wirinet: Curfews are temporary emergency powers during a breakdown of law and order, it doesn't need to be legislated upon.
Why are you arguing blindly when the court has already said it is unconstitutional. The best the Lagos state government can do is appeal up to the supreme Court. Meanwhile, there must be a reason Fashola, a SAN decided not to appeal. There is no point continuing this conversation since you are confusing a government directive with state law. From your link. Justice Ugochukwu Ogakwu of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division held that in the absence of a written law prescribing the same, the governor’s directive for people in Lagos State to stay at home and not to move about thereby restricting movement of persons in Lagos State within the hours of 7.00am to 10.00am on the last Saturday of every month was unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional. I suggest you stop misleading people with your misrepresentation of the appeal court case. Don't bother replying. I am out! |

wirinet: Is a law that keeps citizens indoors compulsorily constitutional? Yes, it is. There is freedom of movement, yet governors impose curfew when necessary. There is also freedom of speech in the constitution but laws can be made to punish unwanted speech. Constitution was written by humans for humans and not given by some god. The Lagos state house of assembly can pass a bill to that effect and it will be legal. |

deomelo: And I also corrected you that the US government and employers in the US are asking US citizens/Job seekers to submit their social media info and it's not against their law.
It is obviously new and foreign to Nigerians, but not to US citizens. The US government never asks its citizens for their SM details. Submitting SM details for employment purposes is different from submitting the same details for being a citizen. You are confusing the two. |
Travel › Re: US Now Seeking Social Media Details From All Visa Applicants by Xisnin(m): 8:55am On Jun 02, 2019 |
deomelo: It is not illegal, they have every right to dictate or request such info as part of their Visa app and immigration screening process.
They do demand the same social media info from job applicants in the US and it's not against their law to do so. Nobody said it was illegal. You claimed that Nigerians will consider such a request as a threat to democracy and I corrected you that the US is not asking its citizens for their social media details. Job applicants choose to apply for jobs and must abide by the employers' condition according to law. They aren't forced to apply. If the Nigeria government decide to ask visa applicants for their SM details, no Nigerians will be affected by such directive and it has no bearing on local democracy or governance. |

Reason I love the white so much when it comes to customer service. You complain after filing a dispute, they check and if the product/service fall short of the standard/duration they promise during their sales letters they issue a FULL REFUND and even ask you to KEEP the product even with APOLOGIES on top of it and count as one of those bad annual deals. Too bad there is no bleaching cream to make you a "white". Can't you give an advice without denigrating yourself and others? I sense a strong inferiority complex in your comment and maybe you made it out of ignorance of the wider world. What you are saying, in essence, is that "whites" whatever that means have the best behaviors and that you would have done worse than Frank Edoho's wife if you were in her shoes since you are not white. Centrallock: Us tec companies are just stealing ideas? From who? China Even if your claim were true, nobody owns an idea. Android can't rule for ever so thanks to them for giving way for a new OS should huawei and China make a better OS they will forever cush that decision I laugh at this comment, there is nothing like "better OS". Only those in the tech sector will understand. Usa is not as powerful as you think, 90% of usa tech gurus are Indians and China, these guys are just after buying your ideas and any competitive rivalry to oppose thier dominace, we on tech issues forget about their war history and remove allies from USA and see how empty they will become. Alot of you guys are deceived with the name USA and power Again, you show your lack of awareness of the tech industry. Ideas are worth nothing. No sensible person will pay you a shilling for an idea. By your logic, the thousands of Africans who work in the UK health sector holds the real power. Then you wonder why these geniuses did not stay in their country to beging with. |

Topmaike007: if Chinese government should ban all Chinese firms to stop using Android on their tech believe me Android is gone, Even I and you will use the new OS There is no reason to believe you. If you follow geopolitics well, you will realize that you cannot order an economy. Why did you think windows phone did not rise? Why is facebook still dominating the social space despite the fact that anyone can buy Facebook's the complete code for less than a $100? There is a reason that Apple still can beat Microsoft office despite spending millions of dollars on research and development. Contrary to what the media tell you, tech companies survive because of business, not because of tech that can be copied or cloned. Nobody will use Chinese made OS outside China because it will be largely useless safe for non-internet savvy populace. If it was that easy to order an economy around, Chinese smartphones won't bother with Android in the first place since they can create their own clone and install. |

Dottore: ARM was made prominent by virtually massive patronage from Chinese companies and believe me the Chinese understand the Tru meaning of Necessity is the mother of invention.
Google just shot itself in the leg and this is the beginning of the end. They have just "informed" not only Huawei but the entire China and licensed them to find an alternative.
Apart from China having their indegenous human resources who can effectively handle both written and spoken English, it will only take them an effort to employ less than 100 English scholars even Britons to work as content writers in creating an independent OS. If you have been to China you will better appreciate their prowess. They don't even have to work very hard. They already have Google Android source codes and Templates so they only need to plagiarize and customize to suit whatever they want.
Chinese phone manufacturers have rendered premium western phone makers into oblivion now. Where are the great names in the likes of BlackBerry, Motorola, Ericsson, Siemens, Kyocera, Olivetti, BenQ, Grundig, Nokia to mention but a few.
Even in personal computer where are the great names like IBM, Packard Bell, Acorn, Gateway, Magnavox to mention but a few. Even the great HP and Dell are struggling for survival. Do you know that already China has its own version of FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE, SEARCH ENGINES, MAP, CHAT APPS and other western premium sites and apps. The US just gave China a license to rubbish my precious Google and believe me in less than 3 years Google will be begging for merger with a Chinese company. You don't know jack about technology. Anyone with a few million dollars can develop an OS. There are even free open source mobile OS available on the internet. The real question is who would buy the phones aside family members? |
