I don't believe I have ever said the word "nonsense" at all. Nor have I ever attacked anyone no matter how much they doubted. I don't believe it was any kind of "hell of a coincidence". I believe that I have been praying for a long time that God would use me to bless my family - including my husband - and He did. I believe it was God's intervention. That's all.
Yeah, God works in miraculous ways. And remenber, most miracles are usually unbelievable.

But like I have said, recent events have made me believe U a little more. So, Goodluck and I really think U are an awesome step mother!!!!

I bet You that Fiddy did not even know what the song was all about. Of course, he would move. He was standing right there on stage with him!!!! You want him to be standing still like a stick while Eedris was jumping all over the stage as if he smoked kryptonite. That would be disrespectful naaa  cheesy

You know, Google is a funny powerful tool. Yes, I was bored and had a few minutes to kill before going home for the day. I was looking at recipes. Something brought me to Nairaland. At that time this thread was right on the front page near the top of the Featured Forum Links. My husband's name jumped of the page at me. I wouldn't consider myself a "non-nigerian" exactly. Since my husband is Nigerian I have more interest than the average American.
@ romeo

You can't really say that Senator JD does not have basis for his skepticism. I really had serious trouble trying to reconcile the time frame bewteen Inky's posting and Hantayo's discovery of Nairaland. I was like " This must be one hell of a co incidence"  grin  Anyway, subsequent events is making me believe the story a little bit more. However, You can't dismiss the skepticism of others as just nonsense.
TV/MoviesRe: Nollywood Or Igbowood? by Uche2nna(m): 6:45pm On May 08, 2008
@ Luca

Everybody knows that there were Yoruba movies being made way before Living in Bondage. And maybe You did not research properly, there were also a lot of Igbo movies and Hausa movies being made way before Living in Bondage. However, most of those movies did not get attain the commercial success that LIB reached. And there were plenty of reasons behind that ranging from lack of a commercially appealing story line, low budget , inadequate promotion to very poor marketing strategies. Living in Bondage, I think, was the first movie to put all these into considerations. It is not by co incidence that most of the movies that immediately followed LIB was almost of the same story line with LIB with some variation. Everybody wanted to stick to the winning formula.

U sef!!!
We have to start from somewhere now grin

But on a serious note, I dont think the government would come chasing after any producer who would wanna make a movie about Fela's life. He is already controversy personified , and as DR stated that would be adding more aura to his mystique.

romeo:
Fela's movie will be a very good thing for our countries image culturally, but will the government allow a movie about Fela? Because Fela's life is filled with horror stories of our former military dictators and most of them are still alive
Well, if his songs ( especially the ones where he dissed Obj and Yar' adua) are still being sold freely in the market then there is no reason to think that the present govt would attempt to resist made in his honor.

By the way, I have seen a quasi documentary on his life , his interviews and his music compiled in one CD. It is still sold freely in the market. Obj and Yar' adua were once again not spared.

Abeg, what has the performance of a Nigerian at Under-17 level to do with anything? huh In a country notorious for age cheats, such youth competitions don't count. Why won't he do well when he is playing against kids young enough to be his children?

If he was really that good,he could have taken his exploits to senior level. He barely got a regular shirt at Grasshoppers.

Abeg, who remembers Sammy Ayorinde? The Father of All Mystery call-ups!

Another player that comes to mind is Chikelue Iloenyosi. . . .he had allegedly retired from football and was working as an auto importer when he was still being called up for the national team. grin grin

Big B1:
Some running mates are very strong, but not strong enough to be the main flag bearer.

Absolutely, his running mate will be a popular, lovable red neck republican, who doesn't give a shit about black folks
And that will do him good, how?  undecided

It would be intersting to see how the votes of the so-called republican would be cast.

Utah is a republican state but the most of the younger generation are leaning towards casting thier votes in favour of the democratic party.
PoliticsRe: Is It Over For Hillary Clinton? by Uche2nna(m): 6:09pm On May 07, 2008
Big B1:
FYI:McCain is not the key; his running mate will be the main key to the White House
Really?

Would he choose a running mate from the democratic party? I guess not.

I assume his running mate would be from the republican party. Why wasn't the running mate (whoever it may be) nominated as the flag bearer in the first place?

No matter who he chooses as his running mate, I think the winner of the next polls would be the democratic party; be it Obama or Hillary or Obama and Hillary.

PoliticsRe: Is It Over For Hillary Clinton? by Uche2nna(m): 5:55pm On May 07, 2008
Well given that Mccain threw jabs at him over his ties with William Ayer, I would expect other jabs. And the Rev Wright of a man provides another angle.

Any one imagine a situation where Obama is given the ticket while Hillary is made the running mate undecided
PoliticsRe: Is It Over For Hillary Clinton? by Uche2nna(m): 5:23pm On May 07, 2008
I hope he does Obama a favour in the coming months and just keeps his mouth shut. He has done enuff damage as it is. Trust Mccain to use that as one of his strategies during the general elections.

And it is not as if he is coming in as an under study. 4 years from now that guy would be officially 30 (u and I knows that means 38 in real time grin)

I am saying that is the only option left for Hillary to explore. Is it gonna work out, me thinks no too.

One of the reasons why I REALLY enjoyed my NYSC dayz in Ondo State. Plenty of plaintain and cheap for that matter.

Plaintain here is very costly and they look kind of sickly angry
PoliticsRe: Is It Over For Hillary Clinton? by Uche2nna(m): 4:51pm On May 07, 2008
Well, her strategy now is to make a plea to the super delegates.

And plis can someone tell me what is the deal with Rev. Wright? Me thinks he is doing Obama more harm than good.

A foolish man is one who thinks that being married entitles him to a lifetime of laziness and ordering his wife around. . . that is not submission, that is slavery.
I wonder when Wendy would understand that undecided
RomanceRe: Nigerians Marrying Nigerians Raised In The Us by Uche2nna(m): 4:18pm On May 07, 2008
Well, no matter what other posts says it does not make it true. If thats what U are afraid then thats not true. Being submissive to ur man does not mean he is exempt from house chores. Matter of fact , part of being the head of the house is actually knowing when to step in and make his wife's life a little bit easier on the domestic front. I have said plenty times , being submissive does not make U a slave neither does it make him ur boss. U should see him more of a leader than a ruler. Those two are really different in meaning , function and significance.

. I don't mind cooking because I can throw down. I don't mind cleaning because filth disgusts me however the husband should also help equally as in cook when am not in the mood to. He can't just sit his butt down because he is MAN the gift to womanhood.
Now U are confusing me.

Who says being submissive to ur man exempts him from doing any type of house chores ? undecided
RomanceRe: Nigerians Marrying Nigerians Raised In The Us by Uche2nna(m): 6:35am On May 07, 2008
Well ,most of ur posts smacks of pride. It seems to U that if u submit U would lose ur pride as a 21st century woman, U would lose ur pride as a doctor or proffessor in ur field of endeavor or as a boss in an enterprise. Thats why I used the word humility. Submissiveness would not make U lose all that. U can be submissive to ur hubby and still retain all ur diginity and relevance in the marriage , and then some.

Just like assertiveness does not necessarily equate to rudeness (ur own words), submissiveness does not necessarily equate to slavery.
RomanceRe: Nigerians Marrying Nigerians Raised In The Us by Uche2nna(m): 6:25am On May 07, 2008

As my mom puts it she was not bought. Both my parents I guess are forward thinkers because they don't believe in the dowry system. In the case of waiting for a marriage proposal. . . am shy until I want something and if I want something really bad I go for it believe, if I ever think a man is worth spending a life for then am asking. And am also one of those contemplating keeping or extending my last name especially since I want to get a doctorate degree.
I would give U that. I have been a witness grin

Unless showing my kids that mother is not an idiot but believes everyone has rights or teaching the children they should be assertive is telling them not to listen to their husband then no.

Also we should submit but men are women wrapper. There are just too many inconsistencies in this whole belief system.
It is ur job as a woman to teach them there are two sides to a coin. If U are teaching them assertiveness, U should also let them know of humility.

Assertiveness to the point of rudeness and with no regard to instituted authority would be counter-active.

I bet as a mom, U would want ur first issue to be in control of the other siblings if u are not in the house?  undecided
