I'm more concerned about the reference they provided for the prospective landlord. I forwarded the emails we exchanged with the old agency to the landlord and she mentioned the apartment was clean enough but would rather speak directly with the old landlord.

This is worrisome. So sorry that things are happening this way. While you sort this one out, I'll advise you do not use this agent/landlord as reference in the future. Look for any other references if possible. It's good that this prospective landlord revealed this to you rather than just ghosting you.

The system somehow pushes you to build credit and using credit card is one of the ways to do that. When I just came and was looking for accomodation, landlords/agents were talking about credit score, it sounded strange but brought the idea of credit to my consciousness.

You my friend understands how the tax works, the problem with the newbies is the like to jump into conclusion without properly analysing the whole fact. Another fact is this two people might work in same place earn same 24k per year but mr A might take home more than Mr B cos of tax codes. Back in the early and late 200os you get a cheque back cos you have been overtaxed cos your tax code was based on BR 20% but these days HMRC have upgraded instead of returning your overtaxed money the simply adjust your tax code to reflect the money they owe you.

I won't dispute you further. But just so you know, my wife received a cheque yesterday refunding her 440 because she was overtaxed in the last tax cycle.

same here. Was not taxed from December. My first tax was this April. Was only paying NI. But I think the reason is because the new tax year begins in April

Was your total pay from December to March more than 12750? If it's not you won't be taxed.

Tax allowance = 12k plus
Annual salary = 24k (assumption)
Monthly salary = 2k.
Taxable income = 12k (i.e 24k -12k)

You will be taxed monthly throughout the tax cycle (i.e one year). Meaning instead of paying tax on 2k monthly, you will be paying tax on 1k monthly. If your salary is less than the tax allowance (i.e 12k plus), you won't pay tax at all.

His explanation is you won't be taxed for the first 6 months till you have earned above 12k and that is wrong.

You just go to accounts and add a digital card. You should be able to add and delete cards anytime.

This is it, nothing like digital card. The only option for card is to make an order. Can you provide further guidance please?

I use Wise, and it's very good. Free disposable cards you can use as well. I'm not sure how their exchange rates compares with others, but they've been very solid over the years.

How do you create the disposable card on wise. Can't find such option when logged in to the app.

The argument is that you won't get automatic employment by presenting your certificate. The certificate can put you at an advantaged position but you will still need to pass interview to get the job.

If you have certificate and someone without certificate performs better than you at interview, they will take the person and leave you with your certificate true or false?
