In the movie, he shrunk himself down to the quantum world and nearly died. His scientist mentor noted that the quantum level is an abyss in which no one understands the rules.

What do you think would happen if we could manipulate things at the quantum level.

I have not seen ant man, i do not even have time to watch movies. We will never be able to manipulate things on the quantum. We are only barely able to manipulate things crudely on the atomic level, which is our own level if scale. Till now, we cannot turn lead to gold by atomic manipulation. The quantum level is so weird that it is like Alice in wonderland. Even Einstein was humbly disgraced when he tried to venture into the quantum level, hence he could not believe "God plays dice with the universe". To me the most crazy aspect of the quantum level is that you cannot determine the position and velocity precisely, measuring one quantity automatically de-measures the other quantity. Now, how can you manipulate anything in such a world ?

Every star you see in the night sky is an ongoing fusion reaction, new stars are forming right now somewhere in the universe while some are dying. Every element in the universe today outside hydrogen and helium were created as a result of fusion reaction. The building block of the universe is the fusion of hydrogen and a little percentage of helium to form heavier elements.

So your explanation for the questions you raised rests with your divine creator and to you that is a more logical explanation to science. Ok, explain further;
From what materials did your divine creator create matter from? he could not have created it from nothing.
How did the first atoms come into being?
What forces did he use to make the atoms react.

And what proof do you have to support your hypothesis.

I sense a Nobel price if you are able to prove your theory.

Scientists are just still reeling from the fact that atoms can be split or fused. This is manipulating atoms with release of energy.
If man could create atoms, it would have been celebrated. Besides, the fission and fusion don't just spontaneously occur in nature.

The fact that you are comfortable with your IQ does not mean your IQ is above average, only a valid IQ test can determine that.
From what you wrote, it is no wonder you have no idea of what jonnydon22 wrote. How can you say fussion and fission don't just spontaneously occur in nature? What then prompt the fussion reaction in the core of the sun. Are you suggesting atoms in a chuck of uranium would not split spontaneously naturally?
You avoided the question entirely, i still ask that if you disagree with science about the formation of matter, what is your more logical and sensible explanation.

To be honest, my strength in the Lord started waxing cold. Something was seriously wrong, I began to wonder, "what has god really done for me?"
Early in the morning, I would take strolls from oba kekere to Oba nla usually from AM or stroll from Apatapiti to futa Junction and back to Futa south gate, praying in spirit, searching my soul for answers.
I was deeply troubled. My mind was fighting all the indoctrinations I had from childhood.

My parents were never christians and did not go to church when I was young.

I recall around 1995 when I watched a movie about Jesus christ (I don't know the title) and how much he suffered and eventually died for our sins. It was on an easter day.
I remember how me my sister and brother all ended up crying, seriously crying and asking God to forgive us our sins. That was the day I got born again. It was a deeply emotional day. I remember that our parent were not at home.
We cried and cried all lying on the floor.

The movie was a touching one, seeing a man suffer so much and at the end of the movie there was a little sermon. Even though I was young, I understood the movie.

I could not just abandon the faith, I had to fight to keep it alive. So from being a leader in my fellowship, I humbled myself and left the fellowship to join the Life Oasis Church (Dream Center) in Akure. The year was 2011.
Then Pastor Charlse was the man Pastor Olusola areogun sent to establish the church in Akure.

I believed I needed to retrace my step and be a student of the bible to regain my conviction of faith.

I became a student and disciple under Pastor charlse. The church was behind Chicken republic Futa Junction.

I remember being taught fundamental things as if I was never a giant in the works of the spirit, but all that did not matter to me. All I wanted was to fall in love with christ all over again. I wanted to be taught like a child again.

I must confess pastor charlse was a great teacher. I remember how he opened his home to us and how much time he spent with us sharing the word of God with us. Nuturing us. This was despite him being a medical doctor and barely having enough time for himself and family, yet he gave it all for us.

Despite all this, here I am, a none believer. And a proud one.

This was the last effort I made to save my faith, but once you know the truth, telling lies to yourself becomes ridiculously hard. It was not working. The god of the bible remained as fake as fake could be.

The bolded statement to me is the greatest miracle of Christianity, able to make people feel a deep sense of guilt for something you have no idea of, by people you do not know and living in an era you don't know. How the guilt for the crucifixion of a Jewish man in Palestine some 2000 years ago is put on black Africans living deep in the jungle of Africa in the 20th century is the greatest miracle of time.

Not sure about the ban but I believe that the marriage counselling committee in churches should handle the aspect of family planning not really the pastors . Books regarding family planning should also be recommended for couples who are going into marriage .

The onus should not only be on the religious institution . We should start from the young ones in secondary schools , inculcate in them the need to engage in family planning .

The responsibility is put on religious institutions because in Nigeria, religious institutions has a huge influence on the populace. Peoples believe and listen to their pastors, imams, etc, than any other person.
You want to start teaching teens about family planning? Are they planning to start a family? Secondary school children should be taught sex education and how to avoid sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies, not to determine how many children they should have.

The government could enforce a law like they did in China to control the number of children a married couple should have .

The China controls cannot work here. IBB tried something similar with his one wife 4 children policy, it failed woefully . The policy would fail because of Traditional, cultural and religious values of Nigerians. How will you tell an igboman with 4 daughters and no sons not to have any more children, when the igbo society is a highly patrilineal society. Similar issues will arise with yoruba, hausa and other societies.

What he wrote is the secrets of most spiritual hearings, it is called the placebo effect. Have you heard of the placebo effect? If you give 100 people suffering from the Same illnesses chalk or even horse piss to drink, a small percentage (less than 5%) will get cured, while the majority would not feel the effect of the placebo. It is the same thing that happens in crusades and miracle services, out of thousands of people with one pain or the other, only very few will get healed due to faith in the pastor - placebo effect, majority will go in the same condition they came, a few would be worse off.

It is the few that got healed that will serve advertisement of the power of the pastor. It works overtime.
It is like 100 people going to a doctor and the doctor only heals 5, would you consider the doctor a good doctor?

I am still in shock at what you wrote. Are you saying , that as a mother, you bare no responsibility whatsoever for the welbeing and safety of your children? Most mothers would put themselves in harms way to save their children. If your son locks himself in a room and kills himself, then you are a terrible mother. You did not care to find out why he is suicidal, it might probably due to your wickedness and lack of love.

Healings can come miraculously thru several mean. You can use the name of anything. If today I claim that the water coming out from my tap is healing water and people believe in it. All I need is enough people to take the water and at the end call for testimonies. Be sure that you will hear lots of testimonies.
You just have to make your premise something people can believe in absolutely even if it is based a a big fat lie. It does not matter. Then have a wide spectrum of people put their faith in it.

If I have 1000 sick people. Have various degrees of infamity drink the fake healing water. I am sure we will get about the same number of testimonies as having 1000 people let pastor chris pray for them.

It still works for me.
I trick people close to me into getting healed. Could tell them to drink water and convince them it is no ordinary water. Or make vegetable concoction soup and claim it is medicinal and you see people getting back to their feet in no time. Depends on how convincing you are and how their body responds to the illness. It does not always work just the way prayer in jesus name does not always work. Success rate is about the same frequency.

What he has been saying is that although these conditions are real, they have nothing to to with God. It has more to do with the way the human brain and hence the mind is wired.
He feels HE doesn't exist because, first no body has been able to describe not to talk of what HE is. The Christian God is modeled after a Jewish bearded old man, ruling and dispensing justice from the throne of an Israeli village or town. if there is a god, i do not think, it will be a man or woman In sex.

No. Humans would never evolve into something else in the one day , it will take tens of millennia according to environmental and ecological changes. Evolution is a gradual process of allowing living things to adapt to changing climatic and ecological conditions. Without evolution, all living creatures on this planet would have been extinct by now.

Your pascal wager cost you more than a dime. First it will cost you millions if not tens if millions of naira in the guise of tithes and offerings, but it will cost you much more in time wasted. Time you should have used to add value to yourself and the world in general, you are wasting in church services, fellowships, night vigils, Etc. For example, the op is obviously a very brilliant and gifted fellow, imagine what he would have achieved for himself and his society had he used the energy and efforts he used for Christian activities for more productive activities?

It is safe to say you are wrong. According to evolutionary biology, modern man is roughly 150,0000 years old. This is even besides the point. In reality no one really knows and can know the origin of the universe, science only try to make an educated guess based on available evidence. In the meantime, one thing is certain, the universe was not created by white bearded Jewish old man, using Jewish words (which we were told was actually his son). There is no shred of evidence to support this hypothesis.

Please read what you wrote slowly, and see whether it makes any sense. God does not need human verification to be real but he goes into fits and rage at those that fails to verify him as real. God does not need human verification, but he permit Devil to test job to see if job can remain loyal in face of adversaries. In fact the whole of the bible is all about the obsession of God for human verification.

The story of Job paint God and Devil not as enemies or adversaries as assumed by Christians but as competitors for man's worship and loyalty. That god and Satan can sit around the same table and discuss shows the is no mortal hatred between the two.

If you have a very brilliant child or a staff you say is of good character, won't you be proud of that child or staff. Won't you boost of that child to everyone? Surely someone will say it's because he is under your supervision that the child /staff is good and would request to test him.
That is exactly what happened God asked the Devil have your seen my son Job? Sure God must have pointed other people to Devil and God allowed devil to test them. However Job was referenced in the bible because he didn't fall, others must have fallen. Have you forgotten that to him who endure temptation and and prosecution shall be crowned with a crown of gold in the end.
If all these had happened before the time of Jesus they would have been struck down. Jesus came and gave us dispensation of grace, that's why you can abuse God and not have felt the wrath of God.
My prayer is that you return to God and be sober, for after the rapture every man left behind would shed his own blood during tribulation to be saved.

You people are so in love with fairy tales, so much so that your whole existence is rooted in fairy tales.
Now, if God and Devil are always also conferencing to test humans on who commands more loyalty between the two of them, why disturb the rest of humanity? Let two of them get into the ring and test their powers or popularity, it has nothing to do with the rest of humanity.

Scare tactics to get you to submit to their gods and hence his priests. No one can come back to confirm the existence of hell, so you have no way of confirming the lies.

Basic law of the universe - what was created must also be destroyed, what has a beginning must also have an ending. Since the universe is speculated to have a beginning it must also have an ending.
The only physical entity known to science without a beginning or to have an ending is energy. That is why the sum total of the energy of the universe is constant, meaning energy can neither be created nor destroyed. So if souls are said to have been created but cannot be destroyed, it means there will be an imbalance in the soul energy of the universe.

You asked for video evidence or pictures showing the evolving early man developing gibberish as a language, meanwhile you provide no evidence whatsoever to prove that your god was so afraid of men building a tower to gate crash his heavenly abode that he decided to destroy the tower and scatter their language.

Language is simply a form of communication and all living things (including plants) engage in one form of communication or the other. Humans like lots of other animals engage in vocal communication. Birds and dolphins also engage in complex and varied vocal communication with enough differences within specific social groups to pass as language.

I am certain you will attribute differences in writings also to your tower of label.

My own question about reincarnation is;
- If souls can never really be destroyed how come they were ever created.
- If new babies are given recycled souls, then it means there is a production line of souls as the human population would soon outstrip available souls.
- in the beginning, it is said that there were only two people on this earth, now we have close to 8 billion peoples, where did the extras 8 billion souls come from, and in the next 200 or so years, the current population is expected to double, where will still the extra souls come from?

There no biblical answer to ur question. God may have created them with a skin color capable to produce different colors we do have today. This special feature would be different from what we do know today.

The book, Heredity in Humans, by Amram Scheinfeld stated we all came from the same first man.

Are you saying God created man with Cameleon like skin, able to change colour at will? or you are saying Adam and Eve gave birth to children of different colours and races? You should know that difference in races goes beyond just skin colour, races differ in physical features like hair texture and colour, eye colour and shape, nose shape, bone density, etc. How do you account for these features?

Furthermore, how do you explain the fact that prior racial mixing of populations brought about by faster means of transportation, skin colour was a function of the latitude inhabited by that population. The closer to the poles a people inhabit, the lighter their skin colour and the closer to the equator a people inhabit, the darker their skin colour.

I do not know about our head shrinking, but i am certain our heads cannot be getting bigger. Human head size is limited by the size of the female pelvis. A baby's head cannot pass through the female birth canal if it is too big, and the female pelvis cannot get bigger without affecting movement.

How did you come to the realization that the universe is far wider than the size light will travel in 13 billion years? Have you been able to observe objects in the universe that are up to 20 billion light years away? Or did you get that information through revelation from your god. Science is based on observable or measurable data and presently there is no measurement of distance beyond roughly 13 billion light years.

My journey to atheism was born out of my thirst to know God better.. With all sense of humility, holiness was my robe, churchiness was my culture. I was a music minister and rose through the rank and file of the hierarchy.. See.. Religion does not make one a better person though it can ifluence you to be one... but i think we within ourselves decide whether we want to be good or bad. On the contracry, it makes one an hypocrite.. and thats what religionists are. no offence but its the truth..
Op.. I still go to church but at my own discreetion just to fulfill all righteousness of the society and moreso, there is no concrete platform for people of like mind to meet. Infact we are scared of revealing ourselves because of the trauma that will follow. Ours will be worse than the gay persons. I started my atheism journey late 2014.
@ wirinet.. i will think about it.. watch out but not so soon.. Something explosive i about to happen in my church (its a very dirty stuff).. i need to closely moniitor it).. Thats my new found hobby anyway..

Thanks for thinking about it, i really hope you share your experience. I agree with you that religious organizations are like cults, they are more of political cults than a business cults. I am also aware that religious cults had been sustained for thousands of years through physical and spiritual treats, intimidation and even outright violence. But now things have changed, the religious cults are not the only source of information. There was a time all books were destroyed save religious texts, and the only book a person will ever read in their life was the bible. With the information age we can get information from numerous sources and most important of all, we can exchange information anonymously at will. So the possibility of religious organizations and their slave soldiers harming you is slim.

As you have rightly noted, religion and politics have collaborated throughout history to achieve one objective - control and exploitation of people's resources and minds. This is even more evident in societies with high levels of illiteracy. The more literate a society, the more difficult it would be for priests and politicians to exploit the masses.

Seriously bro.. you wont understand. You feel pity for those people when you meet them cos they will not believe you if you tell them otherwise. The pschology of Religion is damn to powerful on her slave subjects. Mind you some of us in the op's shoe have to play along because, we are in a religious society. My story is so similar to that of the op.. i must commend you for writing this out, i think.. i will do mine also but not on naitraland because many are still blinded. They dnt even want to see. And personally, i hate bothering myself because of some ingrate.. i let ur experience define your decision. Till date many of my spiritual protege still refer to me as pastor, some call me bishop.. any way i dnt care.. all i know is AM A FREE MAN... There is no slavery as worse than mental/psychological one... I really pity a whole lot of theists.

Dankol, i plead with you to also share your own story of how you become "UNPLUGGED" it will go a long way in helping others who are enslaved in the shackles of exploitative religions and their men of gods. Nairaland with its very huge audience would be the best place to post your experience.
