You are not objective at all. You are supporting Jonathan's impunity but condemning buhari's. Jonathan used the army to prevent APC governors from attending a rally on a Thursday before an election and you are asking what they were going to do. Was that the only election rally the governors have attended prior to a governorship election? You are even trying to justify the illegality by saying IG closed the border from Thursday to sunday. You mean no one could pass through ekiti for 4 days.

What is wrong is wrong. A police IG has no power to lock down a state when there is a sitting governor.

the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar has placed an order restricting movements within the boundaries of Ekiti State with effect from 6pm on Thursday (yesterday) June 19, 2014 to 6am of Sunday June 22, 2014.
Can you please state the relevant sections of the constitution that empowers the IG to place restrictions on movements within the boundaries of a state.
In that case Solomon Arase can place restrictions within the boundaries of Fayose's residence, preventing him from leaving his house. I hope you guys will not start screaming "buhari is a dictator then"

Impunity whether under GEJ or under PMB is impunity and all right thinking persons must oppose it through legal and other non-violent means.
Its Fayose being restricted today; if everyone keeps quiet, it could be you tommorrow (circumstances can change overnight, ask Diya the number 2 man under Abacha) or it could progress to unlawful detentions of the opposition.
I agree that impunity under whatever guise should be condemned, but why were you guys cheerleading Jonathan when he engaged in impunity but turn around and condemn buhari for engaging in the same impunity.

APC Governors Barred From Traveling To Ekiti For Campaign Rally

Nigerian opposition governor was detained on Thursday by security forces on his way to campaign in the southwest Ekiti state before a local election this weekend, an official said. Rotimi Amaechi, one of seven governors to defect last year from President Goodluck Jonathan's ruling party to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), was detained in neighbouring Ondo state while making his way to his airplane.

"He was stopped ... by military personnel who surrounded his convoy and said they had superior orders from above to not let him depart from that location or continue his journey," Ibim Seminitari, information commissioner for Amaechi's Rivers state told Reuters. The airplane had been impounded, she said. "He is still at that location as I speak to you," she said
In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday by APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said at least three governors – Adams Oshiomhole of Edo, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers and Rabiu Kwankwanso of Kano – have so far been prevented from making the trip.

It said the helicopter that was to ferry Governor Oshiomhole from Benin to Ado-Ekiti was refused permission to take off from the Benin Airport, while the plane that was flying Governor Kwankwanso to Akure was denied permission to land.

Checks and balances are needed in a democracy.
Fayose should head to court, that way we can get the judicial pronoucement on the threat to impose a travel ban on a sitting Governor in a democracy; it will also help to deepen our democracy and further help to protect the rights of all citizens.
However, Fayose should pay Ekiti state workers their salaries; you cannot see the log of wood in your opponent's eye and ignore the beam of wood in yours.
You people are hypocrites, where was freedom of movement, immunity, checks and balance when president Jonathan was restricting governors from entering Ekiti state on the eve of fayose's election, where was fundamental human rights when governors aircrafts were refused landing rights to land in Nigerian airports. Fayose PDP and their supporters were enjoying the show then and screaming GEJ till 2019. Now what goes around comes around and they are forming emergency human rights activists.

Firstly, the success of any Administration translates into the success of most, if not all Nigerians.

By this last year, as a diehard optimist, I was cheering, hoping and dreaming of good, responsible leadership.
Uptil September/ October last year, I was still hopeful.

Buhari's comments about 95% and the 5% quickly betrayed his mindset,..that it was deja vu all over again.
No lessons learned.
People, leaders with that kind of mindset have a very very predictable way of dealing with national issues, and so far, he has been on script, almost verbatim.

Ever since , the entire facade has been unravelling.

I don't know why Buhari should be considered to be above criticisms, considering that he and his supporters did so much of it just a little more than a year ago.

We need to criticize our leaders more, a lot more.
It is our previous docility and apathy that has worked against us in enthroning good responsible leadership over the many decades.

We need to demystify leadership.
Leaders need to fear the people they lead, not the other way round.
Plaetton, you are one of my top 5 favourite monikers on nairaland, your understanding of issues is generally brilliant and i make sure i follow your posts, but on this Buhari issue, you have allowed your emotions get better of you. What you fail to realize is that the African style democracy is different from European or American type of democracy. In Europe or the US a single sex scandal can prove fatal to any political office holder, not to talk of a corruption scandal. In Africa even if a politician (especially the president) is seen physically robbing the central bank, nothing can be done. Even in democratic south Africa, what Zuma has gotten away with, a president under apartheid would have been long impeached. Zuma had been involved in various sex and corruption scandals, and he still gets a vote of confidence from his party.

To me Buhari was the lesser of two evils, Jonathan was hemorrhaging the country through negligence. All service chiefs, ministers and heads of parastatals and even militants became instant millionaires and billionaires in dollars, while we still suffered huge infrastructural, security and services deficits. He had to borrow in his last few months just to pay salaries, he owed huge debts in fuel subsidy arrears, etc. If Jonathan was still in charge when oil prices went below $40 consistently for up to 1 full year, i think we would have been worse than Venezuela. We are not out of the woods yet, we are still tethering towards economic and social upheavals. We just have to pray that Buhari succeeds to avoid the huge catastrophe that failure portends.

Lol.
He doesn't owe you a speech by speech analysis to prove anything.
He came to his conclusion after listening to the speech.
Millions of people reached same conclusion.

I , personally, even with my harsh criticism of this government, had an expectation that his speech would have been more reconciliatory, more humble, more recognition and acceptance of mistakes made in the past 12 months, taking full responsibility for current economic situation under his watch, and promising to consult more, listen more and do more.

Buhari is sure turning out to be a tragedy of misplaced trust.
As much as i respect your intelligence, you are letting your hatred hatred for Buhari becloud your sense of reasoning. How can someone make a claim of that a speech is the emptiest in 17 years 20 minutes after listening to the speech? You are saying the person was able to read and compare this speech with all previous democracy speeches or the person was able to remember verbatim all 17 previous democracy day speeches and was able to instantly compare them with this one, all within a space of 20 minutes,

Buhari is president and not you, when and if you become president you can say anything you like. He might be a tragedy to you, that does not mean he is a tragedy to over 180 million other Nigerians. Instead of ever whining of what ever Buhari says or does, start presenting alternative policies and candidate for the 2019 elections. If all you people do is wail and whine, then Buhari would have a smooth sailing in 2019.

These Ijaw criminals do not know the person they are dealing with. Buhari is no Jonathan, people that have worked with him including generals know him to be a very stubborn and calculated "mad man". He does not have the time of the avengers yet, he is still concentrating on finishing off Boko haram and retrieving the billions looted by the last administration. By the time he turns his attention south, i hope PDP,IPOB, avengers and co, would not cry genocide, ICC, human rights, etc. By the time the war planes buhari has ordered from the US arrives, it will make odi seem like a rehearsal. Buhari has the goodwill of the current leadership of UK and the US and they are appalled by the corruption of the last administration, so there is no way supporters of the corruption that took place under the last administration can get international sympathy .
Christianity EtcRe: I Had An Accident (PICTURE): Unraveling the foolishness in God's protection by wirinet(m): 7:54am On May 28, 2016
HardMirror:
This happened January last year (2015), but I want to share my experience because of the lessons therein.

It is a Mazda pickup I use for my Job (I have an engineering company), so it comes in handy when moving materials to site.

Before the day of the accident, about 2 weeks before then to be precise, one of my workers took the vehicle out and had an accident with it that damaged the front axle of the vehicle.

Mechanics around the area were unable to replace it immediate so I decided to take it to lagos for repairs.

Unfortunately I had a contract in osogbo I was yet to complete.

Instead of taking my other vehicle (a Lexus which was not going to be suitable for site work), I took the pickup despite it's wobbly front tires.

Long story short, I was getting used to driving this vehicle despite it's poor state.

So on this day I was driving at 120km/h and the vehicle didn't feel wobbly. So I kept the high speed. All of a sudden there was this large pothole ahead. I could not brake sharply so I tried to maneuver to the shallow portion of the pothole.

Next thing I knew, the vehicle was spinning out of control.
Next the vehicle somersaulted!

Now you would wonder why I am posting this in the religion section

People say we atheists would run back to God at the point of death.
Blatant delusion. I am absolutely not afraid of death.
INFACT, I am prepared to die young. Don't care about living old.

I came out of the wreckage with the vehicle upside down and people were praising God. I was smiling to myself. They kept saying it was God that saved me blah blah blah.

Note: this was my second major accident as an atheist and in both, I never thought about God, heaven or hell.
[/b]

I travel a lot and I see people praying everywhere living in fear of death. Even on airplanes, you see people praying. Shouting Jesus every time the plane Vibrates (turbulence or air pockets).

It makes me wonder what freedom religion especially christianity and islam has given people.

You travel by road it is even worse. I was once in a bus where 3 different people asked us to close our eyes for prayers as if the first prayer was not enough.

You see people coming to give testimony in church as if people who die are not religious too. Even people going on evangelism die in accidents.

So who is really free? The Atheist or Theist? After all, it is said that you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free
That is the irony of theism. Religious people are afraid to die but at the same time want to go to heaven. Atheists and irreligious people have overcome the fear of death. I remember when i had an accident about 15 years ago and i was unconscious, my greatest fear was fear of serious injury and physical pains, not the fear of death itself.

I think atheism free's oneself from all the fears indoctinated in us from birth.

The same political arrangement that made Adaka Boro the Student union president in an Igbo dominated pre war UNN.
The same political arrangement that saw the emergence of Obong of Calabar as the head of the Eastern region house of chiefs, ahead of Igbo traditional chiefs like Eze aro, Eze nri and Obi Nnewi.
Same that allowed a Fulani man to stand elected as the Mayor of Igbo capital city.
You are dabbling into what you know nothing about. I understand that as a Yoruba, inter ethnic politics is hard for you to grasp, seeing as the Yorubas never had to deal with anybody else in day to day living other than their fellow Yoruba people.
First, i am not yoruba, you guys need to stop calling anybody that disagrees with your opinion as yoruba. All the examples you gave are pre- civil war Nigeria, i am taking about post civil war Nigeria. In the 1951 federal legislative elections Zip and his NCNC won all the five seats in Lagos, the party also won seven of the eight seats in Ibadan; it won seats in many other towns such as Abeokuta, Oyo, Ife, Ilesha and Oshogbo. So Obong of calabar winning elections in eastern regions house of chiefs or an Ijaw winning student union election in igboland was no big deal then. The problem is today. let a non igbo go to Anambra or Enugu and become the speaker of the house of representatives, let a non Igbo get elected as NAN's president at UNN or even vice counsellor, then i would agree that igbos are not tribalistic as the rest of Nigeria.

Yes you are right that Zik was the one who brought this mess, the evidence being also that Nigeria would have gotten independence in 1957 but the north opposed it then zik said he would not allow independence if the north did not partake, them the independence was postponed till 1960, that action provided the Brits all they needed to do what they wanted.
As for a country where a tribe can be 50% population is entirely feasible, even with the minor tribes winning a presidential election, it all depends on the organization of the country, BTW you can not be termed minor when you are in your ancestral compound, it is impossible, but in Nigeria to show you how absurd this country is, it's the norm, a situation where your origin is more important than where you reside is a good recipe for chaos. Your place or residence should be first not place of origin for a country to be united.
Please stop playing with semantics, minority in politics or demographics is used strictly in terms of numbers or population, it has nothing to do with ancestral lands. Minority leader in a legislative house does not mean someone without ancestral land, it simply means his party has less members in the house than the opposite party. Likewise a minority in a country simply means their population is minor compared to other demographic groups. American Indians are termed minority in the USA despite they being aboriginal to the land.

Now, tell me what political organization would allow someone from a minority tribe of say 15% of the population to become president of a country in which a particular tribe has 50% in a democracy, especially in Africa with high tribal and religious sentiments? Unless you are proposing some other form of government outside democracy.

It was not the British that imposed one Nigeria on us, it was the Igbos. The British gave us the opportunity to go our separate ways during independence, the Hausas and Yorubas were ready to go it alone, but zik and his tribesmen said no,

There was never a time Zik or anyone had the power to disintegrate Nigeria, the British never made the disintegration of Nigeria an option. I find it funny when Yorubas assign mystical power of Nigeria disintegration to Zik.

If you have an independent( not Ibadan press) print evidence of the British ever offering Nigerian regions the option of independent existence, Post it here let me see. This Ibadan propaganda had lasted a lot, it's time it's totally debunked and expunged.

The North wanted to continue under the British rule, they were delaying the independence day, Zik worked to hasten the independence day. How exactly does that equate to Zik having the mystic powers of dividing the British Nigeria.
You lie or are ignorant. The three main parties were given the mandate to negotiate Nigeria's post independence constitution during the 1954 constitutional conference, the AG led by Awolowo and the NPC lead by Balewa proposed that the right of secession should be included in the constitution but NCNC lead by Zik vehemently opposed it and pushed for a tightly bound united / unitary structured constitution.

During a national conference in 1954, the party opposed a call to include the right of secession – a stance which was later exploited by the North and the West to deny the East the right to secede in the Nigerian Civil War. It had argued that the country was not a league of forced nations and it would be ruinous to include such right. The policies of the party, from its inception favored a countenance of determined expression for self-government and nationalism. The major aims of the party taken on subsequent campaigns at home and abroad were as follows.

The extension of democratic principles and advancement of the interest of the people of Nigeria and Cameroons under British mandate.
The imparting of political education to the people of Nigeria in order to prepare them for self-government.
The provision of medium of expression for members of NCNC through which they would endeavor to secure for Nigeria and the Cameroons, political freedom, social equality, religious toleration and economic activity.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Council_of_Nigeria_and_the_Cameroons
Whether you accept it or not Zik was instrumental to forcing a one Nigeria on us. And as you are aware, once a marriage takes place, divorce is often a very difficult and painful affair, even with a single couple.

I do not see the feasibility of a country where over 50% of the population will be one tribe, there cries of Marginalization would be 10 times what we have in Nigeria today. How will any other tribe win elective positions - especially the presidency.

That's why they always recognise those ex-colonies the way they left it anytime the liberators and seccesionists wants to change geo-political map of those ex-colonies.

Go and read the book- Biafra: Britain's shame by Auberon Waugh a journalist who was on ground and about wrote for The spectator, a British tabloid. He documented the evil that Britain represented in Biafra and the British government engineered his sack from his job.
Him and his pro-Biafran colleagues took it up and won damages for unfair dismissal.

His book on British evil in Biafra was even banned from being sold for sometime. That book cannot be SHIPPED to Nigeria as we speak.

In the eyes of the British, Nigeria still remains the Royal Niger Company-their war booty, (Today, even the US cannot interfere in Nigeria matters without British consent) and the British sponsored the war against Biafrans so that companies like shell can have 40% of your resources while their good hausa and fulani house niggars take the rest.

It's simple logic but can the 'One Nigerianist' buffoons in the south especially understand?
It is your ancestors that were Buffons. I wonder which resources you people (igbos) are always screaming about. Please list the resources that are/were present in igboland. The only resource I know of that interested the British in Igbo land were slaves.

It was not the British that imposed one Nigeria on us, it was the Igbos. The British gave us the opportunity to go our separate ways during independence, the Hausas and Yorubas were ready to go it alone, but zik and his tribesmen said no, now that the power equation is not in their favour, they throw up all types of tantrum like spoilt brats. You think you can colonize the eastern region and exploit their resources by forcing Biafra on them? You will be in for a surprise.

Yes, the British continued exploiting its colonies resources post independence, it is left for the colonies to come together and free themselves of economic and political exploitation as done by many other British colonies, ie USA, India, Hong Kong, etc. You cannot free yourself by creating another colony.

Look up the word schizophrenia.

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by abnormal social behavior and failure to understand reality.[2] Common symptoms include false beliefs, unclear or confused thinking, hearing voices, reduced social engagement and emotional expression, and a lack of motivation.[2][3] People with schizophrenia often have additional mental health problems such as anxiety disorders, major depressive illness or substance use disorder.[4] Symptoms typically come on gradually, begin in young adulthood, and last a long time.[3][5]

Schizophrenia is often described in terms of positive and negative (or deficit) symptoms.[27] Positive symptoms are those that most individuals do not normally experience but are present in people with schizophrenia. They can include delusions, disordered thoughts and speech, and tactile, auditory, visual, olfactory and gustatory hallucinations, typically regarded as manifestations of psychosis.[28] Hallucinations are also typically related to the content of the delusional theme.[29] Positive symptoms generally respond well to medication.[29]

Schizophrenia is hereditary and it is estimated that that 3 -5% of the population has the condition. This explains why it might run in your family.

zombies above me would never cease to amuse me. How they jump to government's defense all the time makes us believe they are paid per post to defend the government. These guys are asking for assistance in sourcing forex, the forex market which fg goofed by shutting down and some nitwits are saying what I don't understand. Later you would crawl back to your miserable hole, no light, no fuel, no food. Your only consolidation is that you have charged your phone at a vendor which enables you come online and spew thrash
Wailers just wail without thinking. Where do you expect government to get the dollars to assist the oil marketers? Get a printing machine and start printing dollars? You people talk as if you are not aware that our only source of foreign exchange is crude oil and it has been selling for less than $40 for the past one year, apart from sabotage of production by militants. As long as revenue from oil dwindles, every one of us will have to source our own dollars to import foreign goods. So quit wailing and do something that can earn you some dollars.

The rescued girl is not the same girl on the pic.I don't know why people are pretending to be blind (1)The distance between the two ears of the gal in the pic is wider than that of the rescued girl.In a simple analogy,if u drag a picture sideways during picture editing, the face will appear stretched in East West direction.(2)The girl in the pic has flat lips that can close perfectly while the rescued girl has pointed lips that closes partially.(The rescued girl has pointed nose while the girl in the pic has flat nose. There other factors such as complexion, age as at when she enrolled for sure.
Mr forensic, you mean you used measuring tape to measure the ears eyes and nose? I think you watched too much CSI. If you want to know if the two pics is the same girl, look at the eyes. The eyes never change with age. So look at the eyes and tell me if you see the same person.

Your post brings up some points to address.

1. WAEC have a standand from region to region you said?. In that wise one picture is allowed in the north and another in the west of south?
If this true, then this is a discussion for another thread, it has no relation with the topic at hand.
2. In what language do they do their english/maths/bilogy/physics/accounting/government in the north?. All these are done in hausa language? if someone cannot speak a language, how would that person be able to do a comprehension and essay in that language?
What evidence do you have that she cannot write or read English. Have you tested her or seen her previous school results ?
3. How old is this girl now?
She is said to be 19 yes now
4. How long did she walk from the forest to where she was found?
5. Was she carrying her 5 months baby with her while escaping from the forest or she later went back to pick the child up?
6. Where was the so called husband found too? In the forest or nearby?
All these details can only be gotten from her directly or through official government press release, any other source is pure speculation.

Before asking us to rejoice in deception, please help with the above and then we can take your words for serious.
I am not a dictective or the one investigating the case neither are you, but one thing is certain, you are not more informed or intelligent than the Nigerian government, the foreign media, US and UK governments, Oby Ezekwelisi and all on the chibok case. If you feel you are more intelligent. then you need to see a psychiatrist.

I cannot answer your question, but when I was writing my last series of secondary school exams while in boarding school, I did not go home for the holidays. My friends and I stayed behind when the school was on holidays to sturdy for JAMB and WAEC. The school even drove us out of the hostels and had to beg a teacher to squat in his boy's quarters.

I do not have evidence she could not do those things you stated as I have not tested her. I do not know if she was even a chemistry student. The fact that she spoke Hausa does not mean she can't speak or write englisn.
