ComputersRe: Nigeria Ranks Top As Internet Users In Africa! by walcolm(m): 3:18pm On Mar 04, 2012
aasog1:
No1 in Africa my a$$, when an average south-african, libya and egypt, cotonou, and ghanian would navigate the same cyberspace and download info we would spend months downloading within 30 mins.
While in the US late last year, the internet service I used there was a 50/20 Mbps Plan with a dedicated modem, and internet security and cost me $99 and I could use it for a whole year. I have never seen anything so wonderful, yet, the American government is planning to create better internet speed if not the world best. So much for deregulation in this country. So far, internet in Nigeria is a big fraud and thank God, with the NCC protecting the providers, it seems we will keep celebrating rubbish.
well, one thing you have to realize is that with critical mass comes better value for the end users. what has been happening is that the nigerian market has been growing so any idiot can come in and still milk profit. remember the report says like 400 ISPs have been licensed. with a population of 160million and 90 million of that using GSM actively the market will soon stabilize

once the market size stabilizes, people will start moving to the person who provides the most cost effective service, so the competition will shift to bigger data plan and faster speeds.

Lemme tell youse why BlackBerry's here to stay in this here Nigeria. The network providers LOVE it, 'cause they don't have to use their allocated bandwidth and servers to provide service, they use RIM's.
_
The (heavy internet) users LOVE it, 'cause instead of shelling out 7.5k per month for a meagre 6GB of data, all the while consciously switching off stuff like auto-sync/update so as to not use up the 6GB, they shell out 8k for 3 months UNLIMITED data. No worries of using it up. No denying themselves certain services just so they don't use up their allocated data.
_
And the more guys like youse "switch o'er to droids 'cause it's "da bomb", the less tariff we have to pay, 'cause you'll be freeing up bandwidth.
Nice one. and with the new set of BBs sporting up to 1.2ghz processors and 1gb ram, it gets even better BB users

FamilyRe: Pregnancy: How Did This Happen Again? by walcolm(m): 7:46am On Mar 01, 2012
@OP,

if you had sex 2weeks before 23rd February when you started this thread, it is medically difficult for that pregnancy to be detectable at this time by an over the counter pregnancy test kit.

if you are truly pregnant, then you're pregnant from another sexcapade before that of 3 weeks ago.

you might want to review your sexual encounters of the last few months. maybe one of those guys could be responsible

I wonder why people blame everything on government. Even when a local government does not perform, they still blame the federal govt
so in this case, who are you supposed to blame? the people who have to queue for hours to get fuel or who are forced to buy at between 130 and 250 per litre?
BusinessRe: Petrol Selling At N130 In Some Parts Of Ogun by walcolm(m): 1:10pm On Feb 29, 2012
petrol is selling at 130 in many parts of nigeria and 200 -250 in the black market

FamilyRe: What Really Is The Way To A Man's Heart? (for The Men Only) by walcolm(m): 8:22am On Feb 29, 2012
there are many human variants out there that are tagged male species.

if what you have is a MAN in the traditional sense of it, then the way to his heart is RESPECT.
oh, by the way, respect is not you saying 'i respect you' just before insulting him in an argument, it's about your actions especially when you think he's not looking
EducationRe: Help! Lecturer Wants To Ruin My Life by walcolm(m): 8:12am On Feb 29, 2012
get the lecturer on video making unethical passes at you and record all his phone calls to you. once you have all that, you will get your project approved and score an A

there is too much technology and social media judiciary in the world for this type of thing to go unpunished
Nairaland GeneralRe: Is The Ig Order Of Banning Road Blocks Working In Your Area? by walcolm(m): 1:59pm On Feb 20, 2012
traveled from lagos to PH yesterday and got to ph by 4pm. ordinarily, that jouney used to be a whole day affair. i saw a few police check points but most of them are currently not bottle necks like they used to be.

i believe the order is being obeyed at the moment because they are still sizing up the guy. you will all know he has started colecting his own bribe once you see the road blocks return
CultureRe: Countries Of The World Ranked By Linguistic Diversity (nigeria @ #5) by walcolm(m): 7:49am On Feb 20, 2012
i think the missing link here could be population

the larger the population, the higher the possibility of two people meeting randomly and having the same mother tongue and that is more pronounced where tribes tend to stay together for safety due to spontaneous tribal clashes that has now become very prevalent

the only places where you really have cosmopolitarianism in nigeria are lagos, port harcourt and a few other commercial cities all numbering less than 5.

you dont have to tweet everything you do. no tweeting at all because you dont want to tweet everything you do is why Nigeria is no3 and not no1

seriously, just tweeting happenings around you that you feel are significant will go a long way
WebmastersRe: Nigeria - 3rd Twitter Nation In Africa by walcolm(m): 12:03pm On Jan 27, 2012
For those who have expressed confusion on how the twitter system works, i think you should all take the time to do the following for at least two weeks
[li]Install twitter on your smartphone if you have one (BB, apple, Android, samsung)
follow businesses and services you are interested in i.e. gtb, nairaland, aero, EPL etc
watch for 2 weeks the tweets that will come to your timeline[/li]
[li][/li]
that will help you view what others are doing with their twitter account and you can use that to learn how to use it.

i personally believe, Nigeria ought to take the no1 spot from SA, #justsaying #patriotism
FamilyRe: Nigerian Dissolution Of Marriage By Family Members by walcolm(m): 8:39am On Dec 23, 2011
sandy_onuh:
Hi

This is an update on my previous post. My Nigerian husbands family forced him to divorce me. Pressure from the family was soo bad, he filed for divorce and was granted it yesterday.
He told me he didn't appear in court for the hearing, but his family members were there. He says he has the divorce decree and that he wants to appeal to a higher court to have the divorce reversed. Can he do this, have it reversed if we both sign a document stating neither of us wanted this divorce. He says he will have to do this secretely from his family also, to keep peace with them, cose he currently lives with family members .
Also, wouldn't he have had to sign the divorce decree himself? This would mean that he would have had to appear in court for the hearing then right?
Please if anyone knows how the divorce court system works in kubwa abuja nigeria, please let me know.

Thanks,
sandy_onuh
the legal system in Nigeria works like any other system in the world. (of course, corruption makes it murky but the basics are the same)

i will advise you contact the US embassy and give them the story. extended family members cannot file a divorce suit on behalf of anyone. my first take is the guy is deceiving you.

i guess you have helped him process his US residency? if you had, you might want to have it revoked

ComputersRe: Processor Speed Or Ram(random Access Memory): Which Determines Speed Of A Pc? by walcolm(m): 4:38pm On Dec 07, 2011
Just for general edification, the possible speed of a PC is determined solely by the PROCESSOR.

if you put a formula 1 engine into a trailer, it can never run like a formula 1 engine inside a formula 1 vehicle body type

all other components make it possible for the processor to attain it maximum potential
ComputersRe: Processor Speed Or Ram(random Access Memory): Which Determines Speed Of A Pc? by walcolm(m): 4:32pm On Dec 07, 2011
Skii:
In Fred Flintstone's language,

RAM basically is how many applications you can run at once

Processor as it implies is how fast it "processes" the application

Video editing, graphic apps and heavy gaming will do well with a high speed processor

RAM would do well for say multiple programs running at the same time like internet here, excel there, itunes playing in the background, downloading on the other hand etc,
in addition to the above, a fast processor is what you look at. irrespective of the amount of RAM available, you can typically expand the RAM by buying more, so if i was you, i'd buy option 1 and buy 2*2GB memory modules in the market and remove the 512MB onboard

Does mobile fusion include the services of blackberry messenger on IOS and Android as earlier rumoured?
its just an enterprise thing, for companies to use in managing their issued devices. it will provide more security for the iOS and androidOS which is much better than the state those two OS are in right now
