@honey The antimalaria is a preventive measure; whether you have malaria or not, they give it in 9ja as preventive measure...l was given twice in my 2nd trimester. No course for alarm. @all, Shea butter helps with stretchmark. I was almost developing it two years ago, it showed on my bum bum, immediately made shea butter my everyday cream and it surpressed all the stretchmarks and no new ones appeared again on my bumbum. 30weeks this weekend and no single stretchmark and no single itching. its the itching that brings out the stretchmarks, this is what shea butter actually prevents because it moisturises the body very well. |
@centje, I still be amatur ooo , l joined the forum to learn from people like you abegi. I never treat anybody o, only have the theortical knowledge as a result of the training. |
@bigmom ori heals stretch marks but it takes lots of time when the marks are already out. the best is to start earlier in ur pregancy...to prevent it. l started it from day one and no single stretch mark on my belle, praying l dont develop any till and after this pregancy. |
@ Primerose Go to Nig Redcross society for the training. I got certified as a firstaider last weekend. Just basic first, may be doing d advanced course next year. The certification lasts for 3 years, after which u renew it. @poster Pls dont allow this thread die o. |
@poster, Dont be fooled with B.Sc and HND discrepancies of 'old', nothing like that in a serious company. those headaches were brought about by banking industry in their reigning days...of course you dont want to work in a bank now. Look for relevant professional certifications and get specilised in your field... the skye is not even your limit. I work in O&G coy as HR, B.Sc/HND means nothing to us..what matters is what you are brining to the table! |
healthplus (the palms lekki No: 2714496) healthplus (isaac jones ikeja No: 7400722; 0805531802) Call them for any other branch nearest to you, if these are far from where you live. |

Congratulations to double blessing for d birth of her baby girl. Hurry hury hurry!!! Thank God for giving us safe delivery in ds forum. I got d gist from ivf thread. @favoredgal Bloating is d only pg wahala that has really affected me in this pg, from mild to moderate and severe. The only tip is to checkout ur diet, stop those food that causes u to bloat. Mine was initially anything carbonated drink, egg, now is beans and eating heavy meal at a time. Pls dont starve as a remedy. Ysterday i ate only once cuz i ate beans and bread in d morning and got bloated till ds morning, tokk only pap and went to church, at church Noticed i was sweating even when pple where shivering with cold cuz of ACs everywhere in d auditorium. Had to send for my DH who bought one gala and water, after eating i got revived oo, so no starve pls, eat small small |
Congrats favorgal on ur scan result. For pvc its best managed with ugu juice than d iron tablets doc wl give u, even my doc confirmed that. You can imagine mr google said low pvc is a sign of healthy pregancy, we dont know what to believe shaa, pls manage it as much as u can, but dont be scared abt it, its one of those things that goes wt pg provided its not too low. |
@double blessing. Good to hear from you. You are already there. @marygold Did u get the red raspberry tea? |

@venus, lolll we are same...l stalk this thread everyday for the goodnews of the birth of the triplets too. Thank you Jesus for their successful birth in advance! |
@hummingbird The dusphaston with me is 10mg 20 in a pack. Cylogest 400mg. |
Done with hosp appt for today. Did oral glucose tolerance test. Discuss d 'ajibutter' kicking wt doc, he laughed, said baby kick supposed to be mild and non-painful. Its painful if one has fibriod or cyst which if baby touches, d mum feels d pain. My appt is now 2-2 wks, hv changed appt days so i can be attending antenatal classes, hv no option than to creat time for it. @hummingbird Ok.cant remember d mg of d dusphaston i used, wil check pack if i still hv at home. |
@chiejik take heart dear, the Lord will replace your loss in a big way. @Audrey cyclogest is abt N4,500. I cant remember the cost of duphaston but not N8k as hummingbird said, its in the neighbourhood of 3k. I have two packs of cyclogest to give away...we can arrange for collection if you are around Victoria Island. |
Hello Mamas, How una dey do? I want to be in this 100th page!! My appointment is today. l sure say my appt days will change to two two weeks from now on. Thanking God for bringing me into third Trimester... to Him be all the glory! @all l have not been attending antenatal classes...have l really be missing? is it compulsory to attend? |
@iphie your post is too touchy. My prayer is that the Almighty God that fought my battles and visited me will surely visit you. He will make you a source of congratulations and no longer prayer point. People will see you and begin to give God glory and not looking at you with pity. l asked my DH this morning, his greatest testimony, he said quoting him"I thank God that very soon greeting pattern will change in my life, from how is madam to how is madam and children" may this be your portion! I complained before of friends and colleagues not telling me when they give birth. The story has changed, by virtue of my position in the office, l supposed to be the first to know of birth stories so l can send notification to other staff, but the reversed has always been the case. since this pg, two staff gave birth... and l was immediately informed as well as personally invited to the namings. May your stories change; May the Lord Himself remove this PLAGUE called TTC from you and all here IJN! It well my sister...One thing am very SURE of is that it MUST HAPPEN...the only problem is that we dont know WHEN. |
@prettyrose They wont give u d drugs by requesting as usual of all of the hospitals, but if you complain or fake sickness they will hv no option than to oblige you. Dont blame them sometime; some hosp d HMOs pay certain amt on behalf of each pers per month to them, which they hv to maximise but with some 5star hospi its on fee for service, so the later can easily oblige. Pls how much does NHIS with govt hospitals cost? |
@cjone, National Insurance Scheme does not cover fertility treatment. But if your company is on the higest plan like mine, you could use style style do all the necessary test which are actually fertility testing. Most of my hormonal test are done under the HMO, i will just complain unecessary and plead with the doc to run the test, if l need scan l will form as if belle dey pain me, and of course they will do it... and l will specifically tell the sonography what l actually want to check for. during the miscarriages.... was another opporutnity to request for more tests, my complaint will be tinted towards the kind of test l want done. For instance, if your hubby want to do sperm count/culture, he could complain that his bloko dey pain him , of course they will request him to culture for infection and you kukuma tell the lab to include sperm count test. l did it and it worked for me shaa. |
@luvlystar Sorry dear. What tests hv u done so far? Where u on progesterone supplement and it still happened? If the cause is hormonal, ur doc will place u on progesterone or baby aspirin. In some case it could be stress which is solved by strict bed and pelvic rest. Another question is at what stage does d mc occur; a 2nd trimester mc could be as a result of cerivcal incompetence. Infection also causes mc at any stage. If none of d above is d case, my sister you could meet good traditional midwives, they wl check you and proffer right herb for it. Above all, bear in mind that this is a battle you must win. I had 5 medically confirmed MCs but today am 28weeks pg to d glory of God. If it can happen for me it wl happen for u too! |
@marygold Thanks ur contribution is too helful to me. I think it has to do with position of d placenta or as MummyF said above. Everybody is different as well as babies behave differently. @byvan and mummyf thanks also. |
@all I can say categorically that l feel my baby for real when the baby hiccups, without the hiccuping, what l feel is like just flutters. At 28weeks l should feel the painful kicks nau . Not that am looking for pain ooo, but.... . For about 2days ago the baby was not hipcuping l felt worried thinking of less movement, though they once in a while fluttering was there. This afternoon the baby started hipcuping again, and l must say l feel better with the hiccup. My next appt is next tuesday, l wish to know the position of the placenta it should be the reason for non-painful kick at this stage. |
@marygold congrats ooo, u are almost there. I will also take the red raspberry leaf when l get to week 36. its readily available at big pharmacies, in Lagos Health Plus pharmacies sell it about N2500. @bsoda congrats sis! l like the babe size jare, l have been asking God for 3.0kg at birth only no plus . |
Rukemi Thank u my sis. I will enter 3 trimester by weekend i.e 28weeks,i guess my body is getting prepared for it, am trusting God that this last trimester shall be better than the previous. God will make it easy for us all and give us our JOYs at d end. @double blessing How are you doing now dear? |
@Rukemi loll...same with my hubby, l was gently o pressing my tommy to feel baby movement, hubby shouted..stop it,do you want to suffocate the baby? since then l dont do any stuff with my tommy when he is around. @all, yesteday, l had serious leg and body pain... , just on the left side... thank God after afternoon sleep all the pain went, till now nothing. |
Hello everyone Thanks for checking on me, we are doing fine. @prettyrose my very first sign was a sharp pain on my belle button...was even scared thinking the 'ehi' stuff has increased, but when l discussed with offline friend, she said it should be sign of pg...behold when l googled l noticed its actually a sign. the pain lasted from DPO11 - DPO15.. l guess that was implantation pain. then followed with tender brea.st which was actually normal for me when af is approaching. |
@nice14 I can feel your Joy.... It shall be permanent. Praise God for the goodnews...only goodneWs wl come out of our camps! |
Good morning sis.... for the yam theory..... l got so confused that l made so much inquriy to know the exact yam (online search will call it african potatoes, the usual yam or some say wild yam....search will also show different photos of the supposed yam.) but I got to understand that its actually 'UNA or ONA' in igbo language.... dont know how to describe it.... this my understanding may actually be wrong too. The best maybe to buy the supplement....readily available at healthplus pharmacy branches. @Baaby blocked tubes after 3 children is possible. Possible causes of blocked tubes are: 1. miscarriage/birth 2. PID 3. Surgery 4. Abortion 5. and ......thinking |
@wonyi sorry my sister, have been MIA. EDA is yoruba name for sper.m spilling out after bd. Orinwa aka Ehi is a worm kind of movement thats asssociated with bits below the belle button moslyt before or during af. That was my experience then, and whenever l conceived the bit will become constant. IMO they are different things. |
