Some of you don't have the ability to argue logically so you resort to throwing tantrums. I am used to that...
I said take it easy...it is not everything in life person dey hold like iron, otherwise one will have HbP....pele pocohantas...Sometimes, it is not all opinions on NL you will react to...just walk (that would help), and please, refrain from insults, you can still drive your points without it...such doesn't befits you as a virtuous woman.

"...Women are like commodities, with time the price and value depreciates. Men too, only that the former depreciates astronomically. You can leverage on it. I know you think it sounds absurd but you ain't got so much choice buddy"

Something is definitely wrong with you.
When you get married and have kids, give them this advice. Tell them they are commodities with poor shelf life. Don't teach them to value themselves first before seeking value from a partner.

No wonder we have people going into marriages for the wrong reasons, all in a bid to please society and not lose value.
E take e easy...pele.

Friend and family or gift mean the funds is freewill fron the buyer.Paypal will believe you willingly and comfortable when you send your money as friend and or gift.Any paypal payment that was sent that way is always free of chargeback or diffficult to chargeback, though some desperate people(buyers) manipulate that but it will be difficult for them once it sent as gift.
Hmmnn..thanks for the explanation.

Nobody wants Nigerian debt unless they give it to them in dollars at high percentage. All the Naira denominated Physicians are pretty much trash. The Central bank would rather defend naira and keep currency control then cry later about foreign direct investment to not coming. If anyone disagree just look at chart.

Remember Nigeria is doing Eurobond in raising rate environment. The Federal Reserve is raising rates sooner or later. It's goodthing all the bonds are due 2032. That at least gives us time to prepare for reality.
Now Naira crashes to 390/395..which investor do you think will put his/her money in a volatile market, unstable currency and lose money? Even I wey be Nigerian won't...if there is stability and the exchange rate is allowed to find its bearing...investors will come, and not 500 today, 320 tommorow....600 next tommorrow...who wants to board a dysfunction aircraft?

So, ensure you calculate your shipping rates with price of your products too....about your phone...I hope you can get it back sha, otherwise, call it one of those losses incurred in business. FamilyRe: It's Takes A Lot To Build A Successful Marriage.......... by twosquare(m):
Alennsar:
I never deny love because I know its very essential in marriage. But I still believe that it is not enough.
It is enough; Love drives everything that is good in the universe. If you say feelings aren't enough...then that's great. I would agree with you but to say love isn't enough...no no no....What you see most 99.9% of people have isn't love but feelings (chemical), and when such situations go bad, they jump out like a deer. Now, check the Scripture's definition of love and tell me if it isn't enough:

Corinthians 13

" Love suffers long and is kind; How many spouses are kind to one another in today's world? As in KIND...or have long-suffering to be able to put up with a situation until it is rectified (this speaks of faith and hope).

love does not envy; Some are envious as if they are not hubby and wifey...one buys a car, the next thing is, are you the husband or me? One is lifted up than the other in monetary terms, the next thing is to be envious of the headship of the house and usurp it, or one build a house; no...i can't go there because of ego, forgetting that they both own each other.

love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;Pride in simple terms, parade or vaunt means to boast about or praise excessively, either you mean it for good or bad; knowing your spouse does not like some things, or you are too proud to say I'm sorry when needed

5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; You know what this means..glaring, how many families (hubby and wife now) do not behave rudely to one another either by speech or actions, seek its own (selfish)- either monetarily, sexually or otherwise...just plain selfishness, angered unnecessarily and will keep malice and all that, thinks no evil...even those who swore before God to be one will batter each other and molest or abuse...we all see it in the news now....all kind of evil..marry a second wife, cheat on husband or wife....I can go on and on

6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; Bad things happen, shit happens, mistakes happen, but you can't bury the hatchet...spouses glorifying in their escapades secretly or openly....know that iniquity is also a lifestyle, same with truth...the lifestyle of Truth you can't find in families, love champions this..it rejoices in truth...and truth is rightness...a wife or husband who rejoices in truth won't break the vow of his/her marriage and matrimonial bed....

7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. This explains itself...no endurance...your wife won't always be figure 8, child will come, fat will come, v-jay will expand....the fitness of the man and six packs will wane...but no we cannot bear that, believe that things can change, hope for a better and successful man or wife will can build from scratch and stop looking at another 'watered' fellow who also was taken care of by someone else...we cannot endure when finances are down and know weeping might endure for a night but joy comes in the morning

8 Love never fails. Finally, love never fails, it is always new, it never wanes in a marriage if you keep to its tenets, instructions, and precepts...it won't fail anyone who is the disciple of love...love is ever fresh and ever new even when shapes are gone, money is gone and what you have is each other...and love also knows that anyone who can not provide for his/her family is worse than an infidel; we have many commandments of love in this just 7 to 8 verses.

Now, Alenssar...if you cannot fulfill all these....do not tell me you have love (I included or anyone on this forum says he or she loves so so so and so...you only have feelings which can dissipate with time...love never fails..love conquers time. Amen.

FamilyRe: It's Takes A Lot To Build A Successful Marriage.......... by twosquare(m): 1:00pm On Apr 01, 2017
Alennsar:
To all the couples out there

I have discovered that love doesn't guarantee the
success of a relationship. Love cannot help you
stick to one person all years round, and on the
other hand, cheating isn't always a product of not
loving your partner. In fact, loving someone
doesn't guarantee not falling in love with
someone else.
Relationships work out mostly because of our
head not our heart. It works out because of our
emotional maturity, empathetic intelligence and
self discipline because, time will come when you'll
see more beautiful, handsome, romantic,
intelligent, sexy, rich, curvy and God fearing
people than the one you're in a relationship with.
In those times, love will not help you; self control
will help you, emotional intelligence will come to
your rescue and commitment will keep you going.
With those characteristics, no matter how you feel
for someone else, the person you're committed to
will rank first in your life.
You think happily married people don't see better
people than the ones they married? You think
they don't feel funny sometimes? You think they
don't catch feelings? They do!
But understanding that commitment is greater
than feelings is the great arsenal that do destroy
that impulse.
You can fall in love with anyone, but building a
relationship takes absolutely more than what
attracted you to them and takes more than love.
We are too fond of loving when it's convenient
and sweet. We are too fond of loving when love is
there but that can only last for just the first 3-6
months of the relationship. After then, you'll
realise that the feelings have dropped, it's now
your responsibility to make it work, not love's
responsibility.
Relationships cannot be readymade. You have to
build it and it's never always about love, it
requires commitment and intelligence. On the long
run in marriages, it's not just love that keeps
them together forever, it's determination and
commitment.
Everyone falls in love; it takes little or no effort to
do that. But staying in love? Building a
relationship? Only the strong and most committed
one do that.
Love is sufficient in all things....love is not feelings..it is a conscious decision to do that which is righteousness. Anyone who can fulfill Love's definition in Corinthians 13, as given by God will have no problem...I'm talking of both spouse now....there must be a balance...both are required to love....not one-sided

Good day all. am in great shock, am so speechless and angry. My elder sister is getting married to her long time sweetheart in two weeks to come. My would be in-law have being the nicest of Men. My dad and mom loves him so much to a fault, I see him as a role model. last night I finished late at work so I had to branch to my would be in-law's place to pass the night because of the crazy Lagos traffic jam. I wouldn't have gone there if big SIS wasn't around. We ate and laughed until deep at night, I stayed back in the visitors room downstairs while my sister and her man went up to their room. Around 3am, I felt a hand on my thighs I woke up only to see my would be in law, a saint we thought, he was in front of me in only boxer and fully erect,i couldn't believe it. when I asked him to leave the room and he forceful kissed and pressed my breast before I pushed him out. I can't believe he wanted to rape me even when my sister was upstairs in the same house. Apart from feeling violated, I feel pity for my big sister, she doesn't know what her man is made of. I can't even tell any one, am confused. No one will believe me because even dad have put him to test and he passed it. My mind is in turmoil, I couldn't even stay at work today. please advise me on what to do. No one should insult me please am down already.

Please my fellow Nairalanders, advice me accordingly.

I am a Batch A Corp member passing out soon. All these while I've been applying for jobs I saw here and on other platforms but my efforts have not yielded much fruits though I'm still hopeful.
However, I have two options I'm currently considering. One is that my PPA (a private secondary school) is willing to retain me for #22k per month with accommodation and secondly I have a job offer with an Indian company to work as a quality control officer for #25k/month.
Now my confusion is that though the Indian company is in my field but their working conditions are terrible. It entails that I work 7am-6pm, Monday -Saturday and live within the factory premises which means no visitors or free movement. But the school offers me time (I'll work 7:30am-3pm, Mon-Fri, free weekend midterm break and holiday) and freedom in case I want to improve myself in other areas.
Now should I choose the Indian company for the sake of experience or the school for the sake of time and freedom it offers?
Finally I studied food science and technology with additional qualifications in Project Management and HSE. I'm open for other job options. I can be contacted through 07050668262.

The cabals now are busy buying up the dollars behind close doors at a cheaper rate...and they will sell it to you again when CBN stops defending the Naira according to their dictates and price is up. It's all business and gimmicks...if you are wise now, better play the game with them.Buy dollars now when it is cheap and sell later coz the cabals will soon hike it....i tell you, it will surpass the N500 threshold.

Bros, calm down for a sec, let's crunch some numbers.

So lets say you earn $1k per month.
You budget $100 for utilities
Within utilities, $50 for petrol and electricity.
Electricity = 20$ (20x350=N7000)
Petrol = 30$ (30x350 =N10500)

N10,500 worth of petrol will fetch you around 73 liters. That's three of those 25L jerry cans of petrol per month.

Sorry, are you illuminating the whole of your street? Do you people never get electricity? Let's even forget the fact that you still have $900 left. You have no basis to complain and mustn't do so.

So what if Police stops you? I have been stopped many times with my laptop in tow and I have always stood my ground and explained that I am not a scammer. They always let me go. What stops you from doing that.

You are so full of excuses and I don't even know why I am expending precious mental energy writing a reply to you.
That's smart, I guess you dodge the point where I said I'm taking you on from the financial angle...that your 2025 picture for freelance earning in Nigeria is not feasible if certain things are not put in place...great countries do not see citizen's complaints as excuses; they go ahead and fix them, and create enabling environment.

To succeed in this game, my bro, throw away this government this, government that mentality.

Sure they have an enabling environment in all those countries but do you know how many Bangladeshi freelancers sleep in cafes because they don't even have a house to sleep in? What is petrol? Bangladesh is number two on Freelancer.com list

Can you exhaust $50 worth of petrol in one month fueling your generator? If you make $1500 per month from a steady gig, are you justified to blame the government?

Government this, government that. Excuses upon excuses. It's not by force bro. If you still look up to the government for powering your computer then I suggest you become a civil servant and not a freelancer.

The only time you are justified to blame government is when broadband connectivity and quality do not improve to match with other countries.
These are not excuses but issues that needs to be addressed...I'm taking this up from the financial angle that that amount is not feasible...if any country is gonna earn that much from freelancing, certains things must be in place...last I remember, the countries you mentioned don't have PP's loophole...you will be amazed at the stability of power supply in some areas even in Bangladesh. And I cant remember anyone in the UK getting arrested for owning a laptop.

And yeah, I do earn above 1k dollars..but I. Will still blame the government because our potentials are being hindered.

I have read this thread from beginning to end and I now see why clients avoid Nigerian freelancers like the bubonic plague: there are a lot of unserious people posturing as freelancers.

No one said it will be easy, no one said it's a walk in the park. Only those who are willing to commit sweat equity and toil to achieve mastery of a given field within this game can really smile.

I initially started out as a writer but I had to leave writing when I discovered that it would take me at least one more year of intense practise and study to up my skills to native speaker level.

I made a switch -- I moved into ecommerce. I watched videos, bought courses, made Shopify websites, learnt Ebay listing and management, made fun Woocommerce shops, studied Magento, payment systems, Customer service, ecommerce book keeping all within a period of six months. Six months of working 7x16 hours daily.

Today, I can beat my chest with confidence and say bring it on. Bring on any aspect of ecommerce and I will handle it.

I work 60 hours per week for two clients and earn $7 and $5 per hour respectively. The two gigs that I work are both long-term gigs that could end up lasting for years as the clients are reputable US ecommerce/finance startups.

Why are my sharing this here? Because I am appalled by the low mentality of my people. My people know that they have no skills and yet want to take jobs because of the money. My people are males yet use female profiles. My people are content with earning sporadically. Whether it is peanuts or substantial matters very little and that breaks my heart.

Anyone reading this: if you can, devote the next 18 months into building your craft. First try to secure a gig that would take care of your necessities before you take the plunge. When you find a gig that you are sure can feed you, clothe you, pay for your utilities and leave a little cash in your pocket, dive in. Then while working this gig, you can continue your learning on the side.

If you do this and make yourself worldclass, forget $100 gigs or whatnot, your skills will catch the attention of the major employers who will reward you beyond your wildest dreams. A Nigerian freelancer that I know is a customer support agent at Levis.com and Aircall.com -- she regularly makes over $40K per year working 50 hours per week.

How did she do it? She spent one year studying English and how to write and speak like a native speaker. This was back in 2015. Today, she is being rewarded handsomely for her efforts.

Be wise brethren and think big.

Freelancing contributed $235B to UK economy in 2016, $450Billion to Indian economy and close to $1Trillion to US economy also in 2016. [s]We can all join hands to make freelancing bring $50Billion to Nigeria by 2025 at least.
[/s]
Think big.
Good write-up but that's because their government created an enabling environment. A country where people still see freelancers as YAHOO YAHOO guy..is that one a country...A country where they can't take care of PayPal's capital flight loophole, is that one a country? Or a country where you spend your freelance take-home on fuel, is that one a country? So, that vision depends largely on the government..even their vision 2020, dem don abandon...truly, there was a country.
