If I have paid the rent, the house is mine for that period I paid for. Why pay holding fee for my house. Except after contract expiration the landlord refuse to collect the one month rent in which case they should keep staying till they get another place.

Is it legal to just boot someone out after contract expiration if the person was will to continue on a monthly rolling basis?

Will they tell the court that they are looking for 6 months upfront hence the quit notice?

hello people. please i need some answers. when we first got into the uk, we paid our rent 6 months upfront and signed a 6 months tenancy agreement. its one and half month to its expiration and our agent is asking for another upfront payment or we meet the earning criteria for renting the house. My hubby got a job that meets the criteria but would resume within this month, we communicated this to the agent and they are saying we wouldn't pass the referencing because he would still be on probationary period, mind you it is a permanent job that meets the earning criteria. Are they correct? They are now asking for a uk guarantor which we don't have. please does anyone know how we can handle this situation? is there anyway we can rent a guarantor? or should we insist that they go ahead with the referencing when my hubby resumes. i am really confused as we don't have 6 months upfront to pay again and we have no guarantor.

Reference is to check if the person is employed so the reference check should pass despite being in probation.

I also doubt you can be evicted for not paying several months in advance since the law requires monthly payments except they want to lie on the eviction notice. I think you should allow them do the reference check and if they say it failed and you should move, you will stay there and be paying monthly till you get another place even if it takes months again.

But the Nigerian economy benefits from the repatriation of forex from immigrants.
The immigrants themselves live a higher quality of life than they would in their home land.
So it's a win win situation.
