Sometimes, there is a price for being competent and brilliant. The responsibility he took up yesterday was the responsibility of the Comptroller General of Customs. The CG was the one invited to face the committee but he pushed it to his most senior DCG to represent him.

If you watch the video, the man sitting to the right of DC Essien is a DCG and the man sitting to his left is a comptroller. The DCG is in charge of Finance, Account and technical services of Customs and the Comptroller is in charge of Accounts. Both are very senior officers but they still decided to push the presentation to a Deputy Controller.

Maybe he would still be alive today if he was not the one given the responsibility to make the presentation to the committee. In as much as there may be underlying medical condition, the fear of making that presentation triggered his medical condition and ultimately led to his death. Senior officers who make all the decisions and enjoy all the benefits of their big ranks should take more responsibility and stop pushing duties like this to those under them. May God rest his soul.

This is just volunteering to put someone in debt. It’s one of those ideas that look good in your head but are unpractical.

Imported engines are not what you described here at least i currently sell tokunbo engines. Some may tilt towards that but no importer will risk huge funds to bring in the scrap you talked about. It is not worth it
