bemeruca:We are not talking of a hypothetical case. In a hypothetical scenario, anything can happen. A nuclear bomb can be dropped and wipe out England or UK tomorrow. We are discussing reality on the ground right now. |
bemeruca:Trying to make Trump look bad? Trump does not look bad, he prides himself in being bad. He "grabs em by the pusay", he is liable for raping Eugene Carrol, he is being accused of by 2 dozen women of rape/sexual molestation , he bleeped a IndecentStar raw just a few weeks after his wife gave birth, he had a one year affair with Karen Mcdougal, a playboy model, less than one year after getting married to Melania. |
sonofsteven:Because he is the organizer of the Invictus Games, a kind of Olympics for injured soldiers around the world. The games have become very popular in the 10 years since Prince Harry has been organising the games. He is considering hosting the next edition in Nigeria. |
bemeruca:He is first an foremost a prince by virtue of being a son of the ruling monarch of England. Secondly, he is the Duke of Sussex a title conferred upon him by Queen Elizabeth II. He had not be stripped of that title. I was just reading on Quora that even the King does not have the powers to strip him off that title. So even if he choose not to be a working royal, he is still treated as a Prince and the Duke of Sussex anywhere he travels to in the world. |
bemeruca:Same thing I was saying, Titles can be stripped, but with or without a title, the son of the king/queen is a prince. |
bemeruca:Yes, technically he can still be king. He is fifth in line to the throne. If anything should happen to king Charles, Prince William and his three children, he becomes automatically next in line unless of course he chooses to abdicate the throne then his sone Prince Archie becomes next in line. Yes his title of Prince of Sussex can be stripped, but his title of Prince cannot be stripped. He was called Prince Harry the day he was born even before he was given prince of Sussex by Queen Elizabeth. |
Ubanz:As Prince Harry said, we all have our own mental health issues, it's just that some choose to display it here and on social media. It's not about poor mental health, it's more about colonial mentality. We have been completely subsumed by our colonial master in terms of culture, language, religion and way of life. So you can blame us for admiring them. |
bemeruca:Display some maturity and quit spewing insults on mundane issues. He did not become a prince, he was born a prince. He had been called a prince since the day he was born. He could be conferred with any other title the king chooses, but that cannot strip him of his princeship. |
DonroxyII:He never left the British royals, he is a British royal by birth and not by appointment. He only stepped back from royal duties. He can decide to start royal duties in future. He is still a British royal as his father is the king. |
ceejay80s:What do you meanby "he is no longer a prince"? Can a real Prince be "de-princed". |
Christlike01:Says someone that left his village in Ogun state or Ekiti and started claiming Lagos. For your info, I am not Igbo. I am from delta state bit closely related to Yoruba. You guys from Ekiti villages are so obsessed with igbo. |
Lanrelagboi: Lanrelagboi:From the pictures you posted, the job looks scanty and substandard. Why not show details pictures of the classrooms including furniture. From the pictures posted, it seems the whole school is a block consisting of 2 or 3 classroom blocks. Is this all the Lagos State Government can show for its N20 billion monthly IGR? |
ElevationD:That's how democracy is supposed to work, you have the government and you have the opposition party that scrutinises and criticises government policies. Without an opposition party, its no longer democracy. Wike's PDP has become a faction of APC, so only Peter Obi's Labour Party can provide any meaningful opposition. |
I have been searching online for this so called CYBERCRIMES (PROHIBITION, PREVENTION, ETC) ACT that permits Ribabu to order CBN and the banks to start collecting cybersecurity levy. I was only able to find the 2015 act, but the circular from CBN made reference to the CYBERCRIMES (PROHIBITION, PREVENTION, ETC) ACT, 2024. I was not aware that a new cybercrime act was passed by the national assembly and assented by the president this year. When was the act passed? Here is the link to the 2015 act - https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.nfiu.gov.ng/images/Downloads/downloads/cybercrime.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwi589_-4f2FAxVIQ0EAHU-WDgwQFnoECAQQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3YfiHSl8fhfMM1iMjwPwn9 In it I found nothing in reference to a cybersecurity levy, not to talk of it being paid to the office of the national security adviser. I am pleading with Tinubu's media people here to furnish us with the updated act so we can confirm things for ourselves. Nigeria is still a democracy and not a dictatorship, everything action of government must be backed by law. |
WantsandMore:This is what you get when the people have been beaten to submission. The people have become so week and docile that the governments both federal and state can get away with anything. The government don't even need laws to govern anymore, they can just be spewing directives like decrees. The tolerance level of the Nigerian is truly infinitely elastic. Why is Tinubu taxing only digital transactions, he should go the whole hog and tax all transactions- both digital and physical, or is Ribabu telling us physical movement of cash is more secure than digital ones? Physical cash too needs to be secure to avoid theft from bank officials and armed robbers. We should be paying physical security levy also to the banks to enable them secure the movement of cash between the banks and between the banks and CBN. |

ijebosb: With republican values. |
budaatum:That's exactly what Trump wants. He is trying to push the judge to jail him, so he can continue his narrative of persecution and claim political prisoner. He will also claim street credibility among blacks and further claim to be comparable to Martin Luther King. |
RenaissanceGuy:The US is late to the party. It was Xi Jinping's idea to periodically organize China - Africa summit, where China can do business with Africa as a whole. Putin followed suit by to get a slice of the action by organising a Russia -Africa summit. Biden is coming in late in the day, after all the spoils must have been shared. I wonder what the US can now offer Africa outside Democracy, aids and LGBTQ. |
bemeruca:The polls were all over the place depending on when and where it was conducted, and who conducted the polls. That is the same situation now. Then you guys were so sure that Trump would win because of large turn out at rallies and Biden choosing to do more of online campaigns. You guys even labelled Biden as hiding in his basement. Some of you guys boasted here that Biden can never win Trump. You touted the very same propaganda you have started pushing again - Burisma, hair sniffing, child molestation, dementia, old age, border invasion, and lots of other rubbish. At the end Trump will lose, you guys will scream rigged elections once again. The difference is that if you guys attempt to stop the certification of results using violence instead of legal means, many more MAGA lives will lost. |
sanpipita:Trump's strategy goes beyond boosting enthusiasm, he and right wing media are prepping their base not to accept any result unless Trump won. This same strategy is used to undermine the credibility of all US institutions - all government agencies, particularly the security agencies, the media. Even the judiciary, any judgement against Trump is corrupt, but judgements in his favour is fair. Any polls that shows Biden ahead is faulty or manipulated, but those that shows him ahead in indicative of his popularity and assurance of winning the elections. |
bemeruca:My error, I meant to say 2020. I was very busy and somehow distracted while writing that post that I made an error. You should have noticed that I was referring to Biden throughout and never mentioned Hillary Clinton. |
Obrigardo:This is the same MAGA strategy they employed in They are just laying the ground work for another attempted coup. |
gidgiddy:You have been desperately trying to convince others that it was your arch enemy Gowon that abolish regionalism in Nigeria and not your hero Ironsi. You have not even been able to convince yourself talk much less of others. Read the opening paragraph of General Ironsi's decree 34 (very slowly so that the brains will have enough time to decipher its meaning). Decree 34 of 1966 opening paragraph - Subject to the provisions of this Decree, Nigeria shall on 24th May 1966 (in this decree referred to as ‘the appointed day’) cease to be a Federation and shall accordingly as from that day be a Republic, by the name of the Republic of Nigeria, consisting of the whole of the territory which immediately before that day was comprised in the Federation. The main difference between a Federation and a simple republic is in the autonomy of the constituent parts. A republic is a country belonging to the people, whereas a federation is a form of government where by regional divisions are not branches of the central government. Thus, a federal republic has power divisions and regional governments fall under the power domain of the national government. I honestly don't understand how someone will be arguing about something that's written in black and white with no ambiguity. |
KayyDee:QED. You have said everything that needs to be said. The road is for the Benefit of Lagos State, first and then the south west. It will never and I say never get to the Niger Deltas. |
DeLaRue:How do you think a ban on Crypto can work? Is there a legal framework that can prevent ordinary Nigerians from buying/selling, trading and receiving payments in crypto? Make it illegal and a strict liability offence for banks and other financial institutions. You will require a law passed by the national assembly for that. Afterall, we are supposed to be in a democracy and not an autocracy. A government cannot just wake up one morning and ban this and ban that. I wait a bill to that effect, I will be among the people that will campaign against such bill. Any bank found hosting any customer account dealing in crypto currency is liable to prosecution leading to a big fine upon conviction. As a strict liability offence, it would be irrelevant whether or not the bank was aware an account was being used for crypto.Once again, under what laws will such prosecutions take place, that is even if banks are aware of transactions involving cryptos? There is no way banks can separate transactions involving cryptos from any other millions of transactions that take place daily. In this digital age, transactions are digitally carried out for most things, from paying for pizza to paying fuel, how do you intend the banks isolate crypto transactions? The crypto thing is mostly delusional hot air.$20 Billion worth of Bitcoin are traded daily. that's just bitcoin. There are dozens of other cryptocurrencies. USDT trading volume is over $75 billion daily. These are a lot for delusional hot air. To the poster who says he receives crypto for services he renders. Fair enough, but you are unfortunately in the minority. Most crypto activities are about trading and moving stolen public funds out of the country. These are the people being targeted by the CBN.How do you know that, what data do you have that shows crypto ryp payments for services (and goods) are in the minority and moving stolen money out of the country are in the majority? Are you now insinuating that the hundreds of billions stolen out of Nigeria by politicians was done through cryptos? The government has a legitimate right to protect the interest of the country whether or not some agree. No one is arguing with that, but how has the government been protecting the interest of Nigerians? It seems the government is only interested in protecting the interests of the rich and powerful and abandon the interest of the masses, particularly the youth. This government is anti-youth, with the way they are harassing young men and women up and down with the flimsiest excuse. In Nigeria any youthful exuberance can land you in jail or at worst get you killed, eg wearing tattoo, funky hairstyles, uncommon clothes, etc. Imagine a cross dresser was sent to 6 months imprisonment without the option of a fine for spraying naira. |
MRMRMR:We have enough roads in Nigeria, the problem is the state of our roads. If the Ibadan - Ilorin road is fixed, Lagos to Ilorin would be about 3 hours, Lagos to Abuja would be about 9 hours. I remember in the 80s when the road was still motorable, I drove from Lagos to Ilorin in 3 hours. Most roads in the east are not motorable, the East - West road is horrible. Ditto for sea ports. Nigeria has enough sea ports, the problem is the same with roads, they have been left in a state of disrepair. Upgrade of all the ports will have a massive boost on the economy nationwide. What the government needs to invest heavily on is Rails and power, and also education. Rails is what can make the transportation of goods and peoples safer, cheaper and faster. Before the US started their industrialization drive, they embarked of the Rail road project that connected the whole of the US. Power of course is what is needed to drive development. Then the other most critical factor to development is manpower which is education. Most countries in the top tier in the world's today have invested massively in education. They give free of very cheap quality education to their citizens, Most time up to secondary school level, sometimes even to university level. Here we are investing very little in education and mass producing illiterates that can add very little to the development of the country. |
So much ignorance in on post. There are two types of Niger Delta - Geographical and political Niger delta. In elementary Geography, a delta is an area of low, flat land shaped like a triangle, where a river splits and spreads out into several branches before entering the sea. Niger Delta simply means the delta of the river Niger, just like the Nile delta is the delta that form from the river nile. The geographical Niger delta is just 3 states - some part of Delta, the whole of Bayelsa and some part of Rivers. The political delta is a bit fluid and changes according to different administrations. It often includes oil producing states. Why some igbos are so obsessed with the term Niger Delta is beyond me. |
nairalanda1:Another false narrative. It's because of lack of adequate planning and corruption. How much is the market price of an electricity produced from gas (LPG/CNG) by a country touted with one of the largest gas reserves in the world, but choose to flare most of it? What is the market price for electricity for a country with so many rivers including the Dongo River on the mambilla plateau that can single handedly generate 3000MW of electricity? |
The Federal Government says Nigeria’s electricity generation has risen to 4,800 megawatts up from around 3500 in March. The problem is not generation, its transmission. Afterall, they say Nigeria has an installed/generation capacity of 12,000MW. The problem is our over centralised transmission lines can never handle more than 5,000MW before you start hearing system collapse. It's a shame that in the 21st century, a single fault on our transmission line would plunge the whole nation into total darkness for days. So unless we decentralised our transmission lines, we would never meet our power requirements |
TOPMAN4LIFE:False. You are no different from IPOB - Ethnic jingoist. I am from the Niger delta and the proposed Coastal road is to pass through my village. I and many other Niger Deltans would prefer the completion of the East West road, we have suffered untold hardship on that road for decades. This is a project thar can be completed within the lifetime of this administration. How long do you think it would take to complete a 800km mega coastal highway that is to pass through beaches, swamps, mangroves and numerous rivers. Ordinary adding 2 lanes to the 70km lekki Epe expressway has taken close to two decades, and is still not finished. The 800km Lagos Calabar coastal road would take at least a century. |
Sheuns:Abeg, also add this statement for enlightenment. I honestly don't understand what he is talking about here. “I’m very happy that the President has directed me to begin the design of one of the spurs linking to this coastal route, and that is the Sokoto-Badagry, which was conceived by the President Shagari administration. How can the coastal road that starts from Epe be one of the spurs linking the proposed Sokoto - Badagry expressway, which is expected to start in Badagry? A road conceived in the 70s even before the thought of a coastal road. You sure say Umehi no dey smoke loud? |
