What experience do you seek in a job that is limited to age 21-30. The occupant represents the thought process of the age bracket, gets mentoring from experienced board members and prepares for higher responsibility in future.
My dear, please read properly. The job is not limited to age 21 - 30. Read the extract of the constitution again not what someone has rewritten to suit his/her purpose.

After one year she would have learned and gain so much experience. While you're still lamenting her life will just be going on an upward spiral.

I wonder how many meetings someone will attend before she'll come to grasp with how things are run.

I bet you'll be happy if you get a juicy position where you'll technically be spoonfeed from start.

There's no wisdom in this wailing. grin
Honestly, I don't expect you to get it. There are lots of juicy positions she and her advocates could push but not the membership of the board of ICPC.

I believe NNPC is recruiting, why not push her into such organization. Why choose to embarrass ICPC board with this member that has nothing to offer. You can not dispute the fact that she is underqualified for that job.

Don't be surprised that same happen in a sane corporate organization. There is a top energy insurance company in Lagos, where a man with SSCE is a board member cuz he has the money. Same man rarely talks at the board meeting. To shock u more, he will be admitted to the Institute of Directors soon since he paid #500,000 as a member.

His credentials doesn't speak well but he has been favor by the cabal...

Life has no fundamental passage to the top.. Just play your game, if u win fine....

Good luck to the woman.
Does that change the fact that the purpose of board membership and functionalities has been hindered by the poor selection of members on both the ICPC board and the Insurance Corporation board you talked about.

I don't think the challenge people have with her appointment is the youth factor, everyone will appreciate a youth in such position but I think the public are uncomfortable with her Curriculum Vitae and experience that is invaluable for ICPC board membership. What does she have to contribute at the board; it is another case of square pegs in round holes.

This will make it easy for some perverted and dominant members of the board to have their way knowing that she can be manipulated or better still has no say - she is just there for the benefits, remuneration and to do the bidding of those who planted her there.
PoliticsRe: Hannatu Mohammed, ICPC Board Membership Is Line With ICPC Act 2000 by Wallade(m): 11:09am On May 12, 2019
For me, it is an issue of the constitution. Her appointment is obviously in compliance with the constitution but I don't see a significant value she will add to the management of ICPC given her curriculum vitae and experience. I am so sure she will just be an observer and spectator at the board meetings.

In a sane organization, she will still be a graduate or management trainee learning to understand and understudy how things are done at management level but we definitely have a flawed constitution.

Oga accountant...

you started with the do you know... 8% ... 10%... ish .... do you know they fall ill of the law... bla bla bla ish... something a 10 year old knows... lol.. I'm not a manager... neither being arrogant... as I said... I was only playing Devil's advocate as to why they may not have paid.. as an accountant it should be easier to have this discuss with you... especially if you are in the audit line.... hence you should have seen lots of management having to delay payment of pension and sometimes paye as part of working capital management....

Like I said... It is totally wrong.... but they have their reasons and some of those reasons MIGHT have a basis... remember... I'm just playing Devil's advocate.

You advised they discuss with their staff and probably slash their salarieshuh? ... hmmm... think like management at times bruv ... like I said... would you rather lose your top talents?? those you've spent money training? just becuz you have to slash their salaries?? read the tax laws... and please tell me the fine for late payment of pension... then tell me which of the evil as a manager you're willing to take.

PS... I aint arrogant bro... It's actually an intelligent discuss... forgive me If I sounded so.
You will lose them anyway because they will get better offer and move. Staff are primarily benefit, welfare and remuneration driven, once that becomes an issue, productivity is hindered and eventually you will witness exodus.

The best way to go is to honor the contract terms you signed with them as they deliver on their offer of service. If you can't keep up, downsize or shut down temporarily till you fix your liquidity challenges.

I agree lots of companies are culpable. forgive me for playing devil's advocate here... but running a business in Nigeria is not easy bruv... sometimes some rules have to be broken just to keep afloat... talking from experience bro... sometimes somethings just have to be done to ensure your company don't go under.... please... get me well... I am not saying what they are doing is right...
Labor relations and human resources management requires you to strike a balance between the employer's and employees interest.

Your justification is in the interest of the employer but not that of the employees hence, it is not balanced.

That kind of management or employer you wanna be is unfair, selfish and unfriendly to labor. With time, you will engage more daring policies against staff and they will eventually have to confront you through unions, unproductiveness, resignations and/or strikes.

Lol.... have you ever managed a company before?

Have you ever managed a company's cash flow?

When you have done this and overcome the challenges of running a company in Nigeria... then we can discuss more..

I am not saying what they are doing is right... don't quote me wrong... I said as an employee... you might not know ... things may not be rosy with your company at the moment and they try their best to just stay afloat... to ensure they pay you on time... but MAYBE TRULY .. they don't have enough to remit.... it's wrong.. I know.. but what can they do.

We can discuss more when you have more experience in with the above I mentioned.
LMAO. I don't know if I should assume that you are teasing or trying to despise me but whatever the case may be, I take no offence.

Let me inform you that I am an accountant and well experienced at business finance. I don't wanna dwell on my credentials especially because I am not up for an interview or assessment for a job but you over-emphasizing your credentials, which are still to be proven, sounds immature and arrogant to me.

Learn to stop justifying what is wrong with an excuse, irrespective of how tenable it sounds to you. Managers like you accumulate debt and liabilities for the organization till the org. is buried in debt and becomes bankrupt, all in the name of speculations and hopes. Business decisions are expected to be realistic and objective. Stop putting staff to work without a concrete plan to fully remunerate them. If you mismanaged your cash flow and run into liquidity problems, you can take the objective decision to downsize or shut down temporarily rather than enslave the staff with partial payment of their benefits.

If you are tempted to keep the staff on partial payment, communicate the decision, to them, that you intend to the defer the balance of their remuneration till later date and pay with interest. This commitment you must do on paper, sealed and signed; let it be the staff decision to stick with you despite the liquidity mess you created.

Those are fair negotiations not the strategy you are strongly promoting. Your strategy can easily be used against staff and definitely not in the best interest of the staff.

I raise my hand to proffer that I am not aware of any such thing Mr. Aboh may have reportedly said...

Nevertheless, suffice it note (in fact, reiterate) that this action was NOT a witch-hunt of Oceanic Bank (or any particular bank) because this action followed a special examination and stress-testing of ALL of the banks, and it was only consequent thereto that EIGHT banks (not just Oceanic Bank) were recapitalized and the boards and executive management of five banks (against not just Oceanic Bank) were removed and replaced. Accordingly, incendiary (and emotion-ladened) phrases like "weaponized against Oceanic Bank" are simply not borne out by the facts.
>
Mr John Aboh did not make a public statement inferring or expressly stating his position that I indicated earlier; you don't expect him to say that in public, do you, but it is a reliable insider information that I divulged to you, take or leave it.

I emphasized Oceanic Bank's case based on experience and access to information peculiar to Oceanic Bank. I can not speak for other defunct banks because I don't have adequate information.

Let me give you another privileged information - you can not verify this information based on data available in public domain. There is a commercial bank that narrowly missed the list of banks that failed stress test. The MD was unofficially made to retire from the position and board and another condition was for the majority shareholder, in proxy or person, to reduce his/her shareholdings in the bank by selling via private offer to preferred (Apex Bank preferred) investors.

The MD reluctantly and abruptly complied and the bank was cleared as unstressed bank. The bank in question was more into corporate banking unlike Oceanic Bank that was more into retail banking so you can imagine the devastating effect if it was listed as stressed; would not have survived as long as Oceanic did. An MD from that bank eventually became a CBN governor. Note that corporate bank account holders are more sensitive and delicate than retail bank account holders.

Bottom line is that there is more to the information you see on public domain. There are often some undertones and purposes for churning out the information we come across on public domain.

Every action that Cecelia and the management of the defunct Oceanic Bank engaged and were convicted for was practiced by all the banks at that time. Though it is arguable that Oceanic Bank was most guilty but the fate of Oceanic Bank was sealed by the clandestine, political and vindictive plans of some powerful people in Nigeria with Sanusi as the arrow head.

You think the CBN just took the banks and sold them?! SMH undecided

These banks were so indebted that their shareholder funds had effectively been ENTIRELY WIPED OUT! The banks had to be re-capitalized by (1) the CBN injecting billions into them (and effectively becoming their shareholders), (2) the NDIC paying billions to their depositors, and (3) AMCON buying trillions of their bad loans. The banks were NOT sold for a "pittance" but selling them enabled CBN to recoup some public funds.
This is what you were made to believe.

Besides, can you prove allegation (2) in the case of Oceanic Bank?

I remember that John Aboh, Acting MD, that was appointed by CBN to replace Cecelia was shocked at the level of misinformation on the financials of Oceanic Bank. Information was simply weaponized against the bank.

However, Cecelia and the board of directors of Oceanic Bank were guilty of mismanagement, disregard to the shareholders, insider abuse, corruption, graft and poor corporate governance.

She failed to uphold her fiduciary responsibility in the best interest of shareholders hence, guilty as charged.

My issue with Sanusi's approach was his deliberate and calculated tactic to disallow the shareholders, who are the actual owners of the bank, to recapitalise, if need be, change the management and board of directors and re-position the bank for better accountability, improved profitability and corporate governance. He just wanted to assassinate the brand and eliminate that bank.

The truth is that Oceanic Bank was in a delicate situation which was complicated by weaponized information originating from the Apex bank which made it difficult to ignore by stakeholders. Once stakeholders, who own the liabilities and depositors funds that the bank trade upon loose confidence in the bank. Such bank will not survive.

Ordinarily, Oceanic didn't need those bail out funds when it was injected. That bank had strong financial position despite the huge non performing and bad loans. The shareholders had enough resources to recapitalise and restructure the bank and discipline the board, if allowed.

Besides... although this is wrong... some company's do deduct and fail to remit due to cash flow issues... hence they accrue the pension payable for a while and later remit it when they have a healthy enough cash flow... reporting them might put the company into deeper mess... and the young man may loose his job..... it's still wrong though as pension should be remitted on or before the 10th day of the subsequent month aftet salaries was paid...
Oga, a lot of companies are culpable of non remittance of Pension in Nigeria despite deductions. How many of these companies eventually remit the accrued pension when the liquidity challenge is resolved? Do they remit the accrued Pension with interest?

Stop making excuses for such offences. We all know that once they start defaulting, the chances that they will eventually remit the pension becomes slim.

Some company's dont pay salaries not because they don't want to .. but they don't have the cash... business ain't easy bruv...

when company's are faced with cash flow issues... they make decisions... eg.. delaying salaries of staff or probably not paying pension to the PFA...

Sometimes... think like management... you must not always think like an employee... They accrue this pension payable and when they have stabilised the company and have enough cash... all the accrued pension payable will be paid.

I can give you the law bro... report them... the fine is not up to 100k....

P.S... learn to interact intelligently without insults...

You can contact me for more info on how company's are run... and probably about paye and pension laws if you really wanna know more...
Are you justifying the non remittance of Pension after deductions from the staff salary.

Do you realize that Pension consists 8% deducted from staff salary and 10% of salary of staff contributed by the company on monthly basis.

Do you know it is an offence for the company not to remit duely.

Do you know that non remittance on due dates deny the staff interest that should accrue on it over time.

The situation whereby PENCOM does not prosecute the companies does not nullify the offence, the company is liable in court. Read the Pension Act

The best he can do is to front or endorse a candidate and deploy his arsenal in favor of the candidate. He should forget the dream to become President of Nigeria.

There is no christain doctrine that will surport fornication, so having sex is not a catholic thing.
The catholic church is strongly against abortion nd even the use of contraceptive(altho I find d use of any form of contraceptive hypocritical) but abortion is strongly kicked against, catholics also know that we are all humans and fall into temptation of sexual immorality, its adviceable to abstain from sex, if you cant face the consequences that comes with it which is child birth. That is the catholic belief on premarital sex, or adultery, abstain if you cant take full responsibility of the result.
In this case, the lady in question was raped, it wasnt a choice, but still she is accepting the consequences even tho it wasnt her choice
Well, I get your sermon. She can live with the baby then. Her fiance can either walk away or get married to her and keep the baby. Life is about choices.

Why do people fail to learn that literature is not about Prose alone.

The 3 genres of literature are Prose(Novel), Drama(Play), and Poetry.

While Soyinka ticks the box in all, Achebe ticks only the Prose box.

While Soyinka is an acclaimed Playwright and Poet, Achebe is an acclaimed Novelist.

Soyinka won the Nobel for the dual reason of Drama and Poetry, and this much reason was stated in his award justification, as the reason for all other awardees are stated.

So why are people comparing an apple to an orange when the award for best fruit was given to an orange on the basis that for that years consideration, the sweetest orange was the decider?
Can we/you just communicate this opinion to Reno Omokri to educate him and make him understand the need not to conclude on what he doesn't understand.
