Dear Nairalanders,
I’m in a dilemma and need your advice
There’s this friend of mine who out of the blue contacted me last year October asking for a favor to come stay at my place a couple of days since she had an interview in Abuja. I allowed in her without hesitation since I thought it was just going to be a few days. Fortunately, she got the job.

When she got the job in October, she asked me to pls allow her stay for two months before getting her place. My people, it’s been five months already and she’s still not making any moves to get her own place.

The problem really is I am currently jobless. She doesn’t contribute anything to the house. I am responsible for our feeding, gas, electricity, everything! And I do not have money. The little money I have is from my generous elder sister who has been my helper since I lost my job. Weekends she sleeps all through while I clean the house. I also do all the cooking. She doesn’t cook.

I am a light sleeper so I get up at any slight movement. This lady gets up between 3 to 4 times every night to use the restroom thus keeping me awake all through the night. This really has a toll on me. During the day she goes to the restroom between 14 to 16 times. She doesn’t contribute to buy foodstuff but she eats 4 times a day

What have I gotten myself into. Please how do I politely ask her to leave without hurting her feelings and savaging the relationship I use to have with her. I am tired, depressed and jobless!

She would feel relaxed knowing fully well that free manna is coming from heaven through you. But when you withhold one or two, like say gas, cooking of foods she go wise up except if she be foolish girl

And please, your feelings Dey hurt but you don’t want to hurt hers? At your expense? Tell her that you can’t shoulder the household responsibilities anymore, is either she leaves or she brings half half of everything.

unlike the chinese and Indians. Nigeria have not done well in this regard. The businesses are mostly self run or they employ foreigners based there. My dad’s friend had a estate agent business in uk. Employed mostly white. The most common businesses done by Nigerians include African food businesses/ restaurants, trucking business, real estate, staffing/ recruitmentFor those willing to bring staff from Nigeria. It will be mostly their relatives.

No one can stop the society/family from this marriage talks especially when they feel the person has come to a marriageable age.
I will just advice that you give yourself your happiness and peace, minimise the family visits, minimise the phone calls but try not to go invisible( we still need family) . Just get it at the back of your mind that their constant demand for you to get married isn’t coming from a place of trouble, they just mean well for you, you know ? Getting married, having kids ( society see this as success) but what you owe yourself is happiness, you can’t automatically run into marriage with any kind of guy, with this present guys in naija woman need to shine eyes o.

My ex and I separated on good terms, he is AS likewise myself so we had to go on our separate ways. It over 6 years that we separated but we still talk once in a while. I don’t have any feelings for him anymore but I don’t know about him and I don’t have any intention of seeing him either though we are far away from each other.

I don’t want to block him and I don’t want to offend him ,but when I take a picture with a random male friend and I upload it on my status ,he tells me he is jealous that the guy is an idiot for holding me or touching me. *INFORMATION ON UK VISA FOR NIGERIAN TEACHERS!*

*UK Acceptance of Nigerian Teachers Via QTS (Qualified Teachers Status) officially starts today- February 1, 2023*

Please take note of this information before you apply:

1. Only University Degree is allowed. NCE, Grade II from Nigeria does not meet the requirements.

2. The teachers should be qualified to teach children aged 11-16 in one of the following subjects (Maths, Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Madarin, Russian, Spanish).

3. Your qualification (Certificate or transcript) must show you can teach one of the above subjects or at least 50% of the applicant’s university degree should reflect one of the subjects above.

4. You will need to upload your proof of qualification (University Certificate and Transcript)

5. The good news is that Nigerian Teachers do not need to write any Test of English(e.g IELTS) as long as your course was completely taught in English Language. So, you need to request “English Language Proficiency” document form your University.

6. You will need to upload one of these Proofs of Identity (International Passport, Birth Certificate, National ID)- Marriage Certificate as a supplement document can be uploaded for our females that have changed their names.

7. You will need to provide a Letter of Professional Standing from the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

8. You cannot send Letter of Professional Standing from TRCN yourself. You will need to apply via Lops@trcn.gov.ng

9. The applicant needs to contact TRCN to send the Letter of Professional Standing to ApplyQTS.verification@education.gov.uk

10. The Letter of Professional Standing must be dated 3 months the applicant applies for QTS online.

11. The Letter of Professional Standing must be received in UK within 90 days, if not the application for QTS will be closed. Please do proper follow up on TRCN to send it on time.

12. Once you apply for your QTS online, a reference number will be generated. This reference number must be given to TRCN as a proof of your application.

13. TRCN will require you to pay them N60,000.00

14. At the application of
QTS, references will be required to confirm that you are a qualified Teacher- Name and Email Addresses of your referees will be required.

15. Apply for QTS UK on this site: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apply-for-qualified-teacher-status-qts-if-you-teach-outside-the-uk/routes-to-qualified-teacher-status-qts-for-teachers-and-those-with-teaching-experience-outside-the-uk

Go to Apply for QTS.

NOTE:

*Once you apply for QTS, this does not automatically take you to UK.*

*Once you have gotten your QTS, this will make you to apply for teaching jobs in UK. With your QTS, you have the high chance of being shortlisted for interview once you apply for jobs*

*Once the school finds you suitable for the job, you can then be sponsored on work visa permit.*
