Actually, stating that will guarantee your application is denied.

Do you have spare $200m-$10b to invest in developing new projects or you think money falls from the sky or Nigeria has money to fund such projects 100%?
All the money we made from oil exploration for 64 years is worth trillions of dollars. Money doesn't fall from the sky, it just disappears into pockets and bank accounts of thieves masquerading as Nigerian government officials. Let them use what they stole to set up the investments they keep crying that Nigeria needs.

Drilling oil is not hard, once you own OML, you simply get a technical partner to operate the OML while you collect royalties.
What new investments is he asking for? Cant Nigeria develop its own resources after 64 years?
PoliticsRe: NNPC Confirms IOCs Exit, Insists On Gas Development by TWoods(m): 8:09am On Mar 01, 2022
“Africa is not denying the need to transit to renewable fuels, to cleaner energies, but we are only saying at this point, just when we are getting our act together, please allow us to enjoy our resources a little bit,” the minister stated.
The minister is not serious. Oil was discovered in Nigeria in 1958, that is 64 years ago. When does the minister expect we will "get our act together"? No one is preventing Nigeria from enjoying our resources, I think what the minister is alluding to is we do not have the ability to extract oil and gas by ourselves. We relied for so long on foreign O&G companies, leaving our refineries moribund and NNPC a white elephant for corrupt Nigerians. In serious countries (e.g. Qatar and Saudi Arabia), we would be talking of developing the resources and manpower to tap our own resources, rather he is busy begging others to do it for him.

David Hundeyin needs to be reminded that he is largely inconsequential when it comes to Ukraine and I doubt Ukrainians care very much whether he adds their flag to his Twitter bio or not. Last I checked, none of the Africans trying to flee Ukraine care enough to take up a weapon to defend the country that has given them refuge these last few years. Every adult male Ukrainian is not allowed to leave the country and must take up weapons to defend the country... the African men are busy looking for the nearest exit. Yet they are unhappy that those men are prioritizing their wives, sisters, and daughters when it comes to fleeing the war? Hypocrisy, thy name is David Hundeyin.

Almost natural progression for your typical immigrant. Looks like you got there pretty fast though. Firstly, desirous of any element of a good life and willing to sacrifice anything for it, including getting into immigration troubles, voting democrats, etc. Once they attain the lifestyle they have so longed for, they start to see everything wrong with where they were coming from. Sooner, they start to vote Republicans.
You find them everywhere, including in Canada where they come in through immigration and then, years later, start voting against immigration!

Hmmm the dropbox was only canceled in Nigeria - we know why... has nothing to do with illegal immigration to the US. The issue of illegal immigration is largely a corporate problem. Republicans could end this by simply enforcing the requirement for employment verification (I-9). We know why republicans refuse to do so.

Only error is that I have always been a Trump supporter even before I got into the US.

Same way I campaigned Against GEJ and now campaigning against Buhari - parties don't matter much, the individuals count the most.

With the way I 'attack' Democrats (actually meaning California) and not Newsom, it is a contradiction you might say...
No, I use magnifiers when reviewing American Dems.

I will gladly vote Republicans as long as the Democrats have anti-American policies.

To your last line, I am all in for LEGAL Immigration.
Na illegality make embassy cancel Dropbox- think about it.
1. Again this is largely uninformed. Donald Trump, up until 2015, was simply a political joke. He and his family voted democrat and donated to Clinton's 2008 campaign for president. It's not clear how you were a Trump supporter, considering you likely had no idea what his political views were when you were in Nigeria.

2. You're not "reviewing" or "attacking" Democrats, you're simply delusional. To say Democrats have anti-American politics is sadly evidence that you are merely parroting Republican propaganda. Republicans have not passed a single pro-American law since the 1930s... Let's see what Democrats have passed in that time:

a. FDR passed the new deal in 1933 that rescued the US from the great depression of 1932 that Herbert Hoover plunged the US. The new deal set America up for an unparalleled period of economic dominance until Ronald Reagan destroyed it in 1980 - you can guess what party Reagan was a part of. The new deal introduced major banking reform through the creation of the FDIC (which insures every dollar you deposit in any bank account today), the Glass-Steagall Act, and the Securities Act of 1933. The new deal also established the Federal Housing Administration (which holds >80% of US home loans today), the GI Bill, Social Security, and unemployment insurance.

b. LB Johnson passed medicare (which insures almost all Americans aged 65 and above) and medicaid (which provides income to the disabled and the poor - and is one of the major reasons America does not have the level of poverty seen in Nigeria). Most importantly, LBJ's government passed the 1965 civil rights act - which is what allows ungrateful black men like you to be treated equally in the United States. It also pass the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, which reversed the 1922 INA that specifically blocked immigration to the US from anywhere other than Western Europe. This Act is the sole reason people like you can emigrate to the US and apply for an N-400

c. Democrats passed the Child Tax Credit, CHIP (which insures poor children up to the age of 6 - until republicans let is lapse on purpose) and Obamacare (which opened healthcare insurance to the very poor and small business owners0. In the first 8 years, it reduced the proportion of the uninsured in the US from more than 46.5 million in 2010 to fewer than 26.7 million in 2016.

Please tell us what Republicans passed since 1932 that helped you or anyone else? I can tell you what they did though...

a. Reagan cut top marginal tax rates (on the rich) from 70% to 28%... leading to the progressive decline of the middle class.

b. Reagan's deregulation of the economy virtually led to the collapse of American manufacturing, as we shipped jobs to low wage countries like China. See here - https://www.businessinsider.com/what-happened-to-american-jobs-in-the-80s-2017-7

c. Thanks to Clinton, the American economy had a surplus in 2001, we ended up trillions in debt by the time Bush 2 left office, while mirring us in a 20 year destructive war in Afghanistan and Iraq that cost over $3 trillion.

Dude, you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to US politics... you're simply a follower, just parroting what you hear on Fox with no critical thinking.

enthronedbyGod1:
The Bible is our guide , not mummy GO. Every Christian should endeavour to study scriptures for his/herself. Every true preacher of the gospel should be able to back their sermons up with the Bible.
The scriptures is clear on this matter so we'd look at what the scriptures say about tongues.
1 Corinthians 12: 10c - To another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
1 Corinthians 13:1a - Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels.
From these scriptures we can see there are diverse kinds of tongues. The scriptures clearly states that there are tongues of angels and that of men.
When people speak in tongues they either speak with the tongues of angels or with tongues of men( tongues not familiar to them).
This is why we have another gift called gift of interpretation of tongues, if there was nothing as tongues of angels there'd be no need to interpret it supernaturally. Anyone who tells you that there is nothing like heavenly tongues ( tongues of angels) is either ignorant or intentionally trying to mislead people.
I have spoken and still speak with the tongue of angels as the Spirit leads and have interpreted sometimes through the gift of interpretation by God's special grace.

Don't let anyone deceive you. We have heavenly tongues ( tongues of angels)

Study to show yourself approved unto God an unashamed workman that rightly divides truth of God's words.
What you said here is a false interpretation of 1 Corinthians 12 and 13.

First we look at 1 Corinthians 12:10 - To another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

I don't think we need to overthink this, clearly, Paul was saying while some may have the gift of tongues, there MUST be others who are able to interpret those tongues. I Corinthians 14:7-9 makes that point. Verse 12 of 1 Corinthians 12 is also instructive. Here Paul is saying that we are all of one body and we are all given spiritual gifts to the edification of that body. Just like every organ in the body serves that body, so is each person given a spiritual gift... not to use it as a means of showing how spiritual you are, but in service to the body of Christ. If your tongues are not interpretable to anyone, how is that gift edifying the body? Saying tongues is a spiritual language of heaven is like saying the fingers only write a heavenly language that is unintelligible to the rest of us here.

1 Corinthians 13:1 is Paul trying to use hyperbole to make a point. His point was even if he became an angel today and spoke like them, without charity, he was nothing but an empty barrel. It was his way of helping his followers see how absolutely important charity was to the life of the Christian. The bible mentions angels speaking to people several times in the bible. For each example, the angels spoke clearly in the language understood by those people. They did not speak in a different language that required extra interpretation.

I'm also intrigued by your choice of words here - I have spoken and still speak with the tongue of angels as the Spirit leads and have interpreted sometimes through the gift of interpretation by God's special grace.

Hmmm no, 1 Corinthians 14 is clear - your tongues are either interpretable by others are not. There is nothing like "interpreted sometimes".

We should be careful not to burden Christians with unnecessary doctrines of men that do nothing but lead them astray. For too long, many have sat in church pews, thinking they couldn't be saved or Christian enough because they were not able to babble incoherently like the "holy" brothers and sisters.

I do not know the point Evang. Fummi is driving at, what I know is;
Speaking in tongues is not what you learn or imitate.
Speaking in tongues is not what u Carnally or Physically do.
Speaking in tongues is not rapping .

Speaking in tongues starts as a result of the HOLYGHOST Power and Unction descending on a human.

Speaking in tongues is Communicating with the throne of the ANCIENT of Days in a Higher level language.

You must understand that the HOLYGHOST does not Dwell were sin is . It is a Spiritual thing. The HOLYGHOST comes in a Saved, Sanctified Heart that is Dead to Sin and Hungry for Holiness.

Trying to just speak in tongues Carnally is a Fruitless exercise.
This can't be true sir. The first time speaking in tongues appears in the bible is Acts 2:4-12. The bible records that the apostles were not communicating with Heaven, but were speaking the native languages of at least 16 different peoples represented that day. The tongues were not meant to be a magical speaking to heaven, but a way to evangelize the lost in their own language.

Apostle Paul clarifies more in 1 Corinthians 14... see the sections in red...

6But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you unless I speak to you either by revelation, by knowledge, by prophesying, or by teaching? 7Even things without life, whether flute or harp, when they make a sound unless they make a distinction in the sounds, how will it be known what is piped or played? 8For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle? 9So likewise you, unless you utter by the tongue words easy to understand, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air. 10There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without [b]significance. 11Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be a [c]foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to me. 12Even so you, since you are [d]zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the [e]edification of the church that you seek to excel.

13Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. 14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15What is the conclusion then?

I don't think anyone is in doubt as to what apostle Paul was saying here. Unless your speaking in tongues is interpretable by people on earth here, it is no better than making useless sounds on a harp.

Thanks for sharing your story.

Can you or anybody here give advice on how a new immigrant can quickly settle in the USA?

I'm sure from your experience, you would have wished you did some things earlier (either in Nigeria or US) that would have helped you to hit the ground running when you got to the US?

I'm at the tail end of my F4 application and my PD will fall due anytime soon.

(1) I have a fiancee that I'll want to join me after I get there (I cannot apply for her right now because of some cogent reasons/limitations).

(2) I don't want to be a burden to my host & the earlier I can find my way around, the better.

Expecting your reply. Any other experienced person can help with advice too.

I'm very open to learning. I'll also appreciate any reference to a thread where such had been previously discussed.
It's not that difficult if you're open-minded. The first thing you want to do is get a Social Security Number... you can't do very much without it. While doing that, start searching for a job. Your job is usually one of the places to meet people and make friends... the church is also a good place too. Best advice, don't attend a Nigerian church, branch out, meet other Americans. If you're in a fairly big city, look for rec leagues, there's probably one around you for soccer. You might even meet some Nigerians there! Or try meetup.com. They have a ton of groups/activities there that you can join. Try to get a job that comes with benefits; medical insurance is #1. You don't want to have to use the hospital or urgent care with no insurance. Fastest way to get yourself into a debt hole in the US. If your job does not offer health insurance, go online and find an ObamaCare plan. You may end up finding one very cheap that covers the basics you need.

If you land yourself a good job, you should be able to get your own apartment within 6 months. Rule of thumb:

1. Have your host help you with a bank account where you can get your paycheck by direct deposit (always better as businesses charge you a small amount to cash your check for you).
2. Get a credit card (your bank is always a good place to start). The credit limit is likely to be small ($500-$1500) but that doesn't matter. What you really need it for is to build credit.
3. Put most of your purchases on the card, but PAY IT OFF every month BEFORE the due date - if not you get charged a late fee. Get creditkarma.com. Easy and free website to monitor your credit history. It's cool watching your credit score grow and it helps you figure out what you need to do to make it grow or not.
4. When you need to get an apartment, make sure rent is no more than 30% of your paycheck. As a newbie, try to get an apartment that comes with all utilities included in the rent (at least for the first 1-2 years). Easier for you and you never have to worry about missing a gas or electric bill. After that, if you do move to another apartment, get one that does not include utilities so you have some experience dealing with home bills - phone, gas, electric, water/PUD, etc.
5. Get a phone plan - start small, you don't need all they try to sell you. One day, you'll be stable enough to afford more.
6. If you're in a big city with good public transport, use it. Take about a year before getting a car. My brother lives in NYC and sold his car. It cost more to park it than was worth. The subway there can get you anywhere within the city. For everything else, you've got uber.
7. Cook your own food lol... super easy to spend a lot of money eating out.
8. Be nice to people, say hello, smile. Enjoy America.

...and oh, even if you don't get a driver's license early enough, get a state ID, it works the same as a driver's license except you can't drive with it.

Good afternoon nairalanders and Happy new year to everyone. I promise to be brief.

My fiance and I hv been dating for 2 years. He's doing well for himself, he's humble, he's quick to apologize even when you're at fault. He calls his mom and siblings regularly, but he don't talk to his Dad. If I ask, he would say forget about him

My fiance has been keeping malice with his father for 3 years now. I don't know what transpired between them because he would never tell me. He act like his father doesn't exist.

His mom and I do talk on phone once in a while. Yesterday I called her to wish her happy new year, we spoke well and she prayed for me. Abt 10 mins later she called back, but this time she was crying, She explained how his son has not been talking to his Father, she said this year 2022 would make it 3 years, she said they have called elders and pastors to talk to him but all to no avail. She said It would be her greatest joy if I also help her talk to him since he loves me so much. We were on the phone for over 45min.

Nairalanders, he's coming to seek my hand in marriage by March but I'm scared and here are my reasons. 1) His he pretending to be nice to mehuh 2) what if we have little misunderstanding when we get married will he forgive me or keep malice with me for yearshuh

I was so angry at him, I told him that I'm giving him now till month end to reconcile every conflict or dispute he has with his father else I'm calling our relationship a quit, because this character seems to be a redflag to me. He started begging me, he said I don't understand yet he's not telling me anything.

I'm really confused. Please help a sister.
I perfectly understand your fiancé. I think you’re doing him a disservice. Have you asked why he specifically does not speak to his dad but has a good relationship with everyone else? I haven’t spoken to my dad in 3 years too… there are reasons for it and I am finally at peace with that decision. Thankfully I am married to a wife who thoroughly understands and never holds that against me. Your fiancé needs someone he can trust, not someone who irrationally makes decisions without thoughtful consideration of the facts.

The genesis of this escape plan stemmed from the Apaartment Complex's ridiculous requirements to either:
i. Pay the full remaining 9 months amount left at move out and get 'some' refund later.
OR
ii. Pay two months of rent in full and move out AFTER giving one month notice. That's 3 months rent in all.

As I no be mugu, I refused. Most things are negotiable I thought - asked them to take one month rent at move out, they refused. So I turned to Mungo Park.

Most states have Laws guiding tenant-landlord relationships. For Cali, it was Civil Code 1951.2...
I could choose to cover the difference between when I move out and when they got a new tenant. I emailed them stating the Law and that I was picking this option. Them no get choice but to accept - it's the Law.

Reasons why I chose this
i. I no get money to waste on frivolous charges (free money for Landlord)
ii. The total cost was high (2 months worth of rent for free) due to high rent so it made sense mathematically.
If you live where rent is $1k, no need to pass thru this stress.
iii. The Bay Area housing market is hot, I was 'sure' I could get someone to rent the place in less than 2 months.
Sigh… the Nigerian mentality. I’m sure they gave you forms to sign that explained all this to you. It is a pretty well known fact that there are strict rules for breaking a lease. You weren’t really smart, you got out of this because someone else was willing to rent from you immediately. If this wasn’t the case, they would have taken you to court, won their 9 months “free rent” and gotten you to cover their court costs too. This isn’t Nigeria were you think “I no be mugu” works.

Finally, this V.O needs to be reported to U.S department of state and sanctioned immediately. She is putting too much emotions in her job. I wonder which man break her heart sef.
lol report her to who? She has final authority on who gets a visa or not. Not even the US president can overrule her decision.

you this dude again hiding under F moniker you clearly know nothing about express entry but you dey chook mouth. Some people have gotten PR after sending emotional webforms, some got using a Canadian MP to intervene on their behalf, the former immigration minister of Somalian descent used to intervene and people got ppr one or two days after they messaged him. The prime minister’s mandate this year includes improving the processing times. They know there is an issue with their immigration process when compared to places like UK or USA. many of the government agencies here behave like Nigerian civil service in terms of speed of work ( not corrupt sha) . Stop coming here to type nonsense.
That isn't true. The US process can be just as long and confusing.
