justwise: I was on phone early today to passenger locator helpline in the UK just to clarify the rules, you needed to hear how rude the lady at the other end of the line sounded, I asked why British citizens/residents who are returning to the UK can not quarantine at home considering the cost of hotel.. she went… the person has to stay in back in Nigeria if he/she can not afford it that it doesn’t matter if you only visited Nigeria for one hour. Get on a plane to Dublin, chill for few days and get on a bus to UK. |

TheGuyFromHR: Never. Travel bans are political, not medical. Nigeria has basically downgraded itself in the comity of nations and has not got the clout it should have and is not taken seriously.
Look what happened with India and the delta variant earlier this year where the govt dragged its feet concerning putting India on the red list for days even while all the media were shouting to high heavens because it was careful about offending India.
If Nigeria bans travellers from the UK, nobody will notice or care, except Nigerians living in the UK. India can mess UK up big time if they play politics with the Covid situation. The likes of Wipro, Infosys and Tata are the backbones of the IT industry, they ship in a lot human resources daily supporting critical infrastructure here. Naija on the other hand can be politically played as we are desperate to come to UK even if we are paying a lot of mullah to do so. |

The US gov will now work with the 3 major cloud service providers. I am sure all the 25 global regions can't go down at the same time. This is why major organisations are deploying multicloud solutions |

Maybe not the most useless but it is a bit useless cos you won't get the requisite knowledge to become an ethical hacker from it. That's why I said it's more rewarding to go for oscp. |

marylandcakes: This is my style of investment too. Long term and watch your income grow. Choosing companies with high dividend yield also. Your approach is a good one. With stock and shares these days, one has to be strategic and tactical at the same time. There's something called growth stock and dividend stock. Yourself and Claremont are currently investing in dividend stocks which most of the returns are long term (5years +) There's another set called the hype stocks. These are mostly driven by hype and you make your returns very fast. For example, Rivian EV when launched on stock exchange was trading at $70 per share, within few days, the price rose to $160. If you buy like 200 shares on Monday that week for 14k, by Friday you'd have made 18k when you sell. Please tell me why I'd hold Rivian stock for long at that price when I know full well that it is driven by hype or major social event? When the hype is down the stock would have come back to its real price which would be about $20. If you now want to keep stocks for longterm, you can buy again at the real price. You have quickly made your gains and left the market or possibly reinvest it in ETFs and Life strategy funds on Vanguard. This is the art of gaming the market! caveat***it could go both ways |

Ralphlauren: Thanks for the detailed explanation.
I have been setting aside funds for another buy to let. I might just consider alternative investment and see how it goes
Do you get taxed on your profits? The investment profits are subject to CGT provided it's above £12300 in a year. My overall profit since I started never reach that. However, if you are trading stock and shares within ISA, it is tax exempt for up to 20k per year. But, if eledumare grant my heart desire and shiba reaches £0.05 today, I go go press Boris' nose for Downing street. |

Ralphlauren: Two things I have been unable to crack - stocks and crypto investments.@Lexusgs430 @wonlasewonimi
Please do you have a starter guide on how I can join you guys? bros, i am a novice too. When people were talking about making money on crypto and stocks, I just went on my Revolut and started buying shares from reputable companies like microsoft, apple in short, FAANG companies bit by bit. Also, the fact that I can buy stocks with as low as 5 pounds. From there i moved to Freetrade which is a standard stocks and shares trading platform. I also started watching Sasha Yanshin on youtube who gives good insight to what he is personally doing. For example, I got to know about Lucid from him around Aug this year and bought 200 shares when it was $18, today Lucid is $51.I bought Tesla whenit was $450 and it's now $1156, i only have 4. I wishI had started years back. As per crypto, I started on Revolut as well, and I was putting few coins in bitcoin and ethereum. Now I have moved to coinbase. I have some money in ethereum, Dogecoin and Shiba. With shiba, I could have become a millionaire if i had bit the bullet and put 2k in it around April. I only bought £60 worth which turned out to worth £1400 in Oct. ***with crypto, you should only put money you can afford to lose. I think oga Lexus is the OG on this parole. |
