The truth is that none of the previous Vice presidents was sold as a balancing act during the elections to the degree that PYO was. Most people had the premonition that Buhari was a fundamentalist hence the need for a Christian suave and "liberal" vice president. No previous president ever had the toga of being extremist as PMB did. The fact that PYO decided to fraternize with Buhari swayed a lot of votes in favour of the APC. In short, most Southern people especially from the South West voted PYO not PMB. It is only natural that they are making demands from the person they "voted" for

This is why I'm somewhat in support of Trump's anti illegal immigration stance. Why do we pretend that it is the responsibility of the developed nations to accept illegal immigrants when their leaders like Mr. Buhari couldn't care less about them.
The earlier we start holding our leaders to their responsibility, the better for us. Which person like to waka through desert if ground level for Naija?

Bro, you don't need to know theology before becoming a Pastor?
Most of Jesus' disciples are unlearned men smiley
Very wrong, the disciples of Jesus learned day and night at the feet of the greatest theologian: Jesus .
Theology does not necessarily connote a formal training in a seminary or school but a pastor must be versed in the basic doctrines of Christ, and the Apostles' doctrine. Even Apollos a man of great words had to be tutored by Priscilla and Aquila.
Here is what Paul says about this:
2Tim 2:24, 2 Tim 2:15, Titus 2:7.
Soundness of Doctrine (theology) is the bane of today's neopentecostalism in Nigeria

Brother, riding a donkey was not a sign of affluence. Rather it is a sign of humility and was a fulfilment of biblical prophecy... a sign for the Jews to know their king, which they ignored perhaps due to the simplicity :

Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey--riding on a donkey's colt.
Zech9:9

Take note of the "yet he is humble riding on a donkey" part.
Affluence would be riding on a chariot or horse.

You keep doing one thing: ASSUMING what I have NOT said or what IS NOT in a Bible passage.

I think when that happens it does not make for a right understanding of any particular issue.

Go back all I've written and ask if they line up with Scripture. If so understand them. Then if there are questions the next step would be how can they be resolved.

Like you, I can come up with ALL KINDS of rationalisation. I can argue that the man who goes back was never "in Christ" in the first place. I can ADD other claims but that would be working from my assumed answer to derive my solution. I am not, and wouldn't do that.

The issue always should be 'what is the Scripture saying?' Are there things we can put together line upon line, precept upon precept to arrive at this position ALL THE TIME?

That is why it is better that an issue like we are looking at is not just taken at the surface level but in depth.

For starters let's take this question and look at it:

"If man's HOLINESS or INTEGRITY is required to add to Christ's work on the cross to qualify man for heaven,
1.was Christ's work a PARTIAL work of salvation needing man to FILL UP or COMPLETE?
2. what degree or measure of holiness is required and how do we determine its qualification or the pass Mark as it were?

SERMON
The Father
This represents God and his eternal love and forgiveness for us. No matter your wrong doings he is eternally ready to take you back just if you accept your mistake and seek forgiveness with the aim of not doing it again. The feast represents the great joy in heaven when a sinner retraces his step.

THE PRODIGAL SON
This represents all of us who have come short of the Glory of God. We used our inheritance (gifts, wisdom talents, money, beauty) to seek after worldly things and valour instead of using it to work for the Kingdom of God. If you are still in this category always seek to go back to the Father, never feel you have gone to astray for him to forgive you because no matter your sin he is always ready and happy to do so.

THE PRODIGAL SON'S BROTHER

This represents the righteous people who question God as to why a recent convert should be so favored. Some will say how can this sinner of yesterday be prophesying when I who has been faithful since I was born don't have the gift etc. Always remember that God has a reason for everything, whomever he loves,he loves, whomever he favors he favors, always rejoice with a brethren who is witnessing God's favor. STAY AWAY FROM SPIRITUAL JEALOUSY. It does no good. Use your gift and allow others use theirs.

THE FARMER

This is one person people never discuss in this parable. It represents the world and "fake Christians" in it.The Jews usually have nothing to do with pigs, they don't eat it and don't touch it.Taking care of pigs simply means he sees himself lowest and can no longer address himself as a Jew or a part of God's chosen people. Some people when they meet a brethren who is passing through had times, they introduce them to more sinful ways killing the little love of God they have in their soul, the piggery here could be prostitution, armed robbery, kidnapping, encouraging a student to sleep with a lecturer for higher grades, encouraging a civil servant to accept bribes, telling a Christian to seek ungodly ways to solve issues like barrenness or to get married, telling a fallen brethren to commit abortion in other to remove the child of her sinful ways etc. Unlike the farmer, our duty when we see a fallen Christian is to bring him back to God not take him away.
Thanks for reading this message. May his blessings be on Us all. Kindly comment your own contribution.
Peace be with you.

Jesus requested for tear rubber donkey.

If Jesus was living in our days, he would still use tear rubber rides.

Stop allowing carnal sentiments to blur you from the light, the church of Jesus Christ is ordained to prosper in every area of life.

I think you're the one bring sentimental here. the use of the so called "tear rubber" donkey was not a sign of opulence in Jesus' day. It was in fulfilment of prophecy, a prophecy that points to his humility as opposed to the affluence you think it is about. Read Zechariah's prophecy (Zech9:9):
Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey--riding on a donkey's colt.

Do you now see that riding a donkey was a symbol of humility?

If Jesus was going to be opulent he would have come in a chariot...Chariots were already used as early as David's day yet he chose a lowly donkey to announce his triumphant entry as a king.

Please let's read the Bible with sincerity, and not ascribe to it what our prosperity pastors tell us.

And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?" 55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them." No dear, am not cheering those who are wrong, but my stand is, before you declare them wrong, let them be wrong indeed, not because someone says they are wrong.

Facts are different from the Truth. I wait for the truth, not facts, for facts can be doctored but Truth can not.

Yes Paul rebuked Peter, but was it done in the Amphitheatre of the Ephesians or in the presence of other believers so that other believer will learn?

What will we achieve joining with the Heathens to cast stones on our own? Persecution shd come from the Heathens not the fold. When we turn on each other, who wins? Satan.

My perspective of a wounded Soldier perhaps is different from yours.

My wounded soldier is the one who takes a hit and falls right there in the battle field, but instead of his fellow Comrades pulling him to safety first before analyzing whether he compromised himself or not, but leaves him there to die.

Christians troop to the pastors when Challenged, we offload stuff to them, they counsel us and keep our dirt, but when they slip and fall we organize and call a party, call the enemy who is instrumental to his falling to join us and celebrate his fall.

When you slipped and fell into Adultery, you snuck into his office and cried, when he fell into the same adultery, you call a brass band to sing his downfall. Weldone.

Listen, am not an advocate for sin, but these men of God are first is all men, they are not God of men. The best of every man will still be a man in his very best. Nothing else. They reason we make such fuss about their fall maybe because, we place them far higher than we shd. We may have made them gods instead of fallible men that they are.

They are not gods but men. They are challenged like any of us. Their challenges surpasses ours as a matter of fact. We cry to them, who do they cry to?
They are not different from me, the difference is the office they hold.

The power that saved them is the same that saved me.

Jesus didn't die for them fully and died for me partially.

Salvation is not in measures, it's equal. What they require to make heaven is exactly what i require to make heaven.

Let's pray for them more than we cast them down.

When the stones come, they land on them, hardly on us. "Strike the Shepherd", the weak is the target.

What i see in this whole thing is that, Most Christians or so called Christians are not interested in the souls Christ died for, whether Pope, priest, Pastors and laymen. If we are, we'll consider the effects of our actions or what we say and what that will do to the kids in the fold.

Pastor gets careless and falls, the brethren calls for a party and starts dancing his downfall, WHAT HAPPENS TO THE WEAK? NO ONE CARES.

WHEN YOU STAND WITH YOUR STRONG ARGUMENTS AGAINST THE ONE IN ERROR, BE SURE TO BE RIGHT.

When David fell into Adultery, Prophet Nathan Knew about it, but he never called the council of Prophets to call for the neck of David, he waited until Jehovah 'To whom David sinned against to instruct him before he went to rebuke David.

Is stand with the weak souls, and i think you should too, because we have a common interest, CHRIST.
Happy resurrection. i love you.

Now that I see your stand, I agree totally with you

My stance however is based on the fact that there is a seeming lack of accountability among our contemporary men of God. I am not for vilifying them but when they are in the wrong they should be urged in love to step aside for the integrity of the faith and for us to remain blameless in the sight of the world. whoever rejoices in the fall of another is clearly not walking in love for love does not rejoice in iniquity. When writing about people who fell out of faith, Paul always wrote with grief not glee yet he wrote and with manifest love.
We both have to agree that a lot of idolization goes on with men of God today. This makes accountability even more difficult.
It is even a more difficult position to be in when the lives of others is directly negatively affected by the indiscretion of a man of God, as it was with men of God who denied molesting young boys when they actually did. Think of new converts whose faith are being shaken (I guess that is why Paul had to rebuke Peter, well as you alluded to in the midst of believers). Also, think of the families of those being hurt. If you are a member of such a family, it would definitely hurt you to see that instead of that man of God being disciplined he is even adored the more.
You know, one of the reasons why the early Christians made such impact was because of there firm stance on discipline, blamelessness before the world and truth spoken in love. The current church system makes all these more difficult because it seems to be built around single charismatic leaders.
I have a lot to say my sister, but as you advised it is better not to do that in a public. I appreciate your discretion and I hope you took time to study Romans 14 again?
Have a great day beloved

Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
Romans:14:4

You stand here in judgement against him not knowing his disposition before his Master.

He maybe wrong, but are your actions right now right?

You stand justified to Cast stones, are you sinless in this matter?

Let's consider something for a while.

Do you remember Eli the Priest, and his Two sons? Hophni and Phinehas. The Bible says, they were sons of Beliel, yet Priests in the house of God.

They committed all manner of atrocities in the Temple of God. They desecrated the offerings and sacrifices the Israelites brought to God. They had sex with women right there in the house of God. God watched them do it but said nothing.

The Israelites knew and saw all that, BUT, DID THEY ON THEIR OWN PART STOOD UP TO ELI'S SONS? no, they didn't. did they slander them? no.

Every year the Israelites did their own part by bringing their sacrifices to Shiloh as recommended by their God, and left Hophni and Phinehas to their God.

At the appropriate time, God called them to account.

Listen, when you stand Justified in your own eyes, be careful.

If he is an impostor, you are not stronger than God to bring him down, you don't know better than God.

Slander is a sin, know that. And slander, whether against a godly person or a sinner is still slander and before God is a sin.

Keep yourself pure.

VENGEANCE IS OF THE LORD, HE WILL REPAY.

I know your mind is made up on what you believe, but would you mind reading Romans 14 in context.
There Paul refers to recent converts from judaism and other religions who were weak in faith, people who still follow some non-essential belief system. I.e. honour certain days, forbid some food e.t.c. In our day those will be people like new Muslim converts who still forbid pork, or a Jew who still spots a large beard. Paul's admonition was not to criticize these people for still holding on to their beliefs as they were not salvafic (i.e relating to salvation). These were the people who Paul said were accountable before God.
To the point being made, the Bible is replete with instances of men of God being held accountable. Paul rebuked Peter, he called out Demas, advised Timothy to rebuke defaulting elders (with strong proof though).
Let's even go by the analogy of a wounded soldier. The place of wounded soldiers in battles is not in the frontlines, but in the infirmary where they can recover before getting back to battle. In the same light when Pastors stumble they should temporarily be allowed to go through recovery I.e. repentance and restoration. That way the army is not compromised or put in danger, and the integrity of the body of Christ is protected.
My dear sister (I assume you are female), do not think I am one to condemn men of God, that is left to God, but we cannot cheer on people when they are known to be in the wrong. We must hold the clergy to account when they do wrong but we must do it in love. Christ commended the Church of Ephesus for holding their clergy accountable (Rev 2:2). Sycomphancy hurts the body of Christ today as it makes men of God above board. And this is just as bad as being judgmental

Religion / Re: Pastor Sunday Adelaja Thoughts On Apostle Suleman Sex Allegation (Video) by Willzkid(m): 1:42am On Mar 28, 2017
I agree with Pastor Sunday to the extent that men of God are not perfect. However if a man of God sins in a manner that will bring ridicule to the body of Christ, it is demanded in the Bible that he undergoes discipline not with a mind to punish him BUT to restore him. Another reason for Church discipline is to ensure that the church is blameless before the world, being the ground and pillar of truth. As per the lady's assertion that men of God make themselves look perfect, I will want to espouse a scripturally nuanced perspective. God places high demands on the clergy in terms of their comportment. 1Tim 3 gives very stringent requirements for the Clergy. So it is not a matter of them acting perfect. It is a normal response to the high standard required of their office. If the laity is held to high moral standards, then the clergy even more. Now this is not to suggest that Men of God are perfect, but that the scripture demands a high degree of self control from them, and when they fall short they should be able to publicly repent, be disciplined and restored. The only point I may concede to the interviewer is that some men of God actually posture themselves as Idols accepting all sort of titles and accolades when the Bible calls us to a discrete, quiet and humble lives. This tendency to showboat and attract attention is the undoing of many a man of God. However when MOGs fall we must not just sit idly and condemn them. We must first pray for them. We should not also just run to their defence as it fuels their ego making proper restoration difficult.
Remember it is not about a man, it is about the Church of God, the bride of Christ, the ground and pillar of truth

PS: My comment is purely on the basis of the points raised in the interview. No allusion or judgement is hereby made to the Johnson Suleiman case.

This is my problem with modern Christians who think Jesus was all lovey-dovey.

If you study the Bible you will find Jesus reprimanding people, cities, and nations, even calling woes on them for rejecting the obvious truth.
Matthew 23:13, Matthew 11:21

I probably would have expressed my concerns or prayers in a different way than this pastor did, but it has to be said that :

BBnaija is an immoral show

No christian or church goer should be proud to endorse it.

It's time we stopped pretending about these issues and using Jesus' name to justify our failings.

My brother, if Jesus and Paul were alive today they will be called Pharisees.

PS: My point is not to defend the Pastor. I think greater emphasis should have been placed in warning his members. The world will do what the world has to do i.e. immorality. However, the impression among modern Christians that Jesus would not openly rebuke or condemn evil is totally wrong.
