A girl can't lie to me about her age. If I look at her face, I would be able to access her age.
@Crazykid, you are very funny! Looks deceive you, it cannot reveal the age you are able to.

I had been through myself that everyone do not believe my real age is no matter how many times I tell them truth---show my driver license or birth certificate, because i look 20 years younger.

Check out my Nairaland picture profile, tell me how old I am!

@poster,

What is the reason why your girlfriend lied you about her age? Why should you stay relationship with her as liar?

BusinessRe: Help With Sending Money From Nig. To The Us by uspry1(f): 7:34pm On Sep 06, 2007
If you are business in Nigeria trying to send money to the US person's bank account, I suggest you go to any modernized state-of-the-art Nigeria bank asking for opening your domicilary account in foreign currency that allows you using external, outbounding or SWIFT bank-to-bank wire transfer between Nigeria bank and US bank.

You only pay a minimal service fee for bank-to-bank wire transfer being transmitted to the US with foreign currency exchange. Lot of cheaper than Western Union/MoneyGram transfer fees.

Keep in your mind that when you make a transfer over 3500 (USD/EUR/NGN) internationally or nationally, it will get automatically registered sending to the central banking commission and Federal Bureau Investigation being investigated. So you will need to have a plausible source of those funds and Nigeria bank must have a proof of fund orgin.

Bank-to-Bank wire transfer is MORE RELIABLE than Western Union/Moneygram, because it is a centralized banking system all over the world traceable to catch bad person(s) on the ground of money laundering, fraud, and embezzlement, unlikely Western Union/Moneygram does.

I assumed that you already know that Nigerians cannot use PayPal account sending/receiving money.

TravelRe: Apartments In L.a! by uspry1(f): 3:04pm On Sep 03, 2007
***The price is subject to change every year to increase matching the cost of living expense by US government and bank dated September 3, 2007 (cost of meal, transportation, utilities expense are not included here)****

Most US apartment leases are only 12-months, (few has for 6-months) agreement contract for tenants who are LEGALLY US citizen or valid H1(employment) VISA with valid social security number, excellent credit background and stable paycheck at least 2 or more years from the date of job hiring (service date) requirements. The US apartment lease application are NON-REFUNDABLE fee, ranging from $30.00 to $75.00 USD varies to city, suburban or rural settling differently. Refundable Security Deposit are required when lease application is approved---it is double amount of the first month rent due.

Of course, foreigners with student VISA for 2-years or 4-years college/universities are welcome with proof of stable income (photocopy of 2 months US paystubs) that will be qualified obtaining apartment lease.

The average rent amounts of 12-months apartment lease in the US are varied depend on the location of the city or suburban or small rural settling DIFFERENTLY on 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom ranging from $500 to $2,000 per month. You cannot be break the contract in the middle of 6-months or 12-months lease, it will be lead you to evict and charge for legal fee against you. If you miss paying rent due on second month, you are IMMEDIATELY evicted with 15 days or 30 days letter notification of eviction by the apartment management/landlord via US court appeal and US immigrant enforcement agency if you are immigrant, plus add late payment fee and legal fee charged. You lose your refundable security deposit if damaged inside apartment/housing.

The US immigrant laws for apartment/housing rentals has been changed last July 31st this year NOT ALLOWING illegal immigrants to obtain any apartment/house rental without immigrant document proof.

You have only one month vacation, like @Siena has said. You also will need your photocopy/printed out the confirmed hotel/motel reservation or US host's letter of invitation with room/board furnished and photocopy of their (host's) passport prior to your VISA interview appointment due for obtaining US visa to enter to the state.  Check your US Embassy for either Lagos or Abuja website for more information about US visa and supporting documents required.

Heavenly Father,

I want to thank you for giving me great blessing that I got new 2-bedroom house, which my grandma passed away, i move in a month ago prior to my 12-month apartment lease expired. Just right time!!!! I cannot believe it!!!

Thank you on your mysterious ways i received two financial blessing (two largest amount of American cheques on anonymous senders) that I did not ask for in the quality of my cost of lving expenses which I was skeptical of for last 2 years survival hardship. I made thru ALL RIGHT!!!

Thank you be with me all the time despite of my deaf lonely single mother of two children. Based on my favorite scripture, Proverb 3:5-6.

Give me your deliverance of strength, courageous, affectionately, attention and hope I need the most.

Touch someone special you, Father, know who I talk about in the spirit of blessing, healing, and overcome.

Rebuke evil spirits at the U.S. General Lagos Consulate office in the spirit of repeal their sins against you, Father.

Pray for my children in the spiritual of wisdom, health, well-manner, respect, and stay out of trouble.

Finally, Heavenly Father, please touch the most powerful prayer warrior to my favorite loved one whom i exhort, cherish, and fully moral support all the way in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen!!!

@PTBNaija

This is my comment to you, do not believe hearing what Western media and ignorants people tell you about Nigeria so negatively, especially do not believe what Oprah Winfrey said about Nigeria too.

419/scammers are everywhere beside Nigeria---India, Russia, Malayia, Brazil, and 9 other "banned" countries according to the PayPal free merchant account, Federal/Goverment agencies and all major credit card issuing companies, their restricted for Nigerians.

Tell me why you so much interested in Nigeria as well as involved in Nairaland in the first place? I am not Nigerian, I am fully black America female U.S. citizen making several Nigerian-friends who are not 419/jobless/uneducated ones, and still learning their culture more for one year and one month now.

Finally, do your homework FIRST studying the history, economic, politic, and population of Nigeria. You will be surprised REAL TRUTH all about Nigeria. Yes of course, Nigeria has bad image that the whole  world hate. DO NOT EVER FORGET THAT Nigeria is not only one poorest country that the world hate, what about Cuba, what about other "banned" countries where USA refused them entering to the states?

Check out U.S. cenusus website tell you how many Nigerians legal immigrants as well as other Africans in the US already.

Go looking more details threads on Travel, Family, and Politic to discuss about Nigerian perspectives. In Travel section, there are lot of pictures of Lagos, other states/cities of Nigeria you will find there.

Poems For ReviewDeaf Poem: What Is It Like To Be Deaf? by uspry1(op): 2:55pm On Jun 27, 2007
"What is it like to be deaf?"
People have asked me.
Deaf? Oh, hmm, how do I explain that?
Simple: I can't hear.

No, wait, it is much more than that.
It is similar to a goldfish in a bowl,
Always observing things going on.
People talking at all times.
It is like a man on his own island
Among foreigners.

Isolation is no stranger to me.
Relatives say hi and bye
But I sit for 5 hours among them
Taking great pleasure at amusing babies
Or being amused by TV.
Reading books, resting, helping out with food.

Natural curiosity perks up
Upon seeing great laughter, crying, anger.
Inquiring only to meet with a "Never mind" or
"Oh, it's not important".
Getting a summarized statement
Of the whole day.

I'm supposed to smile to show my happiness.
Little do they know how truly miserable I am.
People are in control of language usage,
I am at loss and really uncomfortable!

Always feeling like an outsider
Among the hearing people,
Even though it was not their intention.

Always assuming that I am part of them
By my physical presence, not understanding
The importance of communication.

Facing the choice between Deaf Event weekend
or a family reunion.
Facing the choice between the family commitment
And Deaf friends.
I must make the choices constantly,
Any wonder why I choose Deaf friendshuh

I get such great pleasure at the Deaf clubs,
Before I realize it, it is already 2:00 am,
Whereas I anxiously look at the clock
Every few minutes at the Family Reunion.

With Deaf people, I feel so normal,
Our communication flows back and forth.
Catch up with little trivials, our daily life,
Our frustration in the bigger world,
Seeking the mutual understanding,
Contented smiles and laughter are musical.
So magical to me,
So attuned to each other's feelings.

True happiness is so important.
I feel more at home with Deaf people
Of various color, religion, short or tall.
Than I do among my own hearing relatives.
And you wonder why?
Our language is common.
We understand each other.

Being at loss of control
Of the environment that is communication,
People panic and retreat to avoid
Deaf people like the plague.

But Deaf people are still human beings
With dreams, desires, and needs
To belong, just like everyone else.

Do you mean computer technical documentation? if so, yes I do. I have done for non-technical, non-computer literacy corporate managers and small business owners.

I have excellent working experience in the field of administrative assistant for 13 years as well as website-graphic/multimedia designer/developer for 7 years.

I have the capabilities of creating graphically technical documentation as well as PowerPoint presentation, merging large amount of mailing listings from database such as MS-Access or MySQL into letter form automation and
doing document conversion to PDF, XML, Doc, and import into MySQL/MS-Access/Excel-CSV. I also do typing up client's handwritten business proposal and contract binding dynamically. I do some Flash-based visual storyboard presentation replacing PowerPoint presentation.

Prefer the combination of graphic, web, programming, and media to develop print media, web, or CD production.

What is the letter form automation? It is repeative manual pre-printed letter form for multiple customers' mailing addresses to be printed out at once without using manual typewriter or multiple address labels.

I don't understand why you are living with pothead jobless roomates in Dallas, Texas.

First thing you do is pick up Dallas newspaper looking up the classified advert sections seeking for:

--one bedroom apartment that you can afford your own expenses---forget those pothead roommates.
--job title you like to work for if you have H1 VISA requirement
--go to Dallas Workforce Employment Comission (free job hunting agency for all job seekers)

Second thing you do is pick up Dallas white pages telephone book to find local organization:
--Nigeria club organization
--Africa organization

God bless you.

check the following link of the worldwide Age of Candidacy from Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_candidacy

Age of candidacy in various countries

Australia
In Australia, a person must be 18 years of age or older may stand for election to public office at Federal, state or local government level.

Austria
In Austria, a person must be 19 years of age or older to stand in elections to the European Parliament or National Council. The Diets of regional Länder are able to set a minimum age lower than 19 for candidacy in elections to the Diet itself as well as to municipal councils in the Land.[1]

Canada
In Canada, any person 18 years of age or older may stand for election to public office. However, to be appointed to the Senate, one must be at least 30 years of age, must possess land worth at least $4,000 in the province for which he or she is appointed, and must own real and personal property worth at least $4,000, above his or her debts and liabilities. These restrictions were most recently enforced in 1997. (See Sister Peggy Butts.)

Denmark
In Denmark, any adult 18 years of age or older can become a candidate and be elected in any public election.

Italy
In Italy a person must be at least 50 to be President of the Republic, 40 to be a Senator, or 25 to be a Deputy, as specified in the 1947 Constitution of Italy. 18 years of age is sufficient, however, to be elected member of the Council of Regions, Provinces, and Municipalities (Communes).

Mexico
In Mexico a person must be at least 35 to be President, 35 to be a Senator, or 25 to be a Congressional Deputy, as specified in the 1917 Constitution of Mexico.

Netherlands
In the Netherlands, any adult 18 years of age or older can become a candidate and be elected in any public election.

Nigeria
In Nigeria, a person must be at least 40 years of age to be elected President or Vice President, 35 to be a Senator or State Governor, and 30 to be a Representative in parliament.

United Kingdom
In the UK (other than in Northern Ireland) a person must be aged 18 or over to stand in elections to all parliaments, assemblies, and councils at the European, UK, devolved, or local level. This age requirement also applies in elections to any individual elective public office; the main example is that of an elected mayor, whether of London or a local authority. There are no higher age requirements for particular positions in public office. Candidates are required to be aged eighteen on both the day of nomination and the day of the poll. The age of candidacy was reduced from 21 to 18 in England, Wales and Scotland on 1 January 2007,[2] when section 17 of the Electoral Administration Act 2006 entered into force. The reduction applies to elections to be held on or after 3 May 2007.[3]

United States
In the United States a person must be at least 35 to be President or Vice President, 30 to be a Senator, or 25 to be a Representative, as specified in the U.S. Constitution. Most states in the U.S. also have age requirements for the offices of Governor, State Senator, and State Representative. Some states have a minimum age requirement to hold any elected office (usually 21 or 18). Most states will not allow ballot access to people who do not meet the age requirement of the office they are running for. Below are some examples of state public office age requirements in the U.S.:

Michigan

Governor: 30
State Senator: 21
State Representative: 21
Any county or local office: 18

Oregon

Governor: 30
State Senator: 21
State Representative: 21

Public Utilities Commissioner: 25

Tennessee

Governor: 30
State Senator: 30
State Representative: 21

Texas

Governor 30
State Senator: 26
State Representative: 21
Any county or local office: Usually 18

@poster, if u are not sure about his workaholic story, then get your fact right before confronting him, but if he is really working like he said then i think u should let him be and be there 4 him, because if in the future he is given a job that takes him out of the country all the time, what would u do then
I agree with @anabell to get your fact right finding out why he really like working hard and what is his goals for. Let me share my bad marriage experience with you. I was married by forced whom i don't love---ended up divorce 5 years later. That was 20 years ago due to his workaholic addict, selfish stingy, cruel verbal abuse, no-good father/husband role, HEAVY debt delinquency, marriage neglected and money-spending recklessly.

10 years ago, my ex-husband talked to me face to face confession that he was gambling addict to work so hard having 3 jobs (not necessary) caused him out of control losing evicted apartment, car repossessed, lost friends,  neglecting paying bills and his health is deteriorated. Being obssessing on winning money to make wife happy but he lost lot of money on gambling, lottery, and football pool without my knowledge when we were married. He apologized me for family neglected, selfish himself to be pride that he was rich guy getting attention to everyone (show off expensive luxury apartment that he cannot afford it)---does not know how to be MAN!!! I already forgiven him.

He now is dying, hard time to quit workaholic that he can't live without it. He is sick and very addictive on workaholic.(now one job but work 7 days a week that he suppose to take 2 days paid off and 10 days paid vacation---still he work on 2 days off, weekend, and public holidays). He never change at all.

The more his health deteriorated, numerous of cancer spreading everywhere on his body, because he did not take care of himself, for years years years he slept only 4 hours every nights getting ready to work, he thinks he is ROBOT!!!

It is sadly fact that my ex-husband is still workaholic over 20 years, not have time to see his own children now soon grown adult, just rarely see only on their birthday and Christmas holiday. He lives only 30 minutes driving not far---his favorite lame excuse not able to see his children - - - HIS JOB.

Hmmm, let's travel all West Africa on the Altantic ocean where Slavery took place 400 years ago. I love history, wild life animals, and sightseeing with my worldwide lifetime vacation resort condo membership.

I just found out but i forgot all about it since the movie "Roots" that took place in Gambia, Africa. I personally met the author, Alex Haley as surprise guest speaker in my high school's Black History Month 20 years ago before his death. I was his introduction speaker at my school. I will never forget what I took by surprise---my social study (history) teachers had been keep secret all along and chose me doing introduction speaker and biography story about "Marcus Garvey".

As of yesterday, I bumped into new naija friend asking this person where he/she is from, saying Gambia. I researched on wikipedia that's where I discovered and forgot about Alex Haley for a long time. Alex's family generation had traced back to Gambia---that's why he wrote a book, later was made in movie.
