you can go the university abroad if you have no school cert, you can be a professor without even a masters (infact Osinbajo has no Ph.D), you can undergo a ph.d without even a 1st degree. it all depends on the individuals personal career path/background, experience etc.


It is only in backward Nigeria where we produce graduates who dont understand English (as is well evidenced on nairaland) or know how to think, that we place undue importance on degree and certificates. bill Gates, Steve Jobs who are responsible for the tech advance the world is witnessing etc etc dont even have 1st degrees!! We place too much emphasis on certificates, you only have to browse nairaland to know that many Nigerians with a 1st degrees are useless to society and are no better off than some with proper "o" levels and thats why many cannot get jobs and end up as bank clerks, sales assistants etc.
