The act of speaking in tongues has always confused me, right from my childhood.

The Bible clearly states 'speaking in tongues' as a gift of the spirit, but there is something I (and I'm pretty sure almost everyone else) have noticed.

All pastors, or at least all that I've come across, speak in a particular tongue.

Is it possible that there are no genuine tonguers in the church today?
Or let's assume 'obobobonopokoskirayayayayaya' actually means something in an archaic language. How is it that they all speak a particular kind of tongue?

Another baffling thing, a Catholic friend actually drew my attention to this, there's a place in the Bible where it is stated that there should be no tongueing without an interpreter.

No one can understand what you say so you shouldn't be doing it in public without someone to decode your sayings.

Is it possible that pastors who do that, you know... Kabash in tongues from dawn to dusk are in the wrong?

Are they hypocrites like the Pharisees, wanting everyone to hear and be in awe of them, or are they simply spirit filled and have no control over their utterances?

Guess you have not been in a spiritual meeting before with angelic visitations. Tongue is not all about "obobobonopokoskirayayayayaya" lol... . If all a believer has been saying is "obobobonopokoskirayayayayaya." Such a believer or pastor should beg God to change his/her language. Apart from ignorance, some is just due to mere laziness...tongues are ever-flowing; it is a spiritual language...I don't know which tribe you are from, but even your parents will be worried if all you could say is bawoni..bawonibawonibawoni or Kedukedukdeudkedu in Yoruba or Igbo language vice versa. Most times, you start with two three syllables...but as times goes on and you use it often...it will begin to change: from phrases to string of sentences and on and on...we have people who pray in tongues for 4 hrs...and if na obobobonopokoskirayayayayaya..you go get tired...

Let me give you another one...I have not just heard tongues prevalent among men, I have also heard angelic tongues spoken and duly interpreted..it all depends on your company of believers. Most of these tongues come when we have reached a height of a message or revelation as a confirmation. Things are happening my sister..if you are interested to hear something close to it...I can give you two messages to download and hear for yourself.

I'm saying you will pull down your own home if you go ahead with the business deal with your EX...but if you do not go ahead, then you are a wise woman who desires to see her home last. Peace!

I will strongly advice you to try and get a job. You need job experience more than anything else nowadays in the country. Doctorate degree is great but how long will you have to wait to have one( with a minimum of 3 yrs for a doctorate, it can take 5 years or more to have one)? If in your 30s, all you have are your certificates, getting a job may be difficult.

Apply for PhD and get a job. Drop the PhD if you can't cope with your job.

My advice is that it depends on what you want, and what God wants.

Firstly, If God is against you getting a Phd because He knows He can provide for your needs with a Masters degree, He would stop you.

Secondly, as much as your parents desire you to go for a PhD, you have to sit down and consider if it is what you want to do. Your weighing the options and coming to a well thought out conclusion is really all that matters.

Do you want to pursue a career path in academics? If yes, then you can study for a Phd but bear in mind that a Phd is quite tasking, and would require someone who is extremely hard working and passionate/focused on the career line he is getting into. If you are considering a Phd for a different career path other than academics, realize that without experience, you would be a very hard sell.

The plan you already have is a very good one too. With a Masters degree, you can get a good job, gain industry experience, and if you still desire to go for a Phd, you then can. This, in my opinion is what I would do if I were in your shoes. But again, if your career line is in academics, things would have been different.

So again weigh your options, and don't be pressured into doing something you would regret later down the line.

I need your perspective on this matter. I'm done with my M.A programme last year Dec. Starting 2017, I will be 27 years in few months time (with no job experience; except my personal online biz) and I'm being pressured by my parents to further my Ph.D. (they being the educational-obsessed type). I feel it is time to get a job and be a man of my own because I don't want to get Ph.D. (with no work experience) and one will now be a source of prayer point in the Church if the job is not forthcoming. With the situation in the country as we have it, I'm disturbed going for such right now will be a waste of time. I might do it later, but right now, I want a better prospect. This issue has turned to something else to the point of exchanging words which I do not fancy. Your views will be appreciated.

Like thorpido said; God is not interested in numbers. He used only 300 men along with Gideon to achieved victory. One with God is majority dear brother. What Christians needs at this time is the demonstration of Spirit and power. When this happens, Even those who gave birth to many children along with their families will be converted into the faith of the Son of God. When the Church has lost her purpose, that's when such nonsense comes up.

It doesn't work that way, bro. We have legal system in the spiritual realm and every action have consequences. It is like saying why shouldn't the Judge of a Supreme Court in Abuja release a criminal caught in the act because he says, "I'm sorry" or an ebola patient be released by the doctor because he/she wants to visit home. What can take away the sin of Adam was another Adam (Jesus is the last Adam; 1 corinthians 15:21-22), and this can be done by shedding the blood of a pure/sinless Adam for the remission of His race. Adam is meant to come to God but to do that; everything called man in him must go, for only God glorifies, and Jesus took all the pain to achieve that for His race (me, you, us).

The single sacrifice is enough. All the sins you see people committing via any means has been settled on the cross once and for all, and most people are doing it due to ignorance (including believers). Why is it ignorance; we do not know that we learn sin; it is not just a nature..most sins were learnt...righteousness also needed to be taught; you can learn righteousness.

Another lame mumbo jumbo...when he shall come...he will get rid of everything called God in man...anyone who has the ability to do that has a full grown stature of that fallen Cherub.
