Christianity EtcRe: Is The Soul Immortal ? by triplechoice(m): 8:12pm On Sep 24, 2018

.

I have done my research on this topic ( as to whether the soul is immortal ) , and what i found out is evidently affirmed by the Wikipedia's "Soul in the Bible" article.
Shalom.
Wikipedia cannot be relied upon for any serious research.. Anyone can place anything on that site. Anyway, it does not matter for me how you choose to conduct your research
There are certain ideas and experiences that cannot be fully expressed in words. You may think you have understood them just by reading the words in which they are expressed, but it is only when you have a direct experience of what they describe that you fully capture or get to understand better. That is why in schools we have theory and then practicals for a complete understanding
An idea as complex as the human soul is not what you can understand just by reading it up in a few sentences
You have been made to believe that the idea of the immortality of the soul has its origin from the ancient Greeks . That is certainly not true. Here in Africa, our forefathers also share in such belief

. I can tell you from my own personal experience and that of others who have similar experiences that the idea of man having an immortal soul goes beyond belief. .
I know you rest on Genesis account of how man was created from dust as a validation for your argument Unfortunately, I do not completely see the Bible in the way I know you have come to see it. If you remember Joshua commanding the sun to stand still, then you should understand that the Bible writers were people who had a limited understanding of the world as at that time.. Do you believe the sun stood still during that period?

. Was man created from sand? Of course we now know that a new born baby is predominantly made of water . was there a time water covered the surface of the earth? If you are not destitute of the knowledge of geography you should know, that it is not possible for water to cover the surface of the earth.

In the context of the Bible it all happened but in reality they did not.

Yes, man does not possess a soul. Man is soul encased in a body

It is not logically advisable to use hard paper to wipe one's butt but people have the right to do so. My topic is not about what you deem civilised or not, it's about people's rights.

People also have the right to react if the find your behaviour offensive. You cannot stop them from doing so . Except you live in Jupiter, you should know, from experience, how people on earth take certain issues if not why should any be bothered by your personal fantasies

@red
It might be barbaric and crude but do they have the right to use hard paper to wipe their ass? Yes! And they shouldn't be forced to do otherwise or be punished for doing so. The rights are the only focus of my topic.

Yes, they have the right to do so provided it is done in the right location. But if they choose to record it and post or even stream it live on Facebook then they should be ready to bear the consequences of their action. In certain climes, they would be tracked and bundled 'rightfully' into an asylum.

@green
Lol grin who asked you? The consequences of their choices is their's to bear if they want to wipe their ass with hard paper. They have the right to wipe their ass with hard paper. Their right to do so, not consequences of doing so, is the only focus of my topic.

Glad to know you still have your sense of humor intact. I was wondering at a point if I was not dealing with a psychopath . I agree the consequences is their's 'to bear and that they are entitled to their rights but as long as they live and interact with other humans who may be overly sensitive to certain issues, then it is my opinion that such rights as you intend to express should simply be mastubated on
@blue
It's not uncivilised to insult and ridicule ideas neither is it uncivilised to call people names. The manner, subjectively, is what determines if it's uncivilised or not. Given the rot which religion has, is and will descend on humanity, it's alright and deserving of religion to have insults and ridicule come it's way.
People love feeling good about themselves but the truth must be told. People who believe in religious claims are being foolish and stupid as far that aspect is concerned and it's not uncivilised to point that out. That's the truth.

I thought you were not concern about the form it should take. I have not mentioned that one should not express their right to criticize and maybe ridicule other people's ideas but there are boundaries you do not cross. You say people who believe in religious claims are foolish? then sorry to say that your naivety has made you not to see that you have been sold a dummy. Religion to me is all pretence. Why should I worry myself over those who do not practice what they preach. There was a time in my life I used to bother myself over religious arguments but not now. I have decided to channel my energies elsewhere.

@purple
Hmm. Are you the weak minded type that shivers at harsh reality and therefore will seeks solace in something(lies or truth) as long as it brings comfort? If you are like that, you have to toughen up for your own good. The correct response to absurd garbages like religion should be a critical scrutiny and analysis of it's claims, debunking where necessary and calling it for what it is. You don't take an idea as valid or respect it simply because it helps you cope--- that's weak mindedness.

Me weak minded? that assessment is wrong. I am not sure you can handle some of the things I have dealt with when it comes to religion.. I do not see religion as completely garbage it has its benefits if you ask me, with what I now know, to choose between religion and atheism, I will go for the former. at least we know from science that religious people live healthier, happier lives even if it is gotten from what we may regard as ignorance. Believe in anything no matter how absurd may lead the way to self discovery

@brown
Oh I see. Happiness of others is more important than the truth, right? By the way, I won't fuel the delusions that has torn mankind apart by giving people tools(bible and quran) to help submerge themselves further in these delusions. It's in the best interest of humanity. Truth is more important than happiness. Truth ensures man takes a realistic outlook and approach to life and taking a realistic outlook and approach to life not only ensures our survival and puts us out of harms way, it ensures an increase in the quality of life(I won't go into details).

Yes, sometimes happiness may come from a lie . It works in two ways. Some persons are not ready for the truth if you try to force it on them it may lead to a dislocation. For such, just let them be. It is just a matter of time they will learn. The only way you can help is share truth by not ridiculing them otherwise you put them on the defensive because it is natural for people to defend what they stand for no matter how absurd. So let them enjoy their 'lie' until when truth opens it's doors for them to walk in. While in the other way, you value truth more only when you have experienced the lie. Sometimes it is advisable to allow people have certain experiences and learn from it. I do not think it is religious books that is tearing mankind apart but rather the insincerity of those hiding under religion to perpetrate evil

@last
If happiness leads to lies and ignorance of truth then it's not worth it. This is true and it's in the best interest of the individual and society.
True happiness does not lead to lies. it is our responsibility to point this out. We should not stop doing this but do it with common sense

So ,the ancient Greeks whose pantheon of gods & goddesses influenced their philosophy & pagan rooted ideas are now your role models & life coach ?

But, triplechoice, are U a Christian, moslem ,atheist or what are your beliefs ,as regards the soul, per se ?

If the Genesis account, is in your words, is "mythical" , also your assertion implies that Jesus Christ is a myth.
I
I only intend to draw your attention to the irony in the op you created

If you know so much about the Greek 's ancient world view, then, except you want to pretend, you should also know that such ideas and beliefs are also found in the Bible. Bible writer's drew extensively from such sources you now term pagan

You can do your own research to confirm this. It will help to expand your religious paradigm.
Christianity EtcRe: My Freedom And Your Feelings. by triplechoice(m): 10:57pm On Sep 17, 2018
I do not think it is civilise behavior to buy a religious book and use it to wipe your anus .It is barbaric and very crude .The abrasive nature of the paper might leave some tear which makes it easy for infection to happen
I am neither an atheist nor a religious person so I understand how it feels when some religious people try to control your behavior because they assume they know what is right for you.As a civilise person you should not respond by disparaging what they believe in even if it seems illogical to you or calling them idiots,stupid, brainless
I think the correct thing is to act in a way that will make the religious person to want find out what keeps you going even when you don't think like them
So Incase you already bought a Bible or the Koran you intend to wipe your anus with,please change your mind and give it out to a neighbor who is either a Christian or Muslim tomorrow morning and see how you are going to bring happiness to somebody s life
We all seek happiness the reason most people search for it in a religion
Christianity EtcRe: Is The Soul Immortal ? by triplechoice(m):
wow!
So,you just with one wave of the hand dismissed a whole of body of Greek philosophical thought on the nature of soul as pagan tradition and out of nowhere presenting us with the mythical account in Genesis as the correct one?
Its obvious you have taken the Genesis story literally because that's what you have been thought and come to accept as truth.

Trust Me Even A Quack Lawyer Will Tear Her Story Into Shreds In Court.She Knew The Right Thing To Do But Chose Not To,is She The First Person To Graduate Abroad.Make I Hea Word
If you go to the NYSC Secretariat in Abuja right now you will see graduate Nigerians from foreign universities who have come either to apply for exemption or to serve

So I just wonder why people are being deceived by the weak reason she gave for not doing the right thing.
She is claiming ignorance now but she knew more than three years ago during her screening for the position of a minister that the NYSC exemption certificate she presented was fake.Those doing the screening told her so and she agreed to a deal with them.Someone aspiring to become a country's finance should have been wary of striking any secret deal with dubious politicians something I am very sure NOI would never accept
It is the subsequent blackmail that led to everything coming out.I am sure she must have learnt her lesson now.I do not really blame her she is just a victim of circumstances.I believe certain persons must have placed undue pressure on her to do what ordinary she would not have done.Now her reputation has been dented

Thank you!!!

People keep screaming Edo. And when I ask them this same question and many other similar questions, they shut up and tell me it is because I haven't seen any yet. The funny thing is that they haven't seen any either.
I was born in edo state.I attended both primary and secondary school there.I never experienced anything witchcraft or anything close to that.So it is amazing to hear from. from some persons who claim Edo is the center of witchcraft activities as if you can see them flying on broomstick in broad daylight.
Maybe the reason for this,are the sacrifices you can. easily find at some road junction.Other than this I have never had any such experience not even my siblings or close friends while growing up there.Although I know of some persons who claim to have experienced it but It was not as common as people describe it
I am sure the Edo people talk about is the one portrayed in nollywood movies

If the situation is still overwhelming for you,then you shoud seek professional help
Ensure it is not from someone who will tell you it is voodoo or witch craft that is responsive
It is very obvious from what you have been posting what your beliefs are
You need to boost your confidence with more empowering beliefs and I think you need someone to help you do just that.
I have gone through the same situation as you can see from my previous post
It was worst than yours but I came out of it and even more stronger than I use to feel
You are seeing cobwebs which only you can see because your mind is creating it or has anyone told you they have seen cobwebs covering your face
You mind is very powerful and it can create all sports of phenomenal if you do not learn how to discipline it.
Jus like in my case,it is your beliefs that has brought you to the situation you find yourself and you need to change it and everything will start to change
If the Church you attend or the company you keep is fueling this negative mindset then you need to reconsider your association with such place and persons
My problem started when I attended a religious program where the guest speaker discussed the activities of witches and wizards I left the service feeling much afraid and unsecure and to worsen it at that time I was living alone
I started suspecting people around me and the illusion started to get real.That was the beginning of my problem then
Looking back now,one thing that really helped me was what someone who I could describe as an advance soul told me.He advised me to go and improve my relationship with the people I regarded as witches,to eat their food and spend time with themThe idea behind that action was to remove fear from my mind
.It helped greatly and today I can visit my village without any fear
One a final note stop giving negative interpretation to dreams and it will change or if you like you can tell yourself before you go to sleep that you will no longer see the individual who come to you in your dreams to tell you negative thingsYou can even tell yourself you will chase him away and when you dream you will see yourself doing just that
Do not be afraid It is you alone that can decide your destiny and no one else
Yes, at certain times I still experience doubt s and fears but each time I still have to remind myself of certain principles I have learnt to stay afloat
Christianity EtcRe: My by triplechoice(m): 10:51pm On Jul 26, 2018
You need to change your mindset
Stop believing there is a witch somewhere affecting your life or you are under a curse.I have also experienced what you are currently going through.In my own case,I even started to hallucinate.I saw cats and strange humans appearing and disappearing..Prayers and running to churches did not stop it until I met a very knowledgeable man who told that it was mind that was responsible for what I was experiencing and I should not be afraid that it will end.I did not take the advice at that time because I felt he did not understand what I was going through
So I decided to run away from warrri to Lagos believing a change of location. will bring and end to it but it became worse.In lagos,I got a job in a bakery because someone told me. in warrri that I should occupy myself with something to take my attention away from what was disturbing my mind.
One night my deliverance came in a strange way.It started with my mind creating images as usual so I left the bakery I was working to met a friend who was working as a night guard in a church close to airport hotel in Ikeja.By this time I was filled with much fear and apprehension because I imagined some persons where following me but I coul not look directly at them due to fear
When I got to the church ,my friend was not there .He was having his off day.So I decided to go to his house to sleep there because I was afraid to be alone
By now I was running and walking at the same time .When I got to the gate of my friend's house,it was locked. At that moment I observed that the persons and cats I believed where after me also stopped .As I moved back they also moved back.That was when It dawn on me that I have been hallucinating all this time due to fear of witchcraft.So immediately I looked directly at what I believed were after me and it just disappeared
For the first time all my fears vanished I walked back to the bakery to join them.By morning when the owner of the bakery came ,I told her I was returning back to warrri.she paid me for the one week I had worked and I left .
I was going back to warrri because I now realized there was no witch anywhere after me.It was my assumption and believe that created all that I experienced.Also what that man told me now made sense:that it was mind that was creating everything .So each time I felt I was seeing or hearing things ,I just ignore it and it goes away
That was how I finally came out of it
I got myself engaged with a teaching job in a private school.T he following year ,I sat for GCE and also enrolled for jamb.I was successful in both.I am now a graduate and I have been working for the past eight years
I have decided to share this story not only for you but to others experiencing same
Get anything to do forget your certificate
You went to school and graduated why is it now witches are after you?
Look for any job by the time you start earning money no matter how small it will take your attention from those beliefs.
Ignore the cobwebs you are seeing it will go away.you are the one creating them through your fear s and believe
Don't go for any deliverance it will only reinforce the belief that witches after you

I also experienced the same with stannbic bank ATM here in Asaba along Nnebisi road
on the 5th too
On that day,the money was being dispensed but did not come out for me to receive it as the clamp could not open fully enough.Just then I received a debit alert for the transaction .I immediately called the attention of the security personnel close by to what has happened and was advised to wait for a little to see if the mon
ey would come out.It did not and I went to complain
inside the bank.I was advised to go to my bank to lay a complain. I have to wait for two weeks for it to be reversed. Was not too happy to hear that If it were to be my last cash and I had an emergency to attend to then what would have happened.

Hello,
I grew up in Benin and know how the indigenes put so much faith in the ability of a witchdoctor to cast a spell to affect destiny.Fear is usually the controlling factor and nothing more.Fear that something bad would happen if you go against the terms of an oath. It is this fear that has trapped your friend.She is right now in a position where her traffickers want her to be until she pays off what she agreed to
If you want to help her,you can try this simple psychological trick it will help to remove fear and free her to seek the help she needs.Search for the recent video or images of the oba of Benin and his chiefs performing a ritual to revoke curses on trafficked victims.Download this and send to her.Before sending to her you need to prepare her mind to make it really effective.Tell her before sending that you have a solution to her problem and that the information will come when she is about to sleep.This will make her look forward to it,,Tell her to call you when she is about to sleep and send it to her at that time
Viewing the images at that time will help to impress it in her subconscious or spirit if thats what you will understand.If this is done properly it will to remove fear and give her the confidence she needs to seek her help
What the oba and his chiefs did has the same purpose.If you read what the chief priest said concerning a ritual item that had not been exposed to the sun in 800 years,you will get understand my whole point.The mention of the 800 years item not seeing the sun is to help create a powerful belief that will help invalidate in the mind of the trafficked victims the belief which they place on the oath to affect them
You can also contact the Edo state task orce against human trafficking on her behalf.Thete is a working agreement with the Italian authorities to deal with such cases.Hers is not the first
Money is not the issue here as it seems to me most persons may have misunderstood you thinking you are seeking for fund on her behalf to pay off her traffickers
I hope my advice helps.Goodluck
