A man whose spirit and resolve can never be broken What would you expect from him. He has no known profession nor business. He survives through what he is doing. If he comes out knowing fully well that he can't achieve Biafra then he will become irrelevant. The best bet is for him to remain in custody and form saviour. If he had flourishing profession or businesses before now he would have been worried that they have all been scattered. For his lawyers the case offers them unusual popularity. Who knew that Ejimarko lawyer before now? |

Diverse nation is what is killing Britain!
I don’t like Kemi but I endorse her stance. She is clearly doing what the whites want to do but are afraid to do. So they elected a black person to do it.
Fix your country, pay attention to who you elect to represent you and you won’t have to go to Britain. The Brits like to hover. When they take these decisions and they start to bite then they reverse. There was a time when the policy was study and go home. What happened? Why did they reverse it? An aging country want to discourage young vibrant workers from coming to their country. Let's see how it goes. You want me to come to your country to work and contribute to your economy and pay taxes for 15 years and I will not be a citizen. No problem continue and let's see how it goes. |

The future is tech. AI is taking over. Acquiring a tech skills should be a must in our educational system.
Years back I had to talk some sense into my young bro who wanted to study mechanical engineering " the same course I graduated wit but nothing to show for it and I had to switch profession". I told him to go for software engineering or cyber security. After all the argument he took my advice and now a graduate of computer engineering from FUTMINNA and his his doing so well for himself and the family.
After chopping books like Engineering Drawing with Worked Examples, by F. Pickup and M.A. Parker, and graduating wit a 2.1, I still ended up changing profession. Changing profession is nothing new. Everyone must not be in the ICT industry. There are those that studied mechanical engineering and are doing well. Technology and knowledge change. They key is be the best in what you choose to do. |

SmartPolician: Yes, it makes a lot of sense. Some governments need to shrink the size of civil service to save money for the country. If Nigeria was a serious country, we would've shut down either the senate or house of reps long ago.
Go to bloated civil service and see people reading newspapers and sharing gists. The vast majority of them don't even come to work. Meanwhile, billions of naira are budgeted in salaries for these folks every year.
Tinubu should go and meet Trump to learn leadership because the latter knows zilch about it. Let PBAT try it and you will see the whole country against him out of sentiment. |

Bullet4thiefnub: Suddenly they realized this , same anti subsidy removal rioters during GEJ era GEJ that can't control his ministers. He wanted to remove petroleum subsidy and retain fx and electricity subsidy. It's like locking up one door and allowing multiple doors open to milk away what you saved. With all the sophistication of okonjo-iwuala she did remember the impact of our archaic tax laws on our economy. |
Politics › Re: Nigerians Lived In “Window-Dressed Realities” Before Subsidy Removal – Oyedele by Vision101(m): 12:06pm On Jan 21, 2025 |
Ojuntana: First of all, it is deeply concerning the change in rhetoric that occurs when the teeth of otherwise intelligent and resourceful professional are set on corn. The kind of gibberish that starts to flow is a sign that the corn being offered on a platter is indeed of the fermented stock. It intoxicates the gobbler with a resultant effect that's comparable with that of the famed 40 year whiskey.
That said, I find it insulting to Nigerians and their hardwork and intelligence when people make this silly narratives of fake life or window-dressed realities. This is more so when the people who make these kind of condescending statements are those who have benefited maximally from the society and have not ploughed back what can be said to be commensurate with what they've accrued for themselves from the proverbial cake.
Imagine a situation where a man who after enjoying the benefits of the high office of governor, and while leaving office makes a law that enables him to continue to enjoy the perks of that same office perpetually as if he were still an occupant.
Not only that, choice properties are allocated to him by him. He then turns around to accuse others of living a fake life.
Ditto this particular case as well. A man who was called to rewrite tax laws which will ensure more money goes to the political elites to fund their excesses and lifestyle both in and out of office turns round to accuse others of window dressing their realities.
I make bold to say Nigerians are among the most deprived yet hopeful and hardworking on the surface of the earth.
The average Nigerian has no social infrastructure or welfare system to fall back on in time of crisis save for a strong family structure.
The average Nigerian farmer works with the least of tools. Yet he's been asked to produce crops to feed the populace and export as well.
The average mechanic works with the basic of tools. Yet he's expected to drive innovation in technology.
Same for the average carpenter bricklayer, tailor etc. No program to empower such hardworking Nigerians exist.
Rather, they are dumped on the lowest rung of the ladder and left alone to climb or drown while getting talked down on if they ask for a reprieve.
The UK spends 25% of its budget on social welfare and infrastructure. In countries like Saudi which are oil producing like Nigeria, home ownership is a right.
Shall we speak of countries like Norway where unemployment benefits sometimes exceed employment income for the citizens.
Nigerian leaders and elites are among the most corrupt and wasteful in the world. Yet, they hardly take responsibility for how the country has turned out on their watch. They are a bunch of greedy taskmasters who believe in being unquestionable and unquestioned.
One day na one day sha Yes I agree with you concerning the high rate of corruption and mismanagement by the political class but have you considered the effect of population. The rate of growth of our population is higher than our GDP rate. It's an untouchable issue because touching it will bring several attacks. |
