The main opposition All Progressives Congress, APC in Bayelsa State has constituted its governorship campaign council ahead of the November Governorship Election in the state.

The council has a mandate to rally massive support for the APC Governorship Candidate, Chief David Lyon and ensure his eventual victory.

Information Parrot Nigeria gathered that the campaign council is scheduled to be inaugurated on 15th October 2019 at the State Party Secretariat in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

The council is chaired by former governor now Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva.

A yet to be identified young lady has lost her sanity.

Information Parrot Nigeria gathered that the incident occurred Monday morning in the Rumuokwuta axis of Portharcourt, the Rivers State capital.

According to an eyewitness, the woman was said to have come from a night club in Port Harcourt the night breaking into Monday.

Before this incident, Information Parrot Nigeria recalls that young ladies have been subjected to serial killing at hotels within the state. However, after serious public outcry, one Mr.Gracious David West was arrested and confessed to the crime. He is still under police investigation.

What led to her madness remains sketchy as at press time.

The bid of Chief David Lyon, the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Bayelsa State to emerge as the next governor of the state received a massive boost on Saturday as Bayelsans from Epie/Atissa hit the streets of Yenagoa, the state capital to rally support for him.

Information Parrot Nigeria gathered that the rally with its theme "Epie/Atissa Unity Rally for David Lyon" commenced from Igbogene community down to Yenagoa jetty were a casket with inscription of PDP was thrown into the River as a symbol of rejection by the twin kingdoms.

The massive crowd of supporters were led by Hon. Diekivie Ikiogha, Hon. Markmanuel Parkinson, and Hon. Godknows Powell.

Others on the train included Hon.Patterson Jerry, Hon. Preye Agama, Hon.Wilcox Omons and the Youth leader of Yenagoa APC ward 4 constituency,  Commander Omaro Ekwems among others.

There was musical display and other performances by talented artists from Bayelsa State.

Chief David Lyon, a renowned philanthropist and friend of the poor has been receiving massive support across Bayelsa State after his emergence. It is unclear if he can garner the needed support to unseat Gov.Seriake Dickson's anointed candidate, Senator Douye Diri of the PDP in the November Governorship Election in the state.

Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State has congratulated Miss Nyekachi Douglas for winning the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria Contest (MBGN) 2019.

He described the feat as a reflection of the beautiful endowment of the people of Rivers State.

A statement signed by Paulinus Nsirim,
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications quoted the governor as saying:
“Miss Nyekachi Douglas is a true Rivers daughter who has gone to show the world that Rivers youths are not only beautiful but also talented.

“The State Government will honour this great Ambassador for bringing the prestigious MBGN crown to Rivers State. It is our hope that the reigning MBGN Queen will follow the footsteps of Agbani Darego who was crowned Miss World in 2001, he stated.

The Governor urged all Rivers youths to shun criminality and showcase the resilience and resourcefulness of the Rivers man in all their endeavours.
It will be recalled that Miss Nyekachi beat 36 other contestants to become the most beautiful girl in Nigeria at the just concluded MBGN contest held at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Bayelsa State.

Nigerian women are joining their colleagues all over the world today to celebrate this year's  National No Bra Day.

No Bra Day is an annual observance on October 13 on which women are encouraged to forgo wearing a bra as a means to encourage breast cancer awareness.

No Bra Day was initially observed on July 9, 2011, but within three years it had moved to October 13, the month of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Users on social media are encouraged to post using the hashtag #nobraday to promote awareness of breast cancer symptoms and to encourage gender equality.

A former deputy governor of Bayelsa State, Rt.Hon.Peremobowei Ebebi has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State.

His resignation was contained in a letter he personally signed dated 11th October 2019.

The former two term speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly blamed his resignation on lack of internal democracy in the PDP.

Information Parrot Nigeria recalls that many chieftains of the PDP have been aggrieved and angry with the state governor, Seriake Dickson over his high-handedness and imposition of Senator Douye Diri on the party as its Governorship Candidate.

Ebebi is yet to disclose his next political move ahead of the November Governorship poll in Bayelsa State.

An Aide to Gov.Serieke Dickson of Bayelsa State, Hon.Stephen Diver has resigned his appointment.

Information Parrot Nigeria gathered that before his resignation this Wednesday, Hon.Diver had served previously as Special Adviser to Gov.Dickson on inter-party affairs and recently on political matters.

In a resignation letter he personally signed, Hon.Diver blamed his decision on the circumstances leading to the emergence of the PDP Governorship Flagbearer and his deputy.

This resignation is coming ahead of the Governorship Election scheduled to hold in the state by November.

It is unclear if he has any intention to dump the PDP for another party in the state.

Information Parrot Nigeria recalls that the PDP in Bayelsa State is embroiled in underlining crises following the emergence of Senator Duoye Diri, as the Guber Candidate of the party. Some aggrieved members of the PDP are already in court seeking redress to what they termed injustice, manipulations and imposition of Diri on the party.

As the Bayelsa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) began its campaign for the November 16 governorship election in the state on Monday, Information Parrot Nigeria reports that a former president of Nigeria Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, governors elected on the platform of the party and its National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus were conspicuously absent.

At the event which held at the Ox-Bow Lake Pavilion, Yenagoa,the state capital, Mr.Secondus was however represented by the party’s Vice-Chairman, South, Emmanuel Ogidi amidst thousands of party faithful across the eight local government area of the state.

The highlight of the inaugural campaign was the defection of a former APC stalwart from Sagbama Local Government Area, Miebi Bribina.

Both Gov.Seriake Dickson and PDP Candidate, Senator Douye Diri boasted that PDP will emerge victorious at the election.

The electoral victories of two governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have been affirmed by the governorship election petitions tribunal. They are Governors Samuel Ortom  and Bala Muhammed of Benue and Bauchi States respectively.

In Benue State, the governorship candidate of the APC, Emmanuel Jime had challenged the declaration of Mr.Ortom by INEC as winner of the election. But the tribunal dismissed his petition for lacking in merit.

Similarly, the petition by former governor of Bauchi State and candidate of the APC in the State, Mohammed Abubakar was also dismissed.

Rivers State Governor, Barr.Nyesom Wike has expressed joy at the verdict of the Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal which on Saturday affirmed his victory as the duly elected governor of Rivers State.

The governor said he never expected anything different as he and other PDP candidates in the state had no opposition in the contest during the elections.

A statement by his Aide on Electronic Media, Mr.Simeon Nwakaudu quotes Gov.Wike speaking at a thanksgiving service in Government House Chapel of Everlasting Grace as saying:

"It is so painful that someone could say that no election held in Rivers State. There was nobody who ran the election against us.

"But for connection, how can anyone say he ran election against us in Rivers State '.

Speaking further the governor added that:

"I will never be distracted. I will do everything in the interest of Rivers State. I will continue to work. Nothing will distract me", he said.

The governor was joined by other PDP leaders including National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.

The Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Portharcourt, the Rivers State capital has dismissed the petition by the governorship candidate of the African Action Alliance, AAC, Biokpomabo Awara.

The tribunal accordingly upheld the victory of Governor Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Information Parrot Nigeria recalls that Engr.Awara, an unpopular candidate came to the limelight after the Rivers State Chapter of the APC loyal to Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi endorsed him.

Awara, who had claimed victory in the election, became aggrieved when INEC suspended the election and subsequently declared Mr.Wike as winner. This prompted his decision to challenge the victory of Gov.Wike at the tribunal.

It is unclear if he will appeal the judgment.

Meanwhile, the tribunal had earlier dismissed the petition of Mr.Victor Fingesi of ADP against the victory of Gov.Wike.

Bayelsa State Governor Henry Seriake Dickson has reconciled paralleled speakers of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Tonye Emmanuel Isenah, and Hon. Obolo Bobou.

Information Parrot Nigeria recalls that there was deep crisis in the state assembly last week as a parallel sitting by members loyal to the State Governor nominated and voted Hon.Bobou as the new speaker of the assembly.

This move was however rejected by Hon.Isenah, whose alleged thugs had invaded the assembly and left with the mace, the symbol of authority.

Gov.Dickson was accused of been behind the plot to install Hon.Bobou in his bid to appease the people of Southern Ijaw ahead of the Governorship Election in the state.

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has said his bid to be reelected can not be stopped by anyone plotting for his downfall.

Speaking on Thursday when he received members of the Benin Unity League at government house, Benin, Obaseki categorically said for him, his second term is non-negotiable”.

“I have said it clearly and I told my cabinet yesterday that second term for me is non-negotiable. I am demanding it because I deserve it and I think I have earned it. We need to have it so we can continue what we are doing today,” he said.

He added that no individual can determine who will become governor, adding that only God and the people can make the decision.

“I want to assure you that, this is a fight that we will prevail. We will fight and succeed. If anybody thinks I will back out, he must be day-dreaming because it is not my fight, it is about fight for the right thing and cause,” he said.

“I am not going to back off because I know victory is sure.”

After an earlier apology to vice president, Prof.Yemi Osinbajo over a publication containing libelous allegations that he (Osinbajo) superitended over the spending of N90bn received from the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS to finance the electoral victory of the ruling APC in the South-West during the 2019 elections, the Editorial Team of Vanguard Newspaper on Tuesday, Oct.1 2019 has also tendered a similar apology to Mr.Babatunde Fowler, who is the Executive Director of the FIRS.

In the apology and retraction posted on its official news website, Vanguard through its editor said:

"On our website publication of  Monday, September 23, 2019 we published a story titled “N 90bn FIRS Election Fund: Osinbajo’s problem, not 2023 politics.” We have since discovered that the story lacks factual substance and we hereby retract it in its entirety

We tender our profound apology to Mr Babatunde Fowler, Executive Chairman of the Federal Inalnd Revenue Service, FIRS, on whom the story touches directly and the FIRS, for any inconvenience or embarrassment the publication has occasioned them. We hold Mr Fowler and the FIRS in the highest esteem".

Meanwhile, Mr.Frank has remained unrepentant over his allegations amidst legal threats by Prof.Osinbajo as the PDP and some other groups and Nigerians loyal to it had relied on Frank's allegation to demand for the resignation of Prof.Osinbajo.

The arrested Portharcourt Serial Killer, Mr. Gracious David West on Thursday, was visited by lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly at the Rivers State Police Headquarters where he is currently been detained. 

Information Parrot Nigeria gathered that the lawmakers were members of a adhoc committee on the Portharcourt Serial Killing by the State Assembly.

The lawmakers had fruitful investigative discussion with the accused killer and its expected to send its report to the entire house.

Information Parrot Nigeria recalls that Mr.Gracious recently arrested by the Rivers State Police Command had confessed to killing about 7 ladies in Port-harcourt, Lagos and Owerri.

He is currently under investigation and expected to be prosecuted soon.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has revealed that Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof.Yemi Osinbajo commissioned prayer groups to pray for Buhari’s death in his desperate bid to take over the presidency.
Mr.Kayode, who is a former Minister of Aviation exposed this while reacting to the rumoured move by some persons in the presidency to replace Prof. Osinbajo.

He added that the Senior Pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly in Lagos State, Tunde Bakare was been projected to replace Prof.Osinbajo.

According to Mr.Fani-Kayode: “Rumours abound and if the truth be told, Tunde Bakare would be a much better VP than Prof. Osinbajo”.
“I may not agree with him on everything but at least he is loyal, he is courageous, he is strong and he would never betray his people and faith. That is more than I can say for Osubande.”

Information Parrot Nigeria recalls that Pastor Bakare in a recent viral video had boasted that he was going to succeed Buhari in 2023; an outburst that has been condemned by many Nigerians and some clerics.

Fani-Kayode also accused Osinbajo of backstabbing Buhari. He insisted that Osinbajo has been used and will be dumped for not been loyal to his boss, Mr.Buhari.
“When you spend 4 years and 4 months commissioning prayer groups and prayer warriors to pray for your boss to die so you can take over from him, you cannot expect to end well,” he said.
“LOYALTY IS EVERYTHING! They used you like toilet paper and now they are going to flush u down the toilet,” he tweeted.

Osinbajo is believed in some quarters to be warming up to replace Mr.Buhari in 2023 as power is expected to shift to southern Nigeria.

A group of angry women have taken to the streets of Portharcourt to protest against the continuous killing of young ladies in several hotels in the Rivers State capital.

The protest which is currently ongoing is organised by Women in Rotary - Portharcourt South in partnership with Rotary Clubs in Portharcourt and other organisations.

Places visited by the protesting women dressed in black clothes include the Rivers State Government House, The Rivers State House of Assembly, The State Office of the Department of State Services, DSS and the State Headquarters of the Nigeria Police among others.

The women are demanding a stop to the senseless killings and the arrest and prosecution of the serial killer(s).

Nigeria's Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has revealed that Igbos will produce the successor of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Ngige stated this while speaking in Obosi, Anambra State. He also called on Igbos to stop riding on the sentiments of political marginalization and work hard by joining the APC and supporting President Buhari so that the dream of an Igbo Presidency can be achieved in 2023.

According to Ngige: "The Igbo should stop shouting marginalisation. They should stand up and assert themselves to be counted. Nigeria belongs to all of us.

“Equity favours the Igbo to produce the next president of the country, but they must work hard and position themselves for it.

"We should stop political sentiments. Politicians don’t give power based on sentiment and emotion. President Muhammadu Buhari has said he is favourable to an Igbo president.

“We must support him and associate with the APC. Nobody will give you president of Nigeria in your bedroom.”

He also dismissed insinuations that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) will attack him abroad. Ngige insisted that he won't be targeted for such an attack because he protected them (IPOB) and their interests when he was Anambra State Governor.

"IPOB was registered by the late President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife and other Igbo as a non-violent group.

“What is going on now in the group is not part of the work plan . I visited the United States of America recently, and I was welcomed by IPOB members.

"They knew I fed and protected them when I was in office as governor. I have said it several times that Biafra cannot be achieved the IPOB way.

The faction of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State loyal to Senator Magnus Abe has vowed  not to participate in the party’s congresses expected to begin on September 17.

This was disclosed by a former Attorney General of the state, Worgu Boms who spoke on behalf of the faction. Mr. Boms said it was wrong for the National Working Committee of the party  to fix dates for congresses  without resolving the crisis in the party in the state.

A communique read by Mr.Boms reads below in part:

“The party is again treading the route of exclusion and disdain for the rights and feelings of members. This plunged Rivers APC into a needless crisis, resulting in the party being denied participation in the general elections.

“As critical stakeholders, bearing in mind the circumstance of the party in the state, we were not consulted by   the  NWC in appointing a caretaker committee in Rivers nor does the committee reflect the diversity of the party in the state.

 “The so-called caretakers are simply cronies of the Minister of Transportation (Rotimi Amaechi). Their objective and purpose is clear; they were  parties and participants in the actions that brought the party on its knees in Rivers.

“We urge all members of  the APC in Rivers to remain steadfast in pursuit of justice. Based on extant judicial procurement and the Governor  Solomon Lalong’s Committee report adopted by the NWC, where congresses could not hold, existing executives manage the affairs of the party. Chief Odike, by the rules, should have been consulted as Chairman, Rivers APC.”

Meanwhile, a report reaching Information Parrot Nigeria indicates that the Chairman of the Senator Abe faction of Rivers State APC, Chief Peter Odike has dumped that faction and vowed to work with the mainstream of the party in the state led by the minister of Transportation, Mr.Rotimi Amaechi.

Chief Odike who was a deputy chairman during the tenure of the former excecutive led by Chief Davies Ibiamu became a tool used by the Abe Faction to achieve its pursuit which eventually led the party into having no candidates for the 2019 polls.

However, Chief Odike confirming his new decision said:

"We have suffered as a Party. It's time for us to rebuild the party. There is no Victor, no Vanquished." "we can't continue like this."

He maintained that the only way for the party to overcome it's challenges is to embrace peace and work with the Caretaker Committee.

As members of the proscribed sect, The Islamic Movement of Nigeria dares the federal government and the Police to continue with its planned nationwide procession today, Information Parrot Nigeria reports that three brothers have been shot dead by security agents in Kaduna State.

There are also reports of similar killing of Shiites in Gombe, Katsina, Sokoto and Bauchi States.

These deadly attacks on IMN members were announced by the group through its official twitter handle.

Some lawmakers from Rivers State on Monday took to the street to protest against the collapsing state of the Akpajo Bridge in the Eleme axis of the state.
The lawmakers comprised of those at the state and national levels from the Rivers South-East Senatorial District.

Leader of the protesting lawmakers, Senator Barry Mpigi while addressing newsmen called on the federal government to urgently fix entire road and repair the bridge. 

"The lives of our people and other Nigerians are at risk here. We’ve written to the authorities and also raised motions on the floor of NASS concerning this. We decided to show Nigerians what our people faces everyday and demand that the federal government listens to us and avert unforeseen tragedy that might occur here", Mpigi lamented.

A lawmaker at the national level, Douye Diri has emerged as the governorship candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the November governorship election in the state. He defeated twenty (20) other candidates.

Diri, who is the current Senator representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District at the Senate scored 561 votes to defeat his closest rival and   former Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Ndutimi Alaibe, who polled 365 votes.

The votes were announced by the Returning Officer and Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishiaku, who said Diri satisfied all conditions contained in the constitution of the PDP having scored the highest number of the vote cast.

Information Parrot Nigeria gathered that Senator Diri emerged from the Restoration Caucus of the PDP led by Governor, Seriake Dickson, who presented him as the preferred aspirant of the caucus a day before the  election.

Diri is expected to face the candidate of the APC after its governorship primaries scheduled to commence on Wednesday.

The All Progressives Congress, APC in Tuomo Ward 3 of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, says it would not allow former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the ruling party.

This was made known in a statement by its chairman, secretary and leader, Warebi Edonyanbo, Ofumu Welkper and Peres Oloye respectively.

This rejection follows speculations that the former minister who is from Tuomo Ward 3, is plotting to defect to the party.

The statement reads in part: “On behalf of members and executive of the APC in Tuomo ward 3, we would like to draw the attention of the leadership of the APC in the state and national level to a backdoor move by some clandestine individuals to register former Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe as a member of the party.

“In as much as the doors of the APC are open to everyone who wishes to be members of the party, we take exception to the likes of Orubebe whose outing during the collation of result for the 2015 presidential election almost disrupted the democratic process.

“His performance as a super minister during the tenure of Presidents Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, dictating the affairs of governance while in office for 7years after betraying members of the defunct All Peoples Party, APP, for a Special Assistant position under former Governor James Ibori calls for questioning on his personality.

“It is indeed funny that having described the APC as an anti-Ijaw party and that he will resign from politics if President Muhammadu Buhari was re-elected as president in 2019, we wonder why he is still dabbling in political matters five years after his outburst.
“We the people of Tuomo Ward 3 do not want him in the party, and are using this medium to warn those that are plotting to smuggle him into the party through the back door to desist from such actions because we will not condone such moves.”

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the State Security Council will deploy more security personnel to troubled Ogoni communities with a view to restoring peace.

The governor stated this on Saturday when he led the State Security Service Commanders to Kono-Boue and Kereken-Boue Towns in Khana Local Government Area.

Governor Wike said that the security agencies have been mobilised to go after the criminal cultists operating in parts of Ogoniland.

A statement released by Mr. Simeon Nwakaudu, who is the Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor, Electronic Media quoted Mr.Wike as saying:

"We will do everything possible to make sure that those involved in these criminal cult activities don't go free.

"You have to cooperate with us to get the killers. Those who have perpetrated these crimes are known to community members. No armed robber operates in a place without local support . Therefore, support us with credible information.

"I feel so sad that these cultists have killed our people and displaced some communities in the area. We have taken measures to restore peace ".

He said that the State Security Council has adopted new strategies to build the security framework in communities troubled by cultists.

"Tell your people to come back. I have come here with the security service Commanders to reassure you that we are doing everything possible to restore peace.

"Over the last few days we have deployed security personnel to the troubled areas . Beginning today, we are going to deploy more security personnel to different Ogoni communities to protect our people," he said.

Governor Wike charged parents to monitor their children . He said communities must take measures to discourage youths from becoming cultists.

The Governor said that the State Government will support displaced communities and families of victims of the cult-related attacks in Ogoniland.

He assured the leaders of the area that the Rivers State Government will complete the road abandoned by the Niger Delta Development Commission.

Governor Wike announced that the State Government would build a major Police station in the troubled area to secure the people.

Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Mr Lahteh Loolo explained that cultists displaced some communities in the area. He commended the Rivers State Governor for his sustained response which reduced the level of casualties suffered by the communities. He said that with the new strategies introduced by the Rivers State Governor, the security challenge facing the area would be resolved.

The Traditional Ruler of Kono Boue, Chief Ezekiel Manson expressed happiness with the intervention of the Rivers State Governor. He said when the cultists attacked the community, the divisional Police Officer and his personnel responded positively.

He said there are no cultists among those who were killed and displaced in the community.

The People’s Democratic Party in Imo State has urged former governor, Rochas Okorocha, to willingly return all funds he stole from the state in his eight years as governor.

The spokesperson for the party in the state, Damian Okpara gave this advice in a statement on Thursday.

Okpara described Okorocha as been ‘anxious and nervous,’ over the committees set up by his successor, Emeka Ihedioha, to probe the land contracts and deals done under his administration.

The statement said, “The former governor’s body language is clearly suggestive of a man who is anxious and nervous, following the inauguration of a judicial commission of inquiry by Governor Emeka Ihedioha, to probe the award of contracts and land deals in the state during his administration and those of governors Achike Udenwa and Ikedi Ohakim.

“The truth is that he is conscious of the shady contract deals, massive looting of the state’s patrimony and other grievous and unwholesome practices which characterised his administration.

“Okorocha must be made to understand that the best he can do for Imo people at this time, is to willingly return all that he had stolen from the state and not to engage in fruitless outburst against the government of the day.”

Okorocha alleged that Gov.Ihedioha has set up as many as14 committees to cancel policies by his administration.

After weeks of rumoured sack, Information Parrot Nigeria has confirmed the sack of presidential aide on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang.

Information Parrot Nigeria gathered Senator Enang lost favor with the presidency not to warrant his reappointment because he was perceived to have been unable to manage the relationship between the president and Bukola Saraki-led Senate.

The relationship between President Buhari and the eighth Senate was characterised by deep hostility.
“He (Enang) didn’t have the temperament to deliver anything substantial,” a source within the presidency had said of Mr Enang’s performance as Mr Buhari’s aide.
“Despite the experience he has and the senators being his former colleagues, he could not resolve the frequent crisis the senators were having with the president.”

Embattled Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Elder Simon Achuba has filed an application before the State High Court, Lokoja. This is aimed at preventing the State House of Assembly from proceeding with their impeachment threat against him.

Information Parrot Nigeria recalls that the state lawmakers believed to be loyal to the state governor, Yahaya Bello had few weeks ago instituted impeachment proceedings against Elder Achuba who they accused of gross misconduct.

The assembly which claimed that its act was based on a petition it received against the deputy governor revealed that the petition raised accusations on criminal indulgence, financial misappropriation and non-performance against Elder Achuba.

However, Elder Achuba who has long ago lost peace with his boss said He is challenging the impeachment notice served on him because it was served out of time and marred with irregularities.

No date has been fixed for the case yet.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has revealed that the scheme will pay the new N30,000 minimum wage to corps members only if it gets the directive and approval to do so from the federal government.
Speaking to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja, NYSC Director-General, Shuaibu Ibrahim said:
”On the minimum wage, I cannot make any pronouncement because it is ongoing. The moment it is transmitted to NYSC, we will make it known to the corps members and the general public.”

Ahead of this year's governorship election in Bayelsa State, a founding member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Waribugo Worikuma alongside about 2500 of his supporters have dumped the party for the main opposition, All Progressives Congress, APC.

The defecting members are reportedly from Nembe Constituency 3. They blamed their defection on the inability of the ruling party to include youths of the state in its programmes and policies.

Presenting the aggrieved members to the state Chairman of the party, Hon. Jothan Amos, on Wednesday at the APC secretariat in Yenagoa, Waribugo said:

“This is one of the happiest day of my life, as one of the founding member of the PDP and a staunched believer of dividends of democracy since 1999. I have led this group of persons to a new way of life, where light and progress is the main focus. We were mistakenly hooked up somewhere for a very long time but our eyes are opened. We are in APC today because of their believe in the youths, but in PDP the only believe is rotating the older people in position of power and that is why the state has remained backward.

“Our future was almost lost but thank God we have follow the glory to this great and progressive party. We are influential and that is the reason we always trouble this party during elections but now we will use it to the advantage of the APC.

“We are not here to deceive anybody, our body and soul is here now, and we want to assure the progressive family that the take over mission has started.”

In his response, the state APC Chairman, Hon. Jothan Amos commended them for their courage in joining the progressive party rather than the party where everyone is self-centred.

He disclosed that a later date will be announced for the public ceremony for more defectors, adding that other major stakeholders in the PDP will soon decamp to the party.
