sanctity454:I've long come to accept that it would be difficult, if not impossible, for high networth individuals to pool their resources together to form a body of venture capitalist that could invest in capital intensive businesses in the south-east, or gift a world-class tourist landmark to the city, state or region! The problem is that all of them would want to be the only one linked to the project....the head-honcho as it were! This would mean they don't have to 'suffer the indignity' of having to share the limelight with other billionaires; too many billionaires linked to one project or endowment could mean their name getting 'lost in the crowd' and them not receiving the prominence and adulation they think they deserve! Like you suggested, just imagine a group of venture capitalists made up of Titans of industry like Prince Arthur Eze, OILSERVE, NESTOIL, BRITTANIA-U, INNOSON, IBETO, etc? All of them combined could quite comfortably raise up to $2 Billion over a 5 year period, to be invested in critical areas of the south-eastern economy that have hardly been touched! This consortium of venture capitalists could focus on key thematic investment areas in the south-east that are crying out for investment: areas like tourism....by providing at least one 5-Star hotel in the east that can help attract weddings and other functions and conferences that otherwise would have been held in Lagos, Abuja or abroad....also the beautiful Oguta Lake is yet to get the proper world-class investment it deserves; transportation...by investing in already up and running airlines like Air-Peace, or investing in a inter or intra city rail network; embedded power supply....for industrial zones or keying into already existing ones like GEOMETRIC; education....by supporting at least one or two universities per state, and providing scholarships to outstanding individuals; etc-etc-etc! We could still achieve a lot if we pool our resources together to make a much bigger impact, instead of operating solo either on an individual or state basis! |
Happy birthday to my brother Tekno! We're so proud of you! I'm yet to come across a Tekno song i don't like! Though he could improve a bit on his lyrics! |
sanctity454:If that river actually exists as shown in that pic, then i'm furious with the present and past governors in the state who haven't been imaginative enough to capitalise on such a unique feature to boost the tourist potentials of Owerri! They could have built a landmark bridge over the river, or had boat rides that could take you from one end of the city to the other for a small fee! Also, the banks of the river could be put to better use! |
SoNature:Was about to ask the same question! Where in Owerri looks that scenic...with a river running through the city like the Rhine or Thames? Unless it's Nworie river. I'm thinking it could be a bit of Photoshopping going on! |
JasonScoolari:Oh dear! Buhari going up against that brilliant lot in a debate? Wetin him wan talk!? ![]() He may just as well tell his ADC to point his pistol at his (Buharis') head and blow his brains out! At least that would save him the torture of having to go through what would undoubtedly be a public mauling; esp' from that Ezekwesili lady....that woman has a very sharp tongue! |
TarOrfeek:Any clue in the OP as to where this happened? |
arinzeejikonye:I remember some time back the meddlesome EFCC splashed red paint all over the perimeter walls of this mall declaring that it's under investigation or something like that. Hopefully, it's been wiped off now! The area is prime real-estate, so i hope whoever owns that large piece of land next to the mall has intentions of building a landmark and world-class project there! |
Heartbender:Dude, you're waffling and going off on a tangent! You were the one that asserted that there are no Igbo in your so called south-south, and i gave you three examples: Egbema, Ndoni (my place) and Obigbo! For some funny reason, you zeroed in on Obigbo while ignoring the other two. Does that mean you're now conceeding there are Igbos in your south-south? And i didn't even mention Igbos in Delta state like Ndi Asaba na Okpanam (after all you conveniently love to claim Nzeogwus' coup was an Igbo coup)! The assertion that Obigbo will never be Igbo...now that's bold and definitive! Is that just the nasty bigot in you speaking, or can you buttress your assertion with links to clips or news reports where the Obigbo have denounced their Igbo heritage or proclaimed themselves to be a distinct ethnic nationality? You say the Igbo call Port Harcourt Igweocha. Why is that paining you? It's a known fact that the Ikwerre are the landlords of Port Harcourt, and they speak Igbo, so if Port Harcourt is called by the name it was used before being named after some white colonialist, i don't see the problem there! Can you provide links to where a Igbo from the south-east or a pan-Igbo group went over the heads of the Ikwerre that own the land to claim Port Harcourt as Igbo territory? The only time i think that would happen would be in the context of seeing Ikwerre as part of the larger Igbo nation, but if you know of any other instance i'd be happy to hear from you! Care to point out in my previous posts on this thread where i asserted that Nigeria before independence was made up of just the three main ethnic nationalities? Or are you saying that since i stated there are Igbo in your south-south, then that implies they are the only ethnic groups in the region? You've still not told us what your ethnicity is in this south-south that gives you the temerity to talk for the entire region.....still waiting! |
EricBloodAxe:Sadly, it's all of the above! ![]() |
I'm guessing as they legged it towards the sanctuary of the surrounding hills and bushes, they would have been consoling themselves that it's better to be a live chicken than a dead lion! ![]() It appears all that 'bravery' they showed during python dance 1&2 has deserted them! ![]() |
See the exquisite Gate-House Obijackson is planning for his new mansion in Okija! Seeing what he's already put up in Okija and Lagos, i have no doubt that the finished product will keep faith with what's shown in the 3D rendering! Video courtesy of Kene Mgbemena and associates. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMegKw5NCwU |
sokechukwu:Pray tell, on what basis did you determine that Okorocha is richer than Tinubu? |
Heartbender:Just as i thought...another Igbo-hating, 'we-south-south', insecure git! Always finding a way to spout anti-Igbo sentiments even when the occasion doesn't call for it! Tell me, on what basis was Rivers State created that -according to you- groups placed in the state were determined not to be Igbo.....care to furnish us with links to the determining documents? On what basis did they determine that Obigbo wasn't Igbo? What criteria was used to divide Egbema into two, placing one part with more oyel and gas in Rivers while leaving the rest in Imo? On what basis do you determine that my place Ndoni, which was placed in Rivers is not Igbo but an ethnic nationality in its own right? Are there Yoruba in Kwara and Kogi? If yes, what makes them Yoruba and keep their Yoruba identity but when it comes to Rivers Sate, the Igbo that were placed in the state in 1966 automatically lost theirs? Lastly, what's your own ethnicity in this so called south-south? |
Heartbender:Please, if you don't know what you're talking about then shut up! Part of your so called south-south are Igbo, and i'm a living testament to this fact! You leave the topic and culprit and turn your unwanted attentions towards Igbo that are innocent in this matter! The problem with some of you ethnicities in the so called south-south is leaving the real cause of your problems to blame Ndigbo for everything....that's if you're really from the south-south! |
This man campaigned for the 2015 election on security with the PROMISE that his gov't will annihilate the bokos if voted into power; fast-forward to a few days to the 2019 election, and yet again he's hoping up and down, PROMISING to annihilate the bokos! But the real tragedy of the situation is that some Nigerians expect that -with some sophisticated rigging- the mofo actually stands a chance of being reelected next year! ![]() |
babyfaceafrica:You see, this is the problem with you 'one Nigeria' peeps....you're all deluded and have your heads either stuck firmly in the sand or stuck up Buharis' arsse! You keep on mouthing off 'God bless Nigeria' while facts on the ground suggest your Nigeria is cursed and will continue to be cursed until you get real and do the right thing! Nigeria is nothing but a joke in the comity of nations....a giant with feet of clay that can be felled with just one push! |
pawesome:No he wasn't. Dude had more pressing matters to attend to! ![]() |
Awol1:Hehehehe ![]() |
There's something to be said for such a combination, but i'm afraid it wouldn't work given the ethnic-religious realities that govern politics in Nigeria! They're all Christians....and besides, you've left out the Fulani, who for some funny reason always insist on having the number two spot when the number one is already taken! ![]() |
Asshurbanipal:Sorry, i ain't buying it! The advantage you claim Abakaliki has over Aba in terms of its small size should easily be balanced or even wiped out by the economic potentials Aba has....that's if Abia had a visionary and imaginative governor! |
Boyooosa:On getting wind of Buharis' evil plot to 'handle the problem' via extra-judicial means, IPOB arranged for their leader to be spirited out of Nigeria to a safe and sane country where his safety would be guaranteed! You have a problem with that? ![]() |
GeneralOjukwu:The meaning of 'coward' must have changed since the last time i checked! I remember how you two-faced, bigoted schmucks were daring Mazi Kanu to return to Nigeria if he know say him papa born am well. Well, he bravely took up your challenge and returned to stare satan in the face eyeball-to-eyeball! Only for you sad gits to hijack the judicial process and charge him on trumped up charges of terrorism and ensure he wasn't released on bail even after many judicial pronouncements granting said privilege! When you finally caved into pressure and came to your senses, you allowed him to be released. But after months of having to stomach the truth he was bashing you over the head with, you thought it might be a brilliant idea to dispense with the judicial process altogether and proceeded to send your murderous fulani army on a assassination mission to Afaraukwu (Mazi Kanus' hometown)! But Mazi Kanus' God never sleeps and all your devilish plans came to nought.....instead you were left with egg on your ugly faces, while chomping on a large serving of 'humble pie'! Now tell me bigot, just who does the tag of 'coward' fit in the above narrative!? |
DREAMZZZ:Hehehehe ![]() |
It's misplaced aggression....psychology-101. ![]() |
I'm guessing Vaseline would be recording robust sales in South Africa as well! ![]() |
In the period it took him to start and bring this flyover up to this level of construction, Ebonyi (a supposedly poorer state) has not only built 3, but is adding a fourth one as we speak, and throwing in a network of solid and sexy looking rural and urban roads for jara! ![]() |
Interesting Google shots of Onitsha and other parts of Anambra! Though i didn't get the point being made with the comparisons between Onitsha and Ibadan. I noticed the older parts of Onitsha are so well-planned and laid out in a nice grid system. Pity subsequent developments by the black Africans that took over after independence didn't continue with such a tradition! I also noticed there's a serious lack, if not total absence, of parks in our cities; dedicated open green spaces with wooded areas and well-tended sweeping lawns. This can not only serve as a place where individuals and families can go to relax, but can also help the city to breath and mop up the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere! |
eduj:Same here! Was expecting an underground passageway linking the attractions mentioned. Though a commendable effort, but they should change the name to something like 'glass passage' or something similar! I'm impressed with how much the Ebonyi gov't is achieving with little funds! I think other state gov'ts need to go take tutorials on how to build critical infrastructure through their ministry of works or a state gov't owned construction coy! |
Chriz:They're like MTN....everywhere you go! This is the agenda of the APC/Buhari regime! Not so much a hidden agenda as one being boldly proclaimed from the rooftops! Why didn't he replace the outgoing finance minster with one from the same region like he's done in this similar instance? |
Juliusmalema:Nice one! Hope we'll stop hearing this rubbish from you from now on! You're starting to sound like a broken record! ![]() |
goaldynboy:Bros, there are so many of them on Igbo-themed thread fronting as Igbo! They're easy to spot in that they're quick to abuse and denigrate other Igbo states, they love Buhari and APC, and they despise Mazi Kanu and IPOB with passion! |
