bezimo:Malachi was not referring to ordinary people, it was warning, advice and admonitions for Priests . The priests were teaching the people false doctrines and eating the tithes paid by the people, so God was warning them to desist from such acts or face the consequences. Here is Malachi 2:1 2:1 And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you .Another confirmation that the messages are for priests; Malachi 2:4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you , that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.See here that the priests were preaching wrong doctrines; Malachi 2:7 For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. The bolded sound familiar? Nigerian pastors have become emergency Levis. See the priests were robbing the temple and the nation by chopping tithes; Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. And they were preaching wrong and wicked doctrines; Malachi 3:13 Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee? |
Statsocial:You people talk so much thrash. What do you mean by Covenant is registered as owned by WMA not Oyedepo hence cannot make up Oyedepo wealth? Who are the owners of WMD? It is like saying because Google is registered under Alphabet Inc., the value of Google cannot make up Larry Page and Sergey Brin's wealth. So if Oyedepo does not earn money from his book, He does not earn money from his universities, He does not earn money from tithes, How is he able to afford to buy 4 jets and maintain them? |
Dabiridamilare:And how do you know that no one has stopped paying tithes as a result of recent controversies on tithes? Do you expect everyone to go on radio or TV or even social media and announce " I have stopped paying tithes"? The debate would certainly make some people to think deeper into the salvation by tithe doctrine being promoted by Nigerian pastors. No body can force you from giving your money to anyone you wish, but promoting tithes as a way to salvation and the way to wealth and success is antithetical to societal development. It will create mass poverty and despondency. The only way to socio economic development is education, hard work and good value system. |
kamez:And store house was never a church. A store house is where food is stored. Malachi was instructing the priests to bring the tithes (of food and other agricultural produce) into the store in order to feed the levis, the widows, the poor and the nation. |
donbrowser:If you using your degree to push wheelbarrow, then the degree and the education you received is not worth the paper it is written on. A degree and education in general should make you proficient in your field of study. A graduate that sees value in wheel barrow pushing should not be the same as a mallam pushing wheel barrow. A graduate should have the skills to make wheel barrow differently, maybe a motorized and remote controlled wheel barrow, some can even conceive flying drone like wheel barrows. I have a friend that went into carpentry after graduating with an M.SC degree i architecture. The Father was furious, saying he did not spend all that money on him to become a carpenter, but today, the guy has the biggest furniture factory in Nigeria. He is worth billions. You guys have to quit the idea of obtaining a degree in order to seek for white collar jobs, there are no white collar or even blue collar jobs out there, you have use your education to create jobs for yourself and others. |
Greyman11:A true believer of which God? Please explain to us which God Einstein believed in. |
mastermaestro:Not everyone on nairaland spend their productive hours praying for miracle riches, lots of us actually work hard and run very successful companies. If everyone turn his ancestral land to places of worship, who will grow the food you eat or produce the goods and services you need? |
mastermaestro:And that is why Nigeria with all its tithe payers remain one of the poorest countries in the world in terms of income per capital and their pastors remainso the richest in the world. With all the tithes you guys have been paying for decades, one would think the country’s financial blessings would be greater than Israel who do not pay tithes anymore. So converting ancestral lands to churches instead of farms or factories would make us rich and prosperous? |
Emusan:And your own best answer is "God did it". |
Although I supported Buhari against Jonathan, mainly because of his tolerance and promotion of corruption and Boko haram holding Nigeria's territory, this statement is a lie; So, multiply 2.1 million by $100, that is what Nigeria was getting from 1999 to 2014Nigeria did not get anything close to $100 from 1999 to 2014. During OBJ's regime oil never went above $40 per barrel. In 1999 when he came in crude was hovering around $20. Even when crude rose to $100, Nigeria did not earn anything close to $100. Remember you will have have to deduct cost of production which is around $25 per barrel, then the balance will have to be shared between the FG and the IOCs in a ratio of 60:40. From crude price of $100, the FG would only receive about half of the amount. It is impractical to expect the FG to pocket the whole $100 for sale of crude. |
I think you might have wasted your money. Getting paper qualification nowadays count for little in Nigeria and indeed for the rest of the world. Enterprenuership is the new world order and the acquisition of skills and capital is the only key to open opportunities. When people like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Evan Spiegel (snapchat guy) dropped out of university to become enterprenuers, you are wasting money to acquire a PhD in order to become an employee ( probably to a person less certificated than you). If the Phd was to acquire a skill that would make you an enterprenuer, it would have been logical, but getting a PhD and displaying it from office to office in search of a job is not very wise. There are lots of PhD holders applying for jobs as truck driver at Dangote. Any body with some skill, motivation and entrepreneurship spirit can invest N4.8 million in IT, service, agricultural and even small scale manufacturing sector and turn the money around within 2 years. Now, with your PhD, except you are lucky to get employed in the oil sector, the telecoms sector or maybe you get a political appointment, it will take many years to recover your N4.8 million. Let me use zimbabwe as an example of the folly on relying on paper qualification to achieve success in career. Zimbabwe has one of the highest literacy levels in Africa, some put it at over 90%, compared with nigeria at 50%. Zimbabwe has an excruciating graduat unemployment problem. The universities are churning out thousands of graduates yearly with no hope of employment. Graduates held a protest last year to highlight the extent of the problem. According to statistics from Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, approximately 30,000 students graduate annually from the country’s institutions of higher learning. Officially, the country’s unemployment rate is 10.7 %. In truth, however, some 80 % of the adult population of this country of 13 million people has no formal employment.

The story get as be... You worked for 6 months without receiving a dime; You had no money to change clothes; You trekked from your office in festac to your Church around mile 2 because you had no money; But .... You paid 4.8million Naira for a master's degree by yourself. How was it possible. |
You Igbo people have started again, you are always dragging SS along with your political shenanigans. You desperately tried dragging SS into your Biafra fiasco, you tried dragging SS into your anti Buhari - anti Fulani campaign, all that failed. You are now trying to drag the same SS into your love affair with Atiku. It is a failed project ab-initio. Vote are presonance issues, you cannot impose your choice on another person, much less another region. If that is the way it works in the SE, it does not work that way in other parts of the country, especially the SS. Those that will vote Atiku will vote Atiku and those that likes another candidate will vote another candidate. You do not expect everybody in a region to vote one candidate. Later you people will complain of being branded 5%. |
porka:How did Atiki know that Buhari could not enter the US if he wanted to? Does he have proof that Buhari applied for entry visa into the US and was denied? I think the US embassy need to clear this controversy. |
luvinhubby:The EFCC did not confiscate the whole building or multiple flats, it seized the flat that Mrs and Mrs Oke bought with proceeds of crime. The person that should be challenging the forfeiture should be Mr and Mrs Oke. The Bank can complain if the sale of the flat was not completed and Mrs oke had not fully paid for the flat. Does the Bank want to collected the flat back after it has sold the property? While arguing the application for the flat’s forfeiture, EFCC’s lawyer said Mrs Oke made cash payment of $1,658,000 in tranches of $700,000, $650,000 and $353,700, for the flat’s purchase between August 25 and September 3, 2015.If the bank wants the flat back, they should simply return the $1,658,000 it received from Mrs oke to the EFCC. |
Laveda:Most people here have no idea of what constitutes rape. Rape is penetration of the genital or anus without the consent of the victim, while touching of other sensitive areas without consent, but without penetration constitutes sex abuse or molestation. You example of withdrawing consent after consenting to penetration would not hold in any court in the world. One you give consent to penetration by a Dick, a tongue or a finger, you cannot claim you changed your mind and then allege rape. It is even more absurd to claim that you can withdraw consent in the middle of actual sex, maybe just before the guy reaches climax. If the guy holds you down forcefully to erupt under that circumstance, that can never constitute legal rape. Men are not robots to be switched on and off at random, men are animals complete with all the animalistic instincts and behaviours. If a woman does not want any sexual relation with a man then do not taunt, blackmail and humiliate him. |
BlowBack:You people rewrite history to suit your lies and dogma. Christianity was almost as bad as Islam in the slave trade. Darwins evolutionary theory that was published in 1859 was responsible for slavery of black Africans that started in 1619 and abolished in 1833. Now clap for yourself, you are an excellent defender of the faith. Please also explain how Darwin's evolutionary theory was responsible for exodus Exodus 21:20-21 Exodus 21:20-21And exodus20:7-9 Exodus 7-9Throughout the slavery period no Christian pope, Bishop or priest condemned slavery, they collaborated with the slave merchants in the slave trade. |
efficiencie:I would like to join your conversation with hiddenshadow and observant. I agree with you that selfishness, self aggrandisement and greed is the bane of the black man and the Igbos exhibit the worst examples of these traits. The igbos look for who to blame for their failures and blame everybody else and everything else but themselves. If the igbos possess inate greatness in them as propagated by hiddenshadow and observant, why didn't the igbos make great civilizations in the past? Why didn't the igbos make technological, artistic social or literary contributions to the world before the advent of the Europeans? Biafra would have been a political disaster. why? Because no Igbo man is ready to subsume his interest for another. Ojukwu would never have sacrificed his political ambitions for any other, he would have been the mugabe of Biafra. Same with the present agitations for Biafra, it was all about Kanu, and Kanu would never sacrifice his political ambitions for the Biafrans goal. If Biafra has potential to be great, we would have seen evidence of that from the way the present Biafra (Igbo states) are run, from state levels to local government levels. The Igbo states and local governments exhibit the same levels of greed, self interest and wickedness as other states. The total money the five Igbo states receive from the federal government ( both state and local government allocations ) is enough to run a country successfully. I am sure many countrystudents like Gabon, Benin Republic, Togo, Chad, etc do not receive the kinds of money these state receive and yet they are able to run the countries and build infrastructures. Only a bad workman quarrels with his tools, the Igbo states governors can make use of the Nigerian laws to build critical infrastructures. Nothing stops the governments from applying for licences and investing in the mineral and oil resources sector either alone or with foreign partners if they are interested. Nothing stops the state governments from building bridges and roads and tolling it to recuperate their investments. Nothing stops the state governments from building refineries, power stations or any other critical infrastructure if there are ready to selfishnessly work for the betterment of their people. |
Ikechuob:You just went on google, typed Ebola vaccine and posted links without even bothering to read them. The last link is even not working. Albeit, there have not been a vaccine named for both. There have succesfull tested vaccines trial in communities where Ebola was rapid. Your shithole country was one of them. That's why your shithole country was the "first "country" to "overcome" ebola."Here you go again spewing rubbish. Ebola vaccine trials that started in Liberia in February 2015; Trials in Liberia started in February 2015.And an Ebola Vaccine Study Center that was launched in Nigeria ( not trials) in may 2015; Kingsley Omonobi — Nigeria and United State of America (USA) military yesterday commenced collaboration in medical research on a test study of the Ebola vaccine in Abuja. - http://allafrica.com/stories/201505011087.htmlwas responsible for overcoming the Ebola epidemic in my "shithole" country that started in July 2014 and was eradicated by October 2014; The Ebola virus was introduced into Nigeria on 20 July 2014 when an infected Liberian man arrived by aeroplane into Lagos, Africa's most populous city. The man, who died in hospital 5 days later, set off a chain of transmission that infected a total of 19 people, of whom 7 died. You really need to learn to read and understand googled links before posting them Likewise, for Lassa fever, is treated with antiviral drug named ribavirin and individuals feared to obtain the virus are occasionally given the said drug as a preventive mechanism so far, it's been effective, just does not cure it.You just repeated what I have been saying all along - that there are no cures for viral diseases, there is only management. |
Ikechuob:I honestly can't make out what you wrote especially the bolded quote, but you seem to be insinuating that vaccination exists for Ebola and lassa fever. This is bullshit. You even went further to say individuals were vaccinated and the vaccination confered immunity against ebola and lassa fever. Are you sure you are not on some hallucination drug. |
Ikechuob:Viruses eventually die out naturally, especially one that kills the host too fast or the host develops resistance to the virus or learn to live with the virus. HIV, hepatitis virus and similar viruses are able to survive longer by making sure the host survive for a very long time giving the host time to spread the virus. Viruses like Ebola, Lassa fever and other fast killing virus do not last long. They kill large population of people ( if not well contained) and simply burn out, same as the bubonic plague that wiped out one third the population of Europe. |
trolley:I would not have bothered arguing with you if not that I feel obligated to stop spreading ignorance, especially among the youths. I say again there are no cure for any pox or other viral diseases. Even common influenza virus (common cold) has no known cure. The body eventually eliminate the virus from the body. The keyword in virus management is treatment treatment does not equate to cure. HIV can be treated, it cannot be cured. Read this; Treatment for Smallpox |
trolley:Please stop advertising your ignorance, viral diseases have no cure, it either kills you, your body natural defences fights it off or you live with it in a latent form for the rest of your life. Vaccination is used as a preventive measure and not a cure. Vaccination is simply the priming of the body with dead or deactivated pieces of the virus so the body can learn to fight the real virus if it enters the body. There is no vaccination for monkey pox, but the small pox vaccination is speculated to help prevent monkey pox since the viruses are similar. |
Depends on culture and tradition. We black Africans are not into kissing and view kissing only in relationship to sex and romance, but Europeans see kissing as a form of greeting or an expression of affection. Kissing on both cheeks is courtesy when greeting and kissing on the fore head is like saying goodnight or goodbye. Some patents kiss their children on the forehead before they go to bed. |
Excuzeme:I have like very few posts on nairaland, and this post deserves more than 100 likes. The latest fad now is rape or sex abuse You flirt with a lady, maybe just holding her waist or ass while taking a picture, with wide smiles and giggles. 20 years later probably after you become famous, she comes out to to allege rape or sex abuse. As you said rape has been weaponized, women can now have sex with men and thereafter be blackmailed with treats of rape or sexual abuse. Guys, you are now required to ask for permission or is it consent before you fvck, kiss or romance your girlfriend or even your wife, else you will be accused of rape. You need to ask " babe, can I fvck you" can I kiss you" or " can I hold your waist". If she does not answer yes up to three times, and maybe record the yes consent on audio as proof, you might spend time behind bars. |
LadyGoddiva:I also do not believe the comment I am reading from you, this is an insult to real rape victims. There is nothing like rape in the story as narrated Consent as related to sex is not only a verbal. yes, in most sexual encounters a verbal consent is not usually given or expected. Consent is usually a series of long drawn out process or ritual. Sometimes a verbal no could actually mean consent. I have had lots of experiences in my hey days and it took me a long time to decipher the difference between real consent and no consent at all. I remember one of such horrible experience where a lady came all the way from Badagry to spend the night with me. That time I was still living in my parents house. After going to the beach in the afternoon and eatery in the evening, I took her to a lodge in a guest house for the night. She showered and slipped into her night gown and I into my boxers. One would have thought that I have all the consent in the world, but alas, she refused me to even touch her. I tried begging her, she refuse. I then decided to use force. After one hour of gidigbo (wrestling), she allowed me kiss her, press and suck her breast, but she would not let me touch her pussycat. It took a further 2 hours to be able to forcefully reach the pussycat. By that time I was physically and mentally exhausted, so much so that my longjohn went to sleep. Nothing I did after that woke Mr. longjohn. She did handjob, blow.job and every other job, Mr longjohn refused to wake. O boy, that was how I slept off. When I woke up early next morning, had to check out and discharge her as I had to go home and prepare for work. Later, this same stupid girl would go on and tell my cousin (who introduced us) us that I am okobo (meaning my longjohn does not work). I got so annoyed that I never spoke to her again. I have had 2 similar experiences similar to this one. The ladies say that if they open their legs at my first asking, I would view them as cheap. So much for consent. Back to this story. The lady in question agreed to spend the night in the guy's house, she came with her sleeping cloths, she took a shower, she slept on the same bed with the guy, she continued sleeping on the same bed after the guy made the first attempt, the allowed the guy penetrate her pussycat with his tongue, and then finally penetrate with his longjohn. All the while she did not scream or shout for help and there was no report of violence or threat. Then you are here screaming rape or consent. |
Sunnymatey:Lame excuse The same pained north voted for Jonathan 5 years before, maybe they forgot Jonathan was a born slave from minority ST zone. |
Evablizin:Compare you own life and work with that of Buhari and then tell me with one is a failure. |
Letslive:You people should take a deep breath and let it go, there was little Jonathan could have done to stop Buhari from contesting and winning the election. The forces against Jonathan both nationally and internationally was formidable. |
CaptainJeffry:Ask Goodluck Jonathan for making the suggestion. |
Beress:There was no way Buhari would have been prosecuted for certificate forgery, without a backlash from his supporters and the military. Some former top military officers were already warning Jonathan to stop disgracing their retired senior officers. Buhari could not have been prosecuted for certificate forgery because the certificate or should I say statement of result did not originate from him but from Katsina secondary school and the Katsina state government, if anyone is to be charged for certificate forgery, it would be those 2 bodies. The statements of result issued by the school could not have been as a basis for disqualifying Buhari because until the court declares it fake, it remains authentic. A judgement disqualifying Buhari would be like the june 12 midnight judgment, it would further erode the integrity of the judiciary and lead the country into another round of crisis. Remember I BBC said he annulled the June 12 elections to save us from the judiciary. |
