Crime / Re: Fulani Herdsmen Attack Seminary In Taraba, Shoot Catholic Priest by wolexter(m): 3:34pm On May 28, 2018
Politics is indeed a dirty game. Why would fulani herdsmen leave their cattles to attack church, priest etc? To what end? To take over the church or what? I can understand a situation where the tussle is between farmers and herdsmen probably over grazing land. Even here, no one has a right to kill another. This and others Iike it look to me like religious killing perpetuated by ISIS fighters or some enemies of the state.

Politics / Re: Is It Time To Change The IGP? by wolexter(m): 6:25am On May 19, 2018
It's so unfortunate what Nairaland has become. You come here and all you get to read is the submission of paid agents of politicians and I mean the selfish and bad politicians, who have only succeeded in using their position to Impoverish us. These agents tactfully target the mind of the undiscerning and simple ones, trying to sway their reasoning and make them align with theirs. Their moniker changes but their position about important national issues is the same -Hate. No objectivity! Can somebody please tell me what good Saraki or Dino has done in this govt that the IG should be axed because he dared to stand up to them? Or isn't the legislature part of the govt anymore? Dear Nairaland youth, you are intelligent and not lazy. The present govt has fared badly and we deserve and must get something better come 2019, but let's be careful who we allow to control our mind online, so they don't lead us astray again.

This is a very good development, that is hopefully an indication of how the wasted and pointless life of Mr. Maajale will be terminated by his own people one fine day, and with extreme prejudice.

In a country where vast numbers of voters have no idea where their next meal will come from, it is the height of callous obscenity, for this uncultured and semi-literate buffoon, who evidently had NO visible source of income prior to being elevated into the corridors of power, to spend his every waking moment boasting and crowing online in celebration of his fleet of hugely expensive luxury cars all acquired with stolen public funds.

Hopefully it won't be too long before the laws of karma finally catch up with Mr. Maajale, whereby the ballistic rain of hurled stones will not only lay waste the entire collection of ostentatious status-symbol cars bought by this monkey with stolen government money, but also shatter the vacuous bony cranium of the arrogant and comically vain career criminal who bought every one of the vehicles with looted public wealth.

You met d wrong person and it happens in every other profession. Am proudly a mechanic!
Bro that you are good and wouldn't rip clients off does not mean other mechanics wouldn't. I'm sure your level of education has a lot to do with how well you have turned out in this profession, if indeed you are one of the good ones. People who have had bitter experiences know better than to assume all mechanics are good and the right ones as such they may need to take measures to protect themselves.
The mechanic profession is a good and important one and I'm glad you are proud to be one.

gbadexy:
my car refused to start after buying from from a petrol station and I asked the attendant if there was any mechanic around, he called a guy in a uniform similar to what their mechanics wear and when I asked him if he was a mechanic, he just told me can't I see his uniform. Being in a hurry with piled up work in my place of work, I just wanted to get out of there fast and didn't pursue the enquiry further.
The guy said the injector was dirty and he cleaned some part there, after doing that and it wasn't starting, he said they would have to service the whole injector. At that point I asked if there was a rewire around and asked him if he was sure it wasn't a wiring problem but he told me emphatically that it wasn't.
The guy went inside their garage where they do wheel balancing and called another guy in mufti and told me that one was a mechanic. The guy checked it and concluded it was the fuel pump that was failing and had to be changed including servicing the injector and he billed me.
He however said they had to push the car outside so that they won't charge me, I reasoned that they only change oil and wheel balancing and may not allow the place to be used for such.
I quickly went to the nearest bank to make withdrawal and when I got to where they pushed the car, I saw another set of mechanics in uniform checking the car and I challenged those I met at the filling station that they deceived me that they were going to do it and went to contract it to someone else, they denied it but I made them know I understand what was happening.
Now to where this relates to the topic. The mechanic checked it and told me the same thing the engineer in mufti said and assured me it would work. I didn't want to leave the car with them but I have pending work at my factory and had to leave especially when I was told it would be ready in 6 hours. But I stood there for some time and the mechanic called me again that those guys made mistake and it was something different entirely and it would cost me more but he assured me it would work, no stories.
To cut story short he didn't start the car and even suggested I manage it home after fiddling with something there. When I threatened the one called engineer that I would report them at the filling station, he started shouting for the guy to give me back my money and after much threats, he coupled it back and gave me 5k out of the 10k and told me he already bought some parts which he didn't show me. We pushed the car into a secured plaza and informed the security.
I informed my personal mechanic the following day and he went the next day being monday. He checked it and said it was wiring problem. He called his rewire and that one confirmed it's ignition problem and went to fix it. The mechanic simply fixed it back and drove it to my place.
The cover on the timing belt wasn't bolted properly and some bolts were missing, I noticed the fuel gauge wasn't were it was supposed to be since I just bought fuel and the mechanic only drove it back to my place but I couldn't be certain since I'm not sure fuel can be siphoned out.
All in all, if I wasn't in a hurry, I should have parked in a secure place and contacted my mechanic. but we live and learn.
Another lesson bro is to try and know more about your car by reading and watching whenever you mech works on it.
Car Talk / Re: Things You Need To Know If You Do Patronize Roadside Mechanics by wolexter(m): 8:13am On Jul 13, 2017
Nice write up.
Methinks its important every car owner makes out time to study and understand the different parts of the car they drive and how these parts work. Truth is, most times we pay so much for our ignorance and minor faults we could easily fix ourselves. I have come to realse that these road side 'mechanics' tend to behave better when they meet a car owner who has a good knowledge of parts and their function than they do when they meet one who doesn't. So for me I always try to decipher the fault and attempt to fix thanks to the internet and close watching the mech fix the first time, and only call in the mech where I can't and he must give me the break down of parts/ cost of repairs in advance so i can check with Nnamdi et al @ Ladipo. I have Nnamdi et al contacts unknown to my mech lol. Also I maintain a very good relationship with my mech- sending him recharge cards or showing up at his place to give his kid(s) money randomly. My father taught me its important you do kind gestures like these to people your life/business depend on such as driver, mechanic, employee so you can get the best from them.
Another thing I do is ensure the mech gives me receipt for each purchase so I can have an idea how much same part should cost and where i could buy next time. I have a record book for my spend.

Hmm. .. its a shame what has become of the average Nigerian youth especially those here on NL. Gone are the days when one comes here and gets to read brilliant, objective comments to posts. What we have now are comments from paid youths who one can tell are trying so hard to defend their erring pay masters. May God not spare any of such people when his judgment comes on the pay masters

Thank you very much for taking out time to explain to us...

I relate with your experience as am presently a corp member, unfortunately posted to the northern part of Naija......The only thing i do now is think think think of ways to revamp my biz here in the north..an extremely unfavorable land..

Being a corp member gives you some advantages- almost everybody loves corp members and would rather do business with them plus if you are into merchandising as a corp member, you might be able to get goods on credit on the premise that you cant run away atleast during the service period. So go out and build relationships and leverage on these. And most importantly market whatever business you do aggressively even if its supposedly a soft sell. Banks are very rich and easily noticeable yet they dont joke with marketing.

@ bold so how do i generate ideas if not from others experience? i've been so curious about this
Please dont get me wrong, you can generate your ideas from what others do but dont jump into such biz line only cos you see others succeeding. Do your home work and make sure you have a passion for it. Generating ideas could happen in diverse ways but the idea you pursue should be one you have a passion for so you are able weather whatever storm will come your way. For instance, at my small level, I currently wear 3 hats- event mgt(rental service, event decoration, kiddies entertainment, event planning, mc etc), haulage and real estate and i'm thinking of adding a fourth in project mgt (already taking classes for d exam). Each of these ideas came to me at different times. Event mgt was sold to me by the pool car driver @ my 1st place of employment after nysc. We were quite close so he advised me to invest my money in party rental services. He told me the rudimentary cos he had worked for someone who was doing same successfully. But I didnt just jump into it cos he told me to. I wore my thinking cap and got close to people who were already in the biz and when i was convinced it was something i could succeed in i moved, and added other parts over time.I do the trucking part of haulage cos I own a truck I bought for my events biz. To maximize my income jn this line i used my network to get companies where my truck would work and monies will be paid directly to my account without worries about driver wahala. Real estate has no special skill. Anybody can tidy a real estate deal, but aside property sale, I restrict myself to property mgt after i took a diploma course in real estate entrepreneurship @ realty point.

True

But what is the essence of an idea without the resources to promote it
Stop waiting for resources before making a move on whatever ideas you have. Sometimes resources or funds as it were, is the last thing you need to bring your idea to fruition. Think, think and think, and opportunity to turn your idea to reality will come. I achieved my dream of making N1million as a youth corper many years ago and all I had was an idea I was obsessed and fixated about. I had been posted to a state my parents didn't like and while they were nursing the idea of redeploying me to Lagos, I persuaded them to give me a chance to turn the situation around for good. So I set a goal of making N1million legitimately during the service year as my definition of success for that period. And I did. I had no money when I was leaving Lagos for youth service. Infact I had no idea what business I was going to do by the side until I got to my base and started investing time thinking.I started my small business with my meagre first allowee after posting to my place of primary assignment and ended up achieving my goal. Sorry I'm not gonna bore you with the story of how I made it but the crux is you can turn your idea to reality- invest in thinking and opportunity to turn your idea to reality will come. And don't plunge into a business just because someone else has succeeded doing same.

Too bad! Never ever neglect to do adequate due diligence/ background checks on whoever you intend to employ, especially for low level positions ( positions requiring little or no education) 'cos there are too many wicked people out there. And most of the people in this category believe they have little or no chance of making it in life except through crime.
I learnt my lesson the hard way.
