mofedamijo: Lol..... I hire at least 20 - 30 candidates every month. I can share my LinkedIn and ATS with you to see my job posting and hiring.
Those people you mentioned are based in Nigeria, Iam saying, nobody wants to hire a U.S based programmer without a B.sc. By the way, the millions you think they are earning is peanuts to those I hire with Masters degree. Take my word for it.
I am not here to argue, I am stating facts. I belong to several U.S based recruiters groups and forums, nobody is looking for a Developer without a degree in the U.S.
Go and kook at any U.S job post online. 93% requires a Bachelors degree except handymans job.
I keep laughing when people say the word is changing and degree's are no longer needed. I can bet on it, 95% of Indian developers in the U.S have at least a Bachelors degree, and a large percent have a masters degree. That is why they have an edge over other nationals. They are gurus but still acquiring more knowledge. Sit there and think degrees are outdated when millions around the globe are pursuing degrees daily.
I am presently hiring for Executive Assistant to a CEO, U.S based candidates, and we need someone with a Bachelors degree. I will not submit a candidate without a Bachelors degree, and I can tell you, no recruiter will do that either. Once a client sends you a candidate requirement, you have to stick to it......... Degrees are highly rated anywhere. Please must it be a Computer Science degree? What of some with BSc in Information Technology |

Abudu2000: 8m ? Is this how u want to lie into 2022? smile do you have idea of how much it cost to play a song on top radio stations for just a month? Do you have idea of how much it cost to shoot a standard Video? Do you know how much it cost to play a video song on major music Television Station? Do you know how much it cost for standard promotion for just one month on the major music blog site for just a month? Go check Naijaloaded for example. After you work on those questions then you’ll know 10 million Naira is not even enough to promote a song nah just management. E shock you bcoz you think say na 8million of year 10 yrs ago abi. If you’re into music and see how much guys have been spending on music without much to show for it if you’re not strong minded you’ll be discouraged and give up. After paying a tv station 500-1m they can stop playing your song after a week if they don’t like it. He paid 4syte Tv in Accra 6000ghc and they stopped playing it after a week he have to pay another 5k which they now played it for him for 5 full weeks. Below is two of the packages on Naijaloaded and to get a good results you have to combine more packages

CyberHustle: Mechanical engineering is simply centered around the design of mechanical systems. It isn't equal to mechanical technician role. People erroneously equate engineers to technician's. Also, roadside mechanics or technicians workshop can be financially tasking to properly setup and master it's use.
This is from a Google search on "engineers vs technicians". Engineering comprises building/construction ,repairing and maintenance |

The only lesson learnt from all these is that if you want to steal don’t steal peanut steal big maybe billions then you can find your way out. If you’re hungry don’t steal one Congo of rice beg to get it instead, if you don’t have means to steal all the phones in computer village don’t steal phone at all Cos you’ll go to long time jail, Instead of stealing pepper in the market don’t add pepper to your food at all I mostly cook my food without pepper, it’s a big shame to be sentenced to 20yrs jail Cos of 100naira pepper.
Please if you don’t have means to steal billions of naira or at least 100m don’t steal at all.
Fellow Nigerians don’t be surprised when this judgement will be appealed and nullified by the Supreme Court . This is Nigeria.
NOTE: Don’t go and steal bcoz Orji Uzo Kalu sole and nothing happened, Taiwo head is different from Kehinde head oh |

Music/Radio › Re: Ghanaians Are Obsessed With Naija Music.. by Xpol: 8:47pm On Oct 03, 2021 |
mdntiri: I agree. I've seen stats putting Lagos'economy at 90 billion dollars and over, Ghana's as at now is less than 80 billion dollars. You guys are prolific, and I have lots of respect for you. Ghanaians are not that prolific. If we produced and consumed more of the things we use, things would improve. For our small population/land size, ABUNDANT mineral resources, peaceful people, great location, no wars etc etc we shouldn't be where we're now. But things are beginning to look good
So Lagos is bigger than Ghana(for now) in terms of GDP (economy), not population or land size smile I like you, you’re countering them with facts and stats, you’re also honest with your argument. But I don’t really agree with “Nigerians hate Ghanaians” thing. It’s an African ways no true love for your brothers, within Nigeria the Yoruba,Hausa and Igbo mostly counter one another I’ve also seen similar things in Ghana where an Ashanti man will act as if he’s more Ghanaian than someone from the northern part. Same way you think Nigerians hate Ghanaians that’s the same way Nigerians think Ghanaians hate them but in honesty this is not a pure hatred it’s more of a brotherly competition. |

Career › Re: Bsc In Computer Science, Is It Still A Lucrative Degree? by Xpol: 9:01am On Jul 27, 2021 |
WinterEagle: Any field that intersects in a way with computer science sells. The onus lies on you to develop yourself via free materials online to be at least good in data structure and algorithm if you would be interested in a technical career path down the lane. If you have people skills and do not want to code for a living, then look towards a career in IT leadership, product management, business analysis, scrum lead etc. The only drawback here is you would need to look for a way to set yourself apart from the crowd here. All the best. thanks for the information |
Career › Re: Bsc In Computer Science, Is It Still A Lucrative Degree? by Xpol: 8:57am On Jul 27, 2021 |
abbey621: Same path, same advice, until he specializes in a specific area, he'll just be looked at as another generic graduate. In 9ja, I.T can be very wide and open to interpretation, it could be someone working at a Cafe or an engineer at MTN. Information Technology can be split into so many levels, security architect, systems admin, cloud, I.T auditor, QA and so on, let him start thinking about specialization and gaining real practical experience rather than just focuising on theories. ok thanks very much |
Career › Re: Bsc In Computer Science, Is It Still A Lucrative Degree? by Xpol: 2:56am On Jul 27, 2021 |
abbey621: Computer science as it is being taught in most Nigerian universities is dead and buried, majority of fresh graduates from Nigerian universities cannot name all the components in a typical computer system by looking at it, majority cannot debug systems errors using log files and audit commands. Majority cannot operate unix or linux based systems. Don't even get me started with programming where majority cannot write decent C++ codes to save their lives not to talk of programming in Java or Phyton.
The beauty of computer science is that it is so diverse, as long as you're still calling yourself a computer scientist, you're still a novice in this field. Ogbeni what do you specialize in? Are you a systems admin, full stack developer, front end developer, network admin, linux engineer, architect, security admin or database admin? These are just tips of icebergs, there are well over 20 more specialization that I did not include, so back to the question? Is computer science profitable? YES AND NO!
YES, if you decide to master your domain, if you decide to specialize in a segment and not be a jack of all trade. Yes if you learn by doing ratehr than just relying on some outdated textbook and lectures.
NO, if you think a B.sc in computer science means shin shin. No, if you have nothing to offer but a generic degree and no certifications. Experience beats almost any degree but you do not gain experience by bringing the same things thousands of graduates bring to the table, you've got to reinvent yourself and stay ahead of the curve!
Simply put, computer science is like a child crawling, for the child to walk, he or she must master a technique or two, if you're still in chool, now is the best time to get some practical experience, look for opportunities to learn for free, buy scrap computers, disect and put back together, if you want to be a programmer, write at least 5-6 programs per month, never stop improving. If your focus is on networking better get some certifications and be ready to pass exams like CCNA, Network+ and a bunch of Microsoft certifications. May the God of Babbage & Lovelace be with you! please one of my younger brothers insist on going for IT instead of CS any advice on that? |
Career › Re: Bsc In Computer Science, Is It Still A Lucrative Degree? by Xpol: 2:35am On Jul 27, 2021 |
WinterEagle: I see alot of comment and I shake my head. Only if you know the worth of that degree in the WEST. That degree was my ticket to relocate out of Nigeria. After settling down here, I tried to talk all my siblings into taking a CS degree but they really do not understand me because they can't see what I see and have seen. I currently work as a software engineer outside nigeria. While others are lamenting about being unable to get jobs after graduation here in Canada, I had multiple offers before graduation. And within two years, I had worked for very big brands in Canada. If you have a CS degree regardless of where you get it from, the language is universal. Its a degree you can have from Nigeria or anywhere else without the need to take any conversion exam of any sort. That degree is a goldmine. As long as you can at least code averagely, the sky is the limit. please what can you say about IT(BSc) |
