You are still aggressively defending the school. Are you a member of the Dowen College Board? Now tell me what would Dowen College have done if the patents did not show up or send someone? Would they just watch a student die and then blame the parents for not coming? Look life is sacrosanct and the first impulse in all situations is to save life.

They called the father, the father said he would send someone. Citing minor football injury. No one showed up for 2 days. They then called again, this time in panic, before his father sent his brother to pick him up. By the time the brother got to the school he was shocked at the state of Sylvester. He immediately called Sylvester's father back and said this looks more serious than mere football injury. This is the point that the father should have ordered that they take the boy to the nearest hospital. But no, he took him home. And this began the series of blunders that led to his eventual death.

If Dowen College had taken the boy to the hospital (with the fathers consent of couse) and he died, how would the college be accused of using him for ritual? Even if it's without the fathers consent due to the emergency, and he died, would there not be doctors report snd coroner inquest.

Religion and superstition is really destroying the fabric of African societies.

From the family witness and their family doctor testimony the Oromoni family didn't believe in hospital they preferred church and they didn't mention giving consent to the school and the school failed to use it

As I have said many times, the Orominyi family has a huge part of the blame in sylvesters death and their handling of the issue would make it almost impossible for any court to find Dowen College or the accused boys guilt of murder or even manslaughter.

Having said that, Dowen College has civil (not criminal) liabily for the death of Sylvester. They were negligent on many fronts and don't seen to have a good monitoring system for their boarding facilities.

What I am after is for us all to learn a lesson from this and improve our schooling system. Many parents including myself are afraid to send our children to boarding school. I was making arrangements to send my 13 year old to a boarding school next session, my wife and I have reconsidered that idea, because of the horrible stories we have been hearing.

I don't know about the school policy we operate, but I know that most elite schools are attached to hospitals for which the patents pay for, and they are taken to those hospitals in terms of emergency.

A coroner inquest is to find out the cause of death and nothing more. It's a court that can find who is responsible or not for the death.

Where did you get the lie that the family conducted an autopsy? The autopsy was conducted by the Nigerian police and their lawyer had to write the Nigerian police to obtain a copy.

The case has not gone to court as the Lagos State coroner is carrying out an inquest. The inquest is still on going.

Circular injury on the right ankle - a recent injury. Circular injury around the ankle means skin abrasion caused by hand.

They should have taken Sylvester to a proper hospital when they saw his health deteriorating fast, instead of panicking and waiting for the parents to show up to pick the kid. If The parents were unavoidably unavailable, will they just watch the kid die. They were just too desperate to get rid of the kid, so he won't die in their custody.

They were not the one that carried out the "False" autopsy report. The autopsy in Warri was carried out by the Nigerian police. They were only given a copy of the report, which the released publicly.

Non of the autopsy report showed any ankle injury or bone injury.

From just reading the report of the Lagos State Pathologist, I can conclude that Sylvester Oromoniyi died from biological intoxication and not chemical intoxication.
Here are the proof from the report;

The cross-examination also dwelled on the cause of death with the pathologist insisting that the late Sylvester, died of Septicaemia.

Septicaemia is when bacteria enters the bloodstream, and causes blood poisoning which triggers sepsis

While being led in evidence by the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP Lagos, Dr. Jide Martins, the pathologist testified on his findings during the autopsy. He said the findings indicated a generalised infection of the body.

“It was an infection of the lungs, the deceased also had an infection of the liver, the kidneys, infection of the right arm, the soft tissue of the muscles covering the bone below the ankle. The summary of these is that he had generalised infection.”

The Septicaemia must have entered the bloodstream through the oesophagus and stomach. This must have been from the liquid he was alleged to have been forced to drink. This was probably why the infection affected all the vital organs so fast.

Dr. Soyemi said, “This could have been treated. What could have been used in treating was massive dose of antibiotics, intravenous fluid and blood transfusion.”

He added that based on his finding, the illness could have been properly managed if the boy was taken for proper treatment. It was not a terminal case at all, the doctor stated.

The doctor however noted that the medical condition could lead to death if not properly treated, adding that the “mortality rate is high.”

Evidence the school and parents were treating the wrong diagnosis. If they had started treating the boy for acute and aggressive bacterial infection (Septicaemia), Sylvester would certainly have survived.

Mr Falana asked, “can massaging of the body and an injury lead to infection?”

The doctor replied no.

The senior lawyer again asked, “If there’s an injury and it has been massaged repeatedly, can it lead to the removal of the skin or part of the skin?”

The doctor replied in the affirmative.

The senior advocate asked, “Are you aware that the ankle injury of the deceased was subjected to massaging in the sickbay of Dowen College on the 21st, 22nd & 23rd?

Dr. Soyemi said, “Not aware.”

Instead the school and parents were treating for orthopedic injuries. They were massaging the body of Sylvester and giving pain relievers.

Further evidence there was no evidence of bone injury. All the ankle abrasions were as a result of aggressive massaging.

My conclusion
Sylvester was beaten and bullied, but the physical beatings did not kill him. It was the liquid he was forced to drink. Now since our we don't have labs in Nigeria that can carry out a complete toxicology examination and the body and all organs had been tampered with coupled with cover ups from all those involved, it will be impossible to prove Sylvester Oromoniyi was murdered. Biological intoxication is much more difficult to prove that chemical intoxication. You have to determine exactly how the biological agents were introduced into the bloodstream.

To make the river accommodate container ship would require extensive dredging to expand the depth and width of the river. To do that you guys have to negotiate with your brother - the Ijaws. False narrative. The ports were not functional before the biafran war. My village is 20 minutes away by boat to koko and Sapele port is not far away. The ports were not built by the British by economic considerations. They were built to export Timber from the area. Since the fall of the timber trade, the Sapele port has not been operational.

Lagos was created before the creation of Nigeria. Lagos was given special status by the colonialists and was even removed and governed separately from western Nigeria. Lagos ports was and still is, the easiest port to access directly from the sea. You don't need to navigate any inland river to access Lagos ports. You need to dredge and constantly maintain the dredging to make the inland ports navigatable.
Yes I believe the government should develop the other ports of the Niger Delta and indeed our Olu made that demand when he visited Buhari last week, but the problem with our governments is that they are all lazy. They are not ready to spend the effort and money to make the other ports navigatable.

Law breakers are responsible for their law breaking and nobody was "inspired" by anybody to disrupt anything.

Election contesting/disputing is not insurrection or coupmaking.

Inspiring your supporters to disrupt a constitutional election process of ratifying elections already ratified at district level, state level (both by executive and legislative) and national level is not contesting/disputing an election, it's an insurrection/coup. Contesting/disputing is done at the courts and not with jungle justice. Else we all close the courts and resort to jungle justice.
