The reason is that aside from Coscharis, there is hardly any credible BMW or Jaguar mechanic in Nigeria. These cars have mini computers controlling almost everything and sadly our mumu and lazy mechanics refuse to upgrade OR use high end and specialized scanners. They do the usual trial and error and end up messing up the entire system of the car. These cars become almost useless scraps after 1 or 2 years in the hands of Nigerian mechanics. BMW like Benz is still a highly priced vehicle abroad. BMW only becomes junk when it enters Nigeria because mechanics have killed the car. Benz has a long history in Nigeria and you still find many mechanics that have sufficiently upgraded their craft. These Benz mechanics only charge an arm and a leg for their services.
RUN from Nigerian used BMW if you haven't invested in a high end specialized scanner (costing 200k and above) to diagnose the fault. If the scanner does not read ANY code after being driven in Nigeria, also run! They must have tampered with the car. Our lead ladden fuel alone should pull out a code.
