Nairaland GeneralMigrants Gang-rape French Girl At Eiffel Tower In Paris! by uneeking(op): 5:02am On Sep 19, 2016
Thanks to mass immigration, Paris has gone from the city of love to the city of rape.

A TEENAGER in Paris has been found tied up and gagged after being gang raped by a group of illegal immigrants next to the Eiffel Tower.

The 19-year-old French girl was lured to the monument on the proviso of a ‘date’ set up through Facebook.

She responded to messages from who she thought was a 17-year-old Tunisian boy and initially met him close to her home in the Paris suburbs.

Who knew this was a double entendre?

Last Sunday evening she turned up for another date where she expected to have a picnic with the boy at the Champs des Mars, the park where the Eiffel Tower is, and was attacked.

A source close to the case, said: “It was a warm night, and she expected to eat strawberries and grapes, and to drink Coke, but then the attack took place.”

The woman was dragged under a bush behind where a blanket had been laid out.

She was then assaulted by three men who then gagged, beat her up and tied her up.

Nairaland GeneralHow The Love Between Genevieve Nnaji And Her Lover, Ugochukwu Udezue Finally Die by uneeking(op): 7:23am On Sep 18, 2016
A mistress should be like a little country retreat near town, not a place to dwell in constantly, but only for a night and a chance away from the house. But top actress, Genevieve Nnaji did not know that. Maybe she knew but was simply too carried away to give a hoot about the truism. Whatever, truth is she has learnt the hard way and has definitely moved on with her life.

Apparently, their mutual attraction has run its full course and has thus flickered out like a dying firelight. According to HPRtv; “Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji has lost her only chance of marrying this year because her secret lover has called off their wedding. Unknown to many, the pretty Nollywood single mother sparked off a secret romance with Ugochukwu Udezue, a wealthy NBA basketball agent based in Denver Colorado last year. Nairaland GeneralLiverpool F.C. – BPL Title Contenders? by uneeking(op): 10:08am On Sep 17, 2016
Might Liverpool have finally turned a corner under manager Jurgen Klopp?

He’s been in charge almost a year now. And if his side’s unexpected run to the Europa League final in the remainder of last season, which he took over in October, was promising, he may now be delivering. On Friday, his Reds went to Chelsea and defeated the undefeated Londoners 2-1.

The game was preceded by a lights show, for some reason.

And then fireworks followed. Liverpool played an energetic first half in which its swashbuckling attack battered Chelsea’s stout defense to bits.

“The beginning was brilliant, brilliant for my side,” Klopp declared after the game. “We played football like hell. It was really nice to watch.”

In the 17th minute, after some nervy stuff in the back for Liverpool, Philippe Coutinho swung in a cross to the far post where four Reds were wide open and central defender Dejan Lovren finished cleanly.

In the 36th minute, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson scored on an absolutely perfect long shot from way outside the penalty area.

Chelsea turned up much stronger in the second half, pressuring Liverpool hard and forcing those predictable defensive mistakes. After an hour, Joel Matip was beaten to the end line by Nemanja Matic, who chipped the ball back to Diego Costa. The Brazilian-Spanish striker stabbed his one chance home.

Nairaland GeneralNigerian President’s Aids Plagiarised Obama’s 2008 Victory Speech. by uneeking(op): 7:16am On Sep 17, 2016
If Nigeria’s President beleives he has too many issues on his table to grapple with right now than he planned or expected, then he is in for a surprise as new challenges simply seem to be born for his administration on a daily basis virtually.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s speech to mark the recent launch of an ambitious “Change Begins with Me” campaign is facing plagiarism allegations after a newspaper report pointed out similarities with US President Barack Obama’s 2008 victory speech.

Buhari has reportedly ordered disciplinary action against those officials responsible for the act.

Buhari had launched the campaign on 8 September in Abuja in order to encourage Nigerians to reform their lives and give up “immoral” conduct, the Premium Times reported.

This plagiarism row comes after Melania Trump, the wife of US presidential hopeful Donald Trump, was accused of plagiarising Michelle Obama’s speech, during the Republican National Convention.

Nairaland GeneralNigeria – Inflation Rate “improves” To 17.6%. by uneeking(op): 6:40am On Sep 17, 2016
Nigeria’s economy is really in dire straits if the recent revelations and indices are anything to go by. It is not just the matter of the people complaining from every part of the country but also the disturbing indices even from official quarters.

The National Bureau of Statistics on Friday said that the Consumer Price Index which measures inflation increased year-on-year from 17.1 per cent in July to 17.6 per cent in the month of August.

The bureau in the CPI report for the month of August said the rise was caused by increases in the price of electricity, gas, fuel and housing.

The report stated that both the urban and rural prices continued to rise in the month of August.

For instance, it said the urban index increased to 19.3 per cent (year-on-year) in August from 18.9 per cent recorded in July, while the rural index increased to 16.1 per cent in August from 15.5 per cent in July.

Nairaland GeneralEarly Goal Gives Leicester City Advantage And Solid Win. by uneeking(op): 7:30am On Sep 15, 2016
15th September, 2016.

Leicester City shut the mouths of the doubters in a grand style as they put in a very solid performance in their debut match in the Champions’ League game played away from home against Club Brugge in Belgium yesterday.

Many people had predicted that Leicester F.C. were going to be “taken to the cleaners” when they play in this year’s Champions League Competition. However like some of us have always argued and suspected, this team is out to disappoint their critics.

The first of such “disappointments’ was served in grand style yesterday as they took their opponents “to the cleaners” instead.

Claudio Ranieri felt scoring early was crucial as Leicester City kicked off their debut season in the Champions League with a 3-0 win over Club Brugge.

The Premier League champions went into their first European game off the back of a 4-1 loss to Liverpool on Saturday, a result that dropped them to 16th place in the table.

Nairaland GeneralRonaldo’s Love For Sporting Lisbon F.C. by uneeking(op): 5:42am On Sep 15, 2016
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo spoke of his respect for Sporting CP and said it was why he was unable to celebrate his stunning free-kick.

Ronaldo dragged the LaLiga giants back into the game with his sublime 25-yard effort before Alvaro Morata scored a late winner in the 2-1 victory.

The 31-year-old was subdued in his celebration, highlighting the significance of Sporting in his career.

“It was against the team where I learned my trade,” Ronaldo said, via the club’s website.

“The club has a place in my heart and I have a lot of respect for them.

“That’s why I couldn’t celebrate it.”

Bruno Cesar had put the visitors ahead at Santiago Bernabeu early in the second half of the Champions League clash.

Nairaland GeneralBarcelona’s Lionel Messi Is The Best In The World At Any Position – Luis Enrique by uneeking(op): 8:04am On Sep 14, 2016
Luis Enrique believes Lionel Messi would be the best player in the world wherever he plays on the pitch after watching the Argentine score the 40th hat-trick of his career in Barcelona’s 7-0 win against Celtic.

It was Messi’s sixth treble in the history of the Champions League — more than any other player — and the first goal arrived in just the third minute. A dazzling exchange of passes with Neymar led to the second before Luis Suarez teed up the third in the second half.

And despite standout performances from several players — including Neymar, who created four goals and scored a free kick — it was Messi who Luis Enrique was once again left purring about.

“Messi’s the best in the world in every position,” the Barca coach said in his post-game news conference. “He plays with complete freedom to change his position as he wants.

“If he plays as a No.9, No.8 or No.6, he’s the best No.9, No.8 or No.6 in the world. He can judge the perfect pass from 40 yards; he can put the ball wherever he wants. For me, he’s the best player of all time.”

Nairaland GeneralAbia State Declares Oil Palm Revolution. by uneeking(op): 8:05am On Sep 13, 2016
13 September 2016

Abia State Commissioner for Agriculture, Chief Uzor Azubuike, has announced that the state government has acquired about eight thousand hectares of land to effect what he called oil palm revolution in the state.

He said that the project which he also tagged ‘ community oil palm project’, would also raise the people’s consciousness as well as motivate them into embarking on agriculture and oil palm growing and production practice as one of the means of surviving under the prevailing economic uncertainties.

The Commissioner spoke at Ahiaba Umueze in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area (LGA) during the flag off of the two million oil palm seedlings planting as part of the state oil palm revolution.

He explained that the project is designed to avail communities who are desirous to change the aging wild species of palm fruits that were prevalent in Africa, the opportunity to change and replant the improved variety seedlings.

He said the communities will directly be involved in the maintenance of the palm project as well as take ownership of the farms but not the plantation, adding that the revenue accruing from the venture will go to the community and by so doing, creating wealth in the community.

According to the Commissioner, government will however come in by developing the value chain through which it will make profit from taxation, and thus create employment opportunities for the people describing it as self generating.

Nairaland GeneralForeign Flights To Nigeria Forced To Refuel Elsewhere. by uneeking(op): 7:35am On Sep 13, 2016
Foreign airlines flying toNigeria have started to refuel abroad to bypass pricey, andincreasingly scarce, jet fuel as the oil producer battles a hardcurrency shortage that has made fuel available only at a veryhigh price.

It is the second blow for airlines operating in Africa’srecession-hit biggest economy in a year that first saw thecentral bank make it almost impossible to repatriate profitsfrom ticket sales as it tried to prevent a currency collapse. The crash in the naira since a devaluation in June has ledfirms who market jet fuel locally, such as Total, Sahara andConocoPhillips, to double the price to 220 naira a litre inAugust, and to as much as 400 naira this month, an airlineexecutive said.

Even at the higher costs, marketers’ lack of dollars hasmade fuel scarce. Some carriers have had aircraft stuck, or wereforced to cancel planned journeys, after frantic last-minutecalls from ground staff warned there was no fuel available.

“The economy is crying out for investment, and now it isgoing to be even harder for anyone to visit,” said JohnAshbourne, economist with Capital Economics. “Who is going towant to park a billion dollars in a country that you can’t eveneasily fly to? It sends the worst possible signal.”

Nairaland GeneralUS Election: Hillary Clinton Diagnosed With Pneumonia. by uneeking(op): 8:22am On Sep 12, 2016
US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has been treated for pneumonia, her doctor says, after she was taken ill at a 9/11 ceremony.

Dr Lisa Bardack said she was diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday and given antibiotics, but had become dehydrated at the New York event.

The doctor’s statement said she was now re-hydrated and “recovering nicely”.

But a campaign official said she has cancelled a campaign trip to California due to the illness.

She was due to leave for California on Monday morning for a two-day trip that included fundraisers and a speech on the economy.

“Secretary Clinton has been experiencing a cough related to allergies. On Friday, during follow-up evaluation of her prolonged cough, she was diagnosed with pneumonia,” Dr Bardack’s statement said.

“She was put on antibiotics, and advised to rest and modify her schedule,” it went on.

On Sunday, video showed her being supported by aides as they put her into her van after she left the 9/11 ceremony in New York early.

Her Republican opponents have queried her physical fitness, with the presidential candidate Donald Trump telling supporters last month she “lacks the mental and physical stamina” to serve as president and fight Islamic State militants.

Nairaland General2016 Manchester Derby – The F.C. Barcelona Factor. by uneeking(op): 6:05am On Sep 11, 2016
The first leg of the Manchester Derby has come and gone but surely its memories will linger on for quite sometime to come due to the high level of competitiveness and quality that it brought to the satisfied sprctators et al.

One major fact that surfaced from that soccer duel however is that it was not the usual kick and follow football that was exhibited. This was a free flowing, sweet to watch soccer game that one would usually only expect to see in games between teams like F.C. Barcelona and Arsenal F.C. for example. A game that entertains you from the beginning to the end. This was a real winner for the image of the British Premier League.

That brings up the issues of the F.C. Barcelona connection. It is not news that the managers of both teams namely Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho are former coaches of F.C. Barcelona and beleive in the free flowing style of football associated with their former team. They surely have been able to in a very short time changed the style of play in both Manchester teams.

It was refreshing to see a goalkeeper (Claudio Bravo – a new goal-keeper for Manchester City) play the role of a libero on so many occasions throughout the match. This a new stuff in the British Premier League as far as I know and it was surely a good innovation from what we saw yesterday. This was only common at F.C. Barcelona’s matches.

Nairaland GeneralManchester United Vs Manchester City Derby Review – Da “thrilla In Manchesta”! by uneeking(op): 5:47pm On Sep 10, 2016
10th September, 2016 Written By Kingsley Okpoh.

Sometime back in 1974 in Kinshasa in the then Congo Brazaville, we had a boxing match aptly tagged “Da Thrilla in Manilla”. It featured boxing legends – Late Mohammad Ali and Joe Frazier. I still have fond memories of that encounter till date. If you can lay your hands on its video, please go ahead and entertain yourself with it. It is simply breath-taking and immortal.

The closest to that encounter took place today the 10th September, 2016 in Manchester in the United Kingdom. This time around, it was not a boxing match but a football or soccer game between hosts Manchester United and Manchester City Football Clubs.

What an explosive display from both sides! As a matter of fact, the British Premier League was the real winner of this match. In a very long time, this league has not witnessed such a high-tempo, exciting and dramatic match like this one.

When the teams were busy breaking transfer records during the open transfer period, only a few of us beleived that it would bring about such a level of transformation to this undoubtably best packaged soccer league in the whole world. Kudos to all the actors involved in bringing about this high level of soccer entertainment.

As for the match proper, Manchester City not only won by two goals to one but were surely the better of the two sides even though they were playing away from home. They were more athletic, confident on the ball and very importantly, took their chances far more effectively than Manchester United F.C. The latter wasted far more chances than their opponents in this epic soccer encounter and that was quite decisive in the overall result.

Zlatan Ibrahimovich scored the only goal for Manchester United but was guilty of wasting a number of good scoring chances all through the game. De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho scored a goal apiece for Manchester City as proof of how menacing they both were in front of goal as they both provided assists for one another in the build-ups to both goals with De Bruyne unlucky to have hit the upright again later on in the game.

From what we saw in this match, one cannot but agree with Arsenal F.C. manager Arsene Wenger when he said the winner of this game surely becomes the favourite for the Premier League title. Favourite yes, but surely not yet the winner. A long way to go still for that.

Nairaland GeneralManchester United’s Possible Starting Eleven For Derby. by uneeking(op): 10:26am On Sep 10, 2016
Marcus Rashford and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are pushing for starts in Manchester United’s fixture vs Manchester City at Old Trafford.

The back five picks itself, even taking into account Antonio Valencia’s 28+ hour flight to Ecuador and back.

With Henrikh Mkhitaryan fit, United can afford to play 4-2-3-1 against a Pep Guardiola side. Mkhitaryan is slicker and more mobile than Wayne Rooney, a player whose failure to flitter between midfield and attack angered Sir Alex Ferguson during the 2011 Champions League final – even though he was United’s best performer.

The qualm with starting Marcus Rashford on the right is his 45-minute stint there at Anfield in the Europa League. Yes, it was one of the most abject displays of Louis van Gaal’s premiership, but the teenager is more unpredictable on the left – as he showed against Hull.

Despite that reservation, his pace should concern Gael Clichy and if Anthony Martial doesn’t cut it Rashford can move to the left, with Jesse Lingard an enticing option off the bench.

Mourinho may flitter from club to club but one of the secrets to his success is continuity on the field.

Aside from bringing Paul Pogba into the side, he’s named the same team for three games in the Premier League so I expect him to keep faith with the players that won him the August manager of the month award.

That means Chris Smalling will again miss out and Antonio Valencia will line up at right back – despite only being back in the county 24 hours.

I can’t see Mourinho changing to a 4-3-3 or benching Wayne Rooney, given his derby experience, so I’d expect the same midfield that triumphed against Southampton and Hull City with Fellaini the first name on the team sheet after recovering from a back injury.

There are still doubts about Jesse Lingard’s match fitness, but he loves a big game.

The other big decision Mourinho faces is whether to go with Martial or Rashford on the left, with both youngsters having enjoyed landmark international breaks.

Mourinho will probably play it relatively safe and stick with Martial, but I would throw the 18-year-old in from the start to run at the flagging Zabaleta.

The man is said to have run up to tiny Elsie Rose in a Tesco store in Manchester before hitting her in the face as her mother Amy Duckers watched on in horror.

He then recoiled and apologised, allegedly stating: “Sorry I thought it was a doll”.

The baby girl, who weighed just 6lbs 12oz, was rushed to hospital but has since been discharged after doctors found she suffered no serious injuries.

Nairaland General12,179 Northern Schools Get $100m Bailout. by uneeking(op): 5:15am On Sep 07, 2016
An international organisation, Global Partnership for Education, has supported 12, 179 schools in the North with a $100m (N420m) grant, the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has said.

The beneficiaries of the grant are Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa and Sokoto states.

The gesture, according to Adamu, is part of efforts to enhance quality and standard education in the North.

Adamu stated this on Tuesday in Abuja, during the maiden meeting of the national steering committee of the Nigerian Partnership for Education Project.

The minister said NIPEP was targeted at promoting school effectiveness, ensuring improved learning outcomes, increasing access to basic education for children who were currently out of school particularly girls and strengthening the ability of the managers to plan and manage the system well.

Nairaland GeneralGenevieve Sad On Her Wedding Day? by uneeking(op): 7:37pm On Sep 05, 2016
There are reports making the rounds that a Nollywood star was left in the lurch overseas recently after her husband-to-be failed to show up on their wedding day.

We don’t know how true this is, neither do we know the actress in question, but from the descriptions from gossip blogger Stella Dimokokorkus, it could be Genevieve Nnaji.

Again, this is unconfirmed and there are no facts whatsoever to substantiate Stella’s claims but then the descriptions fit like hand in glove.

According to the report, the movie star wanted a hush-hush wedding in Milan, a ceremony devoid of all the glitz and glamour befitting of a star in her mould. But this unusualness got the family of the guy in question disturbed to the point where the groom’s father reportedly planned not to attend had the wedding held.

The gossip source said she practically called the shots and her demands were so much as she asked that the wedding ceremony be held secretly.

Stella Dimokokorkus wrote of the situation: “[The actress’] demands were about the wedding cos she wanted to code it. She didnt want his parents to tell or invite other people. So his mum had to stomach the whole thing. Even his dad refused to attend (that is if it had held) because he doesn’t understand why the wedding of his son should be coded…So essentially she was calling the shots and no one was supposedly happy about it…

“Whilst no one liked the Secrecy involved, tickets were bought, his mum still travelled to the location of where it was supposed to hold but wedding didn’t hold. Lover boy is currently in Amsterdam cooling his head while she is attending the TIFF in Canada (for her movie?). Well both were whispered to be in these locations as at two days ago and it is possible they might have travelled somewhere else.

SportsThe Africa Cup Of Nations Winners And Losers. by uneeking(op): 3:24pm On Sep 05, 2016
In Summary

Guinea-Bissau winning a group in which they were expected to finish last was the biggest shock of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying competition.
Senegal are the only qualifiers to finish with a 100 percent record, after home and away victories over Burundi, Namibia and Niger.

Guinea-Bissau winning a group in which they were expected to finish last was the biggest shock of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying competition that ended at the weekend.

The tiny Portuguese-speaking west African country reached the finals for the first time at the expense of former champions Zambia and Congo Brazzaville and Kenya.

They will be at the 16-team tournament in Gabon during January and February while notable absentees include previous title-holders Nigeria and South Africa.

AFP Sport picks five winners and five losers after an elimination process that spanned 16 months and produced 363 goals at an average of 2.5 per match.

WINNERS

Guinea-Bissau

Have no stars and coach Baciro Cande is virtually unknown, but home and away wins over Kenya and a 3-2 triumph over Zambia in Bissau thanks to a stoppage-time Toni Silva goal secured top spot with a fixture to spare.

Uganda
After a string of near misses in qualifying competitions, Uganda are going to the finals for the first time since 1978 with a narrow home win over the Comoros securing one of two places reserved for the best runners-up.

Senegal
The only qualifiers to finish with a 100 percent record, after home and away victories over Burundi, Namibia and Niger, is testimony to the organisation and consistency coach and former star Aliou Cisse has developed.

Egypt
A stoppage-time equaliser from Mohamed Salah in Nigeria against the run of play proved crucial as record seven-time champions Egypt won the return match in the ‘group of death’ to halt a run of three failed qualifying campaigns.

Zimbabwe
A chaotic start induced by a shortage of funds forced the squad to make a 24-hour bus journey to Malawi, but they won 2-1 to set in motion a five-match unbeaten run that secured top spot while favourites Guinea flopped.

LOSERS
Nigeria
The withdrawal of cash-strapped Chad turned the matches against Egypt into group deciders and after being held at home in a match they dominated, the Super Eagles fell to a Ramadan Sobhy goal in Alexandria and were eliminated.

South Africa
Instead of contesting first place with eventual group winners Cameroon, Bafana Bafana (The Boys) never recovered from a disastrous start in which they were held by Gambia and lost to Mauritania and finished a humiliating third.

Nairaland GeneralReal Madrid Superstars Unhappy With Gareth Bale, According To Reports. by uneeking(op): 7:58am On Sep 05, 2016
If reports in Barcelona based agency Sport are to be believed, there may be trouble brewing in the Real Madrid dressing room, where the rest of the players are reportedly not very pleased with the airs around their star midfielder Gareth Bale.

The 27-year-old Welshman has not yet seen the end of his troubles adjusting in Madrid ever since he arrived there in 2013 from Tottenham in what was the world’s most expensive transfer at the time.

According to the report, the widespread acknowledgement of his stellar performance in the Euros and his nomination UEFA’s Best Player in Europe award has made the Welsh player think a little too highly of himself. This pride has been on display for quite some time now and not many players are taking it well. The report doesn’t mince words in stating that, ‘The heavyweights of Madrid’s dressing room don’t think Bale’s airs of grandeur are appropriate.’

The report states that the ‘heavyweights’ are not happy to know that Bale has allegedly been in touch with President Perez over an enhanced contract, which they feel is not entirely commensurate with his recent performances for the club. The very idea of an increase to €17 million per annum is a proposition which is, in their opinion, unfair.

The veracity of these reports shall pass through many tests — at the forefront of which is the fact that Sport is a Barcelona-based news agency and Bale was instrumental in the tense season that the two clubs had recently. Bale has another three years left on his contract at the Bernabeu and his contribution to Los Blancos’ two Champions League titles in addition to a Copa del Rey is well known. Thus, even if there is some fire causing this smoke, manager Zinedine Zidane will be eager to settle it for good.

Nairaland GeneralMinister Bans Grazing In FCT, Asks Heads Of Schools With Poor Results To Resign. by uneeking(op): 8:16am On Sep 04, 2016
September 4, 2016

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Musa Bello, has directed the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) and the FCT Task Team on Environment to get rid of herdsmen involved in grazing.

Describing the situation as “buzzard”, the minister equally directed the two agencies to stop hawkers selling on pedestrian bridges.
The directives came as the minister ordered any principal of government schools in Abuja who fails to achieve 50 percent success in the 2017 WASSCE and NECO exams should honourably resign or risk being sacked.

Speaking at a meeting with school principals in the territory, Bello said that the 30 percent success recorded in the 2016 WAEC and NECO in FCT schools was no longer acceptable.

Malam Bello who was represented at the meeting by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye insisted that that students must achieve at least 50 percent or the principal will be penalized.
