IMO, I don't think its a bad idea asking your supervisor if he has funding, only if he has agreed to supervise you. There's a way around it, you don't need to ask him directly, instead, tell him formally that you want to inquire about his research funding, whether readily available or in future. This will ensure you don't go there empty handed thinking funding is available for your proposed research course. Also note that some supervisors don't get full research funding. BTW, you mean your offer letter didn't come with funding letter?

No sir. I got admitted without funding oooo attached to it oooo. But I didnt not ask my supervisor then about available funding or whether to recommend me for grant or fund. well am thinking when I get there we go talk about am.

If you mean you want the money now, just don't bring that up. He will definitely not give you any money, and will make you seem really dubious and spoil your relationship before it even starts. Also, funding is usually payment for a service, teaching assistanship or research assistanship. Why would he pay you before you've started rendering this service?

Thanks but you dont get me right. why will he send me money? for wetin nah? all am saying is that when I ask him to be my supervisor last year before gaining admission, I did not ask him for funding for my research MSC or whether there is funding . I only ask for supervision. That is the reason why am seeking advice if I can actually ask him if he has funding?

I liken you to someone who is getting married by September and had already done introduction in February but his already sleeping with the proposed wife from March. he is going to have this wife till "death do us part oooo". Good afternoon house, I have applied for admission at NBCC awaiting to get admission.but I am.confused the person helping on the process said he will stage my brother as my dad since my dad does not have a SOA that has up to 15m, I have changed my birth certificate in the sense that my brother now stands as my dad and his wife as my mum because most of his documents has his wife name on it also. Please am getting confused as I dont want to be denied a TRV.

pls what of a sponsor who is a family friend with a permanent resident status. Her kids are in primary and secondary school and thats almost like free for citizens and permanent residents. What do you think?

hmmmmm. to my own understanding sir. a PR standing as sponsor for you will put a red flag on your application because from what i heard is that when you have a PR as sponsor, the vo will think you might be influence by him or her not to come back to your home country.
You might want to ask the gurus in the house like @folaroyal, Michv and yemmdogg.

It will go a long way. an Affidavit of fact that all your children are independent and no one is dependent on him or her will solve part of the issue of insufficient funds.

I saw yesterday dat a lot went down here.i just want to state some things I observe in my application dat works and it can help others too.
1. My undergraduate studies was in Production engineering(Industrial and manufacturing), during my nysc....I worked as a physics,maths and basic tech teacher in both private and govt school in ogbomoso,oyo state. after that I got my first job also in a school...Hopebay college in mazamaza lagos as Physics and Basic Technology teacher for like 4months...I processed to a Graduate Teacher Training Prog, for 3month where I was opportuned to start learning Lego Robotics from d scratch..... while on the training, I got a job with LM Ericsson as Front office Engineer...I worked for like 4months doing that job and the teacher training simultaneously until I got a full offer to work in that international school as 1. Design and Technology teacher. 2. Auto-mechanics teacher and as a STEM(science technology engineering and maths) instructors from 2014 till date.
The above statement was used like that in my SOP to explain to the VO how my UG,work experience are related to what am going for in canada. I also emphasise on my SOP my Research interest....not just stating that am going for Msc in Mechanical eng. I told VO on the SOP that my research interest is Advanced Manufacturing and Robotics....mind you all the documents I have relating to robotics and some of my lesson plans on design and tech was also submitted as documents to the embassy. All dis matters a lot when applying for TRV.

2. There was a form I filled during my medicals at consultant pratice that stated you fill your Name,marital status, Job title, email,phone no and signature.....I was told by the doctor maybe mistakenly that they also submit a copy of that form to CIC. now on that form you have to be sincere with the info you filled so that it correlate with what you have filled in the IMM1294E form....am not sure thou jut my opinion.

3. I can't remember anything now but if I recall some tips that I fill really helps I will post. But please my people if your sponsor has dependants and he or she wanna sponsor you to canada....mehn I will say you need to think deep and make sure you do your maths well especially when the sponsor is not father or mother.

TO GOD BE THY GLORY. If you know that God's testimonies will never seize here and in your house hold please wherever you are help me praise the LORD. God did it this morning. I checked my CIC account and my heart was like gheghegheghegheghegh because I saw "A final decision has been made" check below. Gurus and everyone I could not scroll down for like 10min on till I gathered courage and behold I saw......Your application was approved. Check your messages below for details...... I just jump out of the office and hug the first person I saw and I started praising God. God is Awesome my people.

Lesson learnt is that,
1. first timer please endeavor to read past thread even when its lengthy try to read am as if you are jacking a course of 6 credit load. I did and it pays off now that I could seek for my admission and TRV myself with the help of God and The wonderful Gurus in the house.

2. After that please be sincere and have faith in God. Never think negative about your application.
3. Loads of Prayers and Fasting. as for me I fast every Tuesdays and pray with my wife everyday because it was on a Tuesday I submitted my TRV application.....Lol.

God is faithful.
Am really indebted to God and to the Gurus I met here. thanks @MichV, Yemmdogg, folaroyal, TheSoj, Mcowubaba(Even when you abandoned me in the middle of vetting my SOP. you are great Man.), Austinpee4, Nony1(Get ready to accept me as visitor.), Osemigho and the rest people in the house.

It keeps saying no application found...
My medicals was submitted feb 22 by the hospital (based on request by CIC on feb 5 I Went for medicals on feb 12 @ Children's practice Ikoyi)
I have tried to link my application several times via GCkey (even via the several application types options)
Did any1 have this same issue and how did you finally link your application ?
(No new msg from CIC in my e-mail too)

Applied online Feb 18 with upfront medicals and my bio metric was requested for immediately, did my Bio metric on 22nd of Feb, but till now on my application, Review of bio metric information is still showing Not needed at this time but my Application/profile status is in open status.

My question is, is this normal and how long does it take the bio metric to show/update on my online profile.

Pls I sent you a mail concerning my trv refusal. I also attached the refusal letter for you advise.
I was denied because of misrepresentation. They said I did not disclose that USA refused me 2ce and they also said I am a member of an inadmissible class of persons described in Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. As a result you are inadmissible to Canada.
Pls what does this mean?
Can I reapply cos I want to be sure before writing to the school to request for another admission letter.
Other Gurus, pls your advise will really help.

Meanwhile someone was asking if u can work to pay tuition here. Well i will say it's almost impossible and it also depends on hw much ur fees. In uottawa where d fees is abou 8500 per term, doing minimum wage job or slightly more than minimum wage jobs at 20 hrs per wk will barely cover your cost of living per month. That is if you even get get up to 20 hrs. This is the reality. What alot of guyz do here is to go on break during d summer and work full time for about 4 months, dats when u can raise something tangible.

Hi everyone, I stumbled on this forum 2 days ago when I tracked my application and on cic website, it said 'final decision not started' but vfs said my passport was ready for collection. I was confused and scared and started checking online to see if that was normal. Thank God today I collected and my sowp was approved.

2) Select: continue to Gckey
3)Select: Sign up on next page and create your username, password and security questions.
4)After creating my cic account, click link application to this account.
5)Then select category as Temporary residence and subcategory as Study permit and extension.
6)Then select Family name,given name and date of birth option.
7)Fill your family name(surname), given name and date of birth.
cool Next in applicant personal info fill passport information only and DONOT FILL CITY AND COUNTRY OF BIRTH.
9) Fill program start and end date as well as DLI number of the institution (found in offer letter)
10) Your application will be found and can be linked.
11) You can get real time updates on your paper application

just follow the instructions above carefully u will be glad.
