CSTRR: Though to be fair, Asian investors are terrible in staff welfare and general decency.
They are mostly poverty striken anyway, so they can't give what they don't have in their countries.
The best investments are still from Western Europe and America. Western Europe and America would not invest in a corrupt ridden country like Nigeria anymore, they are even trying to dinivest the their remaining assets. Siemens and Haliburton has taught them a lesson. Only Chinese, Lebanese and Indians are ready to give bribes and compromise. All these are input into production costs and salaries. |

Simran94: Even at that… Have you ever asked yourself why this same Indians and other Asian citizens come into Nigeria to invest? Obviously because Nigeria has natural resources that the FG keep misusing, they come to make use of it while employing Nigerians and still maltreating them in their own land, they know that foreigners are being treated way better than the citizens itself and that would be of great gain for them in so many ways, one of it being keep employing Nigerian workers, push them to work and maltreat them because their Government doesn’t care. I went to immigration at Ikoyi to do my passport, we were so many on the queue at around 8am, when it was around 8:30am, some Chinese guys came to join the crowd and that was how one of the immigration men went to them and asked them what they wanted to do, then he took them inside. People just started shouting. So them coming isn’t even beneficial to citizens of this country. This is why CCECC and other companies they have in Nigeria treat their Nigerian workers as slaves, pay little salary to their workers, maltreat them right here in this same Nigeria because FG doesn’t care as long as they pay their taxes. So why won’t they come? Were you not on twitter the other day when one Chinese restaurant was called out for maltreating their Nigerian workers? It was after that call out they did an investigation and found out it was true, the restaurant was closed for good. They obviously cannot close CCECC because that is actually the leading construction company in Nigeria, so the mistreatment continues.
Can this happen in any other sane country and the company won’t be sued? Can’t you see what Chad and Niger people that are already citizens in Nigeria are doing? These are the same people that have turned into Boko Haram and bandits inflicting the owners of the land and yet you want more of them to keep coming.
If you think foreigners coming to Nigeria to invest are doing it for your sake, then sorry for you because they would walk all over you to get what they want and nothing would be done about it. In one line you say "them coming isn’t even beneficial to citizens of this country" and the very next line you say they pay little salary to their workers. Are you saying the little salary they pay (and taxes) is not beneficial to the country? The problem is both your government and fellow Nigerians. When Nigerians in these Chinese companies decides to fight for higher salaries, it's their Nigerians senior management staff and the government that always sabotage their efforts. I have seen it here in Ikorodu where it's fellow Nigerian senior management staff that advice Chinese company owners not to increase salary of junior workers. |

Simran94: Lol, like the people who come into Nigeria and walk all over Nigerians to have their gains? Or the same people who get kidnapped every day and sometimes killed by Boko haram and bandits? Or were you not here when the Chinese and other countries wrote a memorandum to their citizens in Nigeria when the insecurity was getting worse and their people were getting killed, that they should prepare themselves to leave the country? Or was it not during the same Covid-19 period that countries started taking their citizens out of Nigeria because they knew Nigeria could not take care of its own citizens talk less other citizens during the pandemic? And who do you blame for foreigners coming come into Nigeria and walking all over Nigerians? Do Nigerians including the government treat fellow Nigerians any better? |

CSTRR: There is no benefit to you, understandably, but that citizenship is gold to Indians, Chinese, Lebanese businesses in the country.
If your husband ever wants to invest in Nigeria, it would be gold to him too.
Have you ever worked in an Asian company in Nigeria? When Immigration visits, that is when you will see commotion with Asians running up and down to hide.
Many can't even leave the complex for fear of being picked up. Come to Ikorodu here. When immigration visits these Chinese companies in Ikorodu, you will see commotion. Chinese workers running up and down to hide any where - locker rooms, toilets and even freezers. |

Alusiizizi: I guess this development will be considered good news to men from Benin republic, Malawi, Togo and other desperately poor countries and since we know that Nigerian women mostly gravitate to financially capable men(which is not a bad thing, as long as the relationship is not a parasitic one) only acts of pure love would render this otherwise useless amendment valuable to anyone on this planet. While the US, Britain, Canada and Australia poach the best of our minds for their national development, we too could poach Benin republic, Malawi and Togo for the best of their own minds too, that is if we are really interested in physical development and not forever depending on rent economy. |

Fly into Nigeria like today and the next day pick a girl around ikoyi registry , get married and jet out of Nigeria. Next time come and set up construction, mining, logistics etc companies with low or no tax as a Nigerian citizen. Isn't this a good thing? Is this not a good way to obtain the foreign direct investments we are clamouring for? Will this not create hundreds or even millions of employment for our teeming youths? Who knows, maybe we will get an Elon musk to come and invest in Nigeria. |

Babalegba: Lol, I'm an egba man from Abeokuta. There is no need to balkanize the country, restructuring is the way to go instead of pursuing all this violent agitations that leads to a dead end. Anyway i lived in Britain for more than twenty years and on getting back to Nigeria,I found Nigerians extremely dishonest, perfidious, selfish, superstitious, lacking self control, arrogant empty and scurrilous,in fact they lack nation building qualities. As far as I'm concerned a Nigerian graduate is equivalent to a Briton with a G.C.S.E certificate. That has been my experience Abeg helep me ask them, before the British amalgamated the igbo clans, were they a nation or a region? Why not ask to bulkanize to pre colonial times. The same people forcing Ikwerre and Anioma to join them are advocating for everyone to go their own way. Is that not a paradox? Dismemberment in these times would be a tragedy. It would make the smaller and weaker states easy pickings for the major powers (including Iran and Saudi Arabia) as is happening in Ukraine right now. It would set us back 200 years. What we should be advocating for is a restructuring to make the region's more economically autonomous. |

NimrodEndOfDays: And later boast about how glorious Lagos is. If not for the loop sided nature of Nigeria why would one state be the only one with a sea port when states in the Niger Delta are close to the sea? The reason why the North especially was amalgamated with the south was just to slow the progress of the south. Simple. Because I don't understand why a region would have held on to power the most but are the most useless. Lagos was created before the creation of Nigeria. Lagos was given special status by the colonialists and was even removed and governed separately from western Nigeria. Lagos ports was and still is, the easiest port to access directly from the sea. You don't need to navigate any inland river to access Lagos ports. You need to dredge and constantly maintain the dredging to make the inland ports navigatable. Yes I believe the government should develop the other ports of the Niger Delta and indeed our Olu made that demand when he visited Buhari last week, but the problem with our governments is that they are all lazy. They are not ready to spend the effort and money to make the other ports navigatable. |

NimrodEndOfDays: first of all, Adamawa State is more diverse than both the UK and India combined. The SS,SE,SW can never ever make progress with the 1999 constitution that was created by the NORTH to continue to hold everyone down and take us backwards. Before the coup, these regions made tremendous progress. So I don't know how you see or view your own things. Imagine having to build and airport and then giving it to the FG how stupid is that? You cannot build and manage a port, you cannot create your own electricity, you cannot even manage your resources. Some of you people who support this dead contraption are unbelievable. And I have this feeling you are from the North or SW. But North is what my guts is telling me. Any time I discuss with a friend from the North this is how they speak. Can't you people think of being alone and having your own country? Quit that "can't you people think of being alone" nonsense. The only people that can't think of being alone is you people. You people just can't stay alone in your villages, you must live among other people in order to survive. How many Yorubas, Itsekiris, Ijaws, Binis do you find in Sokoto, Daura, Adamawa, or even Enugu, Abia or Ebonyi? Yes the Fulanis are all over Nigeria selling cows and riding Okada, but they are no where near the number of igbos all over every hamlet in Nigeria. So who do you think would lose should the country break up and everyone is asked to return to his village? Just because you guys are terrible political strategists and lost politically, you want to cut the baby in half, not minding that the baby and even you might not survive the dismemberment. Take a cue from what is happening in Ukraine right now and what happened to all former Soviet Republic countries that split from Russia. The problem with Nigeria is the same problem in each of our individual families - Greed, selfishness and inability to compromise. Until we learn to be selfless and patriotic, we can never have peace and development even if we divide the country into our individual clans. |

If you're running for office then you become liable for any law breaking by some of your supporters any day you hold a campaign rally, when you were not part of the planning or actioning of such act? If you're caught robbing a bank you tell the judge that it was your wife's taunting for cash that made you do it? Election contesting/disputing is not insurrection or coupmaking. Inspiring your supporters to disrupt a constitutional election process of ratifying elections already ratified at district level, state level (both by executive and legislative) and national level is not contesting/disputing an election, it's an insurrection/coup. Pence is no saint if it were within his powers he would have done it. I don't know why he took him this long to slightly rebuke his old boss who sent a mob to hang him.
I am wondering what if the insurrectionist had their way and hung Mike Pence as they were chanting on January 6th would Donald Trump still be a free man today holding rallies, would the republiQan party still be sucking up to the former guy and worshipping him while rebuking Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney, would they have the guts to call it a "legitimate political discourse" in a nutshell would they have had shame to rebuke Trump, Gaetz, Taylor Greene, Boebarts, the Cawthorn's and other crazy radicals in their party? I want to know because the current republiQan party is a disgrace The insurrection planners were aware that Pence could not be hanged. With the number of secret service officers guarding Pence, there would have been a blood bath before pence was harmed. They just wanted to disrupt the proceedings. |

He was not asked to overturn the elections. He was only required to acknowledge the fake alternate electors and refer the matter back to the states, with the excuse that the states presented 2 sets of electors. All Trump wanted was for Pence not to ratify the elections on January 6th. If pence did not ratify the election that day, then the US would have been in a constitutional crisis. Trump just wanted to create chaos to prevent Biden from being ratified. |

Just disclose so that you wont be in a position to appraise the other person and cause a conflict of interest I see no reason why a person in Sales cannot have a consensual relation with someone in Engineering People spend a significant part of their lives at work and thats where they make connections To me it's wrong having a sexual relationship with a staff in the same office. If it's the same company but different offices, it's still acceptable. But in the same office space or even building is unethical. Sexual relationships brings along with it lots of emotional baggage and complications. There is no way it will not affect performance and the way other staff relate to the two lovers. Reasons employers demand disclosure is so that one partner can be moved into another department or office to avoid distractions. |

Rather they glorify the pastor or church and the ritualist ends up in a bad way with devastating consequences. Where are you people getting all these your jargons from. Hollywood humanize witches, vampires etc, which should even be give a worse outcome.
It is the Yoruba movies that glorify juju and ritual killing. People should start dealing with things specifically and stop blaming the wrong people.
Again, these ritual killings have been a part of you people for a long time. Hollywood doesn't glamorise witches and vampires. They don't present them as means of obtaining riches. Most of the time they are used in the setting of an ancient or fantasy world, which you cannot relate with in today's world. It is usually a reminder of when Europe or America was in the dark ages where superstition ruled people's minds. Nollywood presents witches as being still relevant and beneficial in today's world. |
