Kobojunkie:Even though the family structure is eroding gradually due to increased westernization, the strong family bond is still there, especially in regards to relationship with parents. |
Kobojunkie:You mean your parents did not give their blessings to the marriage of their children? Why? I don't want to believe the marriage was done in the same vicinity as their parents. Most times even if the property marriage was conducted overseas, the two families still conduct their own marriage in the absence of one or even both of the marrying couples. |
OvaSabi1:Different cultures. African families are more closely knit that western societies. American see their adult children probably only on special occasions. We on the other hand are never too far away from our parents. |
iamL:I doubt it has to do with sexual abuse of his children, else his mother would not be begging for a reconciliation. It's probably something personal between the both of them. |
Kobojunkie:You said the world over and not Nigeria. In traditional setting. Except your father is late or infirmed, it's a taboo in many cultures for your father not to give his blessings during his children's weddings. |
ogawisdom:It depends on what the father actually did. Some sins are simply unforgivable. My grouse with the guy is not trusting his intended wife enough to tell her why he is so angry at his father. It could be an issue that will affect their marriage. |
OfficialAwol:So how do you expect them to have a traditional or church wedding without the involvement of the father? |
Indispensable85:Dealt mercilessly by wike, how? Have Amaechi contested an election with Wike and lost? |
asthmacoughend:Because the title itself is a political statement. Dan-Amanar Daura means the Trusted Son of Daura. Meaning the person turbaned has been adopted as a son by the people of Daura and by extension north west Nigeria. |
Cryofigbos:The only person that can stand up to Amaechi in your line up is Tinubu. Osinbanjo has no political leg to stand on except on the shoulders of Tinubu. Okorocha is a non entity in APC. Kalu has some weight but cannot be considered a heavy weight. If you understand politics, you will know that APC is made up of two major blocks and two minor blocks. AD and CPC led by Tinubu and Buhari respectively are the two major blocks. While NPDP and APGA(Okorocha faction) led by Amaechi and Okorocha are the two minor faction. Amaechi's NPDP faction with support from Buhari's CPC faction would give Tinubu's AD faction a run for their money. |
Validated:And I had thought he was Fulani from daura. |
focus2727:Amaechi is a seasoned politician, he had never lost an election before. Obasanjo was not a politician and had no grassroot support before he contested the 1999 elections. Amaechi will get the support of the South South because he did well for the South South as transport minister. If he gets Tinubus support he will easily take south west, if he is anointed by Buhari, he will take the North East and North West. |
TooNoisy:For a person that has won State House if Assembly election twice, Governorship election twice and won Nigerian Governors forum chairmanship against a northern candidate supported by the Federal government, this statement is a misnomer. Amaechi will not win one State in the South if he is brought forward. All these titles are compensation on the money he spent on Buhari's election and for building his wasteful "University of Transportation" in Daura.Speak for yourself. Many in the South South will vote for Amaechi including Rivers State where he had win every election he contested for. |
manchinkids:E go do you like cinema (or Netflix). |
phineas:Why are you more concerned about justice for the Dowen boys instead of overall justice? What about justice for Sylvester and justice for the family? What about justice for the society as a whole? In a normal society, an accusation should be enough for the police to invite the accused for questioning. My grouse with the Nigerian police is when the lock a suspect up for more than the 24hrs constitutionally allowed period and the annoying fact that the police arrests suspects before fishing for evidence. Most of the time by forcing the suspect to write a confessional statement. MDCN in her regulatory role is the best person's to step into this case cos it's clear to all the first pathologist that was a quack had a strong role to play in the wrong detention of juveniles for something as grevious as a murder charge. How did that even happen.Only a coroner's autopsy should have been allowed for the purpose of their detention but I guess Lagos was afraid of public opinionThis goes beyond MDCN. There is the issue of bullying, then there is the issue of murder/manslaughter. MDCN can only regulate professional conduct of doctors. It cannot determine bullying or even murder/manslaughter. I'll try and explain for non medical person's here. You can not say there was signs of aspiration poisoning from things in his stomach due to something swallowed if you did not check in lay men's terms ( the food pipe)Signs of poisoning might have all disappeared 7 days after injestion of poisonous substance. The bodies excretion system most probably would have eliminated The poisonous substance from the system save microscopic traces. This particular poisoning is suspected to contain biological agents. So how do you determine the primary source of the septicemia that invaded all the vital body organs within 7 days? The first thing it does. Is burn the oesophagus in a chemical poisoning before it affects the tougher overprotected stomach. Many times and in most of the cases the oesophagus( food pipe )is severely affected but not the stomach. So imagine an autopsy that concludes the findings in the stomach is from swallowing without looking at the affect on the oesophagus? Not all chemical poisons are corrosive. In fact most lethal chemical poisons are not corrosive at all. A few drops can kill you within a matter of hours. Then Biological poisons are not corrosive at all. His autopsy was also not recorded? Why? No pictures at the least? If there are he needs to explain himself clearly to a panel. This pathologist and the first Dr that saw this student where lax in their business very lax. That's a general issue with the sorry state of professionalism in Nigeria. Incompetence is rife in all professions in Nigeria - civil engineering, medicine, accounting, etc. It had far reaching consequences. And the fact that those Drs are still clinging to self survival at the cost of the future of these little kids who always have to explain in future that they had been tried sometime in the past for a murder case is evil. Some of the kids were not even there on said day (3 out of 5)That's why I am routing for the case to go to court where every witness would be examined and cross examined, ie class mates, Hall mates, house master, school nurse and doctor, and other parents and students who has had similar experience can be summoned to testify. |
tuboi:He never had any underlying health problems. His body was laced with deadly bacteria that infected all vital organs of his body. |
phineas:You are still aggressively defending the school. Are you a member of the Dowen College Board? Now tell me what would Dowen College have done if the patents did not show up or send someone? Would they just watch a student die and then blame the parents for not coming? Look life is sacrosanct and the first impulse in all situations is to save life. They called the father, the father said he would send someone. Citing minor football injury. No one showed up for 2 days. They then called again, this time in panic, before his father sent his brother to pick him up. By the time the brother got to the school he was shocked at the state of Sylvester. He immediately called Sylvester's father back and said this looks more serious than mere football injury. This is the point that the father should have ordered that they take the boy to the nearest hospital. But no, he took him home. And this began the series of blunders that led to his eventual death. If Dowen College had taken the boy to the hospital (with the fathers consent of couse) and he died, how would the college be accused of using him for ritual? Even if it's without the fathers consent due to the emergency, and he died, would there not be doctors report snd coroner inquest. Religion and superstition is really destroying the fabric of African societies. |
Eketem:As I have said many times, the Orominyi family has a huge part of the blame in sylvesters death and their handling of the issue would make it almost impossible for any court to find Dowen College or the accused boys guilt of murder or even manslaughter. Having said that, Dowen College has civil (not criminal) liabily for the death of Sylvester. They were negligent on many fronts and don't seen to have a good monitoring system for their boarding facilities. What I am after is for us all to learn a lesson from this and improve our schooling system. Many parents including myself are afraid to send our children to boarding school. I was making arrangements to send my 13 year old to a boarding school next session, my wife and I have reconsidered that idea, because of the horrible stories we have been hearing. |
Eketem:I don't know about the school policy we operate, but I know that most elite schools are attached to hospitals for which the patents pay for, and they are taken to those hospitals in terms of emergency. Are you telling us that if a Sickle Cell patient have a crisis, they would have to wait for the patents to arrive before taking the child to a hospital? |
seborrhic:A coroner inquest is to find out the cause of death and nothing more. It's a court that can find who is responsible or not for the death. |
Eketem:I now suspect you are a paid hack for Dowen College or one of the accused boys. You attack everyone that make any comment against Dowen or any of the accused. The teacher cannot go and testify as a witness for the family because the matter is not yet in court. If The matter gets to court then the teacher can be summoned as a prosecution witness for the family. |
Eketem:Where did you get the lie that the family conducted an autopsy? The autopsy was conducted by the Nigerian police and their lawyer had to write the Nigerian police to obtain a copy. The case has not gone to court as the Lagos State coroner is carrying out an inquest. The inquest is still on going. Why are you guys pushing out so many lies aggressively, do you have a stake in this case? |
Please read the quote you posted 2 or 3 times so you can comprehend. This is just external examination and reasons were given for the various marks on the body. Eketem:Vertical marks on the chin - post mortem injury. Circular injury on the right ankle - a recent injury. Circular injury around the ankle means skin abrasion caused by hand. Reddening on the lower part of the two legs - embalming fluid did not get to that part of his body. The family was negligent and looking for a scape goat they consistently pushed false news including the fake autopsy report from Delta which they refused to tender and even objected to it being referencedI agree the family was negligent, but the school was also negligent. They should have taken Sylvester to a proper hospital when they saw his health deteriorating fast, instead of panicking and waiting for the parents to show up to pick the kid. If The parents were unavoidably unavailable, will they just watch the kid die. They were just too desperate to get rid of the kid, so he won't die in their custody. They were not the one that carried out the "False" autopsy report. The autopsy in Warri was carried out by the Nigerian police. They were only given a copy of the report, which the released publicly. |
Eketem:The family has no reason to push falsehood. They are acting on what they actually believe based on what they saw and heard from Sylvester and based on previous experience. People cannot be held indefinitely when there is no charge against them. When they say you should read and learn you will not agree.Agreed. But this only applies to the powerful and mighty. Ordinary poor citizens are held in police custody indefinitely or until they pay "bail". The Government is in alignment with the investigation and autopsy findings so they are in trial by the family who brought the InquestWhich government. The government looks compromised. They exonerated all accused and reopened the school even before the coroner inquest had been concluded. What led to the wound has been stated, ankle injury from falling while playing ball.Non of the autopsy report showed any ankle injury or bone injury. |
From just reading the report of the Lagos State Pathologist, I can conclude that Sylvester Oromoniyi died from biological intoxication and not chemical intoxication. Here are the proof from the report; The cross-examination also dwelled on the cause of death with the pathologist insisting that the late Sylvester, died of Septicaemia. The Septicaemia must have entered the bloodstream through the oesophagus and stomach. This must have been from the liquid he was alleged to have been forced to drink. This was probably why the infection affected all the vital organs so fast. Dr. Soyemi said, “This could have been treated. What could have been used in treating was massive dose of antibiotics, intravenous fluid and blood transfusion.”Evidence the school and parents were treating the wrong diagnosis. If they had started treating the boy for acute and aggressive bacterial infection (Septicaemia), Sylvester would certainly have survived. Mr Falana asked, “can massaging of the body and an injury lead to infection?”Instead the school and parents were treating for orthopedic injuries. They were massaging the body of Sylvester and giving pain relievers. A few others showed vertical marks on the chin (post mortem injury), “a recent external circular injury on the right ankle,” reddening on the lower part of the two legs (this shows that the embalming fluid did not get to that part of his body), the white brain shows that there is not enough blood in the body.Further evidence there was no evidence of bone injury. All the ankle abrasions were as a result of aggressive massaging. My conclusion Sylvester was beaten and bullied, but the physical beatings did not kill him. It was the liquid he was forced to drink. Now since our we don't have labs in Nigeria that can carry out a complete toxicology examination and the body and all organs had been tampered with coupled with cover ups from all those involved, it will be impossible to prove Sylvester Oromoniyi was murdered. Biological intoxication is much more difficult to prove that chemical intoxication. You have to determine exactly how the biological agents were introduced into the bloodstream. |
seunayantokun:So in effect you are saying that a British, German or US man married to a Nigerian lady and wants his family to settle in Nigeria does not deserve Nigerian citizenship? Meanwhile you are alright with the reverse case whereby a woman married to a Nigerian man is allowed citizenship? Is that not discriminatory against women? It seems some tribes in Nigeria are against granting women any sort of right. |
anochuko01:I don't agree with you. All miscreants that want to come to Nigeria from neighbouring countries are already here. There are hardly any restrictions stopping people from crossing the borders. The borders are as porous as a basket filled with water. The move will only allow medium or higher skilled foreigners to become citizens. Only people with money dey marry wife, and our women no dey date broke men, not to talk of broke foreigners. |
Benrosaria:But black man dey contest for election for America and Britain. Abi America and Britain is not free yet? |
NimrodEndOfDays:What I meant to say is "was not fully functional." It took primary produce out of the ports but imported goods were not passing the ports. |
NimrodEndOfDays:Why and when did igbos become traders - pre colonialization, pre - independence or after the biafra war? Igbos have been migrating, particularly up north before independence and even before amalgamation. What were igbos trading in the early 1900 that made many of them migrate up north? Igbos region is not conducive for trading. Yes a region is conducive for trading if you are a link or thouroughfare between manufacturers and the market. For example Middle East was/is a link between China (producer) and Europe (market). Same with ancient Venice. Igboland has no advantage whatsoever in trading within west Africa. Even during the slave trade, Calabar, Badagry, Cape coast were the slave trading ports. I hate it when you guys compare yourselves to the Jews or other people. The histories are very different. The Jews were driven from their land twice. First under Babylon and second under Romans in AD70. They came back after Hitler killed over 6 million of then with the sympathy of the winners of the war. Do you think there would have been an Israel or even jew if Hitler had won the war? The Jews had been under every major super power the world has ever had - Babylon, Egypt, Persia, Rome, British. The Lebanese were involved in a bitter civil war that saw mass migration to other parts of the world. How many Chinese are in Nigeria compared to the general population? How many Chinese want to migrate to Nigeria. I am sure there are more igbos in China than chinese in the whole of Nigeria. Yes Africa has more than 50 countries, but how many are ready to accommodate igbos - Ghana, Cameroon, South Africa, Morocco. Igbos generally don't get along with their host communities for one reason or the other. I doubt many countries would be ready to take in mass migration of igbos, particularly if all they intend doing is trade. I am not excusing Fulanis. I am only pointing out that Fulanis are nomads and they follow water and grazing routes of their cows and the markets. While getting the inland port at Onitsha operational is a very good economic plan, making it happen is very complicated and costly. Firstly, It was not built to accommodate container ships, it was built by the British to move primary produce to the sea, by steam boats. Those boats were nowhere big as container ships of today. To make the river accommodate container ship would require extensive dredging to expand the depth and width of the river. To do that you guys have to negotiate with your brother - the Ijaws. Abacha attempted to dredge the river to Onitsha but was stopped by the Ijaws. |
NimrodEndOfDays:The boy has written so many fallacies, false equivances and and conjectures that one doesn't know where to start educating him on realities. He just like his IPOB counterparts are reasons and act with emotions rather intellect. |
NimrodEndOfDays:False narrative. The ports were not functional before the biafran war. My village is 20 minutes away by boat to koko and Sapele port is not far away. The ports were not built by the British by economic considerations. They were built to export Timber from the area. Since the fall of the timber trade, the Sapele port has not been operational. The governor's are always looking for excuses for their failures. No doubt the FG makes things difficult, but an innovative and selfless governor would achieve some degree of success. |
