Pimpmaride: Potential Gay sighted....
Guys secure ur ass ooooo
Hold ass tight..
Ladies can come forward You people in Africa make it very hard for men to be expressive and that's why they die of depression, heart attack or commit suicide often. Stop this toxic masculinity and liberate yourself. More importantly, don't project your own insecurities on the guy. He's confident enough to share his issues here, it's a pity if that level of courage doesn't sit well with your insecure ass. The assumption that gay people would even be into you is ridiculous. If you don't have an answer (not surprising seeing the way you think), just move on. You mustn't comment on every thread. |

Minjim: You can't impose a particular tactic on every journalist. There is a reason why we are told to think outside the box. Many famous journalist are renowned for being fierce and asking blunt questions. It all depends on the mentality of the person they're asking. FFK is full of himself. FFK had been to Zamfara, Anambra and now Cross Rivers. He has never been seen in a law court before. He was minister 13 years ago. Who is bankrolling such VIP trip is a relevant question. (Maybe you can tell me how else to ask it). I only blame that man and other journalist there. Read below how other journalist treated a whole American president when they felt he was racial profiling an Asian -American journalist cos if a question she asked.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2020/05/trump-testy-asian-american-reporter-media-briefing-200512001527879.html
Journalist have to be united in standing up for each other in Nigeria not preoccupied with a brown envelope. It is not just a tactic, it is basic journalism. Even the fiercest of them all like Amanpour and co. know how to provide soft landing for themselves. We don't know the man's investments so saying he's been out of court for long is not enough reason to assume he could not sponsor himself. You might as well ask him who is feeding him and tell me it's OK since he's jobless. I appreciate styles and approaches cause journalism is about getting answers, the need for answers is far more fundamental than appearing fierce on screen and the journalist is expected to apply every tactic to make the answers come out but then again, this does not trump the basic principle which is that the journalist must be unassuming. He must not ask suggestive questions without first building his premise. Take a look at this: "You've travelled quite a lot and one can only imagine the cost of such extensive coverage especially in this hard times, are you being supported/sponsored/ partially or fully by anyone or any organization?" The above is a seemingly harmless question that could lure the ex-minister into accepting he's being bankrolled and the journalist could use that premise to strike him with the question of who was bankrolling him. This way, he wouldn't have a reason not to answer and we would have known by now who was spending public funds on FFK (which was the aim of the journalist). But instead, he started with: "Who is bankrolling you?"Compare the question above and the one I suggested and tell him which one sounds more like Christiana Amanpour. Like I said, we're hitting hard on FFK cause a lot of people don't like him and he went overboard with his reaction but we must also acknowledge the tactlessness of the journalist. |
Politics › Re: Eyo Charles: Femi Fani-Kayode Speaks On Incident With Daily Trust Journalist by WoundedLamb: 12:37am On Aug 26, 2020 |
Minjim: It's the work of every journalist to ask seemingly embarrassing questions. You either answer or decline. Simple! There is nothing wrong with the question. At least no reasonable person has condemned the journalist. The journalist only disappointed me by not standing his ground. As a journalist, you must be prepared. You mustn't be intimidated. You have to be aware of just who you are, what you are, what you know, what you bring to the table and what you deserve. Don’t be apologetic. I doubt if you are a journalist. The work of the journalist is to "uncover" and not to "ask seemingly embarrassing questions". It is understandable if the person being asked questions gets embarrassed but that is never the aim of journalism. Journalism is game of tact, the journalist must be unassuming and must ask unambiguous questions. To get the truth from people, the journalist blocks every exit route by first building his premise and then following up with trailing questions that cannot be avoided based on the pre-established premise. It's similar to litigation but less aggressive. Asking "who is sponsoring who (or "you" " when no premise has been built on the subject of "sponsoring" is not in any way smart. It creates room for the person to avoid the question. Nigerians don't condemn things based on logic but mostly based on their relationship with the people involved. FFK has many foes so the fact that people are not condemning the journalist is nothing to go by. Besides, like I said earlier, FFK overreacted thus taking the attention away from the the journalist's poor skills. |

The journalist has however reacted and going from what he said he asked, it's still inappropriate. Or would he lie against himself? |
Politics › Re: Eyo Charles: Femi Fani-Kayode Speaks On Incident With Daily Trust Journalist by WoundedLamb: 9:25pm On Aug 25, 2020 |
Minjim: FFk was here saying it's not a question. But in the video he was screaming " what type of stupid question is that?"
Did the man call Ffk stupid? Did he insult FFk? If FFk knew he couldn't stand scrutiny why did he call a press interview? Many journalists have ask presidents directly embarrassing question and they find a way to dodge it. Go watch Amanpour. A straight Yes or No would have done. But being the delinquent he is he had to act condescending by insulting and intimidating the journalist. That embarrassment was not only directed at that man but to all journalist. Wait for NUJ's response. A straight Yes or No to "who is bankrolling you?". That was not a Yes or No question. Stupid is not the only insult out there. That question already suggested the man was being bankrolled. Amanpour would not ask "who is bankrolling you?" if it hasn't been established that the former senator was being bankrolled, never. She'd rather first ask if he was being sponsored before moving on to who is doing that. And that's where a simple Yes or No would have been perfect. If you want to be a tough journalist, learn how to prepare soft landings for yourself. Journalism involves a lot of intelligence and fast thinking, this guy didn't employ any of those. FFK over reacted but the journalist's question was not carefully thought out. We are just refusing to see it cause any opportunity to lash out at someone we don't like is welcome. |

jlinkd78: Without releasing d full unedited version the management of Daily Trust has said nothing. Independent minds like us can only mediate and pass judgement only when d undoctored version is made known so till then I stand with FFK Thank you for being more logical and less emotional. Though the former minister might have overreacted, if the man's utterance was anything like what the minister claimed he said or even what he claimed he said himself, then he was wrong! Journalism without intelligence is catastrophic. |
Politics › Re: Eyo Charles: Femi Fani-Kayode Speaks On Incident With Daily Trust Journalist by WoundedLamb: 9:01pm On Aug 25, 2020 |
Minjim: Did you see the video of the said question? The video circulated was carefully edited to show only the outburst and not what led to it. However, FFK claimed the man's statement was "who is bankrolling who" while the journalist himself said his question was "who is bankrolling you?". Whichever one, it is still very tactless. You haven't established he is being bankrolled and you're asking who is bankrolling him. That's a whole lot of assumption and insinuation. |

I don't see any need for foreign education, Fela went to Oxford but he impacted society, Ojukwu went to Yale and he emancipated his people
what is the need of going over there when it will not benefit society, useless people
our politicians groom their kids in expensive colleges,
some of them pass out with First class on paper but cannot put Africa on the global map.
China sends students to Europe and America to learn and return. steal technology blueprint and make china great
go to gwarrimpa in Abuja and you see the so called graduate in Charlie boys house coming for a fix, they use their allowance for cocaine, poor man cannot buy cocaine, he will manage his marijuana Well, it's always easy to project blames though. We blame our scientists for not fighting corona like others. We blame our computer programmers for not being creative enough. We blame our leaders for not making Nigeria great. Now, we're calling our Nigerian foreign students for not coming home to create jobs. You're not wrong but how are we different from those we are blaming? What have we done ourselves? We could have been scientists or programmers too but we'd rather sit back and blame. Hope you understand that I'm not against what you're saying but only suggesting we should take responsibility and get more involved instead of always calling out a group of people and what they're not doing right. As for internationally educated people, I believe the very good ones are retained by host countries and comparing Nigeria and these other countries, I wouldn't really be fast to blame them for staying back. Good morning. |
