mikeansy: Me think our best bet at the world cup is for Mikel to sit deep and play the game simple just like he does fo Chelsea. Him and Onazi should be our lead defensive midfielders among the pack

Haruna Lukman? I dont know that he is that great a player. Between now and Worldcup we need an attacking midfielder, if we cant find one let us use a striker who can pass the ball as our number 10. the likes of Sone Aluko, Imoh Ezekiel, Lukman Haruna, or Uche brothers should be tried in that role to see what happens.

But if no one shows promise I think Nosa Igiebor should be used. I think Mikel, Nosa and Igiebor will form a very good midfield 3 against very technically gifted teams like Argentina, Spain or Germany
haruna lukman is more like xabi/arteta kind of player.

what i have observed is the inferiority complex of the 21st century penticostals towards the orthodoxy.the orthodoxy commands so much authority and respect historicaly it can never be unseated.every penticostal church is under the catholic orthodoxy struggling to break free mentaly i have noticed.that is why there is this much disdain towards it and its doctrines. But the orthodoxy carries with it so much weight it hardly gets defensive to the constant attacks of the penticostals(much less unrecognised 21st century instituions like deeper life, winners, redeemd and the like)which sprung up from certain men in nigeria. IMHO anytime it does its laughably like a child and a father beef. And am no catholic

breezy047: The group stage was purely experimental. That was not the winning formular. Even Onazi was used as a Right back against Zambia remember?

The winning formular began against CIV when Mikel and Onazi sat deep, and Mba ran around the midfield. Moses was the one given the free role and he too came to the midfield to pick up the balls.

Those are the moments when we were a complete team and Mali wouldn't want to play us again anytime soon.

Mikel has shown us already that if you use him as a play-maker, he would run out of gas soon, plus our defensive midfield would not be up to par with what it was at the afcon. We even conceded 6 goals in 3 games at the confeds.

Rather, Mikel is always a beast for us when he sits deep and and does his thing with Onazi from the defensive play.
Using him as a play-maker should be a last resort if we don't find a suitable AM, but this is unlikely with Haruna, azeez and iheanacho showing potentials.

Besides, we are not going to be facing ethiopia at the WC. We do not have the luxury of throwing people forward carelessly if we bargain to go very far.
the mikel gassess out after 70mins is over exagerated.playmarkers like him have special talent which help them conserve energy and that talent is because the ball is always on there feet.you are less likely to get tired quick when you control a game.have you watched xavi, pirlo.have you closely watched how iniesta covers so many distance almost effortless? thats because barca dont chase games and also cause he has the highest productivity in a team with the least energy dispensed more than any other player in a big team over 90min IMHO.the purpose is to control play right? Cause thats how we play.you consided 6 goals because you dont have a good defensive midfielder plus your poor defence.onazi is barely average i've watched him for lazio.he gets games though and you watch where lazio is on the table.you becareful how you place faith on a 17yr old with raw experience.the 3 games we play wont ask for anything less.playing mikel from deep only restricts him to mainly defensive play which is not his strongest talent.(unlike when he took us to the under 21 final against agentina)thats why chelseas midfield is crap.fast attackers bearing down on him usualy ghost past him on counter and trust me the likes of messi will live him for dead.thats where he gets tired in your 70mins.this is the world cup.the average european or south american team is better than your best here.get haruna,azeez...to do more dirty job.we play 433.thats our formation
SportsRe: List Uncapped in-form Players Keshi Should Call-up by troy20(op): 2:47pm On Dec 23, 2013
breezy047: It is due to the lack of a quality attacking midfielder in the team.

At the afcon when Mba was still a beast, he was the one surging forward and joining the attack, spraying passes and running.

Mikel and Onazi only sat back to protect the defence and deliver long balls to the strikers or wings when necessary.

This was the perfect setting. We got the best from Mikel and onazi both defensively and on counter attacks when they would suddenly look up and send a killer long ball pass to Emenike.

But this setting crashed with the fall of Mba. No one to do the prolific attacking midfieder job. Initially at the confeds, Mikel was used at that role, but he usually tired out after about 70mins, plus the defence didn't get the best of his protective cover anymore, and we couldn't get any of the killer long ball passes too.

Keshi has since experimented with that position. Trying out Oduamadi in that role has proved very devastative. Trying out Moses too in that role hasn't really fit. Reuben gabriel just like Mba has gone match rusty.

What we need now to get the best out of our midfield once again is a good attacking midfielder. And the choices at present are:

Haruna lukman
Ramon azeez
Joel Obi
Micheal Olaitan.
Kelechi Iheanacho
I would pick either Haruna or Ramon.

When we get the good AM, the problem is solved. Mikel would not have to worry much about going forward which exposes the defence and deprives him of his long balls. Likewise Onazi.
nice observation but if you were more keen you would observe that mikel had freeier role to play in the group stages of the last AFCON .he was only positionally deployed deeper against ivory cost which worked superbly cause it was a cautious tactic.we kept possession and control of the game leaving yaya and tiote confused and little to do(tiote).they had to come deep to get the ball which anoingly often stayed longer in the long legs of mikel and while they did, they exposed their backline for emenike and moses to run at their wing backs.it was a risky system and required confidence and comfort with the ball from deep.which mikel had.very few players play from deep this well.pirlo,xavi...execpt these two play more mobile.we won against ivory coast because we kept the ball away from them not because we won the ball more from them in midfield.my point exactly is, mikel would play to his talent if given a freeier role with better tacklers and ball distributors.you know... a better complete package like xabi basquet,montilivio,rossi...Haruna,azeez and maybe onazi are the best we have.so that we control games better.wining the ball in midfield as soon as we lose it.therefore putting less pressure on the defence.pirlo, gattuso, ambrosini where the best midfield combo in the world once with that tactic.pirlo, vidal pogba still one the best version today.mikel needs to be giving more mobility to give his ALL.

PoliticsRe: Mass Defection To Hit PDP Again by troy20(m): 11:07am On Dec 22, 2013
Billyonaire: Political re-alignment is becoming a perennial phenomena in Nigeria, especially when Politicians are jobless and career-less, politics is their source air, water and food. Without re-alignments, they could become armed robbers.

Look at today's politicians apart from the President and few others. Did they actually have a real career apart from the military-backgrounded mafioso parading themselves as democrats ?

While the masses are suffering, the politicians who called themselves progressives, and now dining with the ones they called "corrupt". It is sad for anyone to still believe a wolf can become a sheep, but I know these are all wolves in sheep's clothing.

I stand for GEJ and what remains of the rejuvenated, reinvigorated, renewed and pollutant-free PDP.

So help me Cosmic & Infinite Oneness.
which rejuvinated and reinvigorated PDP?? funny of you to hold moral faith in a party that has robbed you blind since 1999.funnier to even hold moral faith in any party at all.are those rejuvinated ones monks in robs?

deletrue: No. Do not withdraw your support for Jona. He, Jona, is a fairer leader, is in a very tight corner for many reasons but definitely not because he is not a performer,. If he takes on Oduah, he will be in a more serious soup, because her issue is not clearly indicting her. jona is just playing the most suitable, Ideal and most appropriate politics this country deserves. The right time to play that politics you described above will be his second coming. Reason my thread sincerely brother..
politics?? Nigeria has never witnessed this much disregard, disrespect for accountability.the corruption this time is unbelievable.thieves have grown bolder as anybody now believes he can get a sizable chunk of public fund as long they can reach it and go free.if GEJ stays another four years, we will go under.our public dept is already becoming a crises again.

yea its true.igbos sadly we dont know how to play politics.probably because we live very individuated lives.we regard the hausas as Aboki's(unsmart) but they hold power and the structure of government in the country.every ministry, the national assembly they are everywhere i've had the fortune of having grown in different places, people and cultures.you work the corridors of the national assembly where i served under a comittee and its all hausa language you hear...hell we even had committe meetings with senators and it often devld into the use of hausa language i recall senator james manager(who didnt undastand hausa at the time) always trying to bring back the discusion to English language.it was like an official language.you go to mininistries in abuja its thesame.the yorubas have strong social networks and they exploit it to the fullest too.its hausa and yoruba. we igbos keep being marginalized because we are not united...we are not as smart as we think we are.nobody joins a sinking ship.even if we hold a grugde against Apc's southwest and north coalition, it would be wise to join them for now and wiser to be neutral.the igbos might not be noticing but we are fast becoming a minority tribe. If Apc finaly holds power then what would've been the wisdom of sticking out our tongue to the new PDP(APC).We've been used and dumped by PDP since 1999.

hycode: How about this guy Leon Balogun

Fortuna Dusseldorf of Germany defender Leon Balogun has exclusively revealed to supersport.com his deep desire is to play for Nigeria

I will walk to Spain, then swim across the ocean, catch a canoe just to honour the call. It will be the pinnacle of my career to represent the country of my father's birth especially because my father was always proud to be a Nigerian" Balogun told supersport.com

Balogun was in the Dusseldorf side that were relegated from the Bundesliga last season where he started half of the matches.”

"It was not a good feeling but Bundesliga 2 is as strong as many first divisions in other European countries and currently we are improving and hopefully should be able to bounce back."

Back to his international ambitions. Asked on what he makes of those who say that he is hoping reap where he had not sown with regards to a world cup place.

"Nobody called me. Nobody came to watch me play during the qualifiers. If they had, I repeat I would have jumped at it and would have contributed my quota to the course"

One of the most fascinating things about Balogun is his fluency in English considering that he has never visited nor lives in an English living country.

"I taught myself mostly because I have always liked to speak the language. I listened to music, I watched films and TV programmes and then added to the classes in school"

The former Weder Bremen defender believes that central defence is his best position. "I have been playing most of my matches now as a right back for Dusseldorf but central defence is where I have originally always liked. However, maybe because of my speed especially on my offensive and my crossing have made my coach prefer playing me at right back"

Balogun is a rare breed of footballers in his humility and even the car he drives "My parents taught me to be content with what I have and where I am. They grounded me properly so that material things are not so important" He does not have arrogance about him and explains why he never got capped by German youth teams "maybe I was not good enough at the time. I will never say that when I was growing up through the ranks that my game would have stood out enough then. Am not hung up on that at all."

Many would have expected him to have moved away from Dusseldorf after the relegation. He sees it a bit different.

"I play more now at this club. More than I did at Bremen so I will rather be playing football regularly at my age instead of sitting on the bench at a big club side."

Final word to Keshi? "I will make the life of every forward that comes up against me miserable throughout the match. I will guarantee 100% commitment to the cause and I am firm believer in team work. Offensively and physically am powerful enough. I have the speed for the position. I will be honoured to be given just a trial."
the guy is realy tall.what are his stats?

omar22: I would have said Nedem Onuoha but the way he and Carlton Cole turned Nigeria down made me feel these guys are going to loose out internationally. Actually Rio Ferdinand told to Cole to turn Naija down. Look at both of them now Agbolahor and Cole. Ugo Ehiogu could have gone to 2 or 3 world cups With Nigeria but England used him in a friendly because Adam and Keown were injured and quashed his international career. England quickly gave Wilfred Zaha a cap just to prevent him playing for Ivory Coast, Didier Drogba warned him, England gave Raheem Sterling a cap just to prevent him playing for Jamaica, Roberto Martinez did warn England that they are going to loose Victor Moses to Nigeria
just couldnt imagine how a 3 lion jersey would improve your sense of self worth.the jerseys over the years are always overhyped more than any country's by there noisy press and they are the crapiest team to watch.maybe there is something more in it for them(traitors).the English national team is not looking to win anything a decade from now.
SportsRe: List Uncapped in-form Players Keshi Should Call-up by troy20(op): 10:06pm On Dec 19, 2013
breezy047: Then how do you account for Marquinhos or Raphael both under 20s?

Yobo was at the world cup in 2010 but that didn't stop us from getting beaten by Greece.

Omeruo's youthfulness and brilliance has clearly outclassed Yobo since the afcon early this year and he would always start ahead of Yobo.

If yobo would be coming to the team to add depth to the defence, he would have to start from the bench. . .and that's where the problem is. . .

Why do you think Keshi dropped him from the squad in the first place?

He would still have been playing for Nigeria if he had tucked his pride at the afcon and agreed to respect Keshi's final decision of starting Omeruo ahead of him.

NO WOMAN goes on her knees and prays to God that she wants a struggling husband. Except the ones who pray for ANY kind of husband!

Men these days are just not driven with enough goals and women are just managing them because they don't have much choice if they want to get married.....

The idea of getting a wife honestly is overrated.you would think its only women who suffer the social pressures of getting married.they say bachelorhood is the best period of a man's life.believe me it is.you are just 32.I would say just fvck and live free...yes yes alota men are doing it now but i guess thats me.just take it easy. The right woman would come even if it takes forever.you dont know what you have now until you lose it.
