sensisosu:I think that nurses on this forum would be able to give a better view. However, from what I have garnered thus far, a Nigerian RN gets an assessment of 2 or 3 years hospital training or study by WES. This does not give any points on the crs as it doesn't fall into any of the classification groups under education. Only Bsc nursing gives the points for bachelors degree. Going through NNAS is required for starting the process for getting licensed as a nurse. Nnas is not one of the CiC approved organisations for evaluation of your qualification. Others can give a more informed opinion. |
I agree with your analysis. There would be fewer people with crs scores in the 700s-1000s like before. Only persons with PNPs will have those scores. It also in a way helps students with canadian qualifications. So, some of them would no longer need to opt for a PNP to boost their crs scores. An extra 30 points can easily move a bachelors holder from 441 to 471 making him or her a much better candidate for an ITA. There were also speculations before now that persons with canadian PRs or citizens as first degree relatives may get awarded points but in a way i am happy that didn't happen. It would have gone against the whole idea of economic migration in my opinion. dupyshoo: |
So they are extending the period for submitting eAPR post ITA from 60 to 90 days and now points are being awarded for Canadian education. 30 points for a 3 yrs post secondary study qualification or a bachelors or first professional degree or masters or a PhD and 15 points for a 1-2 yrs post secondary study qualification. Exceptions are for programmes with distance learning forming up to half of the study, programs without at least 8 months full time study with physical presence in Canada. |
Good morning. How many ghost mails am i supposed to receive? I think i've got 2 thus far notifying me of an update to my application but can't see any new update. Oh well, we wait. let me run and read these new changes......brb |
Thanks iphie, patiently waiting to celebrate your PPR, its a few days away now. iphie25: Zimex:Thanks for this. lol @ 4th GCMS due end of Nov. |
Larrydamsel: coolhayor:I concur. Please could you share your timeline? It would help a lot. nadina:@nadina, read your posts and noticed you got PPR in 28 days. Wow! please could you share your timeline as regards the process? Also, have you landed yet? if yes, what was your experience? |
Zimex:Congrats |
Hello Everyone. Post ITA, how is the eAPR going for those currently in the process? I finally submitted mine over the weekend. Fingers crossed and hoping for the best. Please can those of us applying, those who have done so in the past and anyone with useful info on anything to note or watch out for pre and post-submission, etc etc.....kindly shed some light. Thanks. |
I believe your proof of funds can be either a current or savings account as long as it contains unemcumbered funds and is in your name. We are in the same boat as regards this. Gtbank had earlier informed me that they would issue the reference letter in the IRCC format only to get back to me yesterday after two weeks that they would be unable to do so and they can only issue a generic letter. Quite annoying because this is not even the account where my pof funds are in and has been the bank delaying my submission for a week now. Well, get their generic letter, six months bank statement and write a letter of explanation. That is what I am doing. Fusion23: |
I do not quite agree with your reason for advising him against adding a spouse. As the letter clearly states, it was not because he included a spouse that he failed to meet requirements. He failed to meet requirements because after adding a spouse his CRS no longer met the points for which he was sent an ITA. So, the advise should be that the intended applicant should re calculate his crs with his spouse included. This would mean having her degree evaluated and her ielts done. If with the addition of a spouse and claiming points for her education and language test, his crs still meets the minimum crs for the draw in which he received an ITA, then he shouldn't have a problem. A letter of explanation clearly stating his change of marital status should suffice. If he no longer meets the minimum crs after the addition of a spouse then he should decline the ITA. bigfido: |
Thanks Gymme: |
Hi everyone. I have a question about PCC for Nigeria. When uploading onto my eAPR, do i include the app form that has the finger prints and passport photograph attached or do i only upload the pcc? |
Test report form Fusion23: |
You are welcome. Is it cheaper than the others? ![]()

|
@Fusion, add your degree certificate (s) , ielts trf and eca...all scanned copies of the originals merged into one pdf file and upload under the slot for education. There is no separate slot for them and the eAPR does not specifically request for them but I guess it's good to upload them just in case. Someone asked about Qlife, I have no idea but I do know that IOM is more expensive than the Children's and Consultant's practice clinic. Please, all those who have gone through the eAPR app, any advice or pointers you have for those of us currently in the process would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance ![]() I read somewhere about attaching schedule A to the letter of explanation slot, did anyone here do that? Also, for those who did utilize the LOE option, did you attach your LOE to just the slot provided or did you attach different LOEs as the first page in the concerned area. |
Just read this. It's a win win situation. You should get a decision on your PR app before this current ITA even expires. iphie25: |
Thank you. I would send you a PM asap. dupyshoo: |
1. No, it is a joint savings account. We had not decided who was going to be PA so we opened a joint account just to be safe. 2. Funds deposited came from my salary account and other savings account as well as my husband's account.[ Yes, I can provide all bank statements showing movement of funds for the joint , my salary, his account. It would be a lot of bank statements but they are readily available. dupyshoo: |

Thanks. I am a "sis" though. Lol! emiye:I think November is around the corner so you may as well wait till then to get your statement printed Fusion23:I have pof questions myself. Opened an account for EE savings earlier this year and that account won't be 6 months old until Dec 29th which is past the deadline for submitting an app for this ITA. I am considering 2 options. Option 1. Wait till December to print out the statement and then write a letter of explanation as to why the account is a couple of days shy of being 6 months old. Option 2. Transfer the funds into another bank account of mine and write a letter of explanation as to where the source of funds came from and why I had to move them. I would appreciate all of your thoughts as regards this. Thanks. |
WOW!!!! I just got ITA. I had no idea there was gonna be a draw today. Gosh! this feels so surreal. I only entered the pool last friday. WOW!!! For other doctors and health professionals, I would try to give details of my process so far and I hope it would help give an idea of timelines if you need it. So, finally decided to start the process for EE in June, 2016. Set up my physicians apply account($278) on 18th June and commenced the SVR ($157) for my medical degree. I sent the necessary copies (all notarized) of documents required by MCC (certified identity confirmation, medical degree, passport bio-data page, consent release form and marriage certificate) via DHL and they acknowledged receipt and uploaded to my account on 29th June. However, I got a message at this point that the copy of my marriage certificate was cut off on one margin and so my medical degree was given an incomplete status until i sent a full copy to them. I had to send by courier again and I was so not happy about paying that DHL fee twice. My medical degree was changed to an accepted status after they received and approved the new copy of my marriage certificate on July 21st. They sent it to ECFMG same day and ECFMG sent the verification request to my school on July 22nd. My school received the request by September 8th (about 7 weeks after it was sent via regular post) and I paid for the reply to be sent via courier on September 14th. It was delivered to ECFMG on September 21st. ECFMG returned my verification: passed to MCC on Oct 7th. (it took about 11 working days as opposed to 20 as advised on their site). I paid for my ECA ($102) same day and courier fee to Nigeria ($140). I received an email on Oct 14th from MCC notifying me that my ECA was ready. (it was issued on OCt 11th. so it took 3 working days as opposed to 21 working days as advised on the site). I received my ECA via courier today. I created my EE profile on Oct 14th with CRS of 482 (claiming 10 points for my spouse's degree and 18 points for his IELTS). ITA received today. Now, time to prep all documents. Congrats to everyone who received an ITA with this recent draw and all the best to everyone still awaiting an invite, it will surely happen soon. |
@maternal and @shinarambo1 just to chip in. The issue of discrimination is not exactly new. It happens everywhere in the world in varying degrees. While you fill race, in Nigeria, you fill state of origin. So potatoe potato. It may be true that the chances of a 30 year old applying to study towards a first degree might reduce chances of an easy student visa grant to any country. However, I do not think that that factor in isolation is the basis on which any responsible visa officer would be able to refuse a student visa applicant. A 30 year old with significant post secondary study and/or work experience definitely will not fall into this category. So, for instance, someone who studied nursing or an OND and then worked for years after and then now wants to go study towards a bachelors most certainly stands a better chance than one who only holds a high school diploma with little or no work experience. Also, when it comes to financial support for studies, it's pretty common knowledge that most embassies prefer a first degree relative to any other family member or friend. So, if maternal was sponsoring her 30 year old sibling this would be a much easier visa app. If also, this cousin has been under your financial sponsorship for years before now and there is significant paper trail to prove that, then this app would also be easier. In a nutshell, reasons for visa refusals are usually multi factorial. While there are cases of seemingly flimsy refusals, I do believe that they represent the minority and are not the norm as I also like @shinarambo1 know of several persons in their 30s who have successful gotten student visas to Canada over the past one year. |
It's real oh. Kept refreshing the "rounds of invitation" section which is still showing Sept 21st. Thanks. 1,518 ITAs at 484 though. Means a lotta peeps have upgraded crs points. JesusDWay: |
Finally. Modified - I did not see a 44th draw on the cic site though. Dude may have been pulling our legs Gymme: |
my refresh button is tired. do you have any hypothesis? Gymme: |
Please am I the only one wondering why there has been no express entry draw in 3 weeks? |
Onlineise i spy you! greetings all d way from missionary journey thread |
Meanwhile how come there was no express entry draw this week? Anyone with any ideas why? |
In my opinion, I would advise you to apply for a remark for your writing and speaking. You have nothing to lose. It will take you 6-10 weeks to get the result but the average response comes in 7 weeks. It costs N15k which is refundable if your scores are upgraded. I do not think that your assessment body accesses your ielts result online. I may be wrong but if that is the case then you only need a clear coloured scan of your test report form which you can do by using your phone to snap it just before submitting it for a remark. If you wanna play safe, then you can apply for your assessment first and after which, you apply for a remark. There is no guarantee that you would ace PTE. While it is a more likely option that you would, it's better to not put all your eggs in one basket. Bnimz: |
You are welcome. chifylo: |
