Chinese are new to the game of interference in US elections, they are still learning from the Russians. Even the Iranians are studying the Russian model. Since the US is not taking counter measures to defends not only their elections but foreign orchestrated conflicts, future US elections is going to become increasingly problematic.

I wish people can read the details of Russian activities in election interference and causing social divisions outlined in the Mueller Report, instead of concentrating only on "collusion". It gave some important information that a serious government can use to block those loopholes and threaten Russia with consequences if it persists, but we know the Trump administration can never oppose Putin.

The IRA organized rallies via catfishing.

One of the most unsettling things in Thursday’s report are the details about how successful Russia-controlled social media accounts became at actually organizing political rallies. First, they would use spoofed accounts on Facebook or Twitter to announce an event. Then they’d privately message the event to real users, asking them if they could attend. Then if they got a bite, they’d assign one of these real people to be the event coordinator. Usually, the Russian troll would make up some excuse as to why they couldn’t personally attend, according to the report.

The users messaged privately about the events were usually recruited for their social media popularity. “The IRA recruited U.S. persons from across the political spectrum,” the report reads. “Initially, recruitment focused on US persons who could amplify the content posted by the IRA.”

This is the second reported instance of Russian trolls successfully communicating with American activists to organize events, suggesting offline efforts that, while smaller in scale, are not insignificant. “Getting someone to physically show up somewhere is huge,” Sarah Oates, a political communications professor, told the Journal. “That is a level of political commitment that is a whole degree stronger than getting someone to comment.”

What Russia need to make is to exaggerate and exasperate the reactions; through regular and social media propaganda. The philosophy of BLM does not promote terrorism, if terrorists take advantage of protests by BLM, to commit crime, that's for the security authorities to iron out, just like all other protests in the past. The protests in France and indeed Europe are usually worse. The French riots lasted months with far more destruction of lives and properties. The French authorities did not look for scape goat. They dealt with the issues. Same with the poll tax protests under Thatcher. Even in Nigeria, as despotic as the regimes had been, they government sometimes use violence to crackdown on riots and protests such as fuel and IMF riots under IBB. I remember some years ago, a woman came to complain the same thing on Facebook about her 16 or 19 year old son. That his manhood refused to develop and she's been taking him from place to place.
