RomanceRe: Can U Marry Osu by vivianc(f): 4:05pm On Jun 22, 2013
bknight: No poster has actually said its a nice thing discriminating against the OSU caste system. Some only said they're not willing to fight for such unions, so they'll prefer not to.

For anyone to be identified as such means its still there. Maybe time will fade it. While mynd44 is right, Vivianc made her choice. Practically, Not even FG can force her to marry a guy believed to be OSU
While we kick against female genital mutilation, some girls willingly want it to uphold the tradition of her people. Call it illiteracy, but some traditional beliefs, customs won't be eradicated in one night.
This is anoTher misconcepTion. I said yes I would marry an osu but That doesn't mean my parenTs won't kick againsT iT, but where does my loyalTy lie? WiTh my parenTs or the love of my life? The statement means I will fighT for The one I love.

You didn't see it cos iT did not exist. It only existed in his silly head.

Look aT the logical argument of a supposed sane person? grin grin grin grin Menh, I gat no time for a braT like you. STop trying so hard, cos you don't have iT.

One more Thing? Attack me again and you and I would make this section unmoderateable. Their are a lot of people here my views do not conform with Theirs, I don't go about aTTacking Them. As a very "forward" monkey, you should do The same. grin

I have warned you several times, This is the final warning!

alutacontinua: I don't think she's tryna respect or live by the view here. She's just tryna say so far as it still matters to some people and these people are important to our decision of who to spend the rest of our life with, we have to face the idea of what to do and not just brush it aside and pretend like it's not real or it doesn't matter BECAUSE IT MATTERS! Most especially when it is almost next to impossible to change their views on the matter.

grin when This puppy talks about "developmenT" and "backward" whaTever, iT cracks me up cos "iT" doesn't even have atTainable developmental goals. And one of The rules of setTing developmenTal goals I know is set pracTical ones.

@Xynerise: you are righT! But are all of grandfathers and fathers really chrisTians? If They are, why do we still have Ozo TiTle holders? Masquerade festivals? New yam festivals? Are They ChrisTian pracTices?
How would this practices end? Simple, generaTion would outlive them. Cos I can't have a son aT this age who would tell me "yo, mum, I'm of age, I wanT The masquerade rite of passage." grin And who told u chrisTianity doesn't have a form of discrimination? "Do noT be unequally yoked wiTh an un-believer." Did God not creaTe This un-believer? So why is iT biblically wrong for a believer to marry an un-believer?

Is discriminaTion wrong? Yes! However, anyone that says its noT a human phenomenon is in denial!

For the poster To creaTe this thread, ThaT means iT is real where he comes from. He needed advice. So would a beTTer have been "hey, your faTher is a fo...ol bla bla bla.......?" Does that solve the problem? Ok, if he walked up to his faTher and said "yo, pops u are a fo..ol," he would shiver and give his blessing?
RomanceRe: Can U Marry Osu by vivianc(f): 1:55pm On Jun 22, 2013
grin grin Monkeys? Awww, how I love them! STories have it that they where supposed To be humans, buT ............. Well, That's why They are delusional animals who have lost Touch wiTh realiTies.

Considering you acTually have a striking resemblance with monkey (from your pic I have seen) I'm not surprised you came from a descendant of one. Not just a monkey but a silly one who doesn't have a mind of iTs own.

@Bluedevil and co: you guys are fo..ols for making this abouT me. Where in my post did I discriminate againsT osu? How does acknowledging the fact That osu concepT is really TranslaTe to me discriminating against Them? I made iT clear whaT I would do if I'm in That situaTion, but would the posTer be willing to Take such drastic measure?

In my previous posT, I used some key sentences; "The tradition of our forefaThers," "some of our faThers have not embraced the wesTern culTure; aka Christianity," and "no traditional parenTs would......."

The osu concepT has defiled a lot of ideologies, and barking like a deranged dog won't sTop iT, neither would any law banish iT. I can imagine a case where a man or woman would sue his/her parenTs because they forbid him or her to marry an osu grin. One Thing I'm sure is, generation would ouTlive iT.

Since you made this about me, I might as well use myself as an example. The only reason I know about This is because I meT the generaTions of my grandfaTher and my father, and these are The generations That wiTnessed and undersTood The osu saga, would my own kids no abouT it? Hell no! Unless Through formal educaTion.

So if The posTer has a generaTion thaT witnessed this osu saga, what would you have him do? Call his faTher a fool? Okwuru ona akari onye kuru ya? Nwata maburu nna ya, ogodo ekpuchie ya anya. (Mind you, The Umunna is a formidable force in igbo land) or leave The girl he obviously loves so much? These 2 people are important to him, the decision of The one To forego if The worsT happens is entirely his call (and The girl's).

Like I said, Osu concepT is real in some parTs and Thank God aT leasT now they mix, use same market and all. The place its still very strong in most Igboland is marriage and Trust me when the generaTion of most of our faThers passes, Osu would die wiTh iT cos I'm sure a lot of people in this generation don't care abouT this rubbish. The policy of "don't ask don't Tell" would kill iT.

Come to think of iT, do you know the osus discriminate against some other set of people called the "Umeh?" I guess noT.

Barking on The inTernet like a mad dog abouT someThing a lot of us know nothing about would noT solve This problem, in theory iT is sweet, but pracTically? Another different sTory.
grin grin grin I jusT remembered when where I come from, no man would marry any lady who sweeps with tips of broom and her waisT not properly benT, cos They believe such a woman is noT well trained and can't keep a home. In fact, as a growing child, my mum and grandmum made sure I sweep "properly." BuT now who gives a rat's azz abouT those Things?

uniqueren: those are not rantings neither can a fool write that
those are the salient P.O.V of some or do i said most people esp the elderly

as for me I frankly don't think i can marry an osu
but that doesn't mean i will dissuade someone else from marrying his/her partner on that context
grin You dey mind them? They think tradition is as easy as social networking.

Whenever you fall in love with an Osu, brace up yourself cos you are in for a hard fight.

I think some people should sharrap, people's culture are unique to them.

Osu is very real in igboland, in some parts they are avoided like a plague. They don't even share same market-square, or village meetings with the "di alas." The concept of osu is not serious in some parts but they are still recognised as osu. Where I come from, we don't avoid them, but there is always this "oh they are osu" whispering whenever the need arises.

This is the tradition of our forefathers, and it hasn't been abolished, yet. We must acknowledge that whenever we bring someone home for marriage, our parents carry out these investigations behind our back. Saying its primitive is being myopic, as no matter how educated we are, we have roots and most times we go way back to our roots. And sorry, most of our fathers have not embraced the western culture.

However, would I marry an osu? Yes! But that doesn't mean my parents will not kick against it. But where does my loyalty lie? With my parents or with the love of my life?

Poster, this is a decision you have to make. Trust me, no traditional igbo parents would give their blessing, but are u willing to fight this? Is your love greater than the fear of being rejected by ur kinsmen? Think this through ok? Goodluck!

RomanceRe: 6 Advantages Of Being Single by vivianc(f): 9:11am On Jun 20, 2013
I used to think being single is fun till these past few days, cold wan kill me every midnight. Hot tea and all the blankets in this wouldn't just warm me up.

I have been stressed out for few weeks now, I walk around like a zombie and I just wish, I really just wish that when I get home there would be someone there to share the events of our day with.

I miss giggling, I miss flirting, I miss how my heart beats whenever "he" calls. I miss those crazy things I do when I'm in love. I miss cooking cos I know someone can't wait to almost eat the plate while I watch with smiles on my face.

The one I miss most is how I would cause problems because I want "his" attention more; the arguments, the fights and the hot make up se...x that follows. *pls don't try this at home without supervision*

I'm now sister in christ (figuratively) and its not fun.

There are a lot of things I enjoy about being single; like freedom, no more boys' drama. I get to have some "vivian time" and I go wherever I want, whenever I want and no query. But to be honest, I think our lives would never be free of dramas, life itself is dramatic. However, I'd choose being single over being hitched with a man that would make my life miserable.

tbanger: No one is saying the policies of the government should not be criticized. Attacking his office and his person is just wrong. Even in advanced democracies, it is never done. The republicans will never call Obama names. If abusing Jonathan is the way of standing the heat, then you guys should should carry your politics to the SUN!
First of all, I'm not a politician. In as much as I see GEJ adminisTration as a very disappointing one and highly corrupT, I wouldn'T aTtack his personality. I would only aTTack his office.

So did They aTTack his personality or his office? Can you give an example of the names they actually called him?

Let's not be blinded by sentiments here.

That's why They are called "opposition" parTy. They are There To criticise every move, decision, policy, eTc you make.

Do you expecT The "opposition" parTy To be in romance wiTh the ruling parTy? Hell no!

That's how poliTics is played, if you can't stand the heat, geT ouT of the kiTchen biko.

His heart of Gold and his over-protective nature towards his children. My dad would kill anybody who touches us, we are like an oracle to him.

He is a good faTher, but not a great one and I have been so mad at him sometimes. I blame him so much for how stressful my life has been....................

Well, he did something on the night of my 21st birthday; I knelt down before him and he looked unto the sky and showered me wiTh blessings.
........... I know he didn't shower me with material gifts, he doesn't provide anything I need or whatever like my peers' dads (cos he doesn't have) ............... But I have taken solace in the mere thought that he means well for me and he loves me.

I love him so much. He is and will always be the mosT important man in my life.
