Seems you know well about batteries ao pls let me ask you.

I've 6 lead acid batteries of 200ah 12v each I use offgrid. They are connected to use in 24v inverter.

Been using it for 1 year now without nepa or generator but fully solar and it's has never gone off.

Good thing is, it has never gone beyond 20% DoD. During the day it's fully charged. At night I sleep with it at 25.6v and by morning it's still at 25.0v-25.2v. Impressive. That's like over 90% charge before sun charges it again all day.

My question is, being lead acid and never hitting 50% Dod, do you think it can last me 5-7 years? I'm asking coz I was told no matter how you use lead acids, after 2-3 years they'll die or be weak.

Thanks bro. We don't really know the configuration in which the panels are connected but what i will say is get back to you as soon as we get hold of the installer that mounted the panels for us.We will also do what you advised and get back to you on that. Thanks for your help.

This is not really an advantage because DC voltage is not one or constant, if I have a 48v battery system and the inverter freezer is 12v input, I would still need a dc to dc converter to tap into the battery. This only works if your battery system has same voltage as your dc freezer, often times this is never the case.

Not worth it when you factor the high cost, including the cost and challenges of maintenance (getting a repair shop for support etc) all of which drive up the total cost of ownership. The energy difference is not that significant from a conversational Freezer. When you take out the starting current, Freezers are actually energy efficient for what they do, especially the chest freezers. Their ability to withhold cold air allows them to keep things cool for a long time.

You are better up buying a conventional freezer (or even the inverter freezer which Thermocool now sells) and then size up your inverter accordingly.

When I see people advertise these "solar DC freezers" at exorbitant prices, I wonder what's the usefulness since the watts used is similar to an ac freezer minus the starting watts for compressor. I'll even get an inverter ac freezer over the solar freezer as I see no advantage
