Politics / Re: When Will The Ignorance On Osinbajo End? by Willzkid(m): 12:10am On Oct 24, 2020 |
The truth is that none of the previous Vice presidents was sold as a balancing act during the elections to the degree that PYO was. Most people had the premonition that Buhari was a fundamentalist hence the need for a Christian suave and "liberal" vice president. No previous president ever had the toga of being extremist as PMB did. The fact that PYO decided to fraternize with Buhari swayed a lot of votes in favour of the APC. In short, most Southern people especially from the South West voted PYO not PMB. It is only natural that they are making demands from the person they "voted" for |

Don't listen to the voice of condemnation. I see you're very remorseful. Maybe this should draw you closer to God and his son Jesus. In the bigger picture , your sin was against him not the man in question. I'm sure they have forgiven you and that's what matters |

This is why I'm somewhat in support of Trump's anti illegal immigration stance. Why do we pretend that it is the responsibility of the developed nations to accept illegal immigrants when their leaders like Mr. Buhari couldn't care less about them. The earlier we start holding our leaders to their responsibility, the better for us. Which person like to waka through desert if ground level for Naija? |

Lilimax:Very wrong, the disciples of Jesus learned day and night at the feet of the greatest theologian: Jesus . Theology does not necessarily connote a formal training in a seminary or school but a pastor must be versed in the basic doctrines of Christ, and the Apostles' doctrine. Even Apollos a man of great words had to be tutored by Priscilla and Aquila. Here is what Paul says about this: 2Tim 2:24, 2 Tim 2:15, Titus 2:7. Soundness of Doctrine (theology) is the bane of today's neopentecostalism in Nigeria 1 Like |

While I do not denounce tithing, I am against the compulsion and abuse that goes with it in our contemporary churches. However, I do not think this is the best way to address it. For one, Jesus clearly says in Matthew 6 that when we perform acts of charity we should be discreet about it. Charity is really not for show, and we don't right a wrong with another one 5 Likes |

Brother, riding a donkey was not a sign of affluence. Rather it is a sign of humility and was a fulfilment of biblical prophecy... a sign for the Jews to know their king, which they ignored perhaps due to the simplicity : Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey--riding on a donkey's colt. Zech9:9 Take note of the "yet he is humble riding on a donkey" part. Affluence would be riding on a chariot or horse. |

ideology:I think you're the one bring sentimental here. the use of the so called "tear rubber" donkey was not a sign of opulence in Jesus' day. It was in fulfilment of prophecy, a prophecy that points to his humility as opposed to the affluence you think it is about. Read Zechariah's prophecy (Zech9:9): Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey--riding on a donkey's colt. Do you now see that riding a donkey was a symbol of humility? If Jesus was going to be opulent he would have come in a chariot...Chariots were already used as early as David's day yet he chose a lowly donkey to announce his triumphant entry as a king. Please let's read the Bible with sincerity, and not ascribe to it what our prosperity pastors tell us. |

Luke 9:53 But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. 54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?" 55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them." And they went to another village. 4 Likes |

analice107: Now that I see your stand, I agree totally with you My stance however is based on the fact that there is a seeming lack of accountability among our contemporary men of God. I am not for vilifying them but when they are in the wrong they should be urged in love to step aside for the integrity of the faith and for us to remain blameless in the sight of the world. whoever rejoices in the fall of another is clearly not walking in love for love does not rejoice in iniquity. When writing about people who fell out of faith, Paul always wrote with grief not glee yet he wrote and with manifest love. We both have to agree that a lot of idolization goes on with men of God today. This makes accountability even more difficult. It is even a more difficult position to be in when the lives of others is directly negatively affected by the indiscretion of a man of God, as it was with men of God who denied molesting young boys when they actually did. Think of new converts whose faith are being shaken (I guess that is why Paul had to rebuke Peter, well as you alluded to in the midst of believers). Also, think of the families of those being hurt. If you are a member of such a family, it would definitely hurt you to see that instead of that man of God being disciplined he is even adored the more. You know, one of the reasons why the early Christians made such impact was because of there firm stance on discipline, blamelessness before the world and truth spoken in love. The current church system makes all these more difficult because it seems to be built around single charismatic leaders. I have a lot to say my sister, but as you advised it is better not to do that in a public. I appreciate your discretion and I hope you took time to study Romans 14 again? Have a great day beloved |

analice107:I know your mind is made up on what you believe, but would you mind reading Romans 14 in context. There Paul refers to recent converts from judaism and other religions who were weak in faith, people who still follow some non-essential belief system. I.e. honour certain days, forbid some food e.t.c. In our day those will be people like new Muslim converts who still forbid pork, or a Jew who still spots a large beard. Paul's admonition was not to criticize these people for still holding on to their beliefs as they were not salvafic (i.e relating to salvation). These were the people who Paul said were accountable before God. To the point being made, the Bible is replete with instances of men of God being held accountable. Paul rebuked Peter, he called out Demas, advised Timothy to rebuke defaulting elders (with strong proof though). Let's even go by the analogy of a wounded soldier. The place of wounded soldiers in battles is not in the frontlines, but in the infirmary where they can recover before getting back to battle. In the same light when Pastors stumble they should temporarily be allowed to go through recovery I.e. repentance and restoration. That way the army is not compromised or put in danger, and the integrity of the body of Christ is protected. My dear sister (I assume you are female), do not think I am one to condemn men of God, that is left to God, but we cannot cheer on people when they are known to be in the wrong. We must hold the clergy to account when they do wrong but we must do it in love. Christ commended the Church of Ephesus for holding their clergy accountable (Rev 2:2). Sycomphancy hurts the body of Christ today as it makes men of God above board. And this is just as bad as being judgmental 1 Like 1 Share |
Religion / Re: Pastor Sunday Adelaja Thoughts On Apostle Suleman Sex Allegation (Video) by Willzkid(m): 1:42am On Mar 28, 2017 |
I agree with Pastor Sunday to the extent that men of God are not perfect. However if a man of God sins in a manner that will bring ridicule to the body of Christ, it is demanded in the Bible that he undergoes discipline not with a mind to punish him BUT to restore him. Another reason for Church discipline is to ensure that the church is blameless before the world, being the ground and pillar of truth. As per the lady's assertion that men of God make themselves look perfect, I will want to espouse a scripturally nuanced perspective. God places high demands on the clergy in terms of their comportment. 1Tim 3 gives very stringent requirements for the Clergy. So it is not a matter of them acting perfect. It is a normal response to the high standard required of their office. If the laity is held to high moral standards, then the clergy even more. Now this is not to suggest that Men of God are perfect, but that the scripture demands a high degree of self control from them, and when they fall short they should be able to publicly repent, be disciplined and restored. The only point I may concede to the interviewer is that some men of God actually posture themselves as Idols accepting all sort of titles and accolades when the Bible calls us to a discrete, quiet and humble lives. This tendency to showboat and attract attention is the undoing of many a man of God. However when MOGs fall we must not just sit idly and condemn them. We must first pray for them. We should not also just run to their defence as it fuels their ego making proper restoration difficult. Remember it is not about a man, it is about the Church of God, the bride of Christ, the ground and pillar of truth PS: My comment is purely on the basis of the points raised in the interview. No allusion or judgement is hereby made to the Johnson Suleiman case. 1 Like |

Celebrities / Re: Uti Nwachukwu slams Pastor Mike Winning For Cursing BBNaija by Willzkid(m): 3:31pm On Feb 21, 2017 |
This is my problem with modern Christians who think Jesus was all lovey-dovey. If you study the Bible you will find Jesus reprimanding people, cities, and nations, even calling woes on them for rejecting the obvious truth. Matthew 23:13, Matthew 11:21 I probably would have expressed my concerns or prayers in a different way than this pastor did, but it has to be said that : BBnaija is an immoral show No christian or church goer should be proud to endorse it. It's time we stopped pretending about these issues and using Jesus' name to justify our failings. My brother, if Jesus and Paul were alive today they will be called Pharisees. PS: My point is not to defend the Pastor. I think greater emphasis should have been placed in warning his members. The world will do what the world has to do i.e. immorality. However, the impression among modern Christians that Jesus would not openly rebuke or condemn evil is totally wrong. 3 Likes |
