The conflict btw Galileo vs Catholic Church is same with Science vs Authority/Dogma.

Christianity has found its "truth", Science is still searching both have different methods and assumptions, therefore it is not unexpected for both to conflict.

d trial of galileo was more sciency than dogmatic, galileo and other scientist had an arguement and d oda guys brought d bible as proof, galileo used a quote from augustine and said scriptures shuldn't be taken literally. Unfortunately at that point both scientist had left science and were discussing religion, galileo had supporter in d church, d pope and d jesuits! He insulted d jesuits over a different arguement so it remained the pope. Since galileo's arguement had become religious he went to rome to make his case, and he was told that unless d literal sense is problematic it would be manipulative to stray from it, he was asked to produce substantial proof that d earth was round and dat it moved around d sun, he couldn't, his opponent had a better arguement, if d earth moved dere shuld be a steller parallax in d stars, none had yet been observe, since galileo couldnt prove dat d literal sense was problematic it followed that d literal sense of upheld. And all xtian scientist were told to take d round moving earth as nothing more than an hypothesis until substantial proof appears. And galileo was silient 4 some time.
Galileo's friend became pope urban and urban gave galileo a way to beat d law, d was told to write on both positions and in d case to make his arguement known, unfortunately galileo insulted urban in d book and urban removed his protective hands. I think everybody knows d story from there.
So my point is nothing was exactly dogmatic abt galileo's trial, all he had to do was provide substantial proof for his hypothesis. Bringing his arguements into scripture meant it was no longer science, it was now religion and he was judged accdingly.

d church is not a building! And d church isnt specifically me! The church is d body of christ and by faith and baptism i was added to that body. The church is one person, it is an assembly of God's people. I blive u knw d passages im refering to, if not just request them.
