prayers . She doesn't know I no longer go to any church. Why would I, during those times , except something was wrong with me, ever consider letting her know what I now believe and also asking her to stop praying for me? In Africa ,the family unit is a close knit one where everyone look out for each other. Whatever decisions you make and whatever affects you is felt by everyone within the family circle. So you should consider the disharmony you might introduce into your family circle with what you intend to do. Apply common sense and know that your family might not be ready for what you intend to do at this time or in the future. Anyway, I don't think you can handle the outcome. You're just bluffing. |
HellVictorinho:Please erase some of the too personal things you have written about yourself. You don't need to reveal all about yourself to get help. . |
budaatum:The sheepies are not interested in reading to know for themselves but are only interested in obeying instructions of those whom they think know better than them |
budaatum:Exactly why we have so many persons who appears to be walking through life with their closed and with the hope that at then of it all, they would step into heaven just like that without understanding how they got there. |
budaatum:How many so called Christians would be willing to see your point? |
Dtruthspeaker:It is either you don't know your religion or you trying to rationalise the inconsistency in it with your reply. Christianity tells us that only Jesus can save . Nothing more and nothing less. The individual cannot do it alone. In fact it is impossible. But if you now say that it depends on the individual to change, then you imply no one needs Jesus to change . Then what would be the point of preachers going about telling people to give their lives to Christ so that with the coming of the holy spirit, the old ways suddenly pass away and everything becomes new? Do you see it now? |
