judisco2019: This place have been very helpful to me. I have done the EOI registration on skill select. I used 2 different emails and chose the three subclasses on each of the emails. I also chose NSW and Tasmania on the two emails. I want to know if there are other states that are still open for nomination on my skill which is Electrical engineering technician. I also want to know if I am to do any other registration on the website of those states that I chose or just the EOI is enough. Do not select two states in one EOI. Only select 189 in 1 EoI cos you can only get one 189. You can select 190/491 in others |

olig: Thank you for your time and response @ tunlex01. God bless you.
My PhD was on scholarship (from DAAD, in Germany), not employment. I don't have payslips or employment letter. Only scholarship award letter and stipends is paid monthly into my account. Though my supervisor can give support/reference letter, but I guess that won't still count. I guess I have to act fast and start now before I dont have any leverage left in term of employment.
Please, any suggestion on the visa category and maybe province/region to look out consider? You can add all the documents and prepare your application as if you want to assess the Phd as well. You won’t know if you don’t try. Visa category is determined by the occupation you select. You will see that on the anzscosearch website when you scroll down. Get a positive assessment first before moving to the next stage |

olig: Good day guys, @tunlex01 and all others, please advise and guidance.
I am considering the AU PR (or a viable route you know). I have read a little on the topic and comments here. However, I still need some guidance/assistance.
Age: 37 years Marital status: Married Degrees: PhD 2019 - 2022 (in Applied Geosciences) M.Sc. 2013 - 2015 (in Geology) B.Sc. 2006 - 2010 (in Geology) Occupation: Geologist Group: GROUP 2344; Geologists, Geophysicists and Hydrogeologists ANZSCO code: 234411 ANZSCO Skill Level: 1 List: STSOL VISA: 190 [skill nominated], 407 [Training visa], 489 [Skilled Regional (Provisional vias) - State or Territory nominated] 482 [Temporary Skill shortage visa - Short Term Stream], 487 [Regional Sponsor Migration Scheme], 494 [Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) - Employer-sponsored stream], 491 [Skilled Work Regional (Provisional visa) - State of Territory nominated]. Assessing Authority: VETASSESS -Geologist is a VETASSESS Group A occupation Assessment: Not done yet. Experience: 3 years (Geologist: 04/2015 to 10/2018). IELTS: Not done yet.
Wife: Age: 28 Degree: B.Sc. 2013 - 2017 (in Local Government Studies). Experience: 4 years ad 4 months (Account officer: 09/2017 to 01/2022). 10 months (Credit control officer: 02/2022 to /11/2022). She has AAT and ICAN. I was told ICAN doesn't work for Australia, which is why I don't detail that. Occupation: Account officer is not on the skilled occupation list. ANZSCO Code: XXXXXXXXX VISA: XXXXXXXXX IELTS: Not yet done
Please, kindly advise on the most viable route for us.
Specific questions: (1) Do I need IELTS results for the assessment (VETASSESS is the authority)? (2) Does PhD period also count as experience for AU PR?
I found the statements below on the VETASSESS page and I don't have a clear understanding of bullet (now number) 2. Please, note that my PhD is technically 4 years. "Geologist(ANZSCO Code 234411) This occupation requires a qualification assessed as comparable to the education level of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Bachelor Degree or higher degree and in a field highly relevant to the nominated occupation.
In addition to the above, it is essential for applicants to meet the following employment criteria:
1. at least one year of post-qualification employment at an appropriate skill level, 2. undertaken in the last five years, 3. working 20 hours or more per week, and 4. highly relevant to the nominated occupation. Please note in order to achieve a successful Skills Assessment Outcome, a positive assessment for both qualifications and employment is required."
I am sorry for my long epistle. I just wish to get things right.
Thank you in anticipation for your advice and guidance. 1. IELTS is not required for Vetassess assessment however that is required for nomination/visa application. 2. Nope except you are working during that period and getting paid as a geologist Vetassess assessed past 10 years but requires that you have an experience that is current (which must be within the last 5 years - technically February 2018). In your case, your experience ended in October 2018. So that means you are eligible. After October 2018, you will not be eligible for assessment. |

RealPontif: Hi, Uncle @Tunlex01
I'm here again.
Please what would be the best thing to do in a situation where the person that would have provided your Employment Reference and other needed items, is no longer working in the company as well and as a result, no longer has access to the official emails and other contacts of the company as before?
I'm asking because, I was wondering what could happen if they send email to the email address in order to confirm, and either didn't get a confirmatory response or don't get any at all.
I wonder if you understand my tale here.
Thanks always. Get your letter from the HR of the company. if that's not feasible, then you may prepare a statutory declaration. |

Acquiredollars: Good day seniors.....
For University Lecturers, VETASSES is the body responsible for assessing the skillset.
My question is:
Will employment letter, Reference letter from the University Registrar and bank statement of 5 years be enough for proof of employment?
For my spouse,
The Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) is responsible for assessing her skillset.
My question is:
She's a secondary school teacher with a Private school. Most of her salaries were paid to her by cash, not into her bank account. What can she use as proof of employment in her case please?
Again, if she didn't assess her skillset, and I decide to use only her level of English language test (IELTS only), will she be allowed to get a teaching job in Australia without her skillset not assessed by the required body (AITSL).
Thanks. 1. That should be enough for Vetassess assessment but won’t be for DHA. You need to have tax and/or pension statements. 2. Cash payment does not stop payment of PAYE tax or pension. She can get her school to pay her taxes. 3. She can do the assessment onshore after landing |

Thanks. There are different document requirements per assessing body. You will need to be specific about your profile and the occupation you are assessing for to get an appropriate response. Reading up this thread will give you an idea how to check your occupation and the assessing authority as well as their website for further questions. |

Jennifernl: My family is considering Australia, and about starting the process of migrating through the pr route
A quick timeline Hubby has a HND in chemistry which from my research is classified as Chemistry Technician in Australia, which is part of the skill shortage list, and also falls under the visa 190 category.
He has a cumulative salary work experience of about ten years in his field , but has stopped paid employment since 2018.
My question is this; Can the work experience still count if a skill assessment is done by VETASSESS considering the fact that he has stopped working for about 5 years now?
Tunlex01 please I would like a response from you, and every other knowledgeable person on this thread For Vetassess, even though your spouse has over 10 years experience but since he has stopped working over 5 years ago, he's no longer eligible for Vetassess assessment for this occupation. Vetassess requires that the employment must be current within the last 5 years to assess the entire work experience.

Saynoomore: I received a Positive Assessment from Vetassess today. I thought it was going to be a Certificate . It was just a letter.
The funny part was that they removed 1 year from my work experience, and instead of 9 years, I was given 7.66 (as at Sept 2022). My question is can I still claim 8 yrs? I understand that 8 yrs can give 20 points.
@ Tunlex, please how can I strategically cast my net for an ITA? Apply to Skillselect for EOI 189 only, then visit the States (perhaps 3 different States) and apply for ROI 190? separately with same email? You have gotten a response. So good luck man and congratulations |

This is wonderful!
Essentially, are you saying that as long as I'm married, that I must involve my spouse's Skill Assessments too (English Test) and that I cannot use mine alone to obtain success/positive assessment?
OR
Can I get assessed successfully solely based on my own credentials, move to australia and then arrange for my family to come over or must I leave with them at the same time?
This area isn't as clear yet. Skill assessment is different from English test. You may or may not involve your spouse in English test or skill assessment. It depends on how many points you are able to garner on your own. You can move to Australia first and apply for subsequent entrant visa or partner visa for your family or you can all apply together, get visa but you move to Australia first and after you are settled, they can then join you. |

I am planning to study master's degree in Australia, so I need an advice from knowledgeable people in the house.
I am graduate of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from University of Brighton, UK. I am currently working as an Instrumentation Engineer with over 6yrs of experience.
I want to study a course in Instrumentation Engineering or any related discipline. I have few questions I will need the house to help me answer.
1) Which good schools offer the mentioned course? 2) Is English test needed as one of the requirements for application, if yes, what is the required band? 3) I want to be briefed on proof of fund 4) Can 10million be enough for me to move to Canada?
Your response would be highly appreciated.
Thank you. Why not go for skilled migration instead of student application? |

Bodacious1: I understand what 189 is. Let me ask this question differently, so my point of view is clearer...
I created three separate EOIs each for three different states.
For state 1, I selected 189, 190 & 491 For states 2 & 3, I selected 189 & 190
Last week, I received two separate emails inviting me to lodge a visa application using EOIs I created for states 2 & 3. I opted to use the EOI I created for state 2 and now while completing the application, I got to a stage asking me to select state of residence (that's the screenshot I shared). If I select any state now, does this mean I can still change my mind to a different state when the time comes for me to move without restrictions (since 189 is a federal visa)?
Thanks for your help. Got you now. That’s clear enough. Congratulations on your ITA. You can select any state of residence. You are going to be a PR and can live anywhere. Now that you have gotten ITA, please take time to withdraw all your EOIs so as to give room to others who are waiting for ITA. Cos if you get another ITA, it’s a waste to you and affect others on the queue. For everyone else, pls only select 189 for one of your EOIs so that you don’t debar other people’s chances of getting 189. |

Please what's the procedure if you receive two separate EOI invitations for 189 (for SA and NSW)? Can I just pick any one to apply? Also, if I pick either one, can I choose a completely different intended state as residence? Your help/response will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Perhaps check your post again. 189 is a federal visa subclass. You don't select state for 189 and if you are required to select any state, just select any or unknown |

I noticed you prefer separating 190 and 491...i.e it seems you'ld rather have them on separate EOIs. Any reason for this? can you not have them both on the same EOI? i.e tick both 190 and 491 on same EOI? Because we have seen recently where people get 491 and get 190 later from the same state. So if you have one EOI, you may miss out. |

Saynoomore: THanks again for this post. Ive been reading more about these! However, I have a question..."Why create multiple 189s"? I thought that with one 189, you can decide to migrate to any state. Would it not suffice to simply select 189 for one EOI - since 189 is not for state! Then create for each of the states new EOIs while selecting 190 and 491 for each of the states. E.g
1. EOIa 189 2. EOIb NSW (tick 190 & 491) 3. EOIc SA (tick 190 & 491) etc etc...
Secondly please can you kindly provide a list of which of the states would require creating ROIs? I've been searching this information online...so far, I've only observed that Victoria and SA require ROI. Is there any other states that would request for ROI? You are correct. That was an error on my part. I have edited my initial post |
