Education / Re: Truth Or Dare Sex Video: Chrisland, The Parents Or The Girl - Who Is To Blame? by WoundedLamb: 3:44pm On Apr 18, 2022 |
What of the boy and his parent? One gender cannot bear the weight of sanitizing the society, you know. Regardless of how we police the girl child, nothing will change if we keep ignoring the boy child. Judging by what I see on NL, it's obvious boys have got the mindset it's praiseworthy to do these things. If both genders are equally held accountable and educated, they'd always be one to caution the other. But this laissez-faire treatment you give the male child puts a lot of pressure on your daughters. That said, I believe proper sex education for both genders is the only solution. Even if you're a monitoring spirit, you have a limit cause you can't just isolate your child from other kids. Even in the US where teens have boyfriends, a good deal of them don't go to town as seen in the viral video. That's the benefit of engaging kids instead of just flogging them all the time. Let them in on the realities of life and they'll appreciate thier limits. 18 Likes 3 Shares |
Politics / Re: Why Is No One Talking About Sowore And Other Young Presidential Aspirants? by WoundedLamb: 2:01pm On Apr 18, 2022 |
I actually thought about this. Before now, I saw many posts on here clamoring for these old recycled leaders to make way. Then suddenly, it's all about Tinubu, Amecchi, and Co. I'm not surprised these men are contesting. They have the right to contest. Politics is like a career in a multinational organization. Most times, you don't just jump from being an intern to being a CEO. Likewise, it's difficult for a young person with no history in politics to become the president of Nigeria. But unlike in multinational organizations, the fate of the politician is largely determined by the people. The people have the power to make such a jump possible. So if Nigerians don't want these men, only Nigerians can get rid of them. They're bench warmers today cause you made them bench warmers. You can "unbench" them if you wish. That said, were would these young saviors come from though? That same Nigeria? Are these young people any different from the ones on Nairaland? What sign have you seen to get the impression they'd be any better? Old or young, the mindset of an average Nigerian is already messed up. What the country needs now is a leader that will put systems in place to close the loopholes in governance. There are corrupt leaders everywhere. They just don't have the enabling environment. The systems out here have operation procedures, checks-and-balances, and strict policies that govern the nation thus limiting the power of individuals. 2 Likes |

Ola17: OK. But please, don't say "betted" except you also say "thou/thee" for "you", "thy" for "your" and "thine" for "yours". Even if it's not clearly spelt out, the fact is that it is antiquated/archaic and you'd never hear a native say that regardless of their origin. Most reputable dictionaries wouldn't give that as an acceptable conjugation and most of the online dictionaries that provide that conjugation do it in the context of explaining the word "betted". In other words, it mostly comes up when people directly search for the word itself. |
Politics / Re: Governor Uzodinma’s Daughter, Oprah Marries Her Henry Ohaeri (Photos) by WoundedLamb: 6:03pm On Apr 16, 2022 |
See the way people are body-shaming the lady. I wonder how people manage their mental health in Nigeria. It seems to be an extremely toxic place. You just say things cause you find them funny or cause they make you feel good about yourself without paying attention to the extent of damage they do to others. These same people would be the first to call her out if she opts for surgery. 2 Likes |

I posted a comment here yesterday and got banned by the anti-spam bot. Apparently, the dude is 'francophobic'. So OP, I hope you understand English cause I can't afford another ban. My take is that people react differently to CBD oil. I suggest you get the plain/unadulterated oil. This way, you'd at least know what you're reacting to. Again, depending on the skin condition, I'd likely go for milder remedies like aloe vera before settling for CBD. |

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Was The Interviewee's Answer Wrong? (photo) by WoundedLamb: 8:24pm On Apr 14, 2022 |
Then why did he come for the interview? He should have just sent the organization the CV and let them decide if they want him or not. Telling the interviewer about yourself when looking for a job is only pertinent regardless of what you have in your CV. They want to hear you speak. They want to see her how well you articulate your thoughts and they want to give you the opportunity to say those things that can't be put in one's CV. They just want to see the human part of you. You aren't all about your professional achievements (which your CV contains). Your CV might show you've changed 3 times in a year (red flag) but you can easily shed more light on that when asked to talk about yourself. How exactly do you expect the interview to commence if both parties don't talk about themselves first? I can't believe people complain when asked to introduce themselves. Have y'all been interviewers before or you just gang up against anything that seems superior to you? 1 Like |

Tradegood: Lol... did you for a moment believe Nigerian men would actually prefer to settle with white women? Most of the guys here rubbishing Nigerian girls are either teens or those who have never left thier states but entertain some wishful thinking based on what they see on TV. The major issue Nigerian couples face abroad is the man's inability to adjust to the western system where both parties work and take care of the home together. You'd see them say "my wife came over and her eyes opened" and when you investigate, you'd see he's upset cause he was asked to dish his own meal or cause the wife called for help when he hit her. What makes you think such a man would then prefer to settle with a white woman knowing she wouldn't tolerate half as much as the African woman? 2 Likes |

You see how the OP presented feminists as unreasonable people but described the so-called redpillers with unmasked admiration even though we all know bashing women for everything in life and treating them with disrespect are primarily what they do. In other words, he carefully avoided calling out the women bashers without forgetting to tell us how feminists attack people unnecessarily. That's the kind of issue we face with media all over the world. Regardless of how unbiased they claim to be, it's easy to see where they stand. Tribalism and misogyny are the two most disturbing activities going on here. 3 Likes |

Travel / Re: Can I Use My Degree Acquired In Nigeria To Secure A Job Abroad - UK, US, EU? by WoundedLamb: 6:51am On Apr 14, 2022 |
The simple answer is, yes you can. Some fields are regulated, so you might find yourself taking some exams to get your license (just like any other place). Otherwise, your certificate is absolutely fine provided you can defend it when the chips are down. While Europe is a bit more traditional in terms certificates and degrees, North America is primarily about skills. I know people in tech who have never had to bring out thier degree certificates. More so, in some countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada where economic migration is the order of the day, it would be counterintuitive and counterproductive for employers to start rejecting foreign certificates. This is because, in recent times, most immigrants in these countries arrive as skilled workers with the purpose of adding value to the country using thier foreign education. Such immigrants are either on work permit (which means the employers probably picked them from thier source countries) or are government invited immigrants (which means thier certificates were assessed by foreign education assessment bodies like WES, IQAS, etc). The fact that these immigrants are doing great in thier respective fields clears any doubt employers might have regarding foreign certificates. Therefore, even non economic immigrants (marriage, asylum, etc.) don't really have major issues in this regard. One thing I know immigrants suffer in NA sometimes is the demand for "American/Canadian" experience. This is distinct from your professional experience. Some workers might look down on women at work or treat thier LGBTQ+ colleagues with disdain, some might be considered "loud" or "rude" primarily cause of background differences. Because of these, some employers sometimes ask for local (American/Canadian) experience even if it's just some internship or volunteering experience. Finally, if you enter through the backdoor, the recognition of your certificate would be the least of your issues. 1 Like |

ETHICALLYrlght: First, you don't need to call names to make your point. Second, you cited researches carried out on other platform to showcase the possibility that Nairalanders might be better than non Nairalanders. The key word there is "might". This is because no such research has been done on Nairaland, so your take is just a possibility. If anything, the works you cited also shows that those who aren't using the platform might actually have better traits as well. We don't know either of these for sure and that was exactly what I communicated to the person I quoted. I told him it wasn't a case of light vs darkness. If you read my comment correctly, you'd notice I said we aren't necessarily better than non Nairalanders and that they might just have other ways of getting information. If you had understood the words in bold, you might have saved yourself the stress of doing an extensive research just to fault my comment. You quoted me twice calling me Mr. Woke and a libtard. That's an indication you're more interested in the usual Nairaland fruitless fights than actually communicating. I only chose to reply your second post cause I believe you took your time find those references. But for your good and that of people around you, practice communication your thoughts with less emotions and more logic. 4 Likes 1 Share |

budaatum: Hhmm.... Having accounts on certain social networks is simply a matter of choice. We aren't necessarily better than those who don't have accounts on Nairaland. They are neither ignorant nor adamant. They might just have other ways of getting information that they find more convenient. It is not a darkness vs light combat. It's just social media. Let's not over-philosophize it. 39 Likes 2 Shares |

Pets / Re: The Man Who Played With A Crocodile " Chito And Pocho" by WoundedLamb: 4:26pm On Apr 13, 2022 |
Adorable... almost cool but dangerous nevertheless. Each time they keep these wild animals in captivity for shows/revenue generation, they always start off with a story of how the animal was rescued from some dangerous situation and how it has refused to go back into the wild just to create the impression these beasts are willingly doing the shows. While some of these stories might be true, we've long learned that a lot them are not. Yes, animals raised in captivity would neither want to go into the wild nor survive there. But any beast born in the wild is better off in the wild. Don't condition thier minds and turn around to say they now love you more than thier fellow crocodiles. Did the they also ask to be trained as performers? Animals used for shows are overly stressed by the workload, the artificial environment and the absence of peers, and that could be dangerous to both the animals and the trainers. Except for those bred in captivity, these adult animals are better off in thier natural habitats or in reserves. Just saying. 1 Like |
