Hello all. My family got there visa in June with the validity commencing from July 20th. They are dependants of a skilled worker. I know skilled workers should resume at work within 28days of receiving visa, does this apply to the dependants please?

Does it really matter when they choose to travel? Thank you

It doesn't matter........go resume work and your family will come later, except you have enough money to come with your family together.

We are getting there gradually, I don't believe the structure & efficiency was like this 20 years ago (i stand to be corrected on this o). it's not going to happen overnight but gradually section by sector. At least the surgeries are privately owned, just Govt funded, the structure for privatization is there already na just to dey add and expand exclusion list

The beet thing is for the NHS to be privatised, but many patients in the UK won't be able to pay for the services

So Credit Cards (CCs) are one of the best Credit Tools you can have but yes, like every good thing, it does have its dangers.

Most folks here are trying to build Credit Score and to be very honest, CCs are the easiest way to do so. There are so many other ways, of course, and you should do them: Registering in the Electoral Register, Setting up Direct Debits for Utility Bills, Phone/SIM Contracts, etc but from experience since these are not Credit facilities, they may not boost your score as much as a CC.

The rules of CC usage are simple: ensure you pay at least the minimum balance (usually 10% of your usage as at the statement date). So if your cycle is 1st to 30th of every month, on the 30th, you get a statement saying you have used £2,000 and you are given a grace period (typically extra 14 to 23 days) to pay back 10% or more, and whatever balance is unpaid, interest will be charged to the card after the grace period. During this grace period, the next cycle has obviously started running. And the next month balance will sum of what you spent in the month, plus the unpaid balance from the previous month and the interest added. IF YOU DON'T PAY THIS MINIMUM, YOU HAVE DEFAULTED.

Now, the main reasons why CCs are a brilliant facility are evident:
1. Their Interest-free periods means you can use them without ever paying interests: to do this, you must pay everything in full as the interest only starts counting on the unpaid balance after the grace period. An exception is usually Cash Withdrawals, Interest on Cash Withdrawals start counting immediately. Another evil trick of Cash Withdrawal is usually that their interest is higher. There's another evil of Cash Withdrawals but it might be a little technical to explain in this post. Just avoid Cash Withdrawals if you don't want interest
2. CCs are revolving, meaning they are like Overdrafts, not Term Loans, so if I have a limit of £6k, when I spend it and repay, my full limit is re-instated, so I don’t need to re-apply (ever) unless I void the contract. 3. Rewards: Most CCs earn you Miles, Points, etc for usage and referrals.
4. Fees: Many CCs come with little or no extra fees to the Cardholder. I could go on and on.

So, pretty much, you can use your Debit Card for only Cash Withdrawal and use Cash for non-Card payments, while you use your CC for everything else and pay little or no interest while building your credit score.

Now, as beautiful as it sounds, in my 7 years as a Credit Card Product Manager, I have seen so many people wallow in heavy credit card debts. The truth is most humans are not just disciplined enough to handle such an allowance of funds. They deep their hands into it at the slightest opportunity and end up living above their means. CCs are very addictive so don't get a CC if you love to spend, the CC provider would love you and keep increasing your limit and you may land in a gloomy state: you earn just £2k monthly and are given a £6k CC, as you spend and spend, they keep increasing the limit and before you know it, you have a £20k CC fully spent on that Funeral you sponsored in Oshogbo and that trip to Turkey. How will you pay You break the card and start paying back £600 monthly, but that covers only the interest and the amount is NOT reducing every month. You realize you are stuck and have fallen for our trap and that is how we make our interest income and cover for those who are using the card wisely.

I'm sorry this post was really long, I even had to cut this short because I could go on and on about the benefits of CC (purchase protection, chargeback, acceptance, etc), the financially wise know this and hardly ever use Debit Cards but enjoy the benefits of a CC. The financially foolish use CCs to have fun for a few years or months and spend the rest of their lives as slaves to it. The choice is yours!

well said oga mi.... grin

We the illegals would continually look from the sidelines........... cheesy

How person go withdraw with CC?

Maximum online usage in a month is 20% for anyone and its should be already in the user bank account to pay back full via direct debit.... grin

I don't have any information on that. I think people setup direct debits to pay minimum balance. If you pay it off at once, no need to setup direct debit.

Credit card companies would suggest you pay like 10% of your debt as minimum. So, if you owe £240. You may be required to pay £25 as minimum each month.

That means, it will take you 10months to completely pay off and an extra £60 in credit card companies pocket.

That's why you want to pay off as much as possible.

It's always wise to set up direct debit to pay off your complete balance every month to avoid paying anything extra to the credit card company grin grin.

Thanks, I appreciate

Does it matter if direct debit is set up from my Monzo or Chase?
Does it matter to credit agencies?

It does not matter, it's better to use direct debit to avoid forgetting the payment. Also make sure your bank account is well funded before the debit date.

No, it's a personal preference.
While you can pay back immediately you spend on the card. It's better after your statement has been generated
If you pay back immediately you spend, by the time your statement is generated your account will have £0 spend.
So things like your credit utilisation won't be computed.

Very apt....

Thank for your advice.

My messages delivered to him on whatsapp but it doesn't show read. I think he reads them but just ignores. I wonder what he feels like. I learnt he's a young chap (less than 30). It's a big building with many flats and I think he's the one managing it for his old man.

We were assigned a facility manager to our flat and the guy is very responsive and reliable. I just messaged him now to enquire about the well-being of my landlord. He said the guy is away on vacation, that I should let him know if I need anything so that he can relay the request to him. But in the draft agreement, it was mentioned that I can relate with the landlord directly when necessary.

If my new landlord must reach out to my current landlord for referencing purpose, I may just wait till the end of the 6 months tenancy before leaving but how to get my deposit back is the koko in case he wants to prove funny.

cc justwise davide470

Good you confirmed what l was thinking....vacation....

I just think he went on holiday, because this is holiday season here and the landlord doesn't want disturbances. He will respond to all your mails when he comes back.

Why is the house so cold that warrants heating up at this time most people have even off their heaters. With time, you will adjust to the summer weather and reduce the energy bills

Yes now, for a 50yr mortgage just imagine how much interest you'd have to pay on that. Instead of focusing developing more affordable housing and preventing all these shady investment practices that drive up the price of the remaining housing stock, the government is instead ensuring its coffers remain topped up to the brim.
This scheme is designed like almost everything else, to take advantage of the poor, though it seems like it's meant to help them when considered at face value.

Haba....... Look on the brighter side ........

- Deposit would be minimal
- Repayments would also be very minimal

It's called, shared generational debt responsibility payment ....... No point rushing, you have 50 years to pay it all up ....... grin

Interest payments would put a very big smile on the lenders face.......... But they are robbing your back, you have to rub their back too ........... grin

50 years?

What if the children refuse to continue the mortgage?

Na generational debts be this ooo instead of generational wealth......

Call your bank and open a dispute. Explain that you paid an agreed holding fee that is refundable so as to view the vehicle but you lost interest when you saw that the item didn’t match what you saw online. Also explain that you’ve contacted the seller and they are refusing to send a refund even though you did not make the purchase. Your bank will perform magic for you.
