and by the way, school is full of craps that dont apply to real life. up till now, i've never seen an atom and i dont know how that information will help me to make money today.

it really makes no sense to go to the university considering the fact that those that didnt go to university get more job opportunities than the graduates. there is virtually no work in the society today that cant be done by illiterates who just acquired their skills outside the 4 walls of the university, so whats the point?

take for instance, opposite my house here, some1 just completed a 2 storey building. and i didnt find any single graduate among the workers. the guy just went to lagos and brought some builders who came and built his house from foundation to roofing. all were illiterates who learnt how to build houses outside d university. d question is; why should some1 spend 5 yrs studying civil engineering in nigeria?

go to the mechanic village; all the auto mechanics there are illiterates. and some1 will spend more than =N=500,000. studying mechanical engineering for 5 yrs.

d music industry? i dont know their profiles but i can bet they didnt study music in the university.

fashion design? all illiterates.

i can go on and on.

i pity our unemployed graduates who spent their fortune and time acquiring university education only to come out to find there are no jobs for them.

what is this i'm hearing about immigration employment where job seekers where asked to pay money to apply for a job. and that the director general of nigerian immigration services says he does not know about it. that it was the minister that gave the orders. yet the presidency and efcc are silent?

THE Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), has decried increasing level of corruption in Nigeria, saying government should display courage to fight the menace outrightly.

According to a communiqué issued after its NEC meeting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Thursday, NASU also considered President Goodluck Jonathan’s war against corruption as lacking in sincerity and commitment, even with the presence of anti-graft agencies in the country.

“The cost of governance in the country is going up as a result of corruption. Everyone is interested in government now because of what he or she can make out of it. Private sector is being used to siphon public fund and no one has been jailed since the fight began by this government. This government is not doing enough; it should be practical about it.

“For instance, no one has been jailed over the oil subsidy scam. I won’t be surprised if those involved are given chieftaincy titles soon. I don’t think that is good for our system,” he said.
NASU also urged President Jonathan, the National Assembly and the judiciary to fight the war with renewed vigour, in order to save the country.

NASU’s national president, Mrs Ladi Iliya, read part of the communiqué: “NEC-in-session endorses the resolution adopted by the schools and colleges’ trade group council during its regular meeting in Abeokuta April, that the National Assembly should not grant autonomy to local government authorities, as doing so will negatively affect the regular payment of NASU members’ salaries in primary schools.

“NEC-in-session expresses serious worries over non-release of funds for the payment of salaries for the months of August and September to NASU members in Nigerian universities, despite the fact that its members are not on strike.

“The NEC feels betrayed by the silence which has caused uneasy calm on campuses. NEC, therefore, gives the Federal Government seven days, with effect from Wednesday, September 25, within which it should release and order the payment of the salaries; failure of which will make NASU members proceed on an indefinite strike with effect from Thursday, October 3.”

How many power plants was built within the period? Was there any middle class (outside politicians and senior govt workers) within the period?

All we saw within the period was further balkanization (creation of more states and local govt) of the country, business as usual and handing down crumbs to sycophants and those around the corridors of power.

The 40,000MW of electric power that South Africa boast of today, was it not built in the last 5 years? It was not built by Jacob Zuma. What was Nigeria doing when South Africa was building power plants upon plants?

Sometimes its not even buying these equipments, it is about having the right people with right training and frame of mind to put them to use. But basic minimum MUST be provided. All the pot-bellied men in the military leadership and ministry of defence should better remedy the situation. This is why I hate to see either police or military men with pot belly.
