The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has asked a federal high court in Abuja to dismiss a suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against President-elect Bola Tinubu. The PDP and Dino Melaye, a chieftain of the party, had filed an order of mandamus to compel the NDLEA to arrest and prosecute Tinubu over an alleged forfeiture of funds relating to narcotics trafficking in the US. In a preliminary objection filed on Wednesday, Joseph Sunday, director of prosecution of the NDLEA, said the application by the PDP and Melaye is “incompetent” and that the court lacks the jurisdiction to entertain it. The anti-narcotics agency said the suit by the opposition party should be struck out because it is “political in nature”, adding that it is not in the interest of Nigerians. The NDLEA said the suit was targeted at removing Tinubu as a bonafide candidate in the February 25 presidential election. The agency argued that an order of mandamus is an equitable remedy and should only be applied in good faith and should not produce an indirect or underlying result. “The doctrine of judicial self-restraint precludes this honourable court from delving into matters with political colouration or matters aimed at getting direct or indirect political goals,” the suit reads. Following the success of the regional security outfit code-named Amotekun and other regional initiatives, Southwest states have agreed to launch regional railway and electricity projects. The decision came on the heels of the Electricity and Railway Acts 2023, which were recently signed by President Muhammadu Buhari. The new laws decentralised operation of power and rail among others. The items had been on the Exclusive List for decades, a factor experts have consistently described as a cog in the wheel of progress in the two sectors. At the end of a two-day conference on the subjects in Akure, the Ondo State capital, yesterday, the six states agreed to pursue regional power and rail projects to deliver economic and social benefits to the region. Organised by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, in collaboration with Odu’a Investments Company Ltd., the conference, which was hosted by the Ondo State Investments Promotion Agency (ODSIPA), highlighted the need for each state to build projects in the two sectors and build inter-connectivity among them. Stop beating yourself up. It is great that you have set a target for yourself. If you have not met the milestones , reset it again and start working towards it with the things you have learnt from your earlier failures. Set a new realistic yearly and 5yearly target. Re-evaluate and restrategize at 45 and 50 year old. Celebrate your little achievements to motivate you for the big ones. We are always too competitive and comparing ourselves with others. DONT DRIVE YOURSELF INTO DEPRESSION! Don’t forget there are people your age with no jobs, no money, no wife, no children and no good health!
